Van driver's on his way to the hospital.

Other two who were sh*t, both DOA.

For those of you who don't know,
my name is Regina Haywood.

I've been a street cop
most of my career,

and like a lot of you,
I've had all kinds of ideas.

What should be done differently,

and what can be done better.

Now I get to see if some of those ideas

might actually work.

The double homicide
Sergeant Kee mentioned

was that of a German tourist
and a security guard,

m*rder*d in broad daylight.

That is totally unacceptable.

And if it were two young g*ng members,

that would also be totally unacceptable.

We, all together, are going to stem

this kind of v*olence in East New York.

I'm going to ask a great deal

of each and every one of you.

And I want you to know
that if you do your job

the way it is meant to be done,

I got your backs.

So, no more quotas on traffic tickets,

penny-ante pot busts, selling loosies

or loitering on the streets.

We're gonna focus elsewhere.

I also want members of the service

to start living near where they work.

It's to show the people who live here

that we're a part of the same
community they're a part of.

We're not an occupying army.

I grew up in Section housing
with a drug addict mother,

and when I was , I ran away,
and I lived on the streets,

and I didn't consider myself
part of any community

at all, so now?

I'm only too happy to be a part
of whatever community will have me.

in Africa since I got involved
