Ah, hello there, children. I'm looking for my baton.

I lost it around here somewhere.

We can help you look for it!

BOTH: Bubble Puppy?

[Barking, chuckling]

Oh, thank goodness, your puppy found it!

It's very important!

What's it for?

Ah! I will show you.

This is an orchestra.

Wow!Whoa!

Look at all the musical instruments!

Oh, yes! And I am the conductor!

I use my baton here to help the musicians play together.

[Baton tapping]

[Orchestra playing classical music]

[Orchestra continuing]

That was cool!

Orchestras make the most beautiful music.

Would you like to try, young man?

Yeah!

[Tapping]

[Orchestra playing atonally]Whoa!

Oof!

[Giggling]

Sometimes it takes a little practice.

Oh, and speaking of which,

we must keep practicing! Excuse me, children.

ALL: Good morning, Mr. Grouper!

Well, good morning, everyone!

Mr. Grouper, we saw an orchestra!

Oh, wow!

Mr. Grouper, what's an orchestra?

An orchestra is a big group of musicians

that play music together.

That's right, Nonny.

Orchestras make beautiful music

with all sorts of different instruments!

I like the flute!

[Mimicking flute sounds]

I like the violin.

[Mimicking violin sounds]

I like the trumpet because it's loud!

[Mimicking trumpet sounds]

[All chuckling]

Mr. Grouper, what other instruments are in an orchestra?

Let's think about it!

A shiny brass instrument that you blow into is called the...

[Horn sounding]

Trumpet!

That's right!

And the long instrument

with lots of holes along the side is called the...

[Instrument sounding]

Flute!

Right! The flute!

And there's a string instrument

that you play with a bow called the...

[Instrument sounding]

Violin.

That's right!

There's also the piano...

[Piano sounding]

...the French horn...

[Horn sounding]

...and the tympani!

[Drums sounding]

These are just some of the many instruments

you can find in an orchestra.

Let's sing about it!

♪ Violins pluck away

♪ Then add some cellos in the middle ♪

♪ Cymbals join in with a crash ♪

♪ Drummers grab their sticks and bash ♪

♪ Add tympani and bass, fiddles ♪

♪ Flutes blow on by

♪ Horns soar like they could fly ♪

♪ Trumpets play up high

[Trumpets sounding]

♪ Orchestra play for me

♪ A beautiful symphony

♪ Play something dramatic and bright ♪

[Orchestra playing]

♪ Conductors lead with their batons ♪

♪ Stand up front and wave their arms ♪

♪ To help the players play together ♪

[Trumpets sounding]

♪ Tubas play down low

♪ Up high play the piccolos

♪ And strings play in with their bows

and I need an instrument!

Well, you've certainly come to the right place!

Welcome to the Boom-Boom Room!

What do you say, Boom Boom?

Ah, boom, boom![Drums sounding]

[Laughing]

We have a huge selection of percussion instruments!

"Percussion?" What's that mean?

Percussion instruments

are the ones you hit or shake to make music!

Isn't that right, Boom Boom?

Si, ah, boom boom![Drums playing]

So, what are you lookin' for?

I want an instrument that makes a loud boom when I hit it!

Si! Si!

Here are two wonderful instruments to choose from.

I need your help.

Which one of these percussion instruments

makes a really loud boom when you hit it?

[Triangle chiming]

[Drums pounding]

BOTH: That one!

Yeah, those make a loud boom!

Great choice!

Those percussion instruments are called the tympani.

And for your convenience, it comes on wheels!

Si! Ha-ha!

Ah, boom boom!

[Drums pounding]

[Laughing] Thanks!

[Drums pounding]

It's, ah, time for lunch!

[Saxophone sounding]

[Laughing]

"Orche-straw?" That's silly!

[Laughing]

In an orchestra,

people who play similar instruments sit together.

It's called a "section."

[Strings playing]

Hi, Gil.

Hey, Molly.

Check out my strings section.

We have a violin, a cello, and a bass.

Listen!

[Strings playing]

Now finish with "boom, boom!"

[Violin sounding]

Not exactly.

I want it to go "boom, boom!"

[Cello sounding]

Hmmm... I just can't make it sound right.

Well, you only have string instruments, Gilly.

Yeah! Maybe I need a percussion instrument.

I just want it to go--

Ah, boom, boom?

Uh-oh.[Drums pounding]

[Gil yelling]

[Laughing]

Hey, Molly! We're playing orchestra!

Do you want to play orchestra with us?

Come on!

[All mimicking instrument sounds]

[Laughing]

Okay, does everyone have an instrument?

ALL: Yes! Ready!

We're going to pretend to play classical music as an orchestra.

I'll lead you as the conductor!

Now, music is wonderful

and it can make you feel different ways,

depending on how you play it.

Go ahead please, Nonny.

Here we go! One and two and three and four and...

[Classical music playing]

[Laughing]

[Classical music playing]Very good.

Now, we'll play it slowly.

[Slow classical music playing]

[Snoring]

[Laughing]

ALL: Mr. Grouper!

Whoa! Oh!

That music made me so sleepy.

I must have dozed off there for a second.

Maybe we should play the song fast.

Okay! One, two, three, four!

[Classical music playing quickly]

[Laughing]

Faster!

[Classical music playing very quickly]

Whoa!

[Laughing]

Whoa-oh!

I love orchestras!

Me too!

Line up, musicians!

It's time to go outside!

We're musicians.

We play musical instruments.

Once upon a time...

NONNY, NARRATING: There were three musicians who were on their way

to perform at a concert.

Here we are, Bear Valley.

The concert will be performed down there,

just on the other side of this forest.

Let's go!

I wonder why they call this Bear Valley.

GUPPIES: Bear!

I guess that's why this is called Bear Valley.

That was a close one!

Let's keep going.

And so, the three musicians continued on their way

to the concert on the other side of the forest.

But first, they stopped to practice.

This looks like a nice spot.

[Instruments playing]

But before long...

GUPPIES: Bear!

[Sniffing]

Gee!

[Bear whistling]

He took our instruments into his cave!

Now what are we going to do?

[Bear whistling in cave]

[Humming]

Let's go get our instruments before he comes back.

Look at all those instruments.

Goby, there's your French horn.

And there's my flute!

[Bear whistling]

He's coming back!

I need your help to find my instrument.

I play a woodwind instrument.

That means it's a long tube with lots of holes along the side.

Which one of those is a woodwind instrument?

FISH: That one!

Yeah, that's my clarinet.

It's a woodwind instrument.

Come on, let's get out of here!

GUPPIES: Bear!



We're trapped!

What do we do?!

I have an idea.

Music can make you have different feelings.

Right...

Let's play our song in a way

that will make the bear feel sad.

One, two, three, four...

[Sad music playing]



[Sniffling]

This music is so sad!

[Sobbing]

It's working!

Don't cry, Mr. Bear.

We won't play any more sad music if you promise

not to take our instruments again.

[Sniffling]

I promise.

I just wanted to make music.

But I don't know how.[Sniffling]

We can teach you how to play your own instrument.

You-- you can?

Sure!Gee!

NONNY, NARRATING: And so, the musicians taught the bear

how to play an instrument.

And they all performed together.

Oh, right.

[Triangle dinging][Chuckling]

And they all lived happily ever after.

[Cheering]

Come on, everybody! It's time to dance!

[Guppies laughing]

Come on, all you conductors, get up and dance with us!

Come on! Get up!

We're gonna wave our batons!

♪ Hey there conductor, with your baton ♪

♪ Up on your podium, waving your arms ♪

♪ You'll keep us together, as we play this song ♪

♪ And if you will join us

♪ You can wave your arms along ♪

All right, conductors, when I say go,

we're gonna use our arms to conduct the orchestra.

Are you ready? Here we go!

One, two, three, four!

♪ Arms down on one, and when that is done ♪

♪ Across on the two, that's just what you do ♪

♪ Then out on the three, there you go, follow me ♪

♪ Then up on b*at four, turn the page of your score ♪

♪ Follow the conductor, who'll show the way ♪

♪ And lead us through the music with each dip and sway ♪

♪ Slowly or quickly, loudly or soft ♪

♪ We'll wait for the signal, and then we are off ♪

♪ Arms down on one, and when that is done ♪

♪ Across on the two, that's just what you do ♪

♪ Then out on the three, there you go, follow me ♪

♪ Then up on b*at four

♪ Turn the page of your score

[Guppies cheering]

The conductor is in charge of the whole orchestra

and how the music is played.

[Woodwind instruments playing]

Hi, Gilly.

Is that your string section again?

Nope, these are woodwind instruments.

[Woodwinds playing "Shave and a Haircut"]

♪ Boom, boom

Hmm, I'm still having trouble at the end.

Come on, guys, let's finish with the, "Boom, boom."

[Clarinet playing]

Hmm, that's not quite right.

Gilly, those are all woodwind instruments.

I think you need a percussion instrument

if you want it to go--

Uh, "Boom, boom?"

Uh-oh.

[Tympani playing loudly][Gil screaming]

[Guppies laughing]

Hey, everybody.

Let's go play in an orchestra!

GUPPIES: Field trip!

Do you want to come see us play in an orchestra?

Great! Come on!

[Instruments tuning]

[Audience applauding]

[Tapping]

[Orchestra playing]



[Spaceship droning]

[All gasping]

Onto the next song, yah?

One, and two...

[Conductor chuckling]Come on, now.

One, two, three...

CONDUCTOR: Play your instruments, please.

Flying saucer!

I've got to get my camera!

What do you think they want?

I don't know.

[Spaceship playing four notes]

I think they want to play music with us.

Hold your French horns!

Uh-oh, we lost our conductor![All gasping]

We can't play together without a conductor.

[Spaceship whirring]



He's a conductor!

From outer space!

Yeah, but where's his baton?

[Baton zapping]

GOBY AND GIL: Awesome!

[Baton whirring electronically]

[Upbeat classical music playing]





[Audience cheering]

[Camera clicking]

That concert was wonderful, wasn't it, Gilly?

Yeah, orchestras are awesome!

[Giggling]
