Come on, follow us!

Hello!

Hi!

Hi there!

Hi!

Good morning, Mr. Grouper!

Well, good morning, everyone.

Welcome to the rainforest.

The rainforest?

What's a rainforest?

A rainforest is a forest

where it's very hot and rains a lot.

And there are millions of animals there!

Like sloths and monkeys and butterflies

and frogs and lizards and parrots and toucans!

[Mr. Grouper] That's right.

Do you see any animals in our rainforest?

There's a sloth.

And there's a jaguar!

[roars]

There's a frog.

Ribbit.

What about you?

Do you see any animals?

Yeah! There are a lot of different animals.

Let's think some more about the rainforest!

The Amazon rainforest is the largest rainforest

in the world, home to millions of animals,

bugs and...

Trees.

Trees! That's right!

Some of those trees can grow up to feet tall!

There are thousands of different animals

that live in those trees, like parrots, frogs, and...

Monkeys!

Yep. Nine different types of monkeys live there.

The rainforest is very hot.

It's also very wet because there's lots and lots of...

Rain!

Yep! Rain!

You should bring your umbrella,

because it rains almost every day in the rainforest.

The Amazon rainforest is really cool!

Let's sing about it!

We're umbrella sellers!

And we're going to sell umbrellas

in the Amazon rainforest!

[thunder claps]

Once upon a time...

...deep in the Amazon, there were two umbrella sellers

who were on their way

to sell their umbrellas in rainforest.

Isn't this great, Gilly?

Yeah, if you like hot, buggy, rainforests.

Hey, Captain, how much farther?

Shouldn't be long now.

What'd you say you two were planning to do again?

We're going to sell umbrellas!

Everyone in the rainforest should have an umbrella!

Uh... Yup.

I'll be sure to take you to the rainiest part then.

Great. Then we'll be able to sell all of these umbrellas!

And then go right back home to the city.

Ugh! Shoo!

Ugh!

What's all that stuff?

This? Bug spray.

That's sunscreen, some more bug spray,

lion spray...

Gilly, I told you, there aren't any lions

in the rainforest.

She's not lyin'.

[all laugh]

[Goby] So they continued on into the rainiest

part of the rainforest...

Here we are!

There should be a good spot in there

to set up your umbrella stand.

Real rainy around here!

Bug!

Lotta bugs around here, too.

Better get used to it.

There are a lot of insects in the rainforest!

Oh, we're not going to be here long.

We'll be back just as soon as we sell our umbrellas.

Okie dokie.

See you soon, friends!

[Goby] So the umbrellas sellers set up their stand

and got ready to sell their umbrellas.

[thunder claps]

Did you hear that?

I think it's going to rain!

Good.

Let's sell these umbrellas as fast as we can

and then we can go home.

[monkey grunts]

What was that?

I don't know!

It sounded like a lion.

Gilly, there aren't any lions in the rainforest!

Then what made that sound?

I don't know but-

[monkey grunts]

Molly, look! Our umbrellas are gone!

Oh no!

[monkey grunts]

All right, that's it!

Ew...

I'm outta here.

Gilly, wait!

[monkey grunts]

Well, that didn't take long!

You sold all those umbrellas already?

Not exactly.

Take us back to the city, please.

We'd like to go deeper into the rainforest, please!

What? No we don't!

Some animal out there just took our umbrellas!

Yeah! So we gotta get them back!

How are we going to find them?

The rainforest is huge!

Biggest rainforest in the world.

See?

But... I think I know someone who might be able to help you.

Okay.

[Goby] And so, the umbrella sellers

journeyed deeper into the rainforest

to find out who took their umbrellas.

This is my friend Zooli's place.

She's an animal expert!

Hello! Zooli?

Hello...

Huh, I guess she's not here.

She's probably out in the rainforest studying animals.

Look at all these drawings!

Yeah, there's a lot of animals in the Amazon rainforest,

and Zooli likes to draw 'em.

Uhhh... What's that?

[Deema] Oh, that's a caiman.

They're related to alligators.

Yikes.

[Deema] And those are poison dart frogs-

Uhh...

[Deema] Ooh, and that's an anaconda!

Ehhh...

What kind of animal took your umbrellas?

Well, we didn't see it, but it made a really weird,

loud noise.

Loud, huh?

Well, I know for a fact that these three animals

are all really loud!

A bare-throated bell bird,

a howler monkey,

and here's a cicada.

Echhh,cicadas.

Your umbrellas were probably taken

by one of these animals.

Well, we've certainly come to the right place!

You said it, sister!

We need your help!

Which animal sound did you hear

when our umbrellas were taken?

This one?

[bird chirps]

This one?

[monkey grunts]

Or this one?

[cicada buzzes]

The howler monkey!

[monkey grunts]

Right!

That was the sound we heard!

Thanks for your help!

The animal that took our umbrellas was a howler monkey.

Ooh, howler monkeys are the largest

and loudest monkeys in the rainforest!

Great.

Now we just have to find them,

and then we can get our umbrellas back!

Well, I know there's a troop of howler monkeys

that lives somewhere up river?

[Goby] The umbrella sellers went deeper into the rainforest

[Gil] There are trees made out of rubber?

No, rubber trees are where rubber comes from.

People use it to make things like rubber bands

and sneakers and even chewing gum!

-Woah! -Cool!

The rubber tree we saw your umbrellas in

is way over there, above the falls.

Just look for these leaves and you'll find the tree!

We need your help!

This is a leaf from a rubber tree.

It's a rubber tree!

Thanks for your help!

Here, use these binoculars!

[Molly] There's the rubber tree.

And there are the Howler Monkeys!

Thank you!

Good luck finding your umbrellas!

[Goby] And so, the umbrellas sellers set out

toward the falls to find that rubber tree

and their umbrellas.

Hey, Molly.

[monkey grunts]

Yeah, let's go home...

Oh, hi there!

Hi.

What's the matter?

Well, we came all the way here to the rainforest

to sell umbrellas but some howler monkeys took them.

Those were your umbrellas?

Oh, silly monkeys!

I'm sorry!

The howler monkeys worry about me

because I'm always out here in the rain forest getting wet.

You could have really used one of our umbrellas.

Well, I can't use an umbrella

because I can't hold it.

I need both hands to do my drawings.

What do the howler monkeys do when it rains?

Oh, they just get under some big leaves

to keep them dry.

Leaves to keep them dry...

Hey, Gilly!

That gives me an idea!

We could make you a hat out of these leaves!

That would be great!

And we can call it...

The Umbrella Hat!

[Goby] And so, Molly and Gil made umbrella hats

for everyone in the rainforest.
