02x13 - Betrayal of Stratos

and defender of the secrets of Castle Grayskull.

This is Cringer, my fearless friend.

Fabulous secret powers were revealed to me

the day I held aloft my magic sword and said,

[zapping]

Cringer became the mighty Battle Cat

and I became He-Man,

the most powerful man in the universe.

[booming]

Only three others share this secret,

our friends The Sorceress,

Man-At-Arms, and Orko.

Together we defend Castle Grayskull

from the evil forces of Skeletor.

[maniacal laughter]

[eerie music]

[upbeat music]

[whooshing]

[Stratos] Hawke!

Stratos, what are you doing here?

Just checking on a force field generator. Something the matter?

No, I was just on my way to do the same thing.

Well, I'll leave the maintenance

of our equipment to the professionals then.

I don't mean to do your job for you.

Well, after all, you are the leader.

[whooshing]

Everything secure?

It's quiet as can be out there.

[sirens wailing]

No, wait. Skeletor.

Is he crazy, nothing can get through our force fields.

Nothing could get through our force fields

but they aren't working.

What, the defenses are down?

Our defense shields have failed.

We'll have to fight Skeletor without them.

We've already begun. Good.

[suspenseful music]

[Stratos] Somebody deliberately smashed it.

Onward, onward, victory is ours.

-[whooshing] -Release it.

[thwacking]

[growls]

Smoke screen, fire.

[zapping]

[booms]

[growling]

It's impossible.

We can't get through that smoke.

You imbeciles, you should've acted faster.

Those birdbrains have something I want.

So, Stratos, you wrecked our defenses.

[zapping]

Today we were nearly defeated by Skeletor and why?

Because our defenses failed because of you, Stratos.

[bird people grumbling]

You don't understand, I was trying to repair the generator not wreck it.

That's what you say now.

Who else but our glorious leader

would've had such easy access

to the heart of Avion's defenses?

[bird people grumbling]

Bird people, there can be only

one punishment for such treachery.

Being sent away is a cruel punishment.

After a few days away from the Egg of Avion

[bird people yelling]

for the safety of Avion, how could they do this to me?

I've been flying for hours, I'll rest in this forest.

[eerie music]

I like to see nature close up, far from the city.

Stratos, hey, he's in trouble.

[Orko] Yike.

I was just in the neighborhood and thought I'd drop in.

[whooshing]

[Orko] It's still coming.

That creature's not evil.

I invaded its nest by accident.

Orko, do you know the old saying,

honey works better than vinegar?

[squawking]

[zooms]

I think we've made a friend for life.

But tell me, Stratos, how did you get into this predicament?

My predicament is worse than you know, He-Man.

I have been exiled from Avion.

[Orko] What in the world for?

Today Skeletor att*cked the city.

Our defense shield was sabotaged and I was blamed.

Do you know what exile means to a bird person?

I will lose the power of flight.

Of course, you'll be outside

the range of the Egg of Avion's power.

My only hope of saving my wings

is to find the real culprit and restore my good name.

[He-Man] But who would've done such a terrible thing in the first place?

[Stratos] I don't know but everyone's against me,

[Stratos] I'm very grateful, He-Man.

This time we shall not fail.

It's Skeletor, have they finished

repairing the defense shields?

No, we must man the defenses.

[whooshing]

Fire smoke screens.

Now all of our defenses have been sabotaged.

[laughs] Nothing can stop me now.

[creaking]

It's done, the Egg of Avion is mine.

Soon we'll all have wings.

He has the egg, we're doomed.

But who sabotaged our equipment?

It couldn't have been Stratos.

Have you seen Hawke?

I've looked everywhere, she's gone.

[suspenseful music]

[Stratos] The egg is gone, we're too late.

[Orko] We've gotta go to Snake Mountain and get it back.

I'll bet you anything Skeletor's hidden the egg

and he'll keep it hidden until the bird people

have lost the ability to fly.

Then it could be anywhere on the planet.

How will we ever find it?

There's only way.

We need the help of The Sorceress.

To Castle Grayskull.

[dramatic music]

Yes, He-Man, I had suspected

something was amiss in Avion.

From what you have told me,

I believe I know where Skeletor

may have hidden the Egg of Avion.

A short while ago I sensed a tremendous amount

of energy coming, coming from the demon zone.

[Orko] The demon zone, eh, sounds scary.

Indeed, Orko. It is the lair of Skeletor's ally, Whiplash.

Whiplash? Then that must be where Skeletor's hidden the egg.

[The Sorceress] I believe so.

But how do we get there?

There is only one entrance to the demon zone,

the Mountains of Doom.

At the foot of the highest mountain,

you will find the gateway to the demon zone

but open the door with care, He-Man,

you must not let any of the demons escape.

[zapping]

[eerie music]

[He-Man] There's the entrance,

just as The Sorceress said.

[Orko] What do we do now, say open sesame?

[creaking]

I'll have to force it.

[booms]

[Orko] Hey, wait for me.

[creaking]

[rattling]

-He-Man. -[Stratos] The door.

I'll have to smash it.

Wait, remember what The Sorceress said.

That's right, we can't risk releasing any of the demons.

Orko, you'll have to wait for us.

[Orko] Okay, I'll guard the wind raider or something.

Let's get moving.

Kraal, king of demons, why have you summoned me?

[crackling]

You guard the Egg of Avion for Skeletor, do you not?

[Kraal] You might be interested to know

that He-Man and Stratos are here, now,

in the demon zone seeking the egg.

[laughing] Why not take care of the lot of them.

Beware, Whiplash, we only have the power

to open the door to the world above us twice each year.

will deal with that half pint sorcerer, Orko.

The Egg of Avion could be anywhere in this maze.

I wonder why this place is called the demon zone?

I haven't seen any demons.

It's been nothing but smooth sailing so far.

[Orko sighs] This sure is dull.

[rattles]

[suspenseful music]

[Orko] Phew, all clear.

-[hisses] -[yells]

[chuckles]

[laughs] So, He-Man, you've come to pay me a visit?

I've come to return the Egg of Avion

to its rightful owners.

You won't get it, stay back.

[booms]

Come on, He-Man.

[Whiplash] Let me go.

[thuds]

I'll take care of this.

[cracks]

[groans]

[zapping]

[Orko] Help, let me alone, you snake in the grass.

[squawking]

[upbeat triumphant music]

Boy, am I glad to see you.

[squawking]

I wish He-Man would get back.

-[shivers] -What's the matter?

As a bird man, I've got a thing about cages.

I was captured, when Skeletor att*cked Avion.

[Stratos] But what would he want with you?

I, I don't know, please.

Just help me get free.

Why don't you admit it, Hawke.

It was you who sabotaged Avion's defenses.

You made a deal with him, didn't you?

No wonder you were so quick to accuse me.

Skeletor had me bring the egg to this place

but instead of the riches he promised,

he made me one of his precious pets.

Which is what you deserve

for betraying the people of Avion.

Well, let's get you free.

After the crimes she's committed?

Everyone deserves a second chance, Stratos,

and besides right now we need all the help we can get.

Once we've return the Egg of Avion,

Hawke can face the justice of the bird people.

If you'll help me get free,

I'll take you to where they're hiding the egg.

You'll just double cross us again.

I want to make up for the wrong I've done.

I'll gladly accept whatever punishment

the bird people feel is fair.

[upbeat triumphant music]

Now to find that muscle headed moron.

[suspenseful music]

I can feel my powers of flight returning.

We must be near the egg.

The egg is in the next chamber

but it's guarded by one of Whiplash's pets.

Good grief.

Let's grab it while that thing's still asleep.

[screeches]

Too late, you two distract it and I'll grab the egg.

[whooshing]

[zooms]

You think you've won, don't you?

Well you've lost, if Skeletor can't have the egg,

neither can Avion, this m*ssile's programmed

to seek it out and destroy it.

[zooming]

[rumbling]

So much for your m*ssile, Whiplash.

Wait, Whiplash, let them go.

[Whiplash] Why?

Because, you fool, the only way out for them

is to break through the door to the other world.

We will have total freedom

to spread our evil to the world above.

[Hawke] What now?

Remember what The Sorceress said, we can't break the door.

[He-Man] We have no choice.

[Orko] He-Man, you made it.

Yes, with trouble right behind us.

[rumbles]

[squawking]

If our friend can force that dragon

back down the hole, I think I can reseal it.

[roars]

[grunts]

[rumbling]

That oughta keep those demons down where they belong.

Now, let's get this back to where it belongs.

I accused Stratos of sabotage,

but it was I who betrayed you.

[bird people grumbling]

[Bird Person] Yeah, we want Stratos.

[Bird Person] Banish her.

No, banishment is too cruel for any bird person.

Hawke has seen the error of her ways.

-She helped save the egg. -She has my trust.

But she will be stripped of all rank

and placed on punishment detail

until she has earned yours again.

Bird people of Avion, our precious egg has returned

and with it we have a new friend and protector.

[squawking]

And let us give thanks to our best friend, He-Man.

[bird people cheering]

Today Stratos of Avion learned the true value of forgiveness.

When someone does something we don't like,

it can be hard to forgive.

It's at times like these that we must remember,

everyone deserves a second chance.

We all make mistakes and when we do,

it's nice to have a friend who

will understand and give us another chance.

Right, my friend?

[Orko] Right.
