Now we can make up our own puppet story.

Hey, Blue.

Do you want to see a story?

[barks excitedly]

All right, so, um, this'll be the story

of the day Handy met Sock Puppet.

Okay, so every time I say "Handy,"

you make your puppet Handy say "Hello."

Ready?

All right.

[clears throat]

Once, there was a puppet named Handy.

Go ahead, make Handy say "Hello."

[barks "hello"]

Hello.

And a puppet named Sock Puppet.

Hello.

Now, they were both kind of lonely.

[sighs]

Until one day, Handy...

[barks "hello"]

Hello.

Met Sock Puppet.

Hello.

And they became puppet friends.

Hey, you're kind of nice.

You know, I think we should be friends.

The end.

[laughs]: That was great.

Great puppet acting.

[barks]

What? You think we should tell a different story?

What story should we tell?

[barking]

Great idea.

We'll play "Blue's Clues" to figure out

what story Blue wants us to tell with our puppets.

[music begins]

♪ We are gonna play Blue's Clues ♪

♪ 'Cause it's a really great game! ♪

So remember, Blue's paw print will be on the clues.

[barks]

Blue wants us to tell with our puppets.

So, what story could Blue want us to tell with our puppets

Maybe, but I think we should find more Blue's Clues

to figure this out.

[bell ringing]

Hey, what are you doing?

We're telling a story with our paper bag puppets.

But we're having a little trouble acting it out.

Well, let's see.

What do you look like when you're happy?

[chuckles]: That's a good happy face.

Now let's try to sound happy.

So, how could you sound happy and say "I love bananas"?

[happily]: Ilove bananas!

Yeah, I love bananas!

Great happy voice.

Let me try it.

The purple puppet's favorite snack was bananas, too.

But he didn't have any.

The purple puppet said...

I have no bananas.

In a sad voice.

I'm not sure how to make a sad voice with my puppet.

All right, let's see.

What do you look like when you're sad?

Oh.

That's a sad face.

Okay, so, now let's try to sound sad.

How could you sound sad and say "I have no bananas"?

[sadly]: I have no bananas.

[sadly]: I have no bananas.

Wow, yeah, that's a sad voice.

The mail's here.

Let's go.

♪ Here's the mail, it never fails ♪

♪ It makes me want to wag my tail ♪

♪ When it comes, I want to wail, "Mail!" ♪

Always wanted to do that.

[sighs]

Ooh, nice puppet voice, Mailbox.

What's a puppeteer?

A puppeteer is the person

who makes the puppets talk and move

to tell a story.

That's very interesting.

Hey, we've been making

our puppets talk and move all day.

Do you want to be the puppeteers

in Storybook's story?

Great!

Sure, we'd love to be

the puppeteers, Storybook.

Wonderful!

I'll tell my story,

and you can use your puppets

to act it out.

Once upon a time, there was a little dragon.

Ooh.

Do you like my dragon costume?

[pretends to roar]

[laughs]

The dragon was looking for apples

high up in the trees.

Steve... I think I'm going to need some help here.

So, how should we move our puppets

to make them look for apples high up in the trees?

[snoring]

so you can see the apples.

Suddenly the dragon came upon a sleeping giant.

[giant snoring]

The dragon moved past the giant

being careful not to wake him up.

Steve?

So, how could we move our puppets

to get past the giant without waking him up?

Let me try something.

[clears throat]

Well, could you show us with Handy

which movement would help us

get past the giant without waking him up?

Oh, yeah.

Tiptoe, like this:

I got past the giant without waking him up.

Then the dragon came to a river

that he had to get across.

So, how should we move our puppets to get across the river?

Right, our thinking chair.

Let's go.

Okay, now that we're in our thinking chair, let's think.

You will help, right?

Great.

So, we're trying to figure out

what story Blue wants to tell with our puppets,

and our clues are: a boy...

a really tall plant...

and... a giant.

Well, maybe the boy planted something

and the plant grew really, really tall.

But what about the giant?

Oh, yeah, maybe the giant lived at the top of the plant

and the boy climbed up to visit him.

What story would that be?

"Jack and the Beanstalk."

"Jack and the Beanstalk," that's it.

Blue wants us to tell the story of "Jack and the Beanstalk."

We just figured out Blue's clues.

[music begins]

That bean grew into a really, really tall plant.

One day, Sock decided to climb the beanstalk.

[clears throat]

Oh, look, there is a castle...

in the sky... with a door.

Let us knock.

So Sock knocked on the door.

[knocking]

It's time for our giant line.

[loud and low]: Fee, fie, foe, fum. [loud and low]: Fee, fie, foe, fum.

We are the giant of this castle.

Who planted that beanstalk?

It was me.

STORYBOOK: The giant was so happy to have a visitor.

Welcome. Will you be my friend?

Sure.

You can come up and visit

whenever you want.
