But I knew.

Then who?

A man passing through town.

I was young. I made a mistake.

And I've been living with
that mistake for a long time.

I tried to raise him on my own.

I tried. I really did. But I couldn't.

I left him at the church.
Safe surrender.

I couldn't imagine
a colder, sadder place

for a little baby to be than in my arms.

If you gave him up, why is he here?

Tell him, Sunny.
Just... tell him everything.

(SIGHING)

Walter wound up with a family
that treated him really bad.

They hurt him.

I had a second chance to give
him what I never could before.

I was gonna be a mother to him.

So I hid him away.

And at least I gave him
a safe place to call home.

I protected him!

(SNIFFLES) I have a brother.

(BREATHES SHARPLY)

And you've lied to me all these years.

SUNNY: Yes, you do.

Yes, I did. I know that.

I was wrong.

But I did it for a reason.

They think he k*lled
those people, right?

Yeah, they think he did, but
I don't think that's the truth.

He confessed to it, and
they found blood in his cabin.

That was the backpacker's blood.

It was Paige's blood.

What?

CORMAC: Cassie told me.

Maybe now you'll believe me.

Walter did it, Sunny.

You just need to accept it and
figure out a way to say goodbye.

You got what you wanted, son.

Now, I'm begging you...
Do not blow up this family.

We spent damn near years
covering this secret.

Don't make it for nothing.

He's a k*ller.

You've... You've let him roam free.

People would be alive
if it weren't for you.

Whatever we did, it's over.

Nothing we can take back, son.

Nothing.

Most of life's about what
you're willing to live with.

(DOOR CLOSES)

Evening, Frank.

I was worried the cops would've
picked you clean by now.

They found a bunch of
stolen cash and jewelry.

Mentioned the theft accusations
from last season.

I know what you've been doing,
Coop, with Brett and my son.

Frank, I don't know what you...

You gotta read me in here.

I need you to be honest with me.

Did you k*ll Brett?

Brett was a liability,
a disloyal loose end.

What about my son?

Your son d*ed in a fire,
and it was all Brett's fault.

I did us both a favor by k*lling him.

You know what I think?

I think my boy had a change of heart

and went against you
and your little plan.

And I think you k*lled him
up there to keep his mouth shut!

- No, Frank, no.
- I know. And so do they.

What the hell did you do, Frank?

Are you wearing a wire?

He's b*rned. We gotta move.

All units, we're moving in.

(GRUNTS)

- Frank!
- Hey!

You k*lled my son!

(SIRENS WAILING)

- Stop it.
- (COUGHING)

- Stop.
- (TIRES SCREECH)

JENNY: We could've finished
this last night,

but you had to go back
for the stolen goods, huh?

- (HANDCUFFS CLICKING)
- Help me.

(RADIO CHATTER)

(VOICE BREAKING) He k*lled my son.

BEAU: I know.

Come on.

Goodbye, my sweet boy.

Lord, please take care of him.

CASSIE: Hello?

(g*n UNHOLSTERS, COCKS)

(DOOR CREAKING)

CASSIE: Hello?

Anybody here?

Hello?

What the hell is this?

Oh! You just missed the sh**ting star!

Here you go.

Nice. Thank you.

Yeah. One of many.

You okay?

(CHUCKLES)

I was just thinking about today.

You know, Frank would've
done anything for his son.

I mean anything. No matter what.

I would do anything for mine.

And you would do anything for Emily.

Yeah, that's just it.

It just doesn't feel like
I'm there for her.

She found a dead body, Jenny.

And that stepfather of hers
is... questionable at best.

And I just... I don't... I don't
know what to do about it.

I don't like that.

(BREATHES DEEPLY)

Emily's a good kid.

She's strong.

She is strong because you
and Carla taught her to be.

Just...

(HAND PATS)

...give yourself a break.

For movie night. At least.

Yeah. All right.

- Cheers.
- (BOTTLES CLINK)

Speaking of, where is Cassie?
Did she get lost?

Uh, I don't know.

She could be distracted
by a certain someone.

Who? Cormac? Ooh!

You got some juicy details
you want to share?

Ooh. I don't know. Are we jealous?

- (VEHICLE DOOR OPENS)
- No, but interested.

- What's happening?
- (VEHICLE DOOR CLOSES)

- Oh, speak of the devil.
- Hey.

How'd it go with our mystery man?

It's not a mystery anymore.

What?

His name's Walter.
