by
Nick oh nice save Norine out of bounds
go guys you got it Em's trying to smack
it KY just kind of CH it noran's gotten
it oh it's in the middle Emily just made
a nice little whack right there em come
on
Emily got
it we'll leave that
so all right you guys still here zero oh
nice save by Nick good job
Nick oh nice block
oh I think that counts because it went
out of the
line oh nice block oh that
count so that means our winners are
the great game you have guys
[Music]
Zeno hey guys check out this cool book
that L of Brit New Jersey sent us she
sent us pictures and instructions on how
to make shaving cream paper it's all
over this book that must have taken her
so long to make I know she even cut out
the zoom letters zoomo very good
ell oh she cut it out to make hearts see
this is her a it's cute okay and it says
W she even took her time to make a book
that's great Ellie she says okay she
says supplies and then she says step one
put some saving cream into a disposable
baking tin all right all right we got
our shaving cream uh-oh uh-oh okay next
smooth the shaving cream with the
cardboard piece of cardboard all right
okay kind of like you're um doing the
frosting on yeah like you're frosting on
tape exactly all right love that smell
not a shaver yet but I love
this all right drop some drops of liquid
water color or or food color coloring
onto the shaving cream what color you
think you want to use let's use red
yellow and blue cuz it like the primary
color red yellow and blue all right we
mix red and yellow we get orange that
would be blue we get purple
and one make sure you do it like
different places
[Music]
though and this
red all right what's next and then she
says stir the colors around the fork all
right oh you can say you can make swirls
stripes or checkerboard pattern okay so
let's you say what do you say we do how
like like wavy all
right you probably shouldn't mix it too
much cuz it'll get all stupid it'll get
all muddy
looking and don't go too deep cuz then
the shaving cream will come to the top
and you mostly have white okay that good
that's cool looking already we're not
even done all right place a piece of
paper on top of that shaving cream okay
all right
nice and then gently press down until
you can see the pattern coming through I
see it oh I'm starting to see it just a
little cool not too much don't press too
hard though then too much shaving cream
will get under the paper okay okay and
ever so gently peel off the
paper wow that's so
cool check that
out so cool can't wait to see what it
looks like when the St thing place the
paper shaving cream up on a flat surface
all right let's move out of the way so
we can use I'll use that and I'll move
off the shaving
cream scrape the shaving cream off the
paper using a piece of cardboard all
right you can take that side okay don't
go too hard yeah so don't want the Dy
yeah just the shaving cream that looks
so awesome
W oh I really don't like that sound oh
like nail on a chalkboard yeah s chills
up my
B
wow look at that she must taken a really
long time to make that book that's
awesome that's devotion right there and
then she says put it somewhere to dry so
how about we put it right here all right
all right and we can make more by
repeating the steps you want to make
some more absolutely okay let's try like
different patterns this time okay so get
the TR add some more shaving cream onto
it so we can cover up the other yeah
cover up the old ones
yeah what different things could you do
using shaving cream paper go to the zoom
website at PBF kids.org and let us know
this is awesome right now I got smooth
right smooth it out

a flashlight comes in handy on a camping
trip during a power outage or if you're
on a deserted island but what if you
don't have a
flashlight well Tana from M of
Massachusetts challenged us to make our
own homemade flashlight but she didn't
tell us exactly what materials we needed
so we're going to take apart these store
flashlights to try to help us figure it
out if you screw up the cat oh you can
even see right there that there's a bulb
right at the top and then on the back
side the back yeah in the back you can
see that it connects all the things
together so why I just dump that out put
that down all right oh there's two
batteries two batteries and the positive
side which has the Lum connects to the
negative side of the other battery which
doesn't have big LP the big lump on top
and inside it you can see there's metal
wire there and there's also a little
metal stick in there and that's connect
to the switch yes and the switch is sort
of like the brain of the operation
because when it's flicked up it touches
the metal part of the bulb which is
connected to the bulb and it lets the
electricity run through yep and it turns
on the light so Som have the wire must
touch the two batteries which will touch
the middle rod and when you flip the
switch up turns the light on so that's
kind of like the circuit all right let's
go to the drawing board so what type of
container yeah yeah well I think one
most similar to that would be a toilet
paper tube yeah cuz that's kind of
similar to this bottom part right here
how do you think we would get this
little Arch it kind of goes out we could
cut a strip of cardboard yeah and then
it works all right we might have have to
put a circle underneath it too so
nothing falls out all right yeah so
that's filled
in what do you want as the reflective
surface up here oh plastic glass that's
good one cuz this isn't exactly glass
this is easy to T yeah it's kind of like
that's plastic I think also you need a
reflective surface and the light can go
off in all directions we could probably
even use like tin foil or alumin of foil
lining in there cuz that would reflect
the light even better yep and then
inside we're going to need two batteries
as our power
source and then how about the wire
though how are we going to connect I
don't know just lumz you can do a big
like lump of it head and then also about
the bulb what if made a little hole and
stck it there hole right there and have
the bulb come up here and then the
switch I mean it has to connect the when
you move it up yeah it has to connect
something to the aluminum foil at the
bottom and to the metal part of the
light bulb at the top maybe if we went
like this so there's a paper clip like
that and there was a big piece of
aluminum foil like that that connects to
connect to the bottom when you pull it
up it tightens right up and a piece up
here connects to the foil up top so it
goes up and down down and up okay that's
TR so we're going to go gather the
materials that we think we need and keep
watching cuz later in the show we're
going to try to build a flashlight that
actually
works hey
[Music]
y who W that Zombie Race uh I don't know
it was dead even oh
[Music]
yeah hi I'm I'm C and I'm camping just a
few miles from where I live here at the
base of the grand ton the reason I'm
camping is because I want to get an
early start rock climbing today cuz
that's what we're going to do ready
let's go today I'm going to climb one of
the Rock Springs buttresses it's
basically a big rock Bas but first we
have to hike up to it which is still a
lot of fun I've always lived in
mountains I was born in a great Mountain
place and then I moved to the Himalayas
for 2 years and now I live here it's
fantastic hi part is also a lot of fun I
like to look at all the animals and the
wild flowers and it's always changing
especially this time of year the wild
flowers are
[Music]
great this is where the fun po begins
we're going to do the actual climbing
here with the
Rope you need some gear for climbing
first the helmet which is probably the
most important your head safe second
shoes these are special rubber shoes
that stick under the rock very well and
harness to keep you in the Rope so you
don't fall this is the chalk it helps
your hand stay dry when when they get
sweaty so you don't slip off the rock
safety is important so my dad's got off
above me so if I slip um he'll catch me
with the Rope you could call that bay
he's my safety guy now before you start
climbing you always say am I on ble
you're on playet that's what he says
inur then I start
climbing climbing
[Music]
[Music]
I think I might grab onto this
but then I'm having a problem with my
feet too your feet are more important
than your hands people usually think
that you always pull up with your hands
you usually push up with your feet more
than you pull up with your
[Music]
hands that's on a rock Dad yeah can you
give me some slet St on a little mu
there I got
[Music]
it I think I can do
[Music]
it made it made it to the top
[Music]
I like at the top because the view is so
nice and I can see everything down there
and then when I get to the bottom I can
tell everyone that I climbed up to here
and I think that's just really cool
climbing mountains is a lot of fun but
going down is a real
glass ready to
lower
[Music]
bye hey Kyle
yes when's a basketball player like a
baby when when he
dribbles
[Music]
basketball earlier in the show we took
apart a flashlight to help us design our
own homemade flashlight then we gathered
the materials that we thought we'd need
and now we're ready to start building
cool so the flow of electricity will go
through this aluminum foil at the base
and through this Rod of aluminum foil
through the battery through the next
battery up into the metal part of the
bulb down through this Rod of aluminum
foil through the paper clip through this
strand of aluminum foil and then back
around and around again and that it'll
turn on the light but if the switch is
pulled down that piece of an aluminum
foil is going to disconnect the circuit
because it's not going to be connected
to this at the top but when it's pulled
up it's connected and the light goes on
all right let's try to build okay which
one of these two tooths do you want to
use I think this one is really small
cuz these already take up the entire
roll I don't I think this one I think
this one's a bit too long too B cut
it measure it
yeah okay
so about this cardboard I think maybe it
would be too hard to what if we just use
these little cups all right cuz fits
perfectly yeah it does fit perfectly all
right so do you want me to line one of
them with aluminum foil so it can
reflect off this
light do you want to put tape around it
so
they around the outside around the
outside I got here
y so now we have the reflective part how
do we put the bulb in there we have to
put a hole at the bottom okay so but
just stick it all the way in rotate it
but if it's too bite fall out
true that work oh beautiful all right
that came out really well so now we have
to we forgot to put the plastic WP on
the top so let's
just all right
let's no let's tape it
[Music]
again oh just made it oh boy all right
is it do you think it'll matter though
if the top isn't exactly flat I think
it'll be all right okay all right top
but we also need to have a base so I
think we should cut out a piece of
cardboard just cut it then what we need
what do we need to do next I'll tape
some aluminum foil onto it go like
that oh that's nice should we add the
foil this little lump thing right here
yeah we we can make that little
roll and have a
connect okay right here yeah we need
tape okay okay so this is our base but
how are we get if the battery's on top
of it it's going to squash it isn't it
well yeah but if we tape it and it'll
still be connected oh it doesn't matter
I understand yep take that
on which side the negative
right lump three
side then look now even if it does go
like it's always going to be connected
yep okay just as good let's just see if
the see if it works all right so we have
to those are connected now I have to
bring this
up from down
there
oops is it on yeah it's on oh it's
working but there be light there isn't
much of it but it's working yeah that's
cool but now we need to make the switch
how you do
that so then that's attached to the
paper and this is on the other side this
is going to be on the other side here
connect this to the
top okay you know what I just really
realized is that it'd be so much more
efficient if we had this paperclip
connect to this
end instead of of the tin foil instead
of having this try to connect to there
so we could probably take that this end
of the tin foil up here and when you
pull up the switch it touches that okay
compl the circuit take that then all
right so one we with two batteries try
this this would be crazy if this work oh
oh oh my gosh it's a cor
brigher wow how did that happen that's
awesome that's
crazy okay we need to somehow make this
at the perfect length so we want this to
be short enough so that when we Jam this
in it's going to connect right to the
end of the battery so let just here at
the little white line C right at the
white
line right that should be all
right all perfect ready Let's Jam
it Jam yes yes yes all right can you
help me out can you hold that wait are
you sure it works before you tape
it try it right there Ready set
go okay
ready oh
yes all right we get the lights
flashlight on off on off on off on off
all all
right when the switch is turned on it
makes a complete circuit electricity
travels through the battery the wires
and the bulb and the light turns on when
the switch is off the circuit is broken
and electricity can't flow to light the
bulb what other kind of tools could you
make could you rig up a doorbell on your
bedroom door whatever your idea is try
them out and send them tov
I volunteer by collecting cans and
bottles and then donating the money to
help the Homer the first thing I do is
collect all the recyclables in our house
stuff like detergent bottles soda can
and the dec and then I rinse them out
with water next everything gets stored
in a big plastic garbage bag then about
once a month my parents help me take
everything down to the store where they
give us 5 cents for every Canon bottle
we return return I make about $6 a month
which I keep in a money box then once
I've saved up about $20 I give it to the
Goodwill because they help the homeless
in my neighborhood do you volunteer in
your community if you do you're already
