At least the popcorn was good.

Coach Kelly should've called a time-out

after Coolidge missed that free throw.

Coach Kelly. Remember his last year,

when he lost his pen during gym class?

He made us walk up and down
the football field

for half an hour, trying to find it.

And the whole time,
it was behind his ear.

[LAUGHS] You guys wanna come over?

I have gummies.

I told my mom I'd help her make dinner.

I'll drop you off.

I got a bio test first period, so.

Cool, cool. See you tomorrow.

[EERIE MUSIC]

Kai's been doing a lot of weed.

His dad gets it for him.

- Seriously?
- Yep.

Ever since the dispensary opened.

His dad thinks it's safer
if he gets it at home

than from some sketch dealer.

[SCOFFS]

Hey.

We should stop and help him, right?

Uh, yeah, I guess.

Hi, Ma? I might be a little late.

We're helping a man with car troubles.

No, don't worry.

He's, like, a minister or something.

Ah, thank you for stopping.

Yeah, no worries. What's going on?

Uh, I just seem
to be stuck in the ditch here.

Can't seem to get back on the road here.

Um, okay.

Well, we can try to give you a push.

Oh, that would be great.

Oh, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey!

Oh.

Hey, would you mind giving us a hand?

Sure. I'd be happy to.

- Thanks.
- Oh, God bless.

Thanks so much.

Yeah, thank you.

- On three?
- Yeah.

[LAUGHING]

Give us your phones.

- Oh, my God. Okay, okay.
- Now.

- Give me your phone!
- Man, get off!

- Move!
- Okay, okay!

- Go on, get in the van.
- In!

- What do you want?
- In!

Okay, okay.

Okay, okay.

What do you want? Please!

What do you want? What do you want...

Quiet, little lambs,

or we'll slaughter you both.

[SHAKILY] Oh, my God.

[GASPING]

No, please! Please!

I've been diagnosed
with stage III liver cancer.

Lost pounds so far.

Feel so weak,
I can hardly get out of bed.

And my stomach?

Well, it just hurts all the time.

I'm suffering with this,

suffering bad.

So please, I pray
that you'll let me go home

so I can spend my last time
on this Earth

as a free man.

Mr. Davis, if we grant this request,

can we trust you won't resort
to criminal activity again?

I'm too damn sick to break any laws.

And just so you know,

I didn't k*ll that young man,

same as I told everybody years ago.

I understand we have
a member of the victim's family

who wishes to speak.

Sir, please state your name
for the record

and your relationship to the victim.

I'm Remy Scott,
the older brother of Mr. Davis' victim,

Michael Scott.

Thank you.

You may proceed.

[QUIET DRAMATIC MUSIC]

My brother was...

just when he was m*rder*d
in Fort Lauderdale.

Mikey was...

he was the golden child of our family:

intelligent, funny, kind,

not to mention a world-class pitcher.

His m*rder devastated me

and my sister, Claire.

Our parents were never the same

after he came home from spring break

in a casket.

Mikey was the reason
I became an FBI agent.

I'm now the head
of the Fugitive Task Force,

so I have some insight

into this man who asks for compassion

but still won't admit
what he did years ago,

when he stabbed my little brother.

So why should he get mercy now,

when he showed none for my brother,

when he doesn't have
an ounce of compassion,

when he doesn't have an ounce of remorse

for what he did

and still has the audacity to deny it?

Keep this k*ller in a cage,

where he belongs.

Let justice be served.

[INDISTINCT RADIO CHATTER]

You all right? You look exhausted.

Took a redeye last night.

I was down in Florida, testifying
at a hearing, for my brother's case.

What kind of hearing?

The guy who k*lled him has cancer,

wants to get out of prison early.

I'm so sorry.

It's been what, years?

Yeah.

So what did they decide?

We should hear in the next hours.

What do we got?

Chloe LeBlanc, Luke Spottiswood,

sophomores at the local high school,

last seen leaving the school parking lot

in Luke's car after a basketball game

yesterday afternoon.

You sure this was an abduction?

Teenagers can be
pretty unpredictable sometimes.

No, not these two.

I go birding with Luke's dad, Steven.

These are good kids.

I found their cell phones on the ground.

They look like they were
run over by a vehicle.

And these were in the car too.

There's nothing
but schoolbooks and papers.

Dust those phones for prints.
Backpacks too.

- You got it.
- We'll also need photos

of these tire tracks
and any other evidence

- that might show up.
- Okay, you got it.

[SUSPENSEFUL MUSIC]

All right, let's split up
and get these kids home safe.

Hana, Ray, head over to the high school

for eyewitness and video leads.

Barnes and I will cover the parents.

What are you talking about?

How can our son
just disappear like that?

Somebody must have seen something.

And if they did, we'll find them.

Were either of your kids
involved in anything

that might have precipitated this?

Like what?

You're blaming Chloe for this?

- No.
- No, but we need to know

everything you can tell us.

The important thing is to remain calm.

Pfft, sure. How do we do that?

What do they want from us, money?

Well, no one contacted you, right?

We'll post agents on each
of your houses, just in case.

When's the last time
you spoke with your daughter?

Chloe called me after the game was over

and said they had stopped
to help a minister

with car trouble.

A minister? Okay, that's good.
Did she say anything else?

Just that she was with Luke

and she'd be late.

When do you think we'll hear something?

If there are any developments,

we'll let you know, I promise.

I can't just sit here and wait.

I'm gonna drive around
and look for them myself.

We prefer that you didn't do that.

I understand what you're going through.

I've been on the other side
of this myself.

A situation in my own family.

Oh. How did that turn out?

With a happy ending.

[SIGHS]

[TENSE MUSIC]

[PANTING]

[WHISPERING] Do yours.

We interviewed
dozens of parents and students

that were leaving the basketball game

at the same time as Chloe and Luke.

None of them noticed
anything out of the ordinary.

But one of Luke's friends remembered
that after the last home game,

he saw a panel van following Luke's car

out of the school parking lot.

There were no vans
in the parking lot yesterday

on the security video.
I'm gonna start grinding

through the other vehicles now.

Do we have any security footage

from the last game, the one
where Luke's friend

said he was followed?

Uh, we should.

Okay, yeah.

This is from a week
before the Coolidge game.

There's a maroon van.

There's an emblem on the door.

Looks like a religious symbol.

The minister they stopped to help.

Mm.

The van is registered

to the Sacred Church of the Revelations,

Dorchester, New Hampshire.

A Jacob Varitek, pastor.

Dorchester's
miles across the state line.

Get a BOLO out on that vehicle.

See what we can find on the pastor.

Gaines and I will cover
Varitek's residence.

Barnes and Ray, I think
you'd be best at the church.

Pastor Jacob's not here today.

Where is he?

He'll be back from a funeral tomorrow.

Who d*ed?

Little girl in Franconia,

mauled by two pit bulls.

Heard those dogs made
a right good meal of the child.

You mind if we take
a look inside the church?

Make it quick.
I'm about to clean up in there.

Thank you.

Doesn't exactly fill you

with the Holy Spirit in here, does it?

You ever been in a church with
an image of the devil on its walls?

I guess it makes sense.

Good in the front of the church,
evil in the back?

It's giving me the same vibe
like in one of those voodoo places

in the French Quarter.

It's creepy.

[BANGING ON DOOR]

Pastor Jacob? FBI.

How'd the hell you get in?

Back window was open.

Two missing kids?

I'd call that exigent circumstances.

I checked the house. Nobody's here.

Breakfast dishes in the sink.

Business as usual.

Varitek's got a landline.

Could be why we can't link him
to a cell number.

He's got more books on the
Antichrist than he does on Jesus.

Looks like Pastor Jacob
has a little brother.

Yeah.

No mom in the picture.

Let's see.

Yeah, Rudolph Varitek.

He lives in Newbury, Vermont,

a few miles from the high school.

Looks like he's got a criminal record...

in New Hampshire for practicing medicine

without a license.

Body and soul...
whatever your affliction,

the Varitek brothers got it covered.

Time to go.
We've reached our destination.

Where are you taking us?

Be patient. Let's go.

- Let's go.
- [ROARS]

- Chloe!
- [SCREAMS]

Run!

Go get her!

Let's go. Calm down, dear.

- No, no, please!
- Please, just calm down.

Just calm down.

Just calm down.

- Please...
- Easy.

Please. [SOBBING]

All right, think of something nice

while the medicine takes effect, huh?

,

, ,

, ...

[SIREN WAILING]

What the hell am I
supposed to tell her mother?

We know how Chloe d*ed?

EMT said there was
no sign of any v*olence

or sexual as*ault.

Eh, they found ligature marks
around the wrist.

They also said there's a pinhole tear

in the shoulder of her jacket,
and a drop of liquid residue.

There's some dry blood
around the injection site.

Could've been a hot sh*t.

Oh, with fake doctor brothers involved,

that would make sense.

State M.E. will sort it out for us.

Why grab these two kids
just to k*ll one of them?

There's gotta be something else
going on here.

You're right.

Deep dive, Rudolph Varitek.

I'm gonna run a game on Pastor Jacob

and make sure we're going
down the right track.

- What's the play?
- Win his trust, size him up.

If he's good for this,
something will slip.

You don't need
to go undercover for that.

We can just reach out
to the congregation.

We don't have time for all that.

It's a close-knit community up here.

Not a lot of love for federal agents.

I'll need a crappy car, a Bible,
and a change of clothes.

[TENSE MUSIC]

- Ah.
- Okay.

- Ah.
- This'll be fine for now.

I may have to suture it later.

Are you sure no one saw you dump her?

Give me some credit.

You k*lled her with that injection.

All I can get my hands on
right now are horse tranquilizers.

If I had my DEA license,

I would have access
to proper medication...

- [BANGING]
- Hey!

- Where's Chloe?
- Quiet!

Quiet in there!

Where'd she go?

Quiet!

No more miscalculations, Rudolph.

We have a lot to accomplish.

Good Friday is just around the corner.

I'll have the crosses painted
and delivered to the sanctuary.

Fine.

We'll have to acquire another she-devil.

Maybe I could just focus on the boy.

Do we really need another female?

Eve did the serpent's bidding

and tempted Adam in the garden,

so evil must be vanquished

in all its incarnations.

Yes.

Maybe I can find another girl

after the funeral.

We'll take him to the OR.

Wait for me there.

Rudolph Varitek.

One of the most macabre cases
I've ever prosecuted.

Because he was holding
himself out as a medical doctor?

A doctor who'd perform
the kind of elective procedures

you can't get
at your corner urgent care.

You ever heard
of extreme body modification?

I'm vaguely familiar, yeah.

It's more than just stretched earlobes.

Eye tattoos, tunneled cheeks
subdermal implants:

Varitek did it all.

But if you wanna disfigure yourself,
isn't that legal?

He didn't stop at cosmetics.

Varitek sees himself
as an actual physician.

After he flunked out of medical school,

he took up do-it-yourself surgery

on his shingle on the dark web.

He must be resentful

the medical establishment
wouldn't have him.

Definitely.

He wasn't even on our radar

until he performed an amateur version

of gender reassignment surgery.

The victim ended up in the ER
and almost d*ed.

Varitek did six months
for practicing medicine

without a medical license

and moved out of New Hampshire.

How do we, as a community of believers,

make peace

with a senseless tragedy

like the brutal death

of this sweet, innocent child?

I, too, have recently lost a loved one

to sinister machinations.

Be assured, my good friends,
these are no random misfortunes,

for the Lamb would never allow

such heinous brutality
to befall the righteous,

like the family that sits here
in mourning today.

No, this can only be understood

as the demonic work of the Antichrist,

who took this poor soul

as a demonstration
of his dark, malevolent power!

God bless you.

Very moving eulogy, Pastor.

Thank you.

Have you also come
at the family's calling?

When I heard what happened, I...

thought I'd come and pay my respects.

Where do you minister?

My last posting was in Ohio, but...

things didn't go so well for me there.

How so?

I'd rather not talk about it,
if it's all the same to you.

I see.

These are trying times we live in,

when men of God are themselves
treated with suspicion.

God bless you for understanding.

Of course.

People can be so vindictive.

Your church in Dorchester...
I was hoping

there might be an opportunity
there for me.

Unfortunately, there's not.

We're a small and aging congregation.

As I'm sure you're aware,

our youth have drifted away
from the church.

Jesus said, "Suffer the little children,

and forbid them not to come unto me."

Easier said than done.

They worship technology now.

Very true.

How do we bring them back?

Show them that the work
of the devil is everywhere.

Satan's cleverest trick is to
convince us he doesn't exist.

We need to make evil tangible

to all the doubters among us,

simplify it in a way their
narrow minds can understand.

So true.

Evil is everywhere.

Like those two high school students

who were kidnapped
across the state line.

I'm not aware of such an incident,

but I'm not one
to follow current events.

You must excuse me now.

I pray that you find peace

and a beneficent situation.

[EERIE MUSIC]

I just spent some quality
time with Pastor Jacob.

He's obsessed with this dude
named Satan.

My gut tells me he's in this
up to his clerical collar.

Security footage puts Rudolph's Chevy

at the high school parking lot
ten minutes before the abduction.

Where's Rudolph now?

We still don't have a on him.

Get a drone with
thermal imaging capability

over the Variteks' property.
That church too.

Okay, copy that.

And someone was recently k*lled

in Jacob's family...
a crime victim, maybe.

Suss that out. In the meantime,

I'm gonna stay on Jacob.

Okay.

You want some company?

You think I need a babysitter?

Well, I saw your eyes when
you lied to those families.

I know this one's hitting close to home.

I'm good.

Jacob's gonna screw up
and lead us straight to Luke.

- I gotta go.
- [SIGHS]

[TENSE MUSIC]

[BREATHING SHAKILY]

Hey.

What did you do with Chloe?

Don't worry, son.

She's fine.

I don't believe you.

Why would I wanna hurt her?

I made you a sandwich.

Enjoy it.

It's the last solid food
you'll have for some time.

[WHIMPERS]

Be a good boy for Dr. Rudolph.

Stick out your tongue.

No, please.

This is going to happen
one way or another.

If you don't cooperate,
it's just going to make things

a lot more unpleasant

for both of us.

Come closer.

Good boy.

Lovely.

I think this'll work out nicely.

We'll begin when Jacob returns.

[SOBBING]

Jacob's still on the road.

Driving south.

Air ops did infrared scans
of the Variteks'.

Results are negative.

- What about the church?
- Same deal.

But I did find an obituary on
the Variteks' father, Douglas.

Now, he d*ed five months ago

after a lengthy battle
with Behcet's disease.

Never heard of it.

We'll I'll spare you
all the gory details,

but it's a long and painful way to go,

something that I'm sure
would've been difficult

to watch their father go through.

Interesting.

Hana, hang on a second.
Claire, what's up?

I'm sorry to bother you
while you're working,

but I thought you would wanna hear this.

The Florida commission
turned down Davis' request

for compassionate medical release.

That's great news.

I don't know what you said
to them down there, Remy,

but I guess they made
the right decision.

[CAR HORN BLARES]

Sorry. Do you need a lift?

Claire, I gotta go. I'll hit you later.

Hana, tell Kristin to write a
haul-ass order to my location.

What's going on?

Looks like Jacob
just kidnapped another girl.

[TENSE MUSIC]

[HONKS HORN]

Pastor Jacob.

I was just driving by,
and I noticed your van.

Hello again.

Is that your daughter?

[LAUGHS]

Oh. Oh, no.

This is Amanda.

She's the granddaughter
of one of our congregants.

Nice to meet you, Father.

Nice to meet you as well.

How's your day going, Amanda?

Great.

Pastor Jacob just saw me
leaving the diner,

and he was nice enough
to offer me a ride home.

- So nice.
- Hmm.

You know what, Amanda?

My stomach is starting to growl.

I'm craving one of Gus'
meatloaf sandwiches.

I'm sorry, I'm gonna have to
send you on your way.

Oh, okay.

Yeah. [LAUGHS]

- Sorry about that.
- It's okay.

- Bye, Amanda!
- Bye!

Nice to see you, Pastor Jacob.

Nice to see you too.

Get home safe, huh?

Thank you. I will.

Okay.

- Bye-bye.
- Bye.

Such a beautiful day, huh?

You know, I didn't catch your name.

Remy,

like the cognac.

Dark and smooth.

[LAUGHS]

Well, good day to you, Remy.

And the Lord be with you.

Safe travels.

- Thank you.
- Sure.

Mind if I join?

I was hoping to have
a few moments to myself.

You said the meatloaf's good here.

I'm a sucker for chopped meat.

I'm sure you'll enjoy it,

but at another table, please.

You know, I can't help thinking

maybe Amanda shouldn't
be walking home alone today.

- I'm sure she'll be fine.
- I'm not.

I heard on the radio
that the girl who was kidnapped

in Vermont was found dead

not too far from here.

That's a shame.

But the boy she was with?

- Still missing.
- Mm.

Why do you think they'd keep him alive

but k*ll her?

There are some evils
we can't begin to understand.

[LAUGHS]

It's so funny you should say that,

because I always wrestle
with that question.

Do sinners believe they're evil,

or do they have rationalizations
that excuse their damage?

Only God knows what's inside a person.

But what do you think, Jacob?

Could there be some heartbreaking event

that set these crimes in motion?

[LAUGHS NERVOUSLY] Excuse me.

I believe the Lord brought us together

for a divine purpose, Jacob:

to help this boy

who's trapped somewhere.

I'd like some privacy, please.

If you'd rather not talk,
let's at least invoke the power

of our joint prayer.

Let's kneel

and pray together.

Please, Lord,

save this boy.

Save him. Say it with me, Jacob.

Save him.

Save him.

Let's also pray for his captors,

that they see the error of their ways,

that they repent
and find grace in the Lord.

[CRYING] I can't imagine
what this boy is going through,

his hands bound together.

His family feels the same pain

that you must have felt when
you lost your father, Jacob.

So much sorrow, I'm sure.

Oh.

There's still time
for you to renounce this evil

and reach out for His forgiveness.

Get your hands off me.

Let's cleanse ourselves, you and I both.

- [GROANS]
- It's time for us

- to atone for our sins.
- You're hurting me.

- [KNOCK ON DOOR]
- Get off!

Is everything all right in there?

We can't run from the evil we do, Jacob.

The Lord is commanding you
to renounce Satan

and be saved.

Save yourself, Jacob. Save your soul.

Save your soul, Jacob. Save your soul!

Save your soul!

We're just gonna let him drive away?

We don't have enough
to hold him on right now, Remy.

- There are rules...
- Throw the rules!

He's got Luke,
he and his psycho brother.

What the hell were you
trying to do in there?

Conducting an inquisition,

trying to get him to confess.

We did that, like, years ago.

If they k*ll Luke now, it's on us.

You wanna live
with his blood on your hands?

Hey, listen to me. I know this is
what happened to your brother.

Okay?

Just give me ten more minutes
alone with him,

and this can all be over.

This feels personal. I've been there.

I get it, okay?
But we gotta take a step back,

take a deep breath.

We'll send Ray to follow him.

He's not gonna do anything
to Luke with a tail on him.

All right?

Take my car.

I just wanna nail this son
of a bitch to the cross.

I hear you, and we will, okay?

We will.

[TENSE MUSIC]

Where is Jacob now?

He's on his way back to the church.

Doesn't seem like
he's in a hurry, though.

All right, keep us posted.

Mr. Spottiswood.

You said you'd be in touch.

Yeah, um, come over here for a second.

Things are moving very quickly.

So you know where Luke is.

We're doing everything in our power

to bring him home safely.

He's gonna end up in a ditch
like Chloe, isn't he?

- Listen to me...
- [CRIES]

I know these have been the
worst two days of your life,

but there's nothing you can do about it,
but go home,

take care of yourself and your wife.

I have a team with some
of the best agents

in the bureau with me, and we
have some very strong leads.

What kind of person
would do this to them?

Go home.

As soon as something breaks,
I'll let you know.

Will you do that for me?

I'm sorry for barging in here
like a crazy person.

I just... I feel so helpless.

No need to apologize.

It's your son. I get it.

Go home.

Okay, so we have Jacob pinned.

Why can't we find his brother?

No friends, no family, no social media.

We have to think outside the box.

We're running out of time.

What about the caretaker at the church?

Well, Ray and I didn't get much.
He's a man of few words.

I'll have Hana take
another cr*ck at him.

I already told your two Black friends

where to find the pastor.

Right.

Have you seen his brother, Rudolph?

- Lives in Vermont.
- I'm aware.

But when was the last time
Rudolph was here?

Hard to say.

What's M-I-C?

McKerry Industrial Chemicals.

Worked there for years.

Hazardous chemicals.

Must've been a tough job.

Damn right, it was.

That's how I know the Variteks.

Jacob gave me some work
around the church after I retired.

He worked with you?

His father did, Douglas,

till he got sick and went on disability

a few years before the plant closed.

Ah, he had, uh, Behcet's disease.

All I know is, the doctors up here

couldn't do much for him.

Took its toll on the brothers,

seeing their father suffer
and waste away like that.

It drove Jacob to a dark place
with his ministry.

He could only understand
his father's t*rture

as something that was evil.

So there's an abandoned
chemical plant 'round here?

They turned the place inside out.

Nothing but rusty pipes
and empty storage tanks.

They have to be hiding
somewhere in there.

Pull everybody out
and search it all over again.

It's a lot of manpower to tie up.

They have something better to do?

Or maybe tunnels we don't know about,

underground tanks? Who the hell knows?

Okay, I'll let them know.

What is that thing?

- I don't know.
- Let's check it.

The lock and chain looks new.

Stand back.

Boot must've been here.

Somebody must've tipped him off.

What's back here?

Oh, God.

Horns?

Clawed hands.

These twisted bastards.

They're turning Luke into the devil.

This is terrifying.

To inflict this level of deformity

on another human being...
it's a long way from religion.

Their father's death
must've really screwed them up.

Maybe the only thing
they could blame for his death

was the Antichrist.

So what's their endgame?

Just turn Luke into a freak?

- [CELL PHONE RINGS]
- Parade him around on Sundays

like some sort of proof of concept?

Ray.

Jacob's leaving the church.
He just got in his van.

Looks like he's heading north
on Route .

Okay, he might be on his way
to Rudolph and Luke.

We found their hideout.

Looks like they left in a hurry.

Hana, is there any chance

that Rudolph and Luke
could've slipped in the church

while Jacob led us
all over New Hampshire?

Uh, there's a road that goes
around the back of the ridge.

It'd be about a ten-minute hike
through the woods.

Ray, get in that church.

- What about Jacob?
- We'll intercept him.

Just get in that church
and tear it apart.

But the church is probably locked.

Then kick the damn door down!

[TENSE MUSIC]

[ENGINE TURNS OVER]

[PANTING]

Jacob was going to be here
with a female companion for you

and to bless your transformation

with a prayer, but that doesn't
seem to be happening,

so we're going to begin without him.

- No!
- Try to relax, Luke.

All right? I promise to be gentle,

and it's better if you don't resist.

[CRYING OUT INDISTINCTLY]

This'll all be over very soon,

and you can focus on healing.

- No.
- Let's begin.

[CRYING] No! No!

[DISTANT CLATTER]

If you make a sound,

I will slice your throat
from ear to ear.

Damn.

- Are you seeing this?
- Yes.

They've erected two crosses
in the back of the church.

Black ones.

Yeah, with nails at the ready.

- Pfft.
- So that was their plan:

to crucify the Antichrist they
conjured by mutilating those kids.

[DISTANT CLATTER]

[SIREN WAILING]

I'll get local PD
to put down a spike strip

and road block up ahead.

- Kristin?
- Yeah.

I want this bitch alive

so I can look him in the eye again.

[YELLS]

You're safe, all right?

I'm with the FBI.

[CRYING]

You're safe. I got you.

All right? Come on, come on, come on.

All right? All right?

You good?

I got you. I got you, man.
I got you, okay?

[GROANING]

Don't move!

On the ground.

Show me your hands.

You.

You deceived me.

- Don't move.
- Impostor.

Agent of Satan!

Gah!

He's dead.

Good riddance.

Ray confirmed.

Rudolph's dead too.

Luke?

He's okay. Not a mark on him.

[SIGHS]

I'll call his father.

We saved one kid today.

Wish it could've been two.

[CELL PHONE RINGING]

Hey, Georgie.

Who?

Yeah, send her up.

Agent Scott.

I'm Serena Wade.

I saw you at the Larry Davis hearing

- in Florida.
- I remember.

Are you his family?

No, I'm a documentary filmmaker.

I actually live here in New York.

Do you mind if we talk for a minute?

Won't take long.

I wanted to give you a heads-up.

Did you hear
about the rule . filing?

- The what?
- It's a motion

for post-conviction relief.

It was filed in Broward County yesterday

on Larry Davis' behalf.

They're asking for a new trial?

Yes.

Based on what?

Actual innocence.

He claimed the prosecutor
withheld exculpatory evidence

among other things.

Are his lawyers getting paid
by the word?

They're not getting paid at all.

They're from
the Florida Innocence Project.

Well, they're wasting their time.

The case against Davis was airtight.

You remember the state attorney

who prosecuted the case?

- Brody Birch?
- What about him?

I started looking into him after
several complaints were filed

to the state bar last year.

A white prosecutor who targeted

mostly African American defendants.

At first, I thought this was
a story about race,

but the deeper that I dug,

the more I realized
this is pure corruption.

Brady violations, witness tampering...

I mean, who knows
how many innocent people

this guy has put behind bars?

What does this have to do with me?

I wanna make Davis' appeal
the center of my film,

follow it from beginning to end,

and I'd like for you to get involved.

I need someone who can humanize
the victim

and speak on his behalf.

I don't give a damn about your film

or what you need.

Well, I'm not taking sides here.

I don't know how this is gonna end

or where this is gonna go.

I just think that this is
a compelling story.

How nice for you.

You said at the hearing,

"Let justice be served."

- What if he didn't do it?
- But he did do it.

And he's not getting out.

That's your story.

And you should leave.

I didn't mean to offend you.

I just...

- Good night.
- Well... [SIGHS]

- In case you change your mind...
- I won't.
