[Laser strikes]

This is not good.

Ahh! I can't shake him! Sentry to the challenge! Corey, don't! [expl*si*n]

k*ller move Corey.

How'd you peg it? Gotta go with your instincts.

Good instincts.

You just bagged the all-time high score.

Yes! No fair! You must a logged a gazillion hours on that game.

Maybe more.

But for the first time I really felt it, ya know? Like I actually was a sentry of the last cosmos.

Aah! Hey, watch it! Or what? You gonna bop me with a flamin' sword? Get a life.

[Grunts]

Jerk.

[Camera clicking]

Look, if we tweak these codes, we can design our own sentry scenarios.

Don't you ever think of anything else? I mean, there are other games.

Yeah, right.

[Computer beeps]

Got mail? Oh, my God! What? It's from Simon Harper! The guy who created the sentries? No way! Yeah! The great wise one, himself.

He's like a God, and he's inviting me to sentrycroft.

To where? His private estate.

Nobody goes there! So what's he want with you? Date, name and mission.

Corey cavalieri.

I'm here to see Mr.

Harper.

I'm tellin' you! It's the ship baron uses in game 3 to escape from palothera.

It totally is not.

It's-- Corey: The galactic glider.

From game 4, the secret darkness.

Exactly! I mean, duh.

What else? It was also in game 5.

Modified for time travel by the wise one.

Yeah! I knew that.

I can't believe I'm actually standing here.

It's like a dream.

I assure you, it's quite real.

Mr.

Harper-- hey, that's the robe of the wise one! Dempsey, shut up! But he's quite right.

This is the mantle worn by all the initiated.

What you call, "the wise ones.

" Too few against the minions of the dark regent.

Come now, into the sanctum of sentries.

All the last cosmos games are connected to this computer.

From here, I keep track of many things.

Including the players' scores.

Schway! You 3 represent the cream of the crop.

The highest scorers in all Gotham.

Ultra schway! You are here because each one of you has shown extraordinary aptitude.

To us, last cosmos is more than a game.

Yeah, it's our whole life.

Your devotion reflects a profound commitment to the ideals of the sentries.

But are you ready to take the next step? All: Whoa! Wow! Do you have what it takes to become real sentries of the last cosmos? So get this.

My school counselor says my problem is, I lack direction.

[Alarm beeps]

Go to the hall of records.

I'm showing a break-in at their data bank.

Somehow I don't think that's what she meant by direction.

A big, smoking hole.

Could be a clue.

Here it is.

The data bank that's been infected by the dark regent.

Ahh! I thought the sentry con was next month.

Stay back.

We're on a sacred mission.

What, you're going to save the planet from the dark regent? Sentries to the challenge.

Uhh! [Zapping]

[Coughs]

Sentries away.

Huh.

[Coughs]

Aah! Uhh.

[Dog groans]

Terry! Can you hear me? Terry! [Coughs]

I'm here.

Ahh.

Bruce: What happened? I just got my butt fried by the sentries of the last cosmos.

What? You're kidding, right? Real sentries? Yeah.

And I've got the real bruises to prove it.

Weird.

They said they were sent on a sacred mission by the wise one.

Wise one? That's what Corey calls Simon Harper.

The guy who created the game? He invited Corey to come and meet him.

Do you think there's a connection? Is jar jar lame? [Starts engine]

Corey, wait up! How was sentrycroft? Ok, I guess.

Ok? Come on, give! That's a hard place to crash.

What's it like? Yeah, come on, sentry! Report.

It's just a joke to you, isn't it, mcginnis? Well, that's all it was.

A joke.

A big nothing, ok? [Tires screech]

Whoa! What now, oh, wise one? I'm in.

Whoa.

No way a fan boy like Corey wouldn't spew about this.

He's coverin' somethin'.

Just be careful.

Quite resourceful.

I'll have to program that strategy into my next game.

And what kind of game is that, Mr.

Harper? What do you mean? I met some of your sentries last night.

They didn't play by the rules.

You must understand.

There are thousands of hard-core fans.

Many dress up as my characters.

Conventions.

That sort of thing.

I have absolutely no control over them.

In fact, that very fan fanaticism is why I've had to install such elaborate security measures.

So you don't know anything about those sentries at the hall of records? I'm sorry.

I wish I could be more help, but-- sentries, to me.

What happened, wise one? The dark regent's servants have been here.

We'll find them.

No.

I have a more important mission for you.

The dark regent, himself, is here on earth.

[Gasps]

He's taken on a human form-- disguised as a man named eldon Michaels.

Eldon Michaels? What are you saying? Sentries of the last cosmos is no mere game.

It simulates a real w*r.

One being fought in the deepest reaches of space.

For centuries, we wise ones have used it to recruit trainees like yourselves.

Now, you must confront the dark regent to save our universe.

That's all you can find for eldon Michaels? An address? Bruce: From a few years ago.

I've checked every data system-- there's nothing on him.

Not even a birth date.

Maybe he really is from outer space.

Robot: Danger! Danger! Danger! Danger! Danger! Cute.

[g*n loads]

Aah! Uhh! [Groans]

Ow, that hurt! Ow, that hurt? Eldon Michaels, I presume.

I thought you were somebody else.

Obviously.

What's this, a word processor? It's a typewriter.

It belonged to Philip k.

d*ck, the greatest writer who ever lived.

You're a writer, too? Well, duh.

Why is Simon Harper after you? Why? Because he's a two-faced janus, a pirate and a charlatan.

And I can prove it.

Aah! Aah! Yaah! Oof.

Ah! Daah! Ooh! Ugh! Dooh! Ooh! Guh! Byaa! My research! Aah! Aah! Aah! Unh! Ohh! D-d-don't.

Stop! Where are you taking me? Put me down! Help! Ahh.

Uh.

Eldon: Harper, miserable recreant.

If you wanted to face me, do it yourself.

Don't involve these deluded lame-brains.

Why have you brought him here? What should we have done? k*ll him.

But the sentries code of honor.

Like he knows anything about honor.

Silence! Aah! He is the dark regent.

He must be destroyed.

Dark regent? It was plotted against me.

It was a lawsuit, you mad-- aaaaah! Simon, if 20% is too much, I'll settle for 15.

Lawsuit? What's he talkin' about? Batman: This.

Get him! Ooh.

Aah-ooo! Ohh! What is it? Sentries of the last cosmos, written by eldon Michaels? Batman: Right.

Michaels created the game.

Harper just produced it.

He was supposed to share the profits, but he went back on the deal.

It's a lie! That's why I had you destroy the data bank where the original contracts were stored.

Don't listen! He's trying to cloud your minds.

Raaaaaah! It's all in here.

There's where zimzam learned to fly.

From the eagles of karisium.

And here's where Aaron gets the golden feather from princess alla.

Uhh.

Aah! I'll destroy you, you pyraperan moon slug.

You're starting to believe your own fiction.

Huuah! Huah-aah-aah-ow-ow! Sentries, to the challenge.

[Gasps]

Game over.

[Bats squeaking]

Bruce: So they finally saw through Harper's smoke and mirrors? Why did he do it? Didn't he already have enough money? It's not easy to give up being God.

I guess you'd know.

Poor kids-- looking to a video game for something to believe in.

Yeah.

What'll they do now? [Knocking at door]

What do you want? You left this at sentrycroft, Mr.

Michaels.

It's too important to trust anyone but you.

Thanks.

Wait! What did the wise ones mean when they said, "seek the center.

"? And why did they send Aaron to pyrapera? And the golden feather, what's with that? Hey, it's just a game.

But you know.

You're the man.

Yeah, the real wise one.

Well, if you really wanna know, it all started a long, long time ago.

In a cosmos far from earth.
