to know a certain amount.

And my daughter has been through trauma.

So...

But like I said, I've been fine.

The thing is, post-traumatic stress

isn't always shaking
on the ground, panicking,

- because a car backfired.

Oftentimes, it's
the narrowing of a life.

It can be making your life small,

making your life manageable,

making decisions out of a fear
you don't even know is there.

It can be the pushing away
of people you love,

a feeling of numbness,
the absence of joy.

Feeling cut off from the world.

Trauma has a way of trapping
you without you even knowing

it's sitting there,
right on top of your body,

weighing you down until
something makes you notice,

until a car backfires,

and you're shaking
on the ground, panicking,

because you feel like you've
just been sh*t again.
