I do, and so does
my friend, Nia.
But one day, she met an animal
who didn't want to be
her friend.
[whistle toots]
All aboard for a big adventure!

Nia and theUnfriendly Elephant.

All kinds of wildlife livehappily on the island of Sodorfrom the deer in the woodsto the whales in the oceanand the birds in the skyto the birdson the ground...
[duck quacks]
...and the animalsfrom the farm.
- [cow moos]
- [gasps]
Oh!
- Then, there'sthe Sodor Animal Park,which has lots of animalssuch as zebras,camels...
- [camel grunts]
giraffes,and monkeys.
- [monkey chattering]
And they were expectinga new elephant.
[whistle blows]
- Ah, hiya, Nia.
Are you--
- Picking up the new elephant
and taking her
to the animal park?
Yes! I'm really excited!
- And I'm sure she's excited
to be meeting you!
[whistle blows]

- [Gordon] I wouldn't be so sure
about that.

- I just saw the elephant about
to cross Vicarstown Bridge,
from the mainland.
I don't think she likes
steam engines very much.
- Well, she'll like me!
[chuckles]

I'm afraid this elephant
doesn't like steam engines.
- Oh. It's okay.
I met plenty of elephants
back home in Kenya.
Some really difficult ones.
I'm sure I can win her over.
Don't worry.
I won't hurt you.

make our way to the park

It's an emergency!

So Niaand the elephant carersearched high and lowfor the missing elephant.

I've really messed up.

The elephant ran off
because it was scared.
Everything here must seem
very strange to it.

- That's it!
I know something that will
make the elephant feel safe
and happy.
Something familiar!

- No, not yet, Belle.

- Nia's brought another
elephant along with her!
- [elephant snorts]
- What a clever idea!
- I realized this elephant
needed something familiar,
like another elephant.

- Yes, we did!

Now Nia was doubly happy!She'd made the new elephantfeel at home on Sodor,and she got to take twoelephants to the animal park.

And as a reward, I'd like you
to continue helping out
at the Animal Park.
You could bring
the animal feed from the docks,
and fruit from the farm,
as well as straw
for the animals' bedding.

safari rides to visitors!

and friendly can help.

I loved workingon the Chinese Railway.I made loads of new friends!But I still missedmy best friend, Percy.Thinking about him,and sending a postcard home,made me feel a lot better.When a new elephant arrivedon Sodor,she felt nervousaround steam engines.Nia worked really hardto help her.In the end,it was the familiar sightof another elephant that madeher feel safe and happy.

it's okay to feel nervous
when going somewhere new,
and taking something
familiar with you,
like your favorite toy,
can help you feel better.
