On Sodor, we have lots

of different types of bridges.

Wooden ones, iron ones,

even stone ones.

But now, we have

a very unusual one.

I bet you'll never

guess what type it is.

[whistle toots]

All aboard for a big adventure!

The Inventor'sSpectacular Bridge.One morning,Toby was workingon his branch line withhis faithful coach, Henrietta,when he reachedthe rickety old bridge.

- Ready, Toby?

- Not really.

- [chuckles]

Oh, come on, Toby.

There's nothing to worry about.

That bridge

has been here forever!

- [Toby]

That's what I'm afraid of.

[bells ringing]

Ah...ah...ah...

[groaning]

- You can open

your eyes now.

- [gasps]

Phew!

That old bridge gives me

the heebie-jeebies.

- [Henrietta]

Well, take it from me,

it's as safeas a bridge can be.

[rumbling]

[crashing]

- Not long after,Toby and Henriettareturned from the quarry.

- Ready, Toby?

- Not really.

- [Harold]

Toby...

stop!

- Whoa!

Oh, oh...oh.

Oh, my!

- [Harold]

That was close.

You might wanna look where

you're going next time.

- Thanks, Harold.

- The bridge is out,

but thankfully all personnel

appear safe and calm.

- [Sir Topham Hatt]

This looks like

a job for Rocky.

I need you to find Emily

and ask her to bring him here.

- Roger that.

- Don't worry, Toby!

We'll have you back in no time.

- Thank you, sir.

We won't be going anywhere!

- Dearie, me, Thomas.

That bridge is going

to take weeks to repair.

We need a miracle

of engineering...and fast.

- That's it, sir!

If anyone could solve

this problem, Ruth can!

- Ruth! The inventor!

Of course.

We need to tell her

about this immediately.

- Already on my way, sir!

- Behold the amazing,

astounding, rootin'-tootin'

whistle clock!

[whistles blow,

clock chimes]]

[train whistle toots]

- That doesn't sound right.

- [whistle toots]

- Quick, Ruth!

We've got no time to lose.

There's an emergency

at Lower Arlesburgh

and we need your help!

- Then what are we waiting for?

[light music]♪ ♪

- Thank you, Rocky.

You can take that lot

to the scrapyard now, Emily.

- Yes, sir.

[whistle blows]

Hello, everyone!

♪ ♪

- So...what do you think, Ruth?

Can you build us a new bridge?

- It's more a question of

what type of bridge to build.

There's a beam bridge,

a pier bridge,

or a suspension bridge.

But those will take too long.

What you need

is something innovative.

- Ooh...

- What about a flying bridge?

Or a magnetic bridge?

Or a rocket power...

- Not now, Thomas.

We mustn't get

too carried away.

Ruth needs time to think.

- But Ruth's amazing, sir.

Inventing is like a walk

in the park for her.

to roll forward

onto the bridge.

[bells ringing]

- Okay, hold it right there.

Perfect.

- Whoa!

- Now, the moment of truth.

[machinery whirring]

- [Toby]

- [Ruth] Behold!

The stupendous,

spectacular

walking bridge!

- [Toby whimpering]

- Toby, you may now roll

forward off the bridge.

- Oh!

- It's wonderful.

- [Sir Topham Hatt] Welcome

home, Toby and Henrietta!

[all cheering]

- [Sonny in a sing-song

voice] Um, hello?

I think I may have

come the wrong way.

- Uh, Ruth, may I?

- Be my guest.

- Hold tight, Sonny!

We're coming to get you.

Once, when the children neededto be taken to a new school,Duck was keen to help.To do that, he hadto find himself a coach.But when the only coach hecould find had broken wheels,he solved the problemby turning the coachinto a school!When the ricketyold bridge collapsed,it was up to Ruth to figureout how to build a new bridgein the fastest time ever.

Sometimes the best solution

is not always

the most obvious one.

Next time you have

to solve a problem,

try thinking about it

in a different way.

You never know, you might just

come up with a great idea.
