And return.

I didn't spill a drop.

Now, for a different sort of water.

Moon pool water.

This is harder to move.

Of course.

It holds the power of the moon.

Hey, guys.

Cam.

Check this out.

Should you be doing this outside?

It's okay.

No one can see us out here.

Cool trick.

Cam, no!

What was that stuff?

Moon pool water.

Sure packs a punch.

Are you all right?

I'm fine.

Let's get to school.

Thanks for the lesson.

State Championships are next month.

Now, we had a great team, and then Shane selfishly goes and breaks his leg on a skateboard.

So I'm having trials for a spot on the team at the squad meet tomorrow.

What do you say, Zac?

Sorry, coach, I just don't swim like I used to.

Oh, come on, Zac.

Now, I remember when you could outswim anyone in the district.

Those days are gone.

Evie, tell Zac we need him on the team.

Uh, it's his call.

Sorry, coach.

I... I can't help you.

Hmm.

What about me?

Oh, standard's pretty high, Cam.

I'm a lifeguard.

I swim all the time.

You know what?

He's got great pace in the water.

I've seen him.

Okay.

The team's training after school.

Come along and, uh...

Well, we'll see what you can do.

I'll be there.

All right, see you later.

Thanks, coach.

Just suppose someone from our pod...

Well, not our pod exactly, but another mermaid.

And this mermaid was practicing magic.

Which mermaid?

It doesn't matter.

Just say they were practicing with moon pool water.

And someone else touched it.

Another mermaid?

Not exactly.

Who else would be in the moon pool?

Just say this wasn't happening in the moon pool.

Just say you tell me what this is about.

We were teaching Evie how to manipulate moon pool water.

By the canal.

Where people could see?

Why?

It was a beautiful day?

We'll come back to that.

So... Evie touched the moon pool water.

No, Cam did.

Cam? Why did you let Cam touch it?

It was an accident!

We couldn't stop him!

He seemed all right, though, as far as we could tell.

It couldn't hurt him.

Could it?

How would I know?

It's moon pool water and he's a land boy.

I have no idea what it could do to him.

You got to see this.

How?

Fish chicks were messing around with the moon pool water and I touched it.

Careful, careful.

Awesome, right?

You don't think I've got...

What?

Stand back.

I'm going to need some tail space.

Wet me.

Cam, it...

Do it!

Maybe the tail takes a bit longer.

Cam...

Do you have any idea how long I've been waiting for this?

I've got powers, man!

I've got powers.

You sure he doesn't have a tail?

Yeah.

But he can bend water like any of us.

Maybe he's got other powers, too.

Well, then we'd better make sure he keeps it to himself.

I know Cam.

Okay, he can't resist showing off.

And he's wanted powers for ages.

I feel horrible about this.

It's my fault he touched the moon pool water.

Don't be so hard on yourself.

Okay, I'm meeting up with him now.

I'm gonna make sure he doesn't do anything stupid.

Where are you going?

The swimming pool.

Not on your own, you're not.

Come on, Nathan.

Come on, push it! Push it!

Well done, Nathan. Good work, mate.

Good work.

31.15.

Good work.

Not bad, not bad.

You'll get better.

You can't do this.

You don't know what's gonna happen.

Nothing's gonna happen.

You ready for me, coach?

Oh, I didn't think you'd come.

Got to give it the old school try.

Okay. On your blocks.

Are you ready?

Two seconds under the world record!

Where have you been hiding?

So, I'm on the team?

Ah, well, technically you still have to swim the trials tomorrow.

But you do what you did just now and you're in!

Where did he come from?

Did you see me?

This is the best day of my life!

Cam, you can't be on the swim team.

Ah, with a time like that, I think it's a done deal.

It's not you, it's the moon pool water.

It's a total giveaway.

I'll be careful.

You don't think swimming like a world champion is gonna get you noticed?

People are gonna start asking questions.

And that'll lead straight back to us.

Stop stressing.

I bet you no one even noticed.

Hi, Cam.

Hi, Jodie.

That was a fantastic swim.

Wow, a compliment from the captain of the girls' swimming team.

Could my day get any better?

If you're not doing anything later, do you want to catch up at the café?

Aren't you and Nathan...

Nathan's old news.

See ya.

No one else will notice, huh?

Sure, you've got to be physically fit, but... winning's more about a state of mind.

You've got to have that competitive drive, the desire to win at any cost.

I heard about you trying out for the swim team. I think that's great.

Coach Norris practically begged me.

How can I say no?

I don't think you should be eating that.

We make them here with all fresh ingredients.

Um, I mean, you only carbohydrate load on the morning of a race.

Everybody knows that.

Have you got a protein shake?

Sorry to interrupt, but can we borrow Cam for a second, please?

Guys, I'm in a meeting.

Ah, just a quick word.

We'll bring him right back.

You have to stop this.

Are you serious?

Did you see those girls in there?

I've got groupies.

But you don't know what else the moon pool water might do to you.

And you're overreacting.

I'm fine.

Yeah, now, maybe.

But magic is unpredictable, which is why you can't swim.

Do you ever get sick of repeating yourselves?

Cam, you're not taking this seriously.

And you've had all the fun so far.

What about giving me a chance?

It is not a good idea.

It would be good for our friendship.

No!

Okay. I get it.

Just... chill.

Cam with powers?

This just gets better and better.

At least he hasn't got a tail.

Yet.

What are we gonna do about him?

Cam won't give up his powers willingly.

Who says we're giving him a choice?

Cam, this is a lot of food, even for you.

He needs fuel for the race today.

He also needs to not sink to the bottom of the pool.

Cam, you'll get a cramp from all that.

I'll get you your usual breakfast.

From now on, this is his usual.

I'm actually happy with either.

But since you ordered this, it would be a shame to waste it.

The state team is just the beginning.

My sister's dating this guy from a sports management agency and he reckons the big money is in sponsorship.

Do you have any idea what sporting goods companies pay?

Uh, let's not get ahead of ourselves.

I haven't made the team yet.
Are you okay?

Yeah, someone turn the air-con off?

You're dripping.

Must be nerves.

I need some fresh air.

Whatever you're doing to me, just stop it.

We're trying to steam the moon pool water out of you.

You're not meant to have powers.

You have to let us remove them.

Not gonna happen.

It's not a request.

You girls seem a bit upset.

I think you need to cool off.

Have a nice day.

We're counting on you, Cam.

Can you match the time you swam yesterday?

Coach, I'm planning on b*ating it.

Hey, major news.

See that guy?

He's a scout from the National Sports Academy.

Yeah, he's just an old mate of mine.

Thought he might like to see your style out there.

The National Sports Academy!

You're gonna get a scholarship!

Guess what.

Coach Norris has called in a scout just to see me.

Oh, I know what you're gonna say and you're wasting your breath.

No, actually, I understand why you're doing this.

It's a big deal. You want to enjoy your moment in the spotlight.

Even though it'll put us all at risk.

Even though we're your oldest friends who we trust with our deepest secret.

Who needs friendship when you have glory, right?

Nice try. No sale.

I'm still swimming.

So, what do we know about moon pool water?

And if anyone says it's water that comes from the moon pool, I'm going to be very annoyed.

We're in unknown territory here.

It's hard to know where to start.

That's not helping us with Cam.

Whoever is doing that, please stop.

I'm not doing anything.

Me either.

Then why is the water rising?

The moon pool water is attracting the ordinary water.

What if moon pool water becomes unstable when it's out of the moon pool?

Unstable?

As in, it starts to do weird stuff.

So anyone that absorbs the moon pool water...

We need to warn Cam.

Cam!

You really need to think about this.

Oh, I have... and I'm not changing my mind.

End of story.

What's going on?

What?

The moon pool water's become unstable.

You have to help me!

I have to swim in a minute.

I don't want to be a water feature.

Mimmi and Sirena are working on it.

They better think of something fast.

Cam!

What are you doing?

Just... psyching myself up, coach.

Okay, well, make it snappy, huh?

Nearly time.

So, the good news is, if you move the moon pool water away, the regular water goes back to normal.

We still need to get the moon pool water out of Cam.

Okay.

Let's imagine that this sponge is Cam... absorbing the moon pool water.

Any ideas?

We could squeeze it out of him.

Could be painful.

Why don't we give steaming another try?

Maybe it needs more than one mermaid.

We probably shouldn't do that.

Let's try again.

What about a moon ring?

Maybe the moon pool water will be drawn to it.

It's worth a try.

We do that to Cam, we'll bounce him right out of the pool.

Any other thoughts?

Of course!

What is it?

I'll explain on the way.

Let's go.

This is it, champ.

Okay, I want you to visualize the water.

You're gliding through it.

You're soaring through it like an eagle.

Eagles don't swim, coach.

A marlin, then.

You're like a marlin sh**ting through the ocean.

I'm starting to feel sick.

Hey, don't sweat it.

Even the greats get butterflies.

I'm serious, coach. I'm sick.

I'm not gonna make it.

Okay, listen, Cam.

Suncoast High haven't won the State Championships in 12 years.

And I'm tired of the other coaches saying, "Better luck next year."

Now, you're my chance to turn the tables.

So you're gonna get in that pool and you're gonna swim like you did yesterday.

And this year, I'm gonna be the one who says, "Better luck next year."

Are we clear?

Good man.

I know you won't let me down.

Okay.

All right, on your blocks.

Go, Cam!

All right, gentlemen.

On your marks!

Get set!

Oh! Oh!

I slipped.

False start.

I guess I'm disqualified.

Cam!

Get on your block.

All right, gentlemen.

On your marks!

Get set!

Stop!

We need to speak to Cam!

Cam!

Cam! Cam!

Don't do this to me!

This might feel a little weird.

What are you doing?

We're freezing you.

Moon pool water is attracted to warm climates, like Mako.

It feeds on the heat.

So when we steamed you, it got out of control.

But it hates the cold.

This worked in the grotto, right?

Actually, it's the first we've tried it.

We ran out of time.

Is that...

I knew it would work.

Quick, before he reabsorbs it.

How do you feel?

Um...

Cam!

Pool, now.

On your marks!

Get set!

Go, Cam, go!

Whoo! Go, Cam!

Come on, Cam!

Go!

What's he doing?

Go, Cam! Go!

Go!

Come on!

Aw...

Aw...

Yeah.

Sorry, coach.

Twelve years I've waited, Cam.

Twelve years.

Whatever you did, it seems to have worked.

Back to plain old Cam.

Just the way we like you.

Where have you been?

We took that moon pool water back to the moon pool.

We do not want any more land people getting powers.

That freezing idea was clever.

It was all I could think of.

Look on the bright side.

There's a bright side?

If it ever happens again, we'll know exactly what to do.

It was nice having powers.

I'll miss it.

You know, for what it's worth, you looked pretty awesome swimming that fast.

All a memory now.

Want to go to the movies?

Our treat, popcorn and ice cream included.

Uh... no, you guys go.

Okay.

Hi, Jodie.

Mind if I join you?

Sorry, I'm busy.

Another time then.

I'm busy all those times, too.

Hi, Nathan.

Come on, let's go.

I didn't order this.

On the house.

I heard about what happened today.

I'm sorry.

Me, too.

You had a sh*t, though.

That's what counts.

You don't have to prove anything to anyone.

Least of all Jodie.

You deserve better than her.
