Dr. Ellison, just the man I've been looking for.

We've got a missing patient.

Darius Bishop seems to have vanished out of his room.

I need to find out where he is, and I need to know now.

I'm just trying to understand how a half-naked man with a b*llet in his leg waltzes out of an ER full of people.

People walk out of here every night.

It's our job to treat the patients, not to babysit them.

How far could he have gotten on that leg?

John: I really don't know.

Listen, I have patients that need my attention...

How long was he left in here alone?

I have no idea. I'm running around here tonight trying to do my job. I don't have time to do yours.

Doctor, you told me to get you if Mr. Mayfield needed to go to surgery.

He's showing signs of an intracranial hemorrhage.

Something you want to take a look at?

Yes. Yes, of course.

I have a patient. May I?

Yeah, fine, go.

I figured you wanted out of that conversation.

Yeah, good call.

Here.

Laceration kit, morphine, should be everything you need for a b*llet and a bleed.

This should be enough. Gretchen, thank you.

You're welcome.

[door opening]

Let me see it.

[grunts]

You can handle this?

Yeah, but I gotta warn you, I'm an Emergency Physician, not a trauma surgeon.

This could get ugly.

[groans]

Hey, what the hell you doing?

I can't have no dr*gs. I told you, I got work to do.

It's just morphine. Can't have you screaming, or everyone in the hospital is gonna know...

Hey!

I can't help nobody if my head ain't right.

No dr*gs.

Fine.

Well, at least let me inject the wound site with lidocaine.

Trust me, it's still gonna hurt plenty.

Deep breath.

[winces]

[winces]

[wincing]

Oof.

Remember, don't move.

If I hit an artery, this could get fatal real quick.

[winces]

Oh! That hurts like a moth...

Hold still.

Tell me something.

Am I the hardest patient you ever had?

You'd like to think that, huh?

[chuckles]

Come on, just help me out.

I'm trying to keep my mind off the pain.

Rebecca: Dad, dad, look.

John: Careful.

I'm being careful.

[Rebecca laughs]

The hardest?

Mm-hmm.

If you really want to know, the hardest was my daughter.

When she was eight, she came down with the flu.

Fever, chills.

I made sure she had plenty of fluids, plenty of sleep.

We talked about what the flu was and how it worked, and she even... [chuckles]

She made up a song about how the white blood cells were attacking the flu virus.

[Rebecca laughs]

Dad?

And then the nosebleeds started... and bruising.

When I saw the red spots on her skin, the petechiae...

I knew it wasn't the flu.

So I sent her to another physician who told her what I already knew.

That daddy was... wrong.

And that she had cancer.

She d*ed six months later.

So no, you're not the hardest patient I ever had.

Not by a long sh*t.

Sorry, Doc.

[grunts]

[winces]

[grunts]

There it is.

Doc?

Give it here.

Busy night down there, huh?

Yeah, you could say that.

Hey, I was wondering, we sent a girl up with abdominal pain earlier, and I need to get some info on a family member.

They're working on her in 3.

She coded about 15 minutes ago.

Wait, what?

We were prepping her for surgery, and then all of a sudden...

Can't get a pressure.

No palpable pulse.

How long since the last epi?

Two minutes.

How many units has she had?

She's on her fourth unit now.

[voices indistinct and distant]

Farkas: Push 1 milligram Epi.

Epi's in.

[flatline tone]

Gibbs: No response. No shockable rhythm.

What do you want to do?

I'm calling it. Time of death, 2:45.

Thanks, everybody. We did what we could.

What happened?

Ultrasound was positive for a bleed, but she coded before we could get her into surgery.

Gina, will you notify?

It doesn't have any family listed.

She had a brother. I...

I think it was just the two of them.

This girl a friend of yours or something?

No, she was just... Just a patient.

Well, she's headed to the Fulton County ME for an autopsy. They can figure it out.

Could I... you mind if I do the paperwork?

Really?

Mm-hmm.

Be my guest.

Okay, this is as far as I go.

John: There's security cameras up here.

That's fine. Where we at?

So that's the west parking structure behind you.

Linden Avenue's on the other side.

All right.

Wait, wait.

If you've lied to me, and you go out there tonight and the sh**t start again, you and I are gonna have a problem.

Yeah?

That sounded like a thr*at.

You made it clear that you can destroy me.

Well, guess what, I can destroy you too.

And if you make me an accessory to m*rder tonight...

I will.

I guess we together on one thing.

Enough people d*ed tonight.

[phone vibrates]

Hey, honey.

Hey. Is this a good time?

Uh...

Yeah, sure. It's fine.

Are you sure? You're whispering.

Well, you know, it's late. People are sleeping.

Hmm. Well, no one's sleeping here.

Ollie had a bad dream, came downstairs.

Oh, he wants to say hi.

Hi, dad.

Hey, buddy. You had a nightmare?

Ollie: Yeah. We're watching TV.

Anything good?

Just nature stuff. Are you gonna be home soon?

[sighs] I hope so, but if I don't get home soon, can I count on you to make breakfast for Mom?

John: And save me some?

I will. Here's mom.

Hmm.

Hey.

So did everything work out okay with the... you know, the patients?

Samantha: Did you save some lives?

I hope so, Sam. I really do.

You're a good doctor, John Ellison.

[chuckles] I love you.

I love you too.

John: Bye.

Yeah.

Thank you. Thank you.

Yo, what's up?

[indistinct conversation]

Let's roll.

Hey, are you still busy, Doctor?

Oh, you know, we're getting through it.

John: After a night like that, I got a mountain of paperwork to do.

So, did things calm down?

Have there been any other sh**t?

Haven't heard of any. We got lucky.

Glad to hear it.

All right, well, back to it.

Actually, Doctor, something I wanted to talk to you about.

Just got off the phone with a colleague.

I believe you know him, Detective Dacy?

We went over everything that went down tonight.

He mentioned that you were the one involved in that g*ng sh**ting the other day.

It must've been awkward for you having these guys in here tonight, what with you dropping one of them.

Anyone give you any trouble?

No. Not more than any other doctor.

A little hard to believe, considering.

I tell you what.

If you think of something I might want to know, you give me a call.

And it'd be best for everyone if you think really, really hard.
