03x13 - Looking for Mr. Goodbrain (2)

Post by bunniefuu »

Previously on iZombie...

That's my old boss, Katty Kupps.

Guess she was in town working on this Aleutian flu outbreak.

We traced the first cases to a flight from Paris to Sea-Tac.

Hello, Patrice.

You recently flew from Paris to Seattle.

- Yeah?

- Girls?

Carey Gold?

Patrice is your daughter?

You are no longer an employee of Fillmore-Graves, effective immediately.

- You're human?

- Yeah.

Farewell bash for the ages.

You in?

Zombies are abominations!

A spokesman from the fire department says they still don't have a final count for the number of people k*lled in the expl*si*n.

Names of the deceased have not yet been - released to family members.

- Liv.

The six-bedroom home was leased to employees of Fillmore-Graves, a multi-national m*llitary contracting firm.

They're going to be okay.

Been through worse.

You're alive!

Oh, thank God.

About damn time.

Justin!

Oh!

- Hey...

- Hey.

We were so scared.

I'm okay.

We're okay.

We thought you were dead.

Natalie's dead.

Coyne and Hurley and Zack.

Most of my squad.

The only reason we're alive is...

Dumb luck.

So what happened to you tonight?

Where were you?

Why do I have a feeling my night's not getting any better?

I slept with Chase Graves.

You...

What?

It wasn't me.

I ate the brain of a woman who was addicted to anonymous sex.

She'd pick men up from hotel bars...

They were all one-night-stands, all meaningless...

You were on the brain?

So, what?

It doesn't count?

I tried to fight it...

I've been on brains before, Liv.

And you can fight them if you really want to.

Justin, please...

I am so sorry.

Justin...

- Justin...

- Chase Graves?

It's happening again.

Not in the mood, Donald.

Dude, you really need to see this.

Choreographer blue brain is a big hit.

We should up the price.

Hey!

Where's my shipment of Russian brains?

Where's Tanner?

There were Feds at the drop.

They intercepted our crate.

- Balls.

- And Tanner?

He got clipped.

What?

I can't find a body for this leg.

It's like the most horrible jigsaw puzzle ever.

I was not looking forward to coming down here today.

Tell me you're here to offer a welcome distraction.

I have news on the Katty Kupps case.

When we went to interview Tatum Weckler, remember her surly friend?

- Yeah.

- Her name is Patrice Gold.

She's Carey Gold's daughter.

So there's a Fillmore-Graves connection.

That's weird.

Patrice was on the Paris flight.

So she's one of the people Katty interviewed?

And Patrice claims she didn't see Katty on the day she was m*rder*d, but I don't believe her.

Plus, according to Carey Gold, Chase Graves asked Patrice to pick up his dog in Paris and fly it back to him here.

And that's gotta mean something.

I'm not sure how bringing his dog back would unleash the virus.

Chase Graves sends a 13-year-old zombie to Paris to bring back his dog.

Next thing we know, there's an outbreak of a deadly disease originating on that flight.

It's fishy.

What's the upside of Fillmore-Graves introducing a deadly virus in Seattle?

Major and Justin say there's always a shortage of brains at Fillmore-Graves.

An outbreak of a deadly flu virus would get them what they need.

Then they really are monsters.

Ooh.

I have an idea.

Come look at this.

What if Chase arranged for the dog to be wearing one of these anti-barking collars that emits citronella to train your dog not to bark...

But he loaded it with the virus.

Jimmy, the Sikh, he mentioned a barking dog.

Emitting virus everywhere he went.

But how do we know he was wearing one of these collars?

He was wearing one as of last night.

How do you know that?

Also, there's this, Chase Graves knew Katty Kupps.

- You had a vision of them together?

- No.

I know that Chase had Katty's room number written on a folded bar napkin in Katty's handwriting.

We know that Katty went home with men every night.

Maybe one night she tried to take Chase home, and he lured her to her death.

He could've learned she was zeroing in on their plan.

Wait.

Slow down.

How'd you see this napkin?

How do you know his dog had a citronella collar?

I was up in his room.

I met the dog.

I saw the napkin.

You snuck into his room?

- Liv...

- Not so much snuck into as backed into while making out.

I slept with Chase Graves.

I was on Katty's brain.

The woman wasn't choosey about her lovers.

Thanks.

Alison Connor said she thought the house was being used as a meth lab.

We live in the boring-ass suburbs of Seattle.

Nothing wrong with adding a bit of drama to the story.

We're importing brains from third-world countries, w*r zones...

Places with too many consonants and too much death.

You say the word and Fillmore-Graves is officially out of the brain procurement business.

You keep your hands clean, and leave the legal risks to me.

- Why don't you flip to page 12...

- Let me stop you there.

We won't be using your services.

With all due respect, your men are hungry.

- Is that so?

- They're my best customers.

I'm afraid I've got some bad news, Mr.

DeBeers.

More bad news?

Whether it's blue brains or normal whole brains with their variety of personalities, they put my men in jeopardy.

That's why I've let my men know your establishment is off-limits.

They're half my business.

That's not my problem.

You need more brains.

I know you do.

I think I've got my brain situation under control.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have work to do.

Well, if it isn't k*ller Abs.

Restroom is just down the hall.

Lillywhite.

I don't believe we have an appointment.

If you've just got two minutes...

Sure.

Hell of a day.

Yes, sir.

You don't need to call me sir, Major, you don't work here.

I want back in.

- We've been through this...

- Scratch me.

Make me a zombie.

We've all been through a lot.

We've lost a lot of good men.

Twelve.

We lost 12.

You need to know what becoming a zombie now means.

- I think I do.

- Trust me.

You don't.

Discovery Day is on us.

All those humans out there are going to be in for a big surprise, and no one knows how they're gonna react.

They're going to be terrified.

If we're going to survive, we might have to do a few things that can't be undone.

If I scratch you, you better be damn sure whose side you're on.

It's not even close.

Come on, Clive.

We can hear the dog.

Two minutes, and we've got our answer, doesn't matter if Chase is home or not.

We've had better plans.

Ravi said even if he changed it back to citronella, we'd still be able to test the collar for Aleutian flu residue.

Okay.

You're in, you're out.

Leftover from my first date with Justin.

Hey, hey!

White Fang, remember me?

Hey, there.

Too much to hope this is a booty call?

Isn't that the plushest robe ever?

It's from my hotel room.

Don't worry, I bought it.

And I should probably call...

Well, the cops, I guess.

Unless you'd like to tell me what you two were up to.

We wanted to find your dog.

We think you used him to cause the outbreak of Aleutian flu.

And what's my motivation for that?

Brains.

You know, Harley Johns wasn't the sh**t in the Tuttle-Reid murders.

What, that wasn't the m*rder w*apon in his truck?

It was.

But he didn't pull the trigger.

How do you know that?

I ate his brother's brain.

I know where Harley was at the time of the murders.

I'm his alibi.

Okay.

I now understand that look of disgust on your face.

You think you went to bed with a mass-m*rder*r.

For your information, I only went up to your room because I'd eaten the brain of a woman who did that sort of thing every night.

Indiscriminately.

I believe you know her.

You had a cocktail napkin with her phone number written on it.

Oh, so you're upset and jealous?

I don't think you slept with her.

She was human.

Does this woman have a name?

Our m*rder victim, Katty Kupps.

She was with the CDC, investigating how the flu virus came to Seattle.

Just a coincidence you had her number?

Maybe I should be calling my lawyer.

Are you charging me with something?

Or am I charging you with something?

This is so confusing.

We're done here.

Um, your clothes won't be ready for another 30 minutes.

You wanna watch some TV?

Look at this place.

It's emptier than a Glasgow pay toilet.

Chase Graves frickin' ruined us, man, banning his people from coming here...

Right.

Dr.

Smith, you may remember Dr.

Chakrabarti, our pathologist.

He's former CDC, we asked him to sit in and translate any science-speak.

I don't think you'll need much translating.

In a month's time, Seattle is looking at a death toll in the tens of thousands.

The strain has mutated rapidly, and it's resistant to antivirals.

Meaning?

That if you get it, it's a death sentence.

And it's a slow death.

About a month from contracting the virus until death.

Hospitals will run out of beds.

The dying will be spilling out into the streets.

So what do we do?

We need to begin mass-scale vaccinations tomorrow.

If you don't, the death toll could reach the hundreds of thousands.

Tonight.

The Aleutian flu hits harder than anticipated, and city leaders scramble to catch up.

Hello, I'm Johnny Frost.

At a news conference today, Seattle mayor Floyd Baracus surprised most observers by issuing a mandate that every man, woman and child get vaccinated against the flu virus this week.

Local hospitals have now reported 125 cases of Aleutian flu.

Sources claim the outbreak can be traced to a commercial airline flight from Paris earlier this year.

You better believe that right after roll call tomorrow I'm getting to one of those locations.

Peyton says those vaccines are arriving tonight.

They're keeping them at some city facility.

Which one?

She said if she told me, she'd have to k*ll me.

I'm not gonna be able to sleep until I've got that vaccine coursing through my veins.

Hmm.

Insomnia is actually one of the earliest symptoms of Aleutian flu.

Well, along with unbearable sensitivity to light...

You still alive?

Don't worry.

It'll all be over soon.

What'd you see?

Carey Gold k*lled Katty Kupps.

You actually saw the m*rder?

No.

But Katty was in the trunk of a car, Carey opened it up, and she seemed surprised to find Katty still alive.

So, like we thought, the bludgeoning happened somewhere else.

Carey was moving Katty to the location behind the hotel.

Framing Chase?

He was living at the hotel.

Maybe.

Let's find her, make sure she doesn't talk her way out of this one.

I'll hold the fort down here.

You called for me?

Yeah.

Come in.

Sit.

I just wanted us to take a b*at.

Make sure we're on the same page.

About?

My recollection is we had a plan.

A plan favored by me, favored by my predecessor.

A plan to quietly build Zombie Island, then, just as quietly, move the entire zombie population there once the infrastructure was complete.

- Mmm, that was the plan, yes.

- Yes.

Until we switched to Plan B.

The Doomsday Plan.

The plan we're following now.

The plan you set into motion without approval.

Me?

I'm the person that requisitions toner cartridges.

You think I put Plan B into motion?

That's slightly above my skill set.

Detective Babineaux and Liv Moore dropped by my house last night.

They think my new dog was used to spread the Aleutian flu virus.

The same dog you so kindly got me as a welcome home gift.

Did you really need to k*ll so many zombies to make your plan work?

I guess you needed our people frothing at the mouth, angry at humans.

I'm the one that's been preaching restraint.

You must have learned about the email Fred Tuttle sent me earlier this year.

He wanted to talk to me when I came back stateside about a disloyal faction inside the company.

That must be why you k*lled him, k*lled his sister, his 11-year-old nephew.

Then you laid the blame on a bunch of Internet crazies tracking zombies.

My sister-in-law Vivian resisted launching Plan B, so you k*lled her, too, figuring that, given the escalating tension, the personal loss, I'd put Plan B into motion.

Yes, Mr.

Graves?

Get a security detail in here now.

What are you going to do to me?

I haven't decided.

It's too late to turn back the clock on Plan B, God help us.

Maybe I'll lock you up in a freezer until I can put your fate to a vote.

I doubt our people will be kind to a traitor.

You're the traitor, Chase.

That's how it will be written in the history books.

Zombie Island would've gotten us all k*lled.

All of us together in one place?

Some government, probably our own, would've nuked Zombie Island into vapor.

You and Vivian weren't idealists, you were cowards.

Get her out of here.

I don't want to mess up my brand new office.

Take him outside behind the obstacle course and sh**t him in the head.

I don't care where you bury the body.

Surprise me.

Looks like you chose the wrong time to clean your glock.

I just decided what to do with you.

There are more of us.

Chase!

Chase, put the g*n down.

You're a hair too late.

You could've rescued me.

Mutiny.

Led by Carey.

She was trying to sabotage the move to Zombie Island.

So the Aleutian flu...

It was all about getting more brains?

For her, it was Pearl Harbor.

Strike first.

Strike hard.

Did she k*ll Wally and Anna Reid?

I'm not sure if she pulled the trigger, but she ordered it.

I believe it would be in everybody's best interest if I take care of this mess in-house.

Be my guest.

The city-wide Aleutian flu vaccinations are officially underway.

And here at Bell Square Church, the mood is tense.

This line wraps all the way around the block.

We've already heard reports of some scuffling, pardon me, as nerves fray during the long wait to be immunized.

Pardon me, press coming through.

Clearly, people are worried about...

Pardon me.

- Whoa, buddy.

- Are worried about this deadly flu.

But one thing they should not be worried about, - excuse me, is the sh*t itself...

- Hey!

Which I'm about to demonstrate.

- Dude...

- Smile, sir!

You're on live TV.

Hi, there.

Didn't even hurt.

I got the sh*t.

Reporting live, Johnny Frost.

You look like hell.

Late night.

Take a seat.

I had a late night a couple days ago, freezing my stones off at the docks, looking for a smuggled crate from Russia that we thought was full of...

Well, you don't need to know that, other than it had to do with my Russian hacker case.

We've got our eyes on this crate when a couple of doofuses roll in to pick it up.

We pounce, one gets away, we snag the other.

He's an errand boy, at best, but I need info, and he's not talking.

One thing he did tell me, however, is that he's your CI.

I've had a lot of Cls.

Well, let's see if you remember this one.

Now that the g*ng's all here, let's play Connect the Dots.

Your boy Tanner has the usual drug busts under his belt.

But flip a few years back in his file, and things get interesting.

Teen Tanner was a ward of the state.

And his case worker?

One Major Lillywhite.

Curious, huh?

It gets better.

Tanner's one phone call this morning was placed to Shady Plots Funeral Home.

I might die.

I was getting my affairs in order.

Shut up.

Shady Plots...

A business run by our friend Blaine DeBeers.

Brains, Blaine and Major.

I'm feeling some deja vu real hard.

What the hell is going on?

Clive!

What the hell?

He's a zombie, Dale.

We live in a city full of zombies.

And you've gotta let him go.

If you put him back in jail, you're liable to start a zombie apocalypse.

This is the same decision I had to make with Major.

Let him go, and I'll tell you all about it.

What's going on here?

Remember how, a couple months ago, Katty told us about that mysterious plane crash?

And how one of the girls on the plane had brains in her stomach?

And how Katty learned that that girl had been to the same boat party where you'd been turned into a zombie?

Remember how worried we were that Katty was getting very close to the truth?

- Yes.

- Look what the girl had in her pockets!

Boat party, read, Tainted Utopium.

Two vials.

I found it in Katty's box of stuff.

- That's amazing...

- Not really.

They were empty.

But they evaporated, so there's still residue.

I probably won't have enough for a cure, but it's still valuable.

If I can just...

Here.

Do the honors.

Press the release valve for me.

Sure.

Ah!

Could be a long day.

Hello?

Peyton, it's me.

Liv?

Uh, we're swamped here, I can't really chat.

Peyton, listen.

I need to know where the Aleutian flu vaccines are being stored.

Why?

What's going on?

I just saw all these texts between zombie teenagers...

They're saying that Seattle's about to become their personal brain buffet.

That zombies are tricking the CDC.

Peyton, if they think they're still about to have all-you-can eat brains, even after the city gets vaccinated, they must know something we don't.

Maybe they're...

I don't know, stealing the vaccines, destroying them?

They're at James Doohan Elementary.

Okay.

I'm not far.

There's police already there.

We'll try to send more, but I'm not...

Hello?

Do I know you?

I'll call you right back.

I'm with the police.

We met a few weeks ago.

Remember?

Why are you in my house?

Tatum, I know you're a zombie.

I can't talk about this.

I can't, they'll...

They can't hurt you anymore.

I've got you.

Just...

Tell me what happened.

I went to that July 4th party with Patrice, the one where everyone got turned into zombies.

Like, a week later, they told my dad that if he didn't do what they said, - they wouldn't let me have...

- Brains.

I heard her on the phone.

She's on the humans' side.

Don't you get it?

There's nothing you can do.

You've already lost.

Dear God...

Over here!

Fun date.

There will be time for fun after we're vaccinated.

Aw, every great love story starts with those words.

Love story?

Don't look at me with that face.

I cannot believe that you got me to release a brain-smuggling member of the undead.

Oh, I'm sure there'll be plenty more surprises to come.

Oh, it's Liv.

- Hey, Liv...

- Clive, don't...

Wait, wait, wait...

What did you just say?

They're...

- Can you...

- The reception in here is terrible.

Hold on.

Let me step outside.

Excuse me.

Pardon me.

Excuse me.

Sorry, Liv.

Say again?

- Have you gotten immunized?

- Not yet.

- We've been here for hours.

- Don't!

Fillmore-Graves is infecting the Aleutian flu vaccine with zombie blood!

Everyone who takes the vaccine is going to turn into a zombie.

- Clive?

- Dale.

Hey, stop!

Clive?

What is it?

The coldest place in the state?

Sunnyside!

Irony, anyone?

They'll reach a high of six degrees today.

The jetstream that we're seeing here is staying...

So, the new weather girl...

What do you think?

- Scrumptious.

- Oh, you dog.

- What's going on with your hair, Johnny?

- What do you mean?

The white streak.

You try to dye it yourself?

Miss.

Miss.

We're live right now.

You can't just...

We need to talk.

Is that Olivia Moore?

In a wig?

And what is it this time?

m*rder at the local all-night massage parlor?

You're rounding up the usual suspects?

I know why you're starving and what you're starving for.

A little privacy, please.

You want to eat someone's brain.

The thought of it makes you salivate.

And we're in commercial.

Johnny...

What's going on down there?

Why?

Why do brains sound so good?

Because you're a zombie now.

I'm one, too.

Everyone who gets an Aleutian flu vaccine becomes one.

This just...

That can't be true.

Brain mush.

Gross, huh?

Be my guest.

Mmm.

So here's what you've got to say...

And we're back.

I'm Johnny Frost.

Fellow Seattle residents, I have grave news to report.

It has come to light that every person who received the Aleutian flu vaccination today is now in the process of becoming...

A zombie.

I can't stress this enough.

This is real.

This is not a joke.

Your future may depend on what you do next.

If you have not received an Aleutian flu sh*t, do not get one.

If you do, you too will become a zombie.

The first sign you have turned into a zombie will be a craving for human brains.

Is that serious?

Ah!

Color will drain from your skin.

Your hair will begin to turn white.

If you have taken the vaccine, also be aware the zombie virus can be transmitted via a scratch, or sexually.

Ready camera two.

Condoms do not prevent the transmission of the virus.

Abstinence is the only protection.

Camera two.

The most important thing for every Seattleite to remember is this, these people are still your friends, your neighbors, your loved ones.

They have simply contracted a virus.

Those who have contracted the zombie virus, resist your urges.

Help is on the way.

Until then, everyone, please stay calm.

Yeah!

Someone answer the damn phones!

That was great, Johnny, you were perfect.

- Imagine if he'd been sober.

- Let's not.

Every local station has picked up the story.

Well, at least it's not just us with our wangs hanging out.

We're seeing tweets that people were crushed trying to get out of the vaccination queue - at the 45th Street fire station.

- Send a crew.

What now I don't know.

Hey, you can't go in there!

- Excuse me...

- What fresh hell?

Ah.

I should've known.

Sir.

You and your armed men need to leave my stage.

You're one of the tribe now.

You should welcome me.

Why are you doing this?

Making more zombies?

You want an apocalypse?

I have a video here that should explain everything.

You're going to run this on air.

Sorry, I don't take orders from you.

Any of you take orders?

Hello.

I'm Chase Graves, chief operating officer at Fillmore-Graves.

As most of you know, we are a Seattle-based m*llitary contracting firm.

What most of you don't know is that for the better part of two years, most of our support staff and all of our soldiers have been zombies.

Some would say that's the bad news.

I don't see it that way, though we understand that this new reality may test the bonds of some romantic relationships.

Unfortunately, intimate contact between humans and zombies is impossible without infecting the human partner.

We welcome new zombies, but that should be a conversation between consenting adults.

On a positive note, by the end of the day tomorrow, the Aleutian flu will be eradicated.

Your loved ones who were facing a long and painful demise will be saved, and no disease will ever thr*aten them again.

I suspect the number one question on everyone's mind is, where will zombies get the brains they need to survive?

Rest assured.

There are no plans to harvest brains from the living.

Rather, our brains will come to us from across America.

The brains, supplied to us by willing donors upon their deaths, will be processed and distributed to Seattle's zombie population.

But here's the promise we're making to the rest of the country.

Provide us the brains that we need to survive, and Seattle is where we'll stay.

In the United States, 7,000 people die every day.

If just one person in 10 donates his brain, we will have enough that we won't need to look elsewhere.

Should zombies go hungry, however, it's anybody's guess where they might turn.

Remember, a well-fed zombie is a happy zombie.

And our genuine hope is that Seattle will be a city filled with happy zombies.

Going to PTA meetings, bringing orange slices to kids' soccer matches, making noise at Seahawks games.

Of course, the human citizens of Seattle are free to leave.

But we hope that you will stay and live in harmony - with your new zombie neighbors.

- Take cover!

- Move, move!

- Zombies are not monsters.

The last thing we want to do is harm our human brothers and sisters.

One round above their heads.

On me.

Fire!

We are all in this together.

Let's show the world there's no need to fear the other.

Aim...

Take 'em down.

While Seattle will be under zombie control, most of you living here will experience very little change.

The established infrastructure will continue to function, its city government, its schools, firehouses, police department, with a special zombie police force and criminal justice system to handle crimes involving zombies.

Thank you for listening.

Continue watching for a list of locations where brains can be procured.

So that's your plan?

Holding the country hostage for its brains?

The brains of their dead.

But yes.

So the Aleutian flu was never about harvesting brains.

It was about getting as many people turned into zombies as possible.

You can stop judging me now.

I didn't put this plan into action.

I suppose I could've let everyone with the Aleutian flu die.

I wish I had the luxury of hoping we could all just get along.

Have I mentioned how much I like your new look?

I'm glad you finally got on board.

What's it like out there for someone rocking the old-school zombie look?

Lots of moving trucks heading out of the city, and it seemed like every driver only slowed down long enough to flip me the bird.

How's it going here?

You look like you haven't slept.

Ta-da!

You invented the sugar cube.

I harvested just enough tainted Utopium to try something I've been tinkering with ever since I lied to the zombie truthers about this.

That, my friend, is a vaccine for zombie-ism.

No freaking way!

You did it?

Oh, I don't know.

Maybe.

I think.

I dunno.

Who knows?

If my math was right.

Let's see how it goes.

Dude!

You're gonna be your own guinea pig?

How're you gonna know if it works?

I'm glad you asked.

What?

Why?

No.

Ravi.

I don't want to be responsible if it doesn't work.

You won't be.

I'm asking you to do this.

Ask Major.

I don't think he has much use for humans anymore.

I want it to be you.

This morgue...

This is where it all started.

Remember?

I caught you eating brains in my office.

You were this...

Bright, mopey girl, so sad because she couldn't be a cardiologist, and look at you now.

So sad because my friend wants me to turn him into a zombie.

What I want, more than anything, is to feel like I left the world a better place.

And that for doing so, I was richly rewarded with a medical patent worth billions of dollars.

Which I would then drop into the ghettos, barrios and favelas of the world from my helicopter with Chakrabarti painted down the side.

- Chakrabarti!

- I love you, Ravi.

I love you, too, Liv.

Give me that arm.

Are you sure?

I'm sure.
