01x11 - No Getting Out

Post by bunniefuu »

NARRATOR: Previously, on Hardy Boys...

- Look familiar?
- That's George's journal.

Everything we need to know
about The Eye has to be in there.

Take it.

Why are you here, Kanika?

My piece of The Eye was stolen.

JB: Show me a red nine. [CHUCKLES]

Black eight.

I need to know what this is.

It's basically magic, right?

I don't think anyone's ever
done anything good with it.

George said they broke it in
the place that they found it.

He thinks that they can destroy
it there, too, if they have to.

FRANK: You're not going to Demon's
Paw. We don't even have the piece!

JOE: We're gonna get it back,
Frank. And we're gonna destroy it!

- [SMACKS]
- She just hit her uncle.

FRANK: That's pretty gutsy,
considering they both have g*ns.

Who are you, Stacy?

My name is Anastasia Nabokov.

I think whoever k*lled your mother

probably got to my father, too.

JOE: He said that the chamber
of The Eye is underground.

It could be in what's
left of the old mines.

They were sealed, like,
a million years ago.

Nobody even knows
where they are anymore.

I got a bad feeling about this, Hardy.

It's late, and it's dark.

Maybe we should just go home.

- Just two more minutes...
- [GROUND RUMBLING]

- Aah!
- [JOE AND BIFF SCREAMING]

[CRASHING, TUMBLING]

[SCREAMING CONTINUES]

- JOE: Whoa!
- [BIFF GRUNTS]

[PAINED GROANING]

You okay?

BIFF: Yeah.

JOE: You're not gonna ask if I'm okay?

You're good.

Hello?

Help!

JOE: Nobody was up there when we fell,

and nobody's gonna be up there now.

This isn't the secret, mystical
chamber you were looking for, is it?

No. This is more of a hole.

You didn't see this
place on the map, did you?

No, I didn't.

[MYSTERIOUS MUSIC PLAYING]

Joe's not here. He
might be out with Frank.

So, you don't know where he is?

Is Biff with him?

He didn't say anything
about hanging out with Biff.

Wh... They've been inseparable
since Joe moved here.

Why don't you just say
what you're thinking?

Okay. I think Joe is doing
something he shouldn't be doing,

and my daughter is with him.

You think that Joe
would put Biff in danger.

Nearly everything he's done

- has been dangerous.
- [DOOR OPENS]

What part of that is his fault?

- Ern? A man stalking him for no reason?
- [DOOR CLOSES]

No reason at all?

Well, maybe if someone
could keep him in custody.

[JESSE EXHALES, SCOFFS]

Do you know where your brother is?

Uh, no. If he's not here, I don't know.

The moment you hear
anything, you tell me.

[DOOR OPENS]

- Do you know where Joe is?
- [DOOR CLOSES]

No. Honestly.

[RUNNING FOOTSTEPS]

Okay, Joe.

[THUDS]

- [STATIC]
- Joe, Biff, it's Frank.

Joe, can you hear me?

[STATIC]

I think Joe went out to Demon's Paw.

What? Why?

He's trying to get into the tunnels.

I think probably because
of an argument we had

where I told him not to.

The mine is sealed, so I just need
to drive out there and pick him up.

- It'll be fine.
- No. I'm going with you.

Is Biff with him?

I don't know.

If she is, Joe's gonna
have to answer to Jesse.

Joe!

FRANK: Biff!

- Joe!
- TRUDY: Joe!

FRANK: Joe!

[THEME MUSIC PLAYING]

[SLURPING]

[PHIL SIGHS]

So, uh, how many
conversations have we had?

I've never really thought about it.

I don't think we've had any,
like, just, just talking.

[SLURPING]

It's not that I don't like you though.

- Why would you go there first?
- In case you were worried.

[CHUCKLING] Oh, no. I'm pretty likeable.

[BELL ON DOOR JINGLES]

Sorry I took so long.

Oh, no problem. We
were just hanging out.

Joe went out to Demon's Paw. I
think he's trying to get inside.

What?

Well, he can't. It's been
sealed shut for years.

Yeah, we know. We already
went to the old entrance.

They weren't there.

I think Biff might be with him.

[BELL ON DOOR JINGLES]

PHIL: Oh, hey, Chet.

- CHET: Hey.
- [DOOR CLOSES]

Is there something no one's telling me?

It doesn't matter. What's up?

Joe and Biff are missing
out near Demon's Paw.

- What?
- Joe's trying to find the place that The Eye was found.

He thinks he can
destroy his piece of it.

That sounds crazy.

I know. That's probably why he
never told me where he was going.

And if Biff's missing, you need to
tell Jesse where to look for her.

Trudy's on her way to
tell Jesse right now,

but we need to look, too.

CHET: If Joe and Biff are
walking to Demon's Paw,

then we should check
the old farms on the way.

PHIL: We're on it.
Let's get moving, Morton.

FRANK: Hey, Chet.

Look, I'm sorry I didn't call.

You know, I didn't know if... well...

Come on, man. It's Joe.

[BELL ON DOOR JINGLES, DOOR SHUTS]

I really think you need
to ask Gloria for help.

Yeah.

Just have to admit to something first.

[PHONE CLICKS IN CRADLE]

The custodian over at Bridgeport Public

says no students stayed late tonight.

Nagy just called in from the
docks. No Biff, no Joe Hardy.

None of our patrols have seen them.

JESSE: Thanks.

Can Nagy swing by the old Matthew
Brothers factory on her way back?

Yes, ma'am.

[PHONE BUTTONS CLICKING]

Jesse, how's it going?

Everyone has their heads up.

I'm taking reports without
diverting anyone from their patrols.

How long's it been now?

[SIGHS]

Three hours. Is that long enough?

Look, I know you're
worried about Biff. So am I.

But we don't have to wait
to start a full-scale search.

I'll contact Gresham police.
See if they can lend a hand.

Thanks, Ezra.

[SIGHS] What are you doing here?

Frank thinks Joe might have
gone to the old Demon's Paw mine.

Why? Why would Joe go out there?

I think he's trying to get
into the mining tunnels.

It's a lot to explain, and I'll tell
you everything once we find them.

So Biff is with him?

I don't know. Would she go with him?

Chief, we have to search
the area around the old mine.

Where's Frank?

And why am I only
hearing about this now?

FRANK: Grandma, I need
to tell you something.

No, but wait. First, I want
to apologize for the other day,

if I seemed insensitive.

You know, explaining your whole
family's history like that.

It must have been very overwhelming.

I think it was gonna be
pretty heavy, no matter what.

I know. It certainly was
for me when I was your age.

Grandma, I need to tell you something.

- So tell me.
- Joe's gone.

What?

He went looking for the
place The Eye was found.

We already went out to Demon's
Paw. We couldn't find him there.

I think he's already inside the tunnels.

Inside the tunnels?

[LAUGHS] How could he even do that?

- [DOOR THUDS]
- [FRANK GRUNTS]

[DOOR SQUEAKS, SLIDES OPEN]

[MYSTERIOUS MUSIC PLAYING]

[GEARS CLICKING, CLATTERING]

[RHYTHMIC CLUNKING]

[EXHALES]

[WHISPERS]: Oh.

This is the room where my
father lived his secret life.

Oh, look.

[INHALES]

I haven't been in here for...

well over years.

[EXCLAIMS]

Oh!

But you and Joe have already
been in here, haven't you?

Yes. And Joe saw something

that sent him looking for the tunnels.

I'm sorry we didn't tell you.

No, you're not. You're just
sorry there's a consequence.

But that's not important. What's
important is finding your brother.

Okay, did he, um, did he
take something from in here?

Just an old map that had a bunch
of lines on it that made no sense.

Okay.

And your father's journal.

His journal?

Does Joe have our piece of The Eye?

Tell me, please. It's
important... Did GreatGrandpa

have a secret entrance into the tunnels?

I need your help.

Of course I want to help,

but I don't know if he did.

And, and people who might,
they're either, they're dead,

or, or, or they're working against us.

I think I know someone.

Someone who can help.

[LABORED BREATHING]

- [STATIC]
- BIFF: This is Biff Hooper,

daughter of Deputy Chief Jesse
Hooper of Bridgeport Police.

I just fell down an old mine shaft,

west of Demon's Paw mine,

just north of the old Templeton orchard.

- You brought your walkie?
- It's always in my bag.

You don't have yours?

I, I left it at home.

[HUFFS] This is Biff
Hooper. Can anyone read me?

JOE: How do you even know where we are?

It's just a guess.

I think it's right.

Didn't even notice that we
walked through an orchard.

Good thing I'm here.

- Do you have any rope in that?
- Why would I just have rope?

I don't know.

- Why would you just have string?
- That's butcher's twine.

Why would... ?

Whatever.

What have we got? [EXHALES]

Books.

Stopwatch.

Jack Kn*fe.

- Gum.
- It's whatever was in my locker.

We didn't go shopping, Joe.

Tomato soup.

- In your locker.
- Whatever.

Who was the one who brought the walkie?

[CLATTERING]

So. You didn't even hint to Frank
that you were heading out here?

He'll figure it out.

Will he tell my mom?

I think so. If he's worried.

How long until he's worried?

You know, we're... we're
probably gonna need these.

We should save the batteries.

[CLICKS OFF]

Okay. Okay. Show me something.

Show me anything at all.

Preferably lottery ticket numbers.

[NEON BUZZING]

[TENSE MUSIC PLAYING]

[CLATTERING]

[SHATTERING]

[GRUNTS, THUDS]

[THWACKS] [GRUNTS]

[PANTING]

JB: You just love sneaking
into motel rooms, don't you?

[HANDCUFFS CLINK]

[STEFAN GROANING]

Let's do a, uh... [PATS]

review of how you Estabrook
people do business.

You hire me.

att*ck me.

Repeat?

I wanted "k*ll you" to be step two.

But how does step three make any sense?

'Cause here's what I'm thinking.

You hired me to get one of these.

Right? And then two.

And now I can't help but wonder

what it would feel like with all three.

You idiot.

- You're gonna get yourself k*lled.
- Nah.

I'm trusting my instincts.

Which seem to ring
just a little bit louder

whenever I'm holding this.

How's it feel when
it's all in one piece?

Do you have any idea
how many people have d*ed

for what you're holding?

No.

But, I tell you what.

I will be in touch, with a price.

Or maybe I'll just
put it together myself.

See what happens.

In case you get thirsty.

- [THUDS]
- [LIQUID SPRITZING]

Oh, my.

[EXCLAIMS] I've passed
this shop so many times.

I never thought I'd
actually be inside it.

Have you ever met Anya?

I know who she is.

I try to avoid people
who dislike my family.

Her father led the expedition.

I read that in the papers, too.

ANYA: Good evening.

What illumination can I
provide at such a late hour?

Why have you brought her?

Ms. Kowalsky,

this is my grandmother, Gloria.

- Your grandmother?
- FRANK: Yes.

I'm really sorry, but we need your help.

I wondered what I would say

to your father. To you.

I never got the chance at his funeral.

Or when my mother and I
were forced off our land

by your father's bank.

My father built his fortune
on manipulation and deceit,

earning what he did at the
expense of other people.

And when he d*ed
unexpectedly, I'm afraid I...

I carried on as if I'd learned nothing

from his wicked ways.

I'm so... I'm so sorry, Ms. Kowalsky.

Get out!

GLORIA: No, please.

Not until you say you'll help
us find my young grandson.

Did you bring any extra
batteries for the flashlights?

I almost didn't bring flashlights.

Do you have any food that we can open?

I have three pieces of gum.

How long till your mom starts a search?

She's probably already
wondering where I am.

But someone will have to pass,

like, right over the hole to hear us.

Or get a signal from the walkie.

Sorry that I got you into this.

You didn't get me into anything.

I came with you.

Yeah, but, were you thinking
we'd get trapped in a hole?

No. I thought it was gonna be
tunnels, like George's journal said.

But you thought we'd be trapped?

I didn't think it would be safe.

I just thought it would be fun.

It's still my fault for running
off without telling Frank.

Yeah...

But I took your piece of
The Eye without telling you.

If I hadn't done that,
your grandma would have it.

And we wouldn't be here.

Double but, if I hadn't
gone with JB to her house,

you wouldn't have had to.

- How far back do you want to go?
- You started it.

Okay. Okay, we're playing that game?

[BLOWS]

[WIND CHIMES CLINKING]

ANYA: I don't understand.

What is your brother
looking for down there?

He was reading a lot
into the mine expl*si*n,

and I told him what you'd told me.

He just got too curious.

Well, why not buy up the
entire ridge and dig it up?

Don't let those family farms stop you.

Did your father mention any
other entrances into the mine?

From the moment they started digging,

those men all wanted
their own entrances.

Why did they want their own entrances?

They did not trust one another.

They were looking for
something important.

More than gold.

And men k*ll each other for gold.

My father was supposed to
be leader of that expedition.

In the end, he was just being used.

Anything else than you could tell us?

About my father, or, or
the families? The tunnels.

You must know more.

I'd be willing to pay you.
It doesn't matter how much.

I have no secrets for you to buy.

You think just like your father.

[GLORIA STAMMERS]

BIFF: But you wouldn't
have followed me from Wilt's

if I hadn't flashed
the money he gave me.

The sandwich.

If you didn't pay for my sandwich,

we wouldn't be stuck in this hole.

See? All my fault.

- You owe me a sandwich.
- [JOE CHUCKLES]

Ow.

Got one of 'em.

Maybe I can try climbing up with a root.

JOE: All the way up?

I don't know. It's worth a sh*t.

Aah!

JOE: Are you okay?

Yeah. I'm not doing that again.

Joe, look.

JOE: Wait, wait, wait.
There's a space behind here.

[CLUNKING]

Looks like we found your tunnels.

Is Stacy here?

STACY: Frank.

You can let him in.

[DISTANT DOG BARKING]

- [DOOR SHUTS]
- You get points for nerve.

I wasn't expecting you
to ever come over here.

I need your help.

Joe and his friend, they're missing.

They're trying to get into
the tunnels under Demon's Paw.

Uh, I'm sorry to hear about Joe.

But how do you think I can help you?

We think the original
miners who found The Eye,

they made their own separate
entrances to the mine.

I'm here to ask if your grandfather did.

One of the few things my
father taught me himself

was never to trust
anyone else in the Circle.

- I know... She, she...
- Your grandmother can never know what I tell you.

She won't.

I just want to find Joe. That's it.

I never knew my grandfather.

But my father built a
storehouse by that mine. He...

He said it was only there
to cover something up.

Maybe that's the entrance
you're looking for.

Oh, you've never been there?

I'm here to break the circle of The Eye,

not to follow in its path.

Can you tell me where it is?

[WOOD BREAKING]

[THUDS]

[WIND WHISTLING]

It wants to go inside.

It wants to?

Yeah, here.

Back to the place where
it was found, I guess.

I don't like that it wants things.

Well, we can't go up through the top.

Got a better plan?

Guess not.

[FLICKERING]

Well, that's convenient.

JESSE: I want to know the
instant anyone sees anything.

Yes, ma'am.

COLLIG: As of now, the town
of Bridgeport is under curfew.

We are conducting a full-scale search

for two young people:

Joseph Hardy, and Elizabeth Hooper.

And until they are found,

we do not want any extra
bodies getting in our way.

So, wherever you are,

stay indoors.

We will update you the
moment the situation changes.

Thank you.

JESSE: What was that?

We need every eye on
this. Two kids are missing.

Ezra, what's going on?

We're searching our
side of the Demon's Paw.

Gresham police are searching their side.

We now have a chopper
coming in from Dixon City.

Gloria Estabrook must
have called in a favor.

We don't need anybody else in our way.

Gloria Estabrook called in a favor.

- BIFF: "This fragment whispers to me."
- [JOE SIGHS]

"If I strain to listen, I can
hear a lucky word here or there.

But it is a taunting
reminder of a deafening roar

of The Eye in full."

Let me put this away.

He's kind of wordy.

Yeah.

That's how it feels, though.

I mean, when I won all
that stuff at the carnival,

it was kind of just,
like, I knew what to do.

I felt something when
I hid it at the school.

I didn't like it, though.

What about when it's in one piece?

- [JOE SIGHS]
- [RATS SQUEAKING]

The journal says that

it'll give you the knowledge
to get what you most want.

Whatever that's supposed to mean.

BIFF: Then ask it to show
us how to get out of here.

It wants us to go straight.

BIFF: You still think it's guiding you?

[JOE SIGHS]

- Guess we go this way.
- Okay.

[DOOR SQUEAKS OPEN]

[DOOR CLOSES]

- Hey.
- The town's under curfew, huh?

Yeah. Chief Collig doesn't want
anyone to interfere with the search.

No.

Emergency cookies for Joe?

I'm so stupid. I mean,
he does something crazy

every time I don't listen to him.

Come on, be fair on yourself.

You usually are.

Maybe, but that's not a
reason to not listen to him.

So, why didn't you listen?

Because he wants to destroy The
Eye, and I don't. That's why.

He is right about one thing, though.
We'd probably be safer without it.

Okay, so just tell him he was right.

When we find him.

Where are we going, anyway?

Stacy told me her family has
another entrance into the tunnels.

You actually trust her?

I don't trust anyone right now.

Not even someone willing
to break curfew with you?

Come on. Let's go find Joe.

Leave the cookies.

JOE: Please don't tell
me you've told me so,

but... [GRUNTS]

- I guess I could have planned this better.
- [BIFF GRUNTS]

We really should have brought some food.

BIFF: Yeah. I'm starving.

Listen, Joe.

I just don't think following
that thing is smart.

JOE: [SIGHS] I agree to disagree.

[JOE GRUNTS]

I mean...

Aside from dropping us
down an old mine shaft,

The Eye has been pretty good to me.

[JOE YELLS, THUDS]

- [SCREAMS]
- [RAT SQUEAKING]

[SCREAMING]

[RATTLING]

CALLIE: Do you actually believe
Stacy's never been here before?

FRANK: I'm trying not to
believe anything she says.

Although I don't know why
she'd lie about it, either.

[THUNKS OPEN]

CALLIE: So whose side are you on?

FRANK: What do you mean?

Well, you'll have to choose
Stacy or your grandmother.

Have you ever thought about that?

Yeah. Yeah, I have. Trust me.

Hey, Frank. Check this out.

[FRANK GRUNTS]

[PLANKS CLATTERING]

This must be it.

[CLANGING]

[FRANK GRUNTS]

It's sealed from the inside, too.

Why seal a door from both sides?

[FRANK SIGHS]

FRANK: So no one knows where
it goes from either side.

[STATIC]

Joe?

Biff, it's Frank. Can you hear me?

[STATIC]

Joe, buddy, can you hear me?

[LOUD CLANGING]

- [FIRE SPARKING]
- BIFF: There were four rats.

I wanted zero rats!

Okay.

- Can we stop now?
- [RATS SQUEAKING]

One second.

Sardines.

Canteen?

Who was this guy?

BIFF: Who cares? He d*ed down here.

And he had rope.

This could be us, Joe.

JOE: Yeah.

But we know where we're going.

BIFF: No, we don't!

That stupid Eye does, but
it can't even take us there.

We're not going any
further than this guy.

Where do we go, then?

I've been keeping track of our turns.

We can go back to where
we fell in, and wait.

Someone will come.

I... I won't get another chance.
I need to destroy this thing.

You don't know if you can destroy it!

Your great-grandfather
didn't know if he could.

Well, if I leave without
trying, I'll never know.

[EXHALES]

Did I tell you I'm adopted?

No.

And my mom doesn't know that
I started looking into it.

I wanted to know who my dad was.

So, I thought my mom was
keeping this huge secret.

So, I found out on my own.

Why are you telling this to me?

Because I didn't like what I found.

I was obsessed with
finding out a secret,

and now I'm keeping one.

- Are you telling me to stop?
- Yes, Joe!

Right to your face. Stop.

I don't want this to get any worse.

I have to keep going.

Even if it gets worse.

Take the soup.

Thanks.

[LOUD BANGING]

[PAINED GROAN]

Frank, we can get the
police to open this.

Joe?

[STATIC]

[OVER WALKIE]: Biff, it's
Frank. Can you hear me?

Come on.

Let's go get the police.

Hello?

[STATIC] Hello?

Hello?

Joe?

Joe, it's Frank. Where are you?

JOE [OVER WALKIE]: Frank!

I can barely hear you.

But we're... I'm in the tunnel!

He's right under us.

Joe, are you okay?

Listen, we're gonna get you out.

The fact that you're
getting my signal underground

means you must be really,
really close to us.

Um, okay.

Biff and I have been
down here for hours.

We fell down an old mine shaft.

Uh, we walked through a wall into
the tunnels on the other side.

All we had was gum,
and peppermint, so...

My breath smells pretty good, but...

I have no idea how to get out.

Joey, there's a way out, okay?
It's like, feet from us.

I can guide you to a door,

and as long as you can hear me,
you're going in the right direction.

[BUTTON CLICKS, STATIC]

There's a problem.

Biff isn't with me.

I'll go get the police.

Yeah. Please. Hurry.

Joe, where's Biff?

Joe! Joe, where's Biff?

I know how to find her.

Just wait there. I'll
be back in a second.

[PANTING]

Biff! Biff!

Joe!

[STATIC]

[MELLOW SONG PLAYING]

WILT: Apple pie with cheddar.

Not a lot of folks order
it like that these days.

Well, I, I... I like the way
things used to be, I suppose.

Hey, I hear ya.

No, I actually, I, I...

I went across the street to try
out one of those, those pay phones.

- Mm-hmm.
- The new ones?

Covered in buttons. I didn't, I
didn't know what to do with it.

Yeah, they just replaced it.

- Now everything is just beeps and boops.
- Yeah.

You won't find anything
like that in here.

- I hope not.
- Here.

- [GRUNTS]
- JB: Hey!

- See. Yeah.
- [JB CHUCKLES]

You know, my, my
ex-wife, she used to say,

"If you're in such a
hurry to make a call,

why don't you just
pop over for a visit?"

- Your ex, huh?
- My ex.

Coffee's on me.

- Ha!
- No!

You're a good man.

Yeah. The first time
you've been to my place?

Yep, yeah. First time. But,
uh, won't be the last, though.

No, I'm thinking of
packing everything up,

and moving myself here into Bridgeport.

WILT: Well, you picked a
heck of a time to do it.

- Mm.
- It's been a really hectic summer.

You don't say. Oh, I bet you
must hear about everything

that comes through this town.

Oh, yeah, sure. People love to talk.

I mean, new loves, new babies,

scandals, bankruptcies.

- I mean, I don't want to gossip. Not me.
- Of course not.

- No.
- No, no. People trust you.

People need to know you
can keep their secrets.

Exactly. You got it.

Anybody new, or interesting
come through town recently?

Oh, there was this one

weird family that moved into
this little place on Henry Street.

Weird how?

Ah, they were just, uh,

this couple.

Didn't do much. Didn't say much.

Kinda acted like robots.

And even their tracksuits were weird.

It looked like they were
jogging to a funeral.

That is weird.

I don't want to pass judgment, though.

I mean, the niece, she seems okay.

Stacy. Huh.

Uh, her first week in town, though,

she ran over this really tall guy,

and he was new in town.

Turns out, he was
chasing these Hardy boys.

They're new in town.

Sounds like a lot of new people in town.

- Huh. I guess you're right.
- [JB CHUCKLES SOFTLY]

- I don't want to talk out of turn, though.
- Oh, no, no, no.

- That's why people trust you.
- Yeah.

- [CHUCKLES]
- Gonna get you some ice cream.

Thank you, sir.

[DISTANT SIREN BLARING]

- Henry Street.
- [SPOON CLINKS]

JOE: Biff! Biff!

Joe! I'm over here!

Did you finally realize
how crazy this is?

Are you scared?

- Hey!
- Aah!

Joe!

Frank and Callie are here.

I mean, up there. They're back
this way. Come on. Let's go.

- [OVER WALKIE]: Okay, Frank. I've got Biff.
- [STATIC]

Okay, now start walking
and keep talking.

JOE [OVER WALKIE]: We're walking,
we're walking, we're walking.

Can you still read me?

FRANK: I'm losing you.
Try going the other way.

JOE [OVER WALKIE]: Still walking.

FRANK: Okay, this is good.
You're headed towards the door.

JOE [OVER WALKIE]: If this doesn't work,

it's gonna be the worst way to die.

Yeah.

You know, I didn't apologize to you yet,

so I'd have to live the
rest of my life like that.

[STATIC, JOE CHUCKLES]

BIFF: I didn't think you were coming.

I'm not.

I'll take you to the door,
but I'm not coming with you.

Joe, you're coming out.

JOE [OVER WALKIE]: I'm gonna
destroy this thing, Frank.

I know you want it,
but we don't need it.

Joe, listen to me. I
don't care about The Eye.

I care about you, okay?

Look, whatever we choose
to do, we'll do it together.

JOE [OVER WALKIE]: What if we
don't want to do the same thing?

FRANK: Then we'll find another thing.

Frank!

I think we found it!

- FRANK: Joe!
- JOE: Come on. Let's get the ladder.

[PANTING]

- FRANK: Joe!
- Yeah. We're down here.

There's a ladder. Can you open the door?

FRANK: It's open up here.

It's gotta be locked on your side.

BIFF: Okay, Hardy. You
were made for this moment.

Go pick that lock!

- JOE: It's pretty rusty!
- You got it!

[CLATTERING] CALLIE: Frank!

Biff, are you there?

BIFF: Yeah! Mom, I'm down here!

[JOE GRUNTS]

FRANK: [LAUGHS] You okay?

- JOE: Yeah.
- FRANK: Good.

Come here.

JESSE: Come on, sweetie. Come here.

- Oh, my God. Come here, sweetheart.
- JOE: How many days has it been?

I thought you weren't coming out.

Can't say no to you
when you're emotional.

- [DISTANT SIRENS, HELICOPTER WHIRRING]
- Where are we?

It's the Nabokov storehouse.

I think they built it to hide this.

JOE: Did Stacy tell you that?

Listen, you're going to tell me
what you got my daughter into,

or I'll find a way to
arrest the both of you.

Right now.

[HELICOPTER WHIRRING]

I found out a couple days ago.

I'm sorry I didn't tell you.

FRANK: I mean, we don't exactly
know what the Circle's capable of,

but we're pretty sure they
won't let this hit the news.

We have to do this ourselves.

You two are lucky to be alive.

And even luckier
nothing happened to Biff.

[SIGHS]

One known criminal dead.

Another one missing.

Anyone connected to
this Circle of The Eye

is going to be
impossible to investigate.

You have nothing on Kanika Khan

or Gloria Estabrook beyond speculation.

You saw the chief arrest JB Cox.

But Cox was never brought in.

We also know he was buying that idol.

Because you broke into his house.

I mean, come on, Elizabeth.

You can do something, Mom.

I know you can.

I can drop this right on his
desk. Try to make him talk.

Then he'll know that we know.

JESSE: Yeah. He will.

Um, so, uh, good news
about Joe and Biff.

CHET: Uh, yeah. Good news.

Thanks for saving me back there.

Sure, sure. No problem.

Hay, hay bales probably don't
roll over people like that.

- At least not very often. [CHUCKLES]
- No. No.

I didn't know how strong you were.

Me, neither. [CHUCKLES]

Um, is it okay?

Maybe just... don't talk about it?

- Yeah, yeah. That works. Yeah.
- Yeah. yeah.

Let me buy you a milkshake.
Or is that kind of weird?

No, no. No. That's fine.

I mean, we used to do stuff like that...

- Right, right. Right.
- You know, before.

- Wilt.
- WILT: Yes, sir.

- Uh, you want chocolate?
- Yeah.

Okay. Chocolate, and vanilla for me.

WILT: Coming right up.

STEFAN: Have you been
here all night, ma'am?

GLORIA: I suppose I have, Stefan.

Once I knew Joe was safe,

I realized I wanted to
spend more time in this room.

But I would love a cup of tea.

What the heck happened to you?

Uh, our thief got the better of me.

He has the piece of The
Eye that he stole from Khan.

[HANDLE TURNS, DOOR OPENS]

He's after the other two.

[WHISPERS]: Okay...

- Let's find your brother.
- [DOOR CLOSES]

- [THWACKS]
- [WOOD CLUNKING]

[CHUCKLES]

Hi.

I can kind of see you coming.

[JB GRUNTING]

So can I.

[THWACKS]
