01x10 - Mission 10: You're a Good Moon, Charlie Brown

Post by bunniefuu »

-[groaning] -[CARA] Good morning, astronauts. Ooh!

Big day today. You're beginning your journey back to Ear--

-[drumming] -[screams]

[Woodstock chattering]

[drumming stops]

[grumbling]

[beeping]

There's a problem with the moon!

Look!

What happened to the rest of it? Did Snoopy break it?

No, Sally. Let me show you something.

The moon orbits Earth just like Earth orbits the sun.

Depending on where the moon is in its orbit, the sun lights up different parts of it, making it look like it's changing shape, but it's actually our view of it that's changing.

Okay, I buy it.

But I'm keeping an eye on you.

[humming]

Extra! Extra!

"Hero dog to blast off the moon and return to his faithful owner."

"Faithful owner"? You added that last part, Charlie Brown!

The point is, Snoopy's coming home.

Snoopy, this is Houston. Come in, Snoopy.

It's time to get ready for your launch. Are you excited about coming home?

-[drumming] -[Snoopy groaning]

-[static] -I thought he'd be a little excited.

Oh, I'm sure he is. Let's see what the article says.

"The brave beagle made few remarks, conveying only that landing on the moon was the best day of his life."

"The best day of his life"?

What about when I adopted him from the Daisy Hill Farm?

[soft ballad playing]

[music ends]

[munching, slurping]

I thought that was a pretty great day.

[Woodstock humming]

Okay, astronauts. Here's our launch plan.

Launch plan, not "lunch" plan.

The top half of this lander has its own rocket, which will propel us off the moon's surface.

But to get us into orbit, we have to make sure we are as light as possible.

Previous Apollo astronauts had to leave behind all sorts of things, including camera gear, life-support backpacks, scientific equipment, three lunar rovers, and even their boots.

You must take nothing but the essentials and leave everything else behind.

So are you packed?

[sighs] Perhaps I should've defined "essential."

[Snoopy grunting]

[whimpering]

[angry chattering]

What about the time I took Snoopy for his first walk?

[grunting]

[grunting]

Snap out of it, Charlie Brown.

You can't compete with the moon, no matter how big your head is.

That will be five cents, please.

Sorry, no change.

Good grief.

[whirring, beeping]

[beeping continues]

Once we're in the moon's orbit, you'll have to pilot the lander to dock with Orion.

-[drumming] -[groaning]

-[drumming continues] -[beeping]

[growling]

[drumming stops]

-[drumming on, off] -[both grunting]

[Charlie Brown] If Snoopy's best day changed, I better get ready for all sorts of other things to change too.

Huh?

He really is a world-famous astronaut now.

And I'm just the same old Charlie Brown.

Oh.

Oh!

[CARA] Time to buckle up. The launch is about to begin.

[screams]

[whimpers]

Astronaut Snoopy, come back here!

-This is no time for a joyride. -A-ha!

We have only minutes to launch or we won't be able to dock with Orion and return to Earth.

[screams]

[grunts]

-[Snoopy groaning] -[Woodstock grunts]

[CARA] Nice save, Woodstock!

The journey home begins.

It'll take Orion three days to return to Earth.

I'm not sure I can wait that long.

[beeping]

[beeping]

[typing]

-[gasps] Orion's almost here! -[gasps]

[Marcie] Snoopy's capsule will be splashing down in the ocean, Charles.

If you want to be on the boat to meet him when he lands, you better get moving.

[gasps]

That's the supply closet, Chuck.

[Charlie Brown] Rats.

[birds squawking]

[Franklin] Orion is now reentering Earth's atmosphere and is on track to land at the planned ocean coordinates.

Twenty-five thousand miles per hour.

Twenty thousand miles per hour.

[gulps] This part never gets easier.

Do you mind?

Make yourself at home.

[all] Splashdown!

[chattering]

Let me know when it's safe to look.

I think it's safe now, Charlie Brown.

[soft ballad playing]

Snoopy!

[ballad continues]

[music ends]

[munching, slurping]

[sighs] I guess he missed his food more than he missed me.

I don't know, Charlie Brown.

Maybe he missed you a little more than you think.

But... but how did you--

[Snoopy] Whoo-hoo-hoo-hoo!

Whoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo!

[laughs]

I think we have a new best day.
