Post by bunniefuu »

[Alexa] It had been a week
since Katie told me about NYU,

but she still didn't know
if she'd actually been accepted.

We had decided
to enjoy the end of high school

and not think about it.

-[cell phone beeps]
-[both gasp]

-Was that my e-mail?
-Is it NYU?

It was mine.

[laughs]

Aw, Kyle sent me a picture of his tongue.

Oh, he is really allergic to mustard.

-Holy...
-Is his mother home? God.

And in a couple of months,
they'll leave us.

[sighs] Stupid circle of life. [sniffles]

I'm good.

You're good?

Alexa is graduating on the same day
that Lucas is moving out.

Before you know it, it'll be you, Dave,
and the smoker.

Who do you think's winning that battle?

You know, when Lucas left the first time,
I was a complete mess.

[sighs] I can't imagine
what it's gonna be like when Alexa leaves.

You know,
after everything we've been through.

[phone camera clicks]

I'm gonna stay strong until Alexa leaves,

and then I'll have a big,
sloppy breakdown.

Honey, you cannot schedule your emotions.

Oh, I can.

Yeah, I totally stayed Zen
when Dr. Breitwieser called

and left a message for Alexa,
who still hasn't called him back!

[sighs] My mom's been so weird.

My dad's also been weird,
but, like, a weirder weird.

They're definitely gonna embarrass me
at graduation.

Mm.

-Why did Dr. Breitwieser call you?
-Who knows?

You would... if you call him back.

I'm sure it's nothing...

and I haven't had to see him
in over a year anyway, so...

Awww.

Look at you,

graduating high school.

Alexa, never forget...

you can make a compass with a needle,
a leaf, and a little bit of water.

We gotta get going.

-Yep. Definitely gonna embarrass me.
-Yeah.

All right.

Oh, wait. Wait, wait, before we go...

today is about us,

but tomorrow,

Alexa and I wanna do something
to thank all of you.

We're planning a backyard movie night.

-There'll be food.
-Twinkle lights.

And a movie. In the backyard. [chuckles]

I guess that's obvious.

You know, I'll have Brian drop off
the popcorn machine.

Mmm.

I can't make it.
My roommates and I are throwing

this insane move-in party.

I mean, uh...

we're going to talk about books.

Just don't pick a baby movie.

I'm 11.

I have a hair on my arm.

-Let's go!
-Wait. My sunglasses are in the backyard.

-Oh, sunscreen.
-One more selfie.

[scoffs] Last selfie. Yeah, right.

Hm.

[door shuts]

Oh. Wow.

Feels like just yesterday
we were starting high school.

Mm. [chuckles]

Yeah, I couldn't've gotten through it
without you.

[cell phone alert beep]

Oh, it's me.

-[cell phone alert beep]
-Oh, and me.

It's from UNC.

-Our dorm assignment.
-Wait,

we're sharing a room!

There'll be no tree between us!

[both scream and laugh]

That's great.

Now you just have to hear from NYU.

No, I... I don't.

Look, I have been making us crazy
waiting for NYU,

when I already know how happy I'd be
with you

at UNC.

I am going to UNC.

Really?

Really.

-Really?
-Yes, really!

[both scream and laugh]

Let's go!

I wanna sit close enough
to see you get your diploma

but far enough so I don't embarrass you.

-Oh, yeah.
-Let's go. Come on.

Hey, after all the UNC games I've watched
on TV,

I'm gonna be able to walk to the Dean Dome

Ah. You know, honey, I am so happy to know
that when you go to school,

you'll be exactly where you wanna be.

Nope. [clears throat] I'm a fortress
of emotions locked inside a vault

that won't open until the day you leave.

That'll be a rough day for Dad.

Ooh, Katie and I will get to paint
our faces for games.

Hey, honey, I'm a little worried

that this might not be exactly
what Katie wants.

Fine, she can wear a foam finger.

I mean, how does she know for sure
about UNC

when there's still a chance at NYU?

You know, I had a best friend
in high school, and we were really close,

and then we went to different colleges.

What happened?

I married him.

Oh, great.
Using parents' love against me. [chuckles]

Well, you heard Katie.

I said, "Really?" And she said, "Really!"

And I said, "Really?"
And she said, "Yes, really!"

Nice roommates.

They taught me how to floss.

Speaking of floss,

if you're ever injured,

you can use dental floss
to stitch a wound.

Good to know.

Let me see, baby.

-Nice.
-[groans]

-[rattling window]
-What's going on there?

[groans] It's jammed.

Jack saw a raccoon
and slammed all the windows.

[sighs]

We should really figure out
why he's so afraid of raccoons.

Then again, it does keep him inside.

I wanted to talk to you about NYU.

You still might get in.

It doesn't matter.

I'm not going.

I mean, New York? Acting?

That's crazy.

Remember when, uh...

you were finally old enough
to go down that big waterslide?

Oh, yeah, I was so excited.

But half of me was hoping

that someone would drop a taco
in the pool,

so they'd close
and I could walk back down.

[Katie chuckles]

Then you pushed me.

I nudged you,

and I'm glad I did.

Yeah, it was pretty fun.

you never get to go down the waterslide.

Raccoons climb trees.

Trees go to windows.

Windows go to me.

I hate raccoon season.

Of course we're going to school together.

And neither does mine.

Okay, this only works

because of this.

You're right.

How about, for a whole day,
we're not friends? Okay?

after I tell you:

I care about you.

Go get gummy worms. I ate all of yours.

Mmm. Oh.

Seven seconds.

Wait, movie night's tomorrow.
We were gonna thank everyone.
