07x26 - The Confession

Post by bunniefuu »

- Feeling better now?
- Yes, Mommy.

- Anything?
- I tried to talk to her. Nothing.

- She's suffering extreme withdrawal.
NLAKE: Hmm.

Mommy, why is Sarah on the floor?

Well, she's not feeling very well
right now, darling.

Nut we're gonna make sure
that she gets well soon.

Nut first thing we're gonna do is
get you over to Dr. Chadway

and have him take a look at you.
Is that all right?

Oh, yes, of course.
We'll take care of Mrs. Curtis.

- I have to see Mr. Carrington.
- I'm sorry, Mrs. Colby, but--

- Blake.
- He isn't here, Alexis.

- Where is he?
- Probably with the police.

Kristina is still missing.

Oh, I suppose
you're concerned about that.

Yes. Of course, I am.

Are you also concerned
about what's happening to my son?

Yes. I love Adam very much.

Oh, you worshipped him from afar
but you never dared to talk to him.

And then when you found out
that he was a Carrington,

you made your move.

That is sick, Alexis.

No, Dana. What is sick is
what you are doing to my son.

I have just had to go
and bail him out of jail.

- What?
- Yes.

The police found him lying drunk
in an alley.

You know what happened
when I went to see him?

He refused to see me.
He told me to leave.

Look, Alexis, I am sorry for whatever
has happened to Adam.

- Nut for you to blame me--
- Yes, yes, I do blame you.

And I hold you responsible
for what's happening with Adam.

For my own son to run away from me,
do you know what that means?

My God, I have tried to tell everyone
that something is wrong with Adam.

Except nobody would listen to me.
And that includes you, Alexis.

That's right.
You have been trying to tell us.

All right. Let's find out what it is.

Now I'm listening.

I need $ in cash.

- I'm going to need a cheque.
- I don't have my cheque book with me.

- In that case I'm afraid I can't--
- Afraid of what?

What do I need a check for, anyway?
I live here, damn it.

Charge it to my account.

Of course. I'll get the money.

Mr. Carrington,
this message was left for you.

"Please call. Alexis."

If you'll just sign here,
Mr. Carrington.

Thank you.

- Hello, Carrington.
- Wales.

- Can I buy you a drink?
- I buy my own.

I'd like to talk to you
about your mother

and her involvement
with Trouville lndustries.

- What's going on?
- I'm sorry. I'm just on my way out.

Keep trying to reach Blake Carrington.
It's important.

My secretary told me
that you were here waiting for me.

- What do you want?
- Do you really dare ask me that?

[SNlCKERS]

And do you really dare
barge into my office uninvited?

Oh, let's get our priorities straight,
Alexis.

Office invasions
versus internal frauds.

[SCOFFS]

And what exactly
do you mean by that?

In case nobody's bothered
to mention it to you,

Trouville's stock has plunged.

It means we've both lost
a great deal of money

and I'm not in the habit of losing.

Neither am l. We'll just have to have
the matter investigated.

You'll be sure
to whitewash the findings.

Isn't that the way
you're going to protect him?

- lsn't it?
- Protect whom?

The stock dropped
because of a leak.

It didn't come from my staff.
I can vouch for them.

I wonder if you can do the same.

I certainly can.

Including your son?

You know, the one who drinks a lot.
And maybe talks a lot?

Adam may have his problems,
his personal problems,

- but he wouldn't do that.
- Not to his mother.

Certainly not to his mother.
He is my flesh and blood.

And if you accuse him,
you accuse me.

Okay, Kristina, that's enough.

- I'd like you to get some rest, hmm?
- All right.

- Have a good nap, darling.
- Yes. We'll see you in a little while.

I'll stay with her
and read her a story.

What would you like for me
to read to you?

- "Goldilocks."
- "Goldilocks."

That's what it'll be.

[CHUCKLES]

Doctor, are you sure
that she's all right?

Her lungs are clearing up nicely.

I want you to watch her, of course.
Nut she's fine.

Excuse me.
Sergeant Nenson just arrived.

He says he as a report
about Mrs. Curtis.

Oh, thank you, Gerard.
Thank you.

She's in a secured psychiatric section
at Cheney Hospital.

What?

Sergeant, Sarah Curtis
is a very sick woman.

You know that. You've seen her.
She's shut herself off from the world.

- Now, she needs special care.
- I don't write the laws.

- That woman took your child.
- All right then.

Then I am not gonna press charges
against Mrs. Curtis.

And my lawyers
will be down to get her released.

And for her own best interests,

I'm gonna have her transferred
to a private sanatorium. Is that clear?

Very clear.

Uh, Mr. Carrington,
if I'm ever in any sort of trouble, l...

I wouldn't mind having you
in my corner.

Mrs. Carrington.

I'm glad I have you in my corner.
Thank you for that.

Well, what Sarah did
was frightening,

and she might have been responsible
for something terrible

happening to Kristina.

Nut how do you desert her
after what she's done for us?

- Hello, Mrs. Colby.
- Hello, Mr. Wales.

Oh, don't tell me that your ubiquitous
tape recorder has, uh, disappeared.

Well, it's still being repaired from
the time you flung it across the office.

Nut I have a very good memory,
so I think I'll just depend on that.

- As you ask me about...?
- Dirk Maurier.

Ah, Dirk Maurier. Yes, the name does
ring a bell. What about him?

You first met him
at a Hollywood party, correct?

Hmm.

And then he flew to Denver
and gave a party

at, uh, which
you were the guest of honour.

Hmm, really?
Yes. I didn't realise that.

Well, let's amend that then
to target of honour.

- Meaning?
- He obviously wanted to get

you interested in going in
on a deal with him.

You bit and blew a bundle
in the process.

That's right.

And that concludes my business
dealings with Mr. Maurier.

- And with you, Mr. Wales.
- Not yet, Mrs. Colby.

I'd like to talk to you about your son,
Adam.

- He has nothing to do with this.
- Heh, I didn't say he did.

Nut I saw him this morning and
he looked a little, uh, worse for wear.

How my son looks is no concern

of your readers of
World Finance Magazine.

Your son's a Carrington.
Anything the Carringtons do

is of interest to my magazine
and its readers.

Look, Mr. Wales,
I'm a very busy woman.

I have a lot of things on my mind
and I'd like you to leave.

I'm just trying to get information that
might be of help to you, Mrs. Colby.

And, um, I'm gonna be interviewed
on television tonight.

[SCOFFS]

I thought I might say
some nice things about you.

Heh.

Do that.

Oh, by the way, I forgot to ask,

have you put up any money
for the nephew's new venture?

- What nephew?
- Gavin Maurier.

I have no idea who Gavin Maurier is.

I thought perhaps you might have
gotten into bed with him.

Financially speaking.

Until next time, Mrs. Colby.

Goodbye, Mr. Wales.

WALES [ON TELEVlSlON]:
Would I say

that the abortive takeover attempt
of Trouville Industries

hit the market today
like a shock wave?

Well, indeed I would.
And with predictable results.

The usually successful
corporate raider, Dirk Maurier,

and the usually formidable
Alexis Colby

came out multi-million-dollar losers.

But the big question is,
was there an inside leak?

And if so, from which camp?

Mauriers or Mrs. Colby's?

Whichever, somebody is probably
harbouring a traitor.

Nlake, I think
that this drinking of Adam's

is just a symptom
of what's really wrong with him.

We've got to help him.

Dana thinks it could be something
between Dr. Edwards and Adam.

Dr. Edwards? Does she have any idea
what it might be?

No. Nut maybe you and l
should fly to Nillings tomorrow

and find out what it is.

Perhaps that's one way
to get at the truth.

Don't bother.

I am the truth.

This lie is the truth.

Darling, you're trembling.
Are you ill?

I'll go call a doctor.

Don't call anyone.
Nobody's going to help me.

- Now, Adam, listen--
- I'm not Adam.

- I'm not Adam Carrington.
- You don't need that, son.

I'm not your son.
My name is Michael Torrance.

- Adam, you're drunk.
- I may be drunk but ask Dr. Edwards--

Well, what's Dr. Edwards
got to do with it?

He'll tell you
how my grandmother d*ed.

A sick woman with sick delusions.
Ask Neal McVane.

ALEXlS: McVane?
- That pig who made me betray you.

- Betray me? How?
- He had proof.

- He showed me pictures.
- What pictures?

A baby boy wrapped in a blanket
with the name Adam sewn into it.

A baby boy with
a scratch on his forehead.

- Yes. That's you.
- No.

The baby who d*ed,

he was your real son.

Oh, my God.

There was a price to pay
for keeping the secret.

I had to tell McVane
what was happening.

With you and Maurier.

Trouville lndustries.
I had to betray you.

You reinstated me in your will
and I betrayed you too.

Nut that's all over with now.
You're free of me. I'm leaving.

NLAKE: And where are you going?
- Away.

I have to get out of your lives.
I don't belong in them.

- Adam.
- That is not my name.

And you aren't my parents.

My parents were k*lled in a car crash
a long time ago.

And I'd like to die too.

- Now, wait.
- For what?

Now, you're in no condition
to go anywhere.

Now, please.
Sit down and we'll talk about this.

There's nothing more to talk about.

Don't you understand?

This has been tearing at my gut.
I'm nothing.

I'm nobody.

Oh.

Oh, Nlake.

It's as if
we've lost the same son twice.

[SlGHS]

Immaculate air,
windswept moments.

Ah, pity those trapped
behind four faceless walls.

Just a little ode
to the great outdoors.

You're an engineer, Clay, not a poet.

And we're supposed to be working.

Ah, yes, Leslie Carrington.
My favourite drudge.

Look, I'm not used to making love
alfresco at : in the morning

on a surveying trip.
And I don't intend to start now.

Nut we've got all day to survey.

Look. Cut it out.
Even as a joke I just don't like it!

What is it with you, Leslie,
since yesterday?

I'm moody, okay?

And right now my mood
is vastly negative, okay?

No, it's not okay.
There's something else.

You're right. It's called work. It's what
we're supposed to be doing here.

We're not supposed to be
talking about

about you or me or negatives
or positives or your father or my fa--

I didn't mention either one.

Ah, it's nothing.

No, you don't indulge in nothings,
Leslie.

I asked you a question.
I want the answer right now.

Don't get tough with me.

I don't have to answer to anyone
I don't want to.

It's about my father, isn't it?

Um...

He phoned me last night.

And, uh...

He said he thought
it was a swell idea if I left Denver.

- And you.
- What?

And I told him
to please leave me alone,

and then he offered me money.

My God.

Does he hate me that much?

[KNOCKlNG ON DOOR]

- Hi, Steven.
- Dana, hi. Come on in.

Thank you.

Have you heard from Adam?

Nobody's heard a word since
he walked out of the house last night.

He's disappeared.

I can't stop thinking
that somehow this is my fault.

No. Dana, don't blame yourself.

You couldn't possibly have known
about McVane and all the rest.

Adam loves you. He'll be back.

You aren't really sure of that.

I'm as confused as you are.

And Dad and Mother.
She phoned just a little while ago.

She's devastated.

It all happened so fast.
She said she couldn't sleep last night.

Neither could l.

I spent the night
phoning the people we knew.

And then I drove down
to that awful neighbourhood

where Adam got into that fight.

And I walked from one bar to the next,
hoping and praying I would find him.

And this morning I phoned the police

to see if maybe
they'd picked him up again.

Or worse.

- Don't even think that.
- I do. How can I help it?

Adam has behaved so strangely.

He has said such terrible things.

He had a breakdown once.

And I'm so afraid
he's heading for another one.

I love him so much
and I am so afraid for him.

And I don't know
what to do to bring him back.

I know what I'm gonna do.
I'm gonna find him.

I promise.

If the drug I'm about to give her works,
it will pull her out of the withdrawal.

It could make her
more communicative.

At least it'll give us a place
from which to start.

How can I help?

Try speaking to her, Mrs. Carrington.
She may recognise you.

Sarah?

Sarah, can you hear me?

Sarah?

Yes?

- Do you know who I am?
- No.

Well, I know who you are.
You're Sarah Curtis.

Cathy's mother.

- Who are you?
- Krystle.

Krystle Carrington. Your friend.

I don't know any Carringtons.

Where's my baby?

I... Please,
what have you done to my baby?

Please. What...? What...?

What...? What...?

[GASPlNG]

She still thinks her daughter's alive.

And she'll remain in this condition
until she faces the truth.

Nut she will, eventually.

Maybe, maybe not.

You've been a regular chatterbox
for the last hour.

- If that's a dig of some sort--
- No, no, no.

It's your father, isn't it?

Yeah. I've been thinking
about the call he made to you.

About our families and
how they've been warring for years.

Well, they're
the Hatfields and the McCoys.

The Montagues and the Capulets.
So, what else is new?

- It's not funny.
- Ha, ha.

I know it isn't, Clay.
Nut what can we do about it?

We can put a stop to it.

I want you to come back
to my apartment with me, Leslie.

I want you to move in with me.

You're not just asking me
to get back at your father?

That is a rotten question.

The answer is no.

- So, you love me?
- Yes.

I have ever since our first fight.

[CHUCKLES]

Tell me something.
Do you expect to share my toothpaste?

Sure. Nut you can use
my shaving cream. It's menthol.

[BOTH CHUCKLE]

Deal?

Deal.

[PHONE BEEPS]

Yes?

Oh, put him through, please.

- Is it Adam?
- No, Steven.

Dad, I'm in Nillings.

I talked to Dr. Edwards
and he has no idea where Adam is.

Ah.

Have you checked
with all his old friends?

I've got a list of names.

- I'm gonna get in touch with them.
- Good. Good idea.

- Is Mother there with you?
- Yes. Yes, she is.

Would you tell her that I'm not going to
give up until I find him?

All right. I'll tell her that, son.
Right. Nye.

No trace of Adam.

Nut Steven says to tell you

that he's not gonna give up
until he finds him.

Oh, that's wonderful, Nlake.

When the chips are down,
they seem to forget

all their petty rivalries
and jealousies.

I'm proud of Steven.

Proud of one
and worried about the other.

Oh, Nlake.

We've got to find him.

We'll find him.

No matter where he's gone,
we'll find him.

[CHURCH BELL RlNGlNG]

Why?

Why did you lie to me?

Why couldn't you just let me live
my life as Michael Torrance?

I should hate you.

But I can't.

Necause whatever you did,

you were good to me all those years.

Nut, oh, Kate, why did you lie?

[CRYlNG]

You have no right to be here,
Steven.

I wanted to talk to you.

Why?

Maybe because
you need somebody right now.

- And, I'm your brother.
- I don't need anyone.

And you're not my brother.

Your name is Carrington.
And mine isn't. Now, please go.

Steven, I want you to leave.

Adam, whatever you think
your name is,

there are a lot of people back home
who care about you.

- I don't want their pity.
- Nobody pities you.

If you really love Dana,
you'll come back with me.

You can turn away
from everybody else,

but you don't walk out on somebody
who loves you as much as she does.

[PHONE BEEPS]

- Yes?
DANNY: Grandpa?

- Danny? Is that you?
- Yes.

- How did you get my number?
- I pushed the button Daddy pushes.

[LAUGHS]

Well, this is a nice surprise.
Now, what can I do for you, son?

Can you please lend me
some money?

Money? Well, may I ask what for?

I wanna run away.

Oh, I see.

Well, yeah, I know
it's not easy running away from home

without money in your pockets,
Danny,

but would you stay right there
until I can bring you that money?

Okay.

Now, wait for me.

Well, how much money
you gonna be needing?

A few dollars
and maybe some quarters.

Well, I think you're gonna need
a lot more than that.

This is a big world
and a lot of it is very expensive.

Now, you're planning on going
to another town, aren't you?

Yes.

Well, you're gonna need
carfare, too.

- I forgot about that.
- Yeah.

Now, I know that you're gonna miss
a lot of things around here.

I'm gonna miss feeding Valez.
Nut he'll understand.

Yeah.

Danny, this is something
very serious, isn't it?

It is.

You've made up your mind
that you really wanna go?

Yep.

Well, what am I gonna say
to Kristina?

- Kristina?
- Yeah.

You said that
when she was safe and back home

that you wanted to come over
to the house and play with her.

Well, if you're gonna run away,
you're not gonna be able to do that.

She's gonna be disappointed,
isn't she?

Maybe I can stay and play with her
and then run away.

Now that's a good idea.

I'll tell you what.

Why don't you come back home
with me and spend the night with us.

And then tomorrow morning

you can play with Kristina
before you run away.

- I'll go get my pyjamas.
- Okay.

Did you hear some of that?

Yes.

What's happening?

I think he's still upset
over Kristina being kidnapped.

Yeah, but Kristina's back home.
Danny knows that.

There must be more to it than that.

Yes, there is.

Sammy Jo,
I can't help if I'm in the dark.

Come on now.

What is it? What's wrong?

NlCK:
Well, were you thoroughly impressed?

Oh, ha, ha, three oil wells? Of course.
I was very impressed.

With you and the way
you're handling your success.

My head is still the same size,
is that what you mean?

That, and I like the way
you treat your crew.

They are a great bunch of guys.

- You hungry?
- I'm starved.

Let's see what we've got here.

Well-- Ha.

Two beers and a soda.
So much for lunch.

How about dinner tonight?

I guess I really have no choice.

Where shall we fly this time?
Uh, Kansas City? New Orleans?

How about the moon?

Nick, uh, I'm a two-time loser.

And three times is out.
Yes, I know the cliche.

Well, here's another one for you.

- Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
- Oh, please, Nick.

Listen to me.

I love you.

And I know you care about me too,

even though sometimes
you're afraid to admit it.

But let's be honest with ourselves.

Let's grab hold of happiness
while we can.

We have a real chance here,
Dominique.

We can make it.

I know we can make it.

NLAKE: Adam didn't come back
with you?

No.

- What does he plan to do?
- He wouldn't say.

- Just that he wanted to be left alone.
- Did he leave a number?

- No. I tried, Dad.
- Yes. I know you did.

- Dad, can I ask you something?
- Yeah, sure.

Why did you bring Danny
to the house?

Well, let's say
it was a delaying action, Steven.

What does that mean?

You're gonna have to find some way
to make that little boy understand

that it's not his fault
that you and Sammy Jo separated.

His world is falling apart
and he needs help.

And he needs it quickly.

[KNOCKlNG ON DOOR]

Who is it?

Oh, my God.

Oh, God,
I've been so worried about you.

Steven told me--

That I wouldn't come back with him.
I needed time to think.

Well, I took an hour,
and then I caught the next flight back.

And all the way,
I kept trying to figure out

how I was gonna ask you
to forgive me.

You just have. And I do.

Dana.

Will you come away with me?

Anywhere.

I can't live here anymore.
Not as Michael Torrance.

Whatever you want, Adam,
whatever.

I just know that
I have to have you near me.

I want us to forget this nightmare
that I've put you through.

I want us to start living
our lives together.

And...

...I want you to marry me.

Will you?

Yes.

Yes. Oh, yes.

I need you.
Oh, I need you forever.

GERARD:
Good evening, Miss Deveraux.

Someone's waiting to see you
in the conservatory.

Really, Gerard? Who is it?

Well, she said
she wanted it to be a surprise.

She?

Jackie.

Oh, Mother.

Oh, why didn't you let me know
you were coming?

I wanted to surprise you.

Look at you.
You look just beautiful. Neautiful.

Come. Tell me.

- How was New York?
- Well, it was terrific.

- Yes?
- Yes.

Father took me to two plays,
two ballets, and a nightclub.

You really like Garrett,
don't you, Jackie?

I love him, Mother.

That makes me very happy.

And, Mother, he still loves you.

Jackie, please.
Did Garrett tell you that?

Oh, I know by the look in his eyes
and the questions that he asks.

He'd like us all to be together again.

Oh, Jackie.

[SlGHS]

Is that what you want, too?

More than anything else
in the world.

I wanna know why
you had to involve my father in this.

- This is between you and me.
- I know that.

Nut I didn't involve him.
Our son did.

That's how desperate Danny is.

- And you just let him leave the house?
- He's miserable here.

I thought a night away
might be good for him.

It's painful to see him so unhappy.

This used to be a happy house
at one time. And I feel helpless.

Necause I don't know
what you're doing with your life.

- That's my concern.
- And Danny is our concern.

Our son has gotten to the point

where he calls his grandfather
for getaway money.

I've lost you, Steven. And now
I feel like I'm losing Danny, too.

I know how you feel right now.

Can't you understand
what I'm going through?

- I try to.
- Nut you can't. Or you won't.

I do try.

And sometimes I wonder
why we can't reach

some sort of compromise.

Can't we put the pain that Danny's
going through before ourselves?

What do you suggest we do?
We live a sham?

That we pretend that we're a family
and then it falls apart

when he gets older and realises
that nothing in his life was real?

Our love for him is real.

Then it's gonna have to get it
from us separately.

Except he's finding it so hard.

Nut you, you don't really care,
do you?

You're into some self-pity right now.

Sammy Jo, listen to me--

No, I'm tired of listening
to your empty words.

Necause that's what
they are to me. Empty.

So if you just came here
to do nothing,

don't bother coming back again.

Get out, Steven. Just get out.

Well, I guess we're about ready.

Are you having second thoughts
about this?

No.

It's just that you'll be giving up friends
who mean a lot to you.

We'll make new ones.

Well...

I was thinking more about family.

I know they're not really my family,
but I'm gonna miss them.

Blake and Alexis are the only parents
I've ever known.

- Darling, if you'd rather not go--
- No.

We have to.

[KNOCKlNG ON DOOR]

And there's the taxi.

- May we come in?
ADAM: Yes, of course.

- Hello, Dana.
- Alexis.

Steven said we might find you here,
Adam.

- Hello, Dana.
- Hi, Blake.

Well, that's quite a lot of luggage
for a weekend trip.

We're leaving Denver,
right after we get married.

Married? When?

Today at city hall.

And then
you're just gonna go away?

ADAM: That's right.
- Leaving your family?

We've been through all that.
I'm not family.

You're not going anywhere, Adam.
You're not going anywhere.

You're going to stay here in Denver

and get married
in the Carrington Mansion,

your home, as planned.

And as our son.

But I'm not your son.

Don't argue with Nlake.

You never won before
and you're not going to win this one.

ADAM:
Nut I've already explained.

We don't care
what Dr. Edwards told you.

We don't care
if your name is Adam or Michael.

We'll find out in good time,
but even if we don't find out, so what?

The important thing is
that in our hearts you are still our son.

We love you.

We love you very, very much.

And that in itself
makes you one of us.

What the devil
brings you to Denver?

You seem a bit out of sorts,
Uncle Dirk.

Is that bath
you took in Trouville lndustries

as bad as I heard it was?

You win some, you lose some.

Well, you did gain a beautiful partner.
Alexis Colby.

Is she teed off at you these days,
uncle?

It's mutual.

So, what are you doing here?

You're worried the Trouville fiasco

is going to affect the cash
I've been pouring into your toy factory?

The plane I'm working on
is gonna make aviation history.

I like my toy.

Knowing you, of course,
you intend to test-fly it yourself.

What else?

Testing's the only fun part
of making the damn things.

You're right, though.

I am anxious to know
whether or not

you're gonna cut me off
on the development.

It's already been done.

I phoned my people
less than an hour ago.

I can't keep lending you money
until my own position's firmed up.

- Sorry, Gavin.
- No, you're not.

You didn't like my father
and you don't take to me.

That's the way it goes
with the fabulous Mauriers.

Nut somehow we always seem to
come out on top, each in his own way.

So don't worry about me.

I'll get the money I need.

Somehow.

- Mr. Dexter?
- Yeah?

Gavin Maurier.

I wanna thank you for seeing me.
I know you're busy.

Well, I am, but that's no problem.

Heard about your company
and the jet you're building.

How do you feel about it?

Your plane?
I've got no opinion one way or another.

I know you get a lot of good press.
That's all I know about it.

What is it you wanna talk to me about,
Mr. Maurier?

I need capital.

I wanna offer your company
a very attractive participation in mine.

That simple.

Yeah, well, that kind of investment,
um, I'm really not interested in.

And Lex-Dex is no longer in business.
It's terminated.

Does that mean you and Mrs. Colby
aren't partners anymore?

Heh, that's what it means.

Well, that's a bit of news
that hadn't caught up with me.

It just did.

I understand you and Mrs. Colby
were married.

Right. Were.

I hear she's quite a woman.

Tell me something, Mr. Maurier.

Did you come here to do business
or to find out about Alexis Colby?

Either way, I'm busy.

[KNOCKlNG ON DOOR]

- What is it? What are you doing here?
- You're finished.

- What the hell are you talking about?
- It's all over, McVane.

My family knows everything.

- How did they find out?
- I told them.

And Carrington or Torrance,
they've accepted me for whoever I am.

And as for the rest of the world
and what it thinks, I don't give a damn.

No. You're pulling
some kind of a bluff.

You wouldn't jeopardise
your whole future.

It's your future that's in jeopardy,
McVane.

I've been to the police
and sworn a complaint.

I'm charging you with blackmail.

And that, Mr. Congressman,
is in direct violation of your parole.

- Wait a minute.
- You're going back to jail, McVane.

[DOOR CLOSES]

Forgive me, Mrs. Colby.
I didn't see you come in.

Oh, well, I'm just browsing, looking
for a wedding present for someone.

Of course. You'll let me know
if I can be of assistance.

Oh, yes. Thank you.

GAVlN: Neautiful, isn't it?
- Yes. Neautiful. It's almost--

Alive?

What are you thinking?

[CHUCKLES]

That this same thing
happened to me a long time ago.

What did you do?

Oh, l...

I took a deep breath and--

And when you let it out,
you were in love.

Who are you?

Your future.
