NARRATOR: Previously on X-MEN...

-Cyclops is waiting for me.
-So am I.

ROGUE:
Where the heck are the lovebirds?

GAMBIT: Who cares?
Let them be alone for a change.

(GROWLING)

XAVIER: This is as close
as I can pinpoint their location.

Pay the price for attacking Morlocks.

Scott and Jean pick
one strange romantic hideaway, non?

Shut up.

Welcome. I am Callisto.

Where's Jean?

(WOLVERINE ROARING)

Jean. You okay?

JEAN: Cyclops. Oh, no.

(SOBBING)

Destroy the X-Men.

(MORLOCKS SCREAMING)

You've lost.

Wolverine? Jean and I wanted
to thank you for...

JEAN: He's gone.

CYCLOPS: Why would Wolverine
just leave without telling anyone?

JEAN:
Well, he must have had a good reason.

I don't buy that, Jean.
You know that temper of his.

If he doesn't get his way, he's gone.
We can never depend on him.

With hotheads like Wolverine
maybe we never will.

-Any guy who'd run out on his friends...
-Cyclops.

I... He left because of me.

(WIND HOWLING)

(EXHALES)

There's no place like home.

SABRETOOTH:
I've tracked you far enough, Wolverine.

(SCREAMING)

Revenge is a dish best served cold.

WOLVERINE: Sabretooth.
I should've smelled you coming.

You've lost it, pal. Ten years ago,
I never could have got this close.

-I can still handle punks like you.
-Enough.

(SCREAMING)

SABRETOOTH: You thought you
and your pitiful X-Men could stop me?

Goodbye, old friend.

Let the ice be your tombstone.

Here lies Wolverine,
alone and defeated.

No! You won't cheat me of my revenge.

(GRUNTING)

Not even your mutant healing powers

can keep you alive on a chunk of ice
in the middle of the Arctic.

At least I won't have to listen
to your flapping mouth anymore.

SABRETOOTH:
You'll die frozen and alone.

But I'll track you down,

just for the pleasure
of burying your bones.

CYCLOPS: I won't have you spreading
lies and disrupting the team.

GAMBIT: You afraid you'll lose your
job? You won't be leader no more?

You either follow orders
like the other members of this team,

or you're out of it.

-Cyclops.
-If you want to settle this, mon ami,

then let's do it.

Gambit. What started this?

Ask Cyclops.
He's the one with all the answers.

I'm sorry, Professor,
but I thought it was dangerous

for Gambit to spread
unfounded rumors.

It's not a rumor.
I know someone who was there.

The Genoshans, they welcome mutants
to their island.

I just say check it out
and this one gets mad.

You're as bad as Wolverine.

You just want to get away
to lie around on a beach.

That's not such a bad idea. You've all
been under a lot of stress lately.

For the good of the team,
maybe we all need a chance to unwind.

And if the inhabitants of Genosha
are encouraging mutants

to live among them,
this is an opportunity we can't miss.

Genosha could be
an example for the world.

-That would be incredible.
-Select three X-Men, Cyclops,

and send them to investigate
Genosha for us.

And you try to relax a little.

Okay, Storm, you'll head the team,
seconded by Gambit.

Formidable!

Please, Cyclops, can I go? Please?

Sure, Jubilee, I guess
a beach can't be too dangerous.

You'll take a commercial flight
to Genosha.

Your cover is that you're tourists.

All right, team. We have
a great deal to do to get ready.

Oh, gosh, what'll I wear?

Remember, act like tourists, but keep
your eyes open. You're on a mission.

Relax, Cyclops. All work and no play
make Jacques a dull boy.

-Maybe we could all use a vacation.
-Yeah, from Gambit.

(GROANING)

He's alive.

If we take him
to the government settlement,

there should be
a reward for our trouble.

Maybe enough for a new snowmobile.

Our way is to help a stranger, Kiyoek,

not to use him to beg for money.
We'll take him to our camp.

-We can tend to the stranger there.
-You heard Pooyetah.

The words of the elders are law.

(MOTOR HUMMING)

A motor? Out here?

You have a coward's luck, Wolverine.

What? Where am I? Who are you?

I am Pooyetah, elder of this camp.

But save your strength. You need rest.
You almost d*ed in the cold, stranger.

Call me Wolverine.
And I'm fine now, almost...

No man recovers from the ice so fast.

Yeah, well, I'm a... You don't know,
do you? You've never heard of us.

-I don't understand.
-Good. Let's just say I'm a fast healer.

A little work will help get the kinks
out of my system.

Besides, I owe you something
for saving my life.

MAN ON PA: First call. All passengers.

Pan Air Flight 917,
now boarding at Gate 32.

-That's our flight. We'd better hurry.
-All right. Genosha, here we come.

I hope I brought the right clothes.
I've never been to a resort before.

Don't worry, little one. All you need's
a swimsuit and some sunscreen.

Just do as you're told
and stay out of the way.

-It takes skill to handle the nets.
-You mean like this?

(MEN EXCLAIMING)

-It's all in the wrist.
-You'll see how well the Inuit fish.

(WOLVERINE LAUGHING)

Reminds me of the story
about the one that got away,

but I never put much stock
in fish stories.

(MEN LAUGHING)

This is the best catch since
the big ships came from the south

-and took all the fish.
-We were lucky today.

Where do I put these?

The stranger has
the strength of a polar bear.

He's not so strong.

(GRUNTING)

(STRAINING) See?

(ALL LAUGHING)

The people are happy tonight
because of you.

They've made me happy, too.
I don't know how to handle it.

It feels so strange. I feel at peace.

No man seeks peace so hard as one
who does not have it in his heart.

I wish I could tell you.

Only you can decide
when the time is right,

-then you will speak.
-Thanks.

Come, Wolverine.
It's your turn to celebrate.

Oh, no, no, you've got the wrong guy.
I get airsick.

(CHUCKLING) We all need to forget
ourselves and be a child again.

Well, don't say I didn't warn you.

(WOLVERINE EXCLAIMS)

Hey. Watch it. Come on, now.

I was the one they cheered
before Wolverine.

(PEOPLE LAUGHING)

Now he's their hero. A stranger.

(SABRETOOTH GROWLING)

(GASPS)

(SNIFFING)

You have the stink of Wolverine
all around you.

I did not believe. A snow demon.

The friends of my enemies
are my enemies.

No. The stranger is not my friend.

I was leader of the young men,
but now they follow only Wolverine.

The women laugh at me. Wolverine
has made me a fool to my own people.

You wouldn't lie to me,
would you, human?

Never. The snow demons can read
the truth in your eyes.

I'm no snow demon.
I'm a mutant, just like Wolverine.

I don't understand.

You only have to understand one thing.
Revenge.

-You want Wolverine gone?
-Yes.

Then do what I say.

WOMAN ON PA:
Pan Air Flight 917, now arriving.

Welcome to Genosha.

Would he say that
if he knew we were mutants?

STORM:
That's what we're here to find out.

JUBILEE: I can't wait to get down to
the beach. This place is like a dream.

Welcome to the Genosha Beach Inn.
We hope you enjoy your stay with us.

I'll just check to make sure
your bungalow's ready.

Hey. Check this out.

"Ask about our mutant discount."

What do you think?

We save maybe 1O%, n'est-ce pas?

-Just put it back, Gambit.
-You're no fun to travel with.

I've got the perfect rooms for you.
Just perfect.

I'm sure you'll find
your stay interesting.

(BELL RINGS)

Show our guests to Bungalow 12.

I just want to get into my swimsuit
and down to the beach.

New arrivals. I think you'll like them.

KIYOEK: Only a coward
sits on the shore.

Are you brave enough to hunt
with me on the open sea?

Wolverine has nothing
to prove to you, Kiyoek.

But what about to someone else?
An old enemy or an old friend.

-Your jealousy has made you stupid.
-It's all right, Pooyetah.

I accept your challenge, Kiyoek.

I think we've come far enough.

We still have far to go
to the hunting ground.

The hunt ends here, Kiyoek.

You didn't bring me out here to look
for seals. What's really going on?

You are a mutant.

-Who told you about mutants?
-I... I don't...

(expl*si*n)

The fishing camp.

What happened?

(SNIFFING)

I knew it. Sabretooth.

There's no peace for me, even here.

-This is all my fault.
-KIYOEK: No, Wolverine.

I thought you made the people
laugh at me. I wanted revenge.

The other stranger said
lead you away from camp.

I thought to lead you into a trap,
but I didn't know about this.

You miserable...

No, you didn't do this.

I thought I could forget what I've been.

Some things
you just have to face, alone.

All right, Sabretooth.
What are you doing here?

These are my people. I must find them.
Your fight is my fight now.

The glacier's too dangerous for you,
and so is Sabretooth.

-No.
-SABRETOOTH: Wolverine.

What's wrong, old man?
My fun interrupt your fishing?

What have you done with Pooyetah
and the others?

I always like to have an edge in a fight.
Your friends are over there.

What?

(KIYOEK GASPS)

It's only a coward like you
who would care about these people.

You've got one minute to save them.

All you got to do is come through me.

Let them go, Sabretooth.
I don't want to fight you anymore.

I don't care who started it.
It's time to bury it.

I'll bury it, all right.

Look out.

SABRETOOTH:
You've gone soft, Wolverine.

Xavier's got you
kissing up to these scum.

This is the last battleground
for one of us.

(ROARING)

You always were slower than me.
Give it up, Sabretooth.

Never.

(SCREAMS)

My eyes.

You were never a match
for me, Wolverine.

This time I'm making sure.

It's always hard to say goodbye
to an old friend.

No.

You should have stayed
out of my way, insect.

Be nice to the guy, Sabretooth.
He's our host.

(SCREAMING)

Lots of luck, pal. Stay gone this time.

POOYETAH: No. There is no time.

WOLVERINE: We'll make time.

(BEEPING)

WOLVERINE: Because of me
your people have lost their village.

-I want to help you rebuild it.
-POOYETAH: Thank you, my friend.

But we are moving on. For years,
many have wanted to move to the city.

Now they have their wish.

The old ways are no more.

The young ones will have to find
a new way for the people to live.

You called me friend.

I could live at the beach forever.
I don't ever want to go home.

You said it, ch?re.
This is my kind of mission.

The Genoshans' acceptance
of mutants seems to be genuine.

But we still have
a great deal of checking to do.

I suggest we go to our rooms,
finish unpacking and get some sleep.

I'll unpack, but I don't think
I'll be able to sleep.

-I've never seen Jubilee so happy.
-Maybe Genosha is a paradise.

(GASPS)

(COUGHING)

JUBILEE: Gas! Storm, Gambit
what's happening?

We've got to get out.

(ALL COUGHING)

GENOSHAN COMMANDER:
Surrender, mutants.

No, Gambit.
We cannot endanger human life.

Maybe you can't.

JUBILEE: No.
