and other Pokémon aren't able to eat them,

but they happen to be Komala's
favorite food!

Exactly. It spends its entire life asleep,
so of course it eats in its sleep as well.

I've wondered for as long as
I can remember.

-How can it stay asleep all the time?

But after I sleep,
I do eventually wake up.

-It’s all because of those leaves.

Eating them makes Komala sleep constantly.

Sleeping all the time is strange,
but those leaves are responsible for it.

But still, it's hard to believe
it sleeps all the time.

Ash, remember?
Back during the pancake race?

It was asleep! I remember!

-All right, then I'm going to wake it up!

but what's actually happening is
it's changing

that it didn’t care for at the same time.

By the way, that piece of log
Komala’s holding is something it receives

at the beginning of its life.
It apparently never lets go.

That’s true. Though there are
unusual circumstances that can happen.

And that's what led to my chance
meeting with Komala.

It all happened one fine day,
while I was taking a leisurely walk.

the log it usually holds.

So, unable to sleep comfortably,
it rolls around in its sleep.

I'll give you a proper log later,

so make do with this for now.

Komala's sleeping now!

but when I looked at that sleeping face,
it sort of put me at ease.

So I decided to just let it be as it was.

Back then, part of my daily routine was

And since it just kept holding the log
and didn't want to let go,

I simply let Komala keep it.

It wasn’t long before Komala learned
to ring the Pokémon School bell

at the correct time of day, every day!

Awesome! Principal Oak,
is Komala able to battle?

It sure can and Komala can be quite
the Cra-brawler!

Okay, I want to battle it!

It seems like forever since the last time
we strolled along trolling for Pokémon.

Oh, you’re so right! We've been so
obsessed with the Protokoffing calamity,

we forgot it's important to get back
to basics.

The home office always says
our mission is to find rare Pokémon,

send them to headquarters
and into the arms of the Boss!
