[ Sister ]: when brother

Finally decides to compete,

Too bad it's sister

He has to defeat.

Nice hit!

I've got it, I've got it.

Whoo, all right!
Way to go, woo-hoo!

[ Lizzie ]:
nice catch, sister!

[ Sighing ]

Ohh.

Nice try, freddy.

Good wood, fred.
Good wood.

Yep, except for sister's
good glove.

[ Cub ]:
hit a homer, brother!
Come on, brother!

Way to go!
Woo-hoo!

Nice job, brother,
that was a great hit!

Not another one.

Yay, woo-hoo!

Hello, farmer ben.
How's the game going?

Heh, brother's
been hitting them

All day long.

Did you see
that one, papa?

Sure did, son.

Nice hit.

What's the total so far?

Two triples
and three home runs.

[ Papa ]:
good stuff.

Maybe you should try out for
the bear country cardinals.

The beartown cub league?

[ Chuckling ]

It sure would be a step up
from playing in my field.

But I thought
they already had

Their try-outs
two weeks ago.

Well, I was talking to
billy's folks,

And when they saw his
last report card,

They decided billy needed to
spend less time on baseball

And more time on his schoolwork.

So, they need another player?

Uh-huh -- we could drive over
to the cardinal clubhouse

Right after the game.

Ok!

The game's over right now.

But we still have
two more innings.

Not without a baseball.

Dora the goat thought
it looked...tasty.

[ Bleating ]

[ Laughing ]

Wow,

Look at this nifty infield!

And real bases.

It's a far cry from
farmer ben's field.

Sure beats chickens, goats
and a pig trough bench.

[ Laughing ]

[ Brother ]:
whoa, look at those uniforms!

Here's the sign-up sheet, son.

Bear country cardinals,
here I come.

My turn.

Uh, sis? The cub league
is for boys only.

I don't think so.

Sister's right -- according to

player eligibility,

There's nothing that
says girls can't

the cardinals' team.

Well, what do you know.

See?

Ok, sis,

But you'll be up against cubs
who can slug that ball

Right over the fence.

That may be so, but baseball
is also a game of throwing,

that's where sister shines.

I have to get

My pitching arm in shape.

another no-hitter.

And the crowd is going wild!

Oh, sure. Step right up, sis.

[ Grunting ]

Here, let me show you.

Try holding the ball like this:

Two fingers on the top seam,
thumb underneath.

Got it?

I think so.

Ok, fire away.

[ Straining ]

How's that?

Mmm... Good.

Bear country cardinals,
here I come.

Gee, I can't believe sister
is trying out

Uh-huh.

If I was coach, I'd put her
on shortstop.

Wouldn't you?

I guess.

Ow! Wicked throw, sister.

your baby sister.

I am not chickening out.

Prove it.

Come on, brother.

You have to try out.
You have to!

What if I don't make it?

You'll never know
if you don't try.

Besides, I can't practise alone.

You can practise with
queenie or lizzie.

I'd rather play with you.
You know more.

Really?

For sure. I learn a lot
just by watching you.

How else do you think
I got so good?

Like when you showed me
how to grip the ball,

It improved my fastball %.

Hmm...

Well, I guess I could
still try out.

I mean, just for the fun of it.

That's the stuff!

Ok, then, let's get practising.

Yay!

And may the best cub win.

Fair enough.

That would be too

I wonder if this was
such a good idea.

What do you mean, mama?

You know, letting
brother and sister

Compete against each other.

Oh, they can
handle it.

Did you see the way they
practised together?

That's true.

They didn't let a little
competition prevent them

From helping each other.

[ Sister ]:
mama, papa, guess what?

I made the team!

Ohh, that's wonderful!
Hey, that's great.

Congratulations, sister.

Oh, dear.
Aww.

[ Sighing ]

Now, don't be too hard
on yourself, son.

What for? I made the team, too!

Both of you?

How is that possible?

The coach was so impressed
by sister's throwing

And my batting,
he decided he couldn't

Pass up two good players.

So he made a second
spot on the team.

Well, mama,

It sure feels good to have
raised two star athletes.

It sure does, papa.

the lost temple.

They said it couldn't be done.
You'll be famous!

[ Lizzie ]:
sister!

Look what I have.

Hi, lizzie.
What is it?

Horseback bearbie.

Wow, another new one!

Do you want to come over to
my house and play with her?

Sure. I'll just ask mama.

Mama, can I go play
bearbies at lizzie's?

Did lizzie invite you?

Yes. She's waiting
for me outside.

All right. Have fun.

I will for sure.
She has a new doll.

Another new one?

That's what I said.
Talk about lucky.

She has tons of bearbie dolls...

And I only have one.

Well, see you later, mama.

Goodbye.

I know what I'm going to have to
listen to when sister gets home:

"Gee, mama, lizzie has
so many bearbie dolls."

"She even has cruise ship
bearbie with outfits."

"Why can't I have more
bearbies than just one?"

"And that's just lizzie."

Hmm, talking to yourself.

Ha-ha, not a good sign.

Oh, you're right.

I'm being silly.

But sister is playing
bearbies with lizzie again,

And I know what's going to
happen when she gets home.

Oh, what's that?

It's the same every time --
she complains she doesn't have

All the things her friends have;
with lizzie, it's bearbies.

With anna, it's a phone
in her bedroom.

And queenie has a telephone
and a tv in her room.

Hey, I don't even have
a tv in my room... Hmm.

But sister has a bearbie,
and a whole lot of things

Her friends don't have.

I know, but
she just thinks

About what
she doesn't have.

And I suppose it won't be
much different with brother

When he gets home
from cousin fred's.

[ Straining ]

We'll hear all about
the video games freddy has.

Right, but he won't talk
about the soccer ball

Or action figures he does have.

Never mind the pile of comic
books up in his room.

Nope, he won't mention
those at all.

[ Sighing ]

Oh, you missed a spot.

Hey! How did I end up
with this job?

[ Lizzie ]:
let the bearbie

Fashion show begin.

Here we have beautiful
cruise ship bearbie.

Isn't she lovely in
an exquisite ballroom gown

And matching gloves?

Thank you, bearbie.

Yes, yes. Thank you.

And who do we have here?

Who else could it be
but medical bearbie?

Her stunning full-length
lab coat and stethoscope are

What all of us doctors will
be wearing this spring.

[ Laughing ]

Ha! Told you.

Not for long.

[ Brother ]:
ugh, not again!

You were a lot better
than last time.

You'll always be better than me.

I can't practice at home,
because I don't have that game.

I have a feeling this is
going to be your lucky game.

I just got it
yesterday.
What is it?

Dino battle.

All right!

Let's give deep-sea bearbie
a big hand.

And that brings us to
the end of our fashion show.

[ Lizzie ]:
no, it doesn't.

I have lots more bearbie dolls.

You have more?

Watch out, freddy. My giant
teeth are like a steel trap.

Uh-uh-uh. Bad move, brother.

You forgot about
my spiked tail.

Awww.

That one was really close.

Unghh...that's the
last time I choose

The tyrannosaurus wrecker.

[ Yawning ]

Yep, the triterrortops
has one mean tail.

[ Thunder rumbling distantly ]

Wow, look at those clouds.

Whoa! Uh, I think
I should go home.

See you, freddy.

But we haven't played
asteroid att*ck.

[ Lizzie ]:
here, sister,

You can model
my new one.

Ok. Thanks, lizzie.

And here is the lovely
horseback bearbie...

Or, should we say,
bowlegged bearbie. Whoa...

[ Laughing ]

You've been sitting in the
saddle too long, bearbie.

Hee-hee-hee...
[ Thunder rumbling ]

Ooh, thunder.

[ Gasping ]

Look at those clouds.
I'd better get going.

Are you sure?
We're having so much fun.

No, it's going to rain.
Come on, bearbie.

She hates to get wet.

Bye!

[ Lizzie ]:
bye.

Hey, where were you?

Playing bearbies at lizzie's.

We had a fashion show,
just like a real one.

She has almost every bearbie
you can buy.

I was at freddy's exercising
my lightning-fast reflexes.

Zip, zap, kapowee!

[ Laughing ]

And did cousin fred b*at
the pants off you again?

Uh-huh. As usual.

It's time to convince mama and
papa to buy me some new games.

I think I need
some more bearbies.

I don't need as many as lizzie.

Just seven or eight
would be fine.

[ Thunder rumbling,
gasping ]

[ Brother ]:
uh-oh.

Run for it!

It's starting to rain.

In fact, it looks like
a big storm's coming.

I think you're right. Here
come brother and sister now.

I'm afraid we're in for
a storm of complaints.

Well... Maybe this time
will be different.

[ Panting ]

Oh, I'm glad you're back.

We almost b*at the rain.
But not quite.

Let's get you both dried off.

I almost didn't notice
the dark clouds,

We were having so much fun.

That's nice.

You should see all the bearbies
lizzie has. She's so lucky.

Whatever she wants, she gets.

She has horseback bearbie

And cruise ship bearbie
and medical bearbie.

And you should see all the video
games cousin freddy has.

He's even got two new
double-action joysticks.

I don't have any
of that stuff.

Zip, zam, zowee!

You should see,
they're amazing.
And lizzie has

All the best clothes.
Cubs... Cubs!

Listen to yourselves.

All you can do is complain
about what you don't have.

What about being
thankful for

All the things
you do have?

Huh?

It's called
"counting your blessings."

Blessings?

Like what?

[ Thunder booming, screaming ]

Like this strong, cozy house

That protects us against the
weather -- that's one blessing.

I'm glad I'm not outside.

Me too.

This storm looks like a doozy.

We'd better batten
down the hatches.

I'll run upstairs and
close all the windows.

You cubs check the living room.

[ Straining ]

[ Thunder crashing ]

I'm glad we're not
here all alone.

Me too.

[ Squealing ]

We have each other.
That's another blessing.

[ Screaming ]

[ Gasping ]

[ Sister ]:
uh-oh.

[ Mama ]:
and you have a papa
who knows how

To make a fire
in the fireplace.

[ Papa ]:
good idea.

[ Logs crackling ]

Thanks, papa.

No trouble at all.

And here's another blessing.

[ Sister ]:
what?

You have a mama who makes
a great cup of cocoa.

Yes, another good idea.

[ Sniffing ]

Mmm, it smells good, mama.

You have plenty to eat and
drink. That's another blessing.

And we have friends
to play with.

That's a very
good blessing.

[ Gasping ]

That seemed really close.
[ Thunder rumbling ]

Nothing to worry about.
It was more than a mile away.

How can you tell?

Ooohhh, I have a way
of knowing these things.

Call it bear intuition,
if you like.

Huh?

All right -- you just have
to count the seconds between

Seeing the lightning
and hearing the thunder.

The sound of the thunder
travels much slower

Than the light
from the lightning.

It's one mile away
for every five seconds

You count between the two.

One, two,

Three, four, five.

[ Thunder rumbling ]

Five. It's one mile away.

That's right.

One, two, three, four, five.

[ Thunder rumbling ]

[ Mama ]:
good night, cubs.

Good night, mama.

Six, seven--

Good night, mama-- eight.

The storm is over now, sister.

There won't be any more
thunder or lightning.

I'm not counting the thunder.

I'm counting my blessings.

You are?

I have eight already,
and I'm not finished yet.

You do have lots of things
to be thankful for.

A big, safe house,

Food to eat,

Friends to play with,

A family who loves me...

[ Yawning ]

A bearbie doll...

And a good-night hug?

Yes, please.

Oh! The power's back on.

I think I liked it better off.

Ha-ha, me too.

[ Mama ]:
oh, dear.

Another spring has come loose.
I think I'd like a new sofa.

A lazy bear recliner
would be nice, too.

Oh, yes. Two of those.

[ Laughing ]

I think maybe we should
count our blessings, too.
