is about to appear ♪

♪ He's whizzing over
to whisk you away ♪

♪ On a fabulous journey
today ♪

- He's coming!
- ♪ Now he's arrived

♪ In the Thinga-ma-jigger,
the thing that he drives ♪

♪ He's a cat
and he's oodles of fun ♪

♪ With his hairy helpers,
Thing Two and Thing One ♪

- Whoo-hoo!



- Whoa!



[laughter]



- Whoa!
- Wahoo!

- ♪ It's the Cat in the Hat

♪ All of our adventures
start like that ♪

♪ Wherever you're going,
wherever you're at ♪

♪ The Cat in the Hat
knows a lot about... ♪

- ♪ He knows a lot about,
he knows a lot about ♪

all: ♪ He knows a lot
about that ♪

[laughter]

[playful music]



- Okay, let's see
how this one works.

- Maybe this one will stand up.

- Just one way to find out,
Fish.

I've got to test it.

[plops]

- Oh, dear.
- [sighs]

All I want to do is make
a vase that stands up

and looks pretty
with a flower in it

so I could give it to my mom,
but it's harder than I thought.

- Well, at least we know
which ones don't work,

so maybe you'll get it
right next time.

- You better.
You're running out of clay.

- That's the good thing
about drawings.

Crayons last a long time.
- [giggles]

Nice robot.

- I think I'll give this
to my mom.

- Don't you just love presents?
[thump]

Huh?
Where'd that come from?

- Who is it for?
- Maybe it's for me.

- Look, there's a label.

For Nick and Sally.

- Who is it from?
What could it be?

- Me, me, me.

[laughter]

- It's the Cat in the Hat
in a box.

- We thought
you were a present.

- Aren't presents wonderful?

Like this fridge-worthydrawing.

Or one of these lovely, uh...

- Vases. Or at least
they're supposed to be vases.

If I can ever get one
to stand up.

[plops]

- Hmm, luckily, I know a lot
about making things work.

And I know the perfect place
to work things out.

Blueprintia.

- [gasps] Even my vase?
- Without a doubt.

Your mother will not mind
at all if you do.



- Hey, Mom, can I go to
Blueprintia with Nick

and the Cat in the Hat?

I can't say why,
it's a surprise.

- I love surprises.

Sure, honey.
Have fun.

- We can go,
we can go.

- I know, I know.
To the Thinga-ma-jigger!



Buckle up.

[horn honks]

[playful music]

[whirs, clicks]

Flip the Jigger-ma-whizzer!

[boing]

[exciting music]



Isn't this fun?

both: Whoo-hoo!

- ♪ Here we go, go, go,
go on an adventure ♪

♪ The Thinga-ma-jigger
is up and away ♪

both: ♪ Go, go, go,
go on an adventure ♪

♪ We're flying
with the Cat in the Hat today ♪

[whimsical music]



- Wow, we've never been
to a place like this before.

- If you're working things out,
then Blueprintia is for you.

It's the best place to try all
the things you might do.

Blueprintia is where ideas
come to life.

This is the place where
you can draw things out

before you actually make them.

both: Wow.

- Which is great, because most
ideas don't work right

on the first try.

[stool whistles]

Ooh, oh.
Uh-oh.

This stool's a little tippy.

We can fix that in a jiffy.

Look, these legs are
three stripes long,

but this one...

- Is only two stripes long,
Cat.

- No problem in Blueprintia.[laughs]

Mm-hmm.

♪ Ya-da-da-da,
Da-da-da-yoo ♪

♪ [humming]

Aw, now that all the legs
are the same length,

this is much better.

- Whoa, that's so cool.

- You fixed that stool

just by changing the drawing.

I'm going to draw vases
and vases and vases

and see which one works best.

May I please have that pencil,
Cat?

- Of course.
Now, where did it go?

- Hey, Sally, look,
remember my robot drawing?

Now I get to
try it out for real.

[click]

[engine starts]

Hey, [giggles],
it works.

- [beeps]

[engine revs]

- It's good you added bumpers
in that robot.

He seems a little clumsy.
[giggles]

- I say a lot clumsy.
- [beeps]

- Cat!



- Sorry, Fish, I didn't mean
for it to bump things over.

- Maybe you should turn
that robot off.

- [engine revving]

- Hey.
Whoa.

Oh, no.

Uh-oh, my robot's
out of control.

- That robot's bumping
everything over.

We have to
shut it down.

- I can do it if
I get close enough,

but I need something
to hide behind.

- Problem is you need something
that's bump proof.

- [gasps] How about
a big, tall, tower?

- That should work.
- Let's put it to the test.

[playful music]

- [gasps]
This is a good place.



- This is great to hide
behind, Sally.

When the robot tries
to knock the tower over,

I'll turn it off.

- Now all we need to do is make
sure the robot sees it.

- When you need some attention
directed at you,

who better to call than
Thing One and Thing Two?

[whistles]

both: Whoo-hoo!

Ta-da!

Ooh.
- Hmm.

both:
[chattering inquisitively]

- Allow me.

♪ [whistling]

We need that robot
over there...

- [beeps]
[watering can clanks]

- ...To notice there's
a tower over here

that needs to be bumped into.

both: Mm-hmm.
[chattering happily]



Yoo-hoo.
both: [giggles]

Hi, Things.

- You know what to do.

both: [chattering excitedly]

- [engine revs, beeps]

- Here it comes.
Get ready to jump up

and flip that switch.

- [beeping]

both: [chattering excitedly]

[chattering worriedly]

- That didn't work.

We'll have to try another idea.

- That's what Blueprintia
is all about.

- Maybe, if we made
the tower taller

it would be harder
to knock over.

- Okay, do it.



- Time to test your new idea.

both: [chattering excitedly]

- [groans]
Uh-huh, whoo-hoo.

[chatters worriedly]

- Well, making it taller
sure didn't help.

The Things knocked it
right over.

- Hmm, maybe a tower's
the wrong way to go.

- You made that robot a really
good bumper, Nick.

Look around.
It bumped everything over.

- Not everything, Cat.

This hat stand isn't nearly
as tall as our tower.

Why is it still standing?
- Look.

[gasps] This big plant
is still standing too.

- And this statue is
still standing as well.

Huh.

Why are these three
still standing

and everything else

fell down?

[gasps] I know.

They're all wider
at the bottom.

- Hmm, you're right.

- Sally, you may have gotten
to the bottom of it.

This hat stand is much wider
at the bottom

than it is at the top.

- Maybe if the tower's wider
at the bottom,

it might not fall.

- Let's try it and see.

both: [chattering excitedly]



[marker squeaking]

Oh.



- Well, that looks like
quite an improvement.

Things, do your thing.

both: [chattering excitedly]

[upbeat suspenseful music]



- Nick, hide.



both: [chattering excitedly]

- [engine revving]

[beeping]



- Now's your chance, Nick.
Flip that switch.

- [beeping]

[robot shuts down]

- Way to go, Nick.

- It was your great tower
design that did it.

- What things you can do
when you try different ways.

Now, perhaps you can try
redesigning your vase.

- If I want a vase that
doesn't fall over,

it needs to be wider
at the bottom

than it is at the top.

[playful music]

Ta-da.

both: Ooh.

- Let's try it out.

♪ [humming]

- That looks beautiful, Cat.

- ♪ [humming]
Ready?

both: Ready.
- Oops.

[clinks]

- It didn't fall over.

- Ah.

[drum roll]

[victorious music]
- It works!

I can't wait to get back
and make a vase for real.

Can I take the design with me?

- Yes, in a way.

- What do you mean "in a way"?

- Well, you may not be able to
take the vase in your hands,

but you can take
the idea in here.

- You mean the idea of drawing
my vase first

before I try to make it?

I couldn't have
said it better myself.

- Hmm, look at that.

Did Nick's robot
ever leave a big mess.

- Hmm.
A-ha!

May I borrow the pencil,please?

- I know that look.

Nick's got an idea, Cat.

- Almost finished.

There.

These picker-uppers
should help fix it.

[drum roll]

- [engine revving, beeping]

[upbeat music]



- [giggles]
It works, Nick.

Great idea.

- Let's go home so you can make
a vase that doesn't fall over.



- Here's my design.
What do you think?

- Whoo-hoo,
looking good, Sally.

- Your mother will love it.

- Drawing it first
really helped.

[playful music]

- [sniffing]
Ah.

Ready to see if it works?
- You know it well.

- Not until we test it.



[gasps]
It's perfect.

all: Yay.

- Thanks to all
that design time.

This is going to be
the tallest building ever.

- Oh, no.
I guess not.

[playful music]

- ♪ For every try
that doesn't work ♪

♪ There's another
one that might ♪

♪ You got to make
a small mistake or two ♪

♪ Before you get it right

♪ If you don't give up

♪ If you keep on asking why

♪ You might just get it
on the very next try ♪

Ask, Why did it fail?

And how, and when?

Make a new plan
and try it again.

- Maybe we should just use
blocks for our building

and no other toys.

- ♪ For every try
that doesn't work ♪

♪ There's another one
that might ♪

♪ You got to make a small
mistake or two ♪

♪ Before you get it right

♪ If you don't give up

♪ If you keep on asking why

♪ You might just get it
on the very next try ♪

Ask, Why did it fail?

And how, and when?

- Nick, I found some great
stuff for our fish pond game.

- Me too. Look,
Dad gave me these metal clips

and Mom gave
me some old curtain rings.

- And I brought
some of my bracelets.

- Great, and everything
has a hole in the middle

for a hook to catch.

[bracelet slaps]

- Our fish pond is going
to be the best game

at the whole block party.

- Fish ponds
are the best ponds.

- Let's try it out.

- [giggles]



Step right up
and fish for prizes.

Hook a ring and win a lollipop.



Try that one.
There.

You went right over it.

- I'm trying, but I can't get
the hook to pick them up.

- But if our hook doesn't work,

how can anybody win a lollipop?

- Win?
A lollipop?

Can I play?

I know a lot about
catching things.

- [giggles]
Sure, Cat, give it a try.

- Good luh-huck.



[jingles]

- Hmm. It's more tricky
than I thought.

Not a single ring got caught.

- Nobody's going to want
to play our game

if they can't catch anything.

- Hmm, I do know
a fantastic game

where you can catch things,
but here's the hook.

There isn't one.
[giggles]

- What do you mean?
- Ah.

You'll have to come
to Arcade Island to find out.

Your mother won't mind
at all if you do.



- Mom, can Nick and I fly to
Arcade Island

with the Cat in the Hat to find
out how to make our game work?

- Sure, you pop over
to Arcade Island

while I finish popping the
popcorn for the block party.

- We can go,
we can go.

- I know,
I know.

To the Thinga-ma-jigger!

Buckle up.

[horn honks]

[playful music]

[whirs, clicks]

Flip the Jigger-ma-whizzer!

[boing]

[exciting music]



Isn't this fun?

both: Whoo-hoo!

with the Cat in the Hat today ♪

[whimsical music]



- Here we are at
a tropical island arcade

where we'll play the best game
that has ever been played.

- Whoa, look at all the games.

- Ah, but let me show you
my favorite one.

The Catch-A-Prize
surprise game.

- This is amazing.

So you try to catch things
at the bottom,

like in our game.

- Uh, how do you play?

- Just watch and you'll see
with your very own eyes.

You can use this prize catcher
to catch your own prize.

- Wow, you caught a harmonica.
- That's so cool.



- Surprise!

[playing harmonica]



Isn't it fun?
Your turn, Nick.

[playful music]

[machine whirring]



- Hey, I caught a prize too.

But how?
There's no hook.

- Shall we go in
for a closer look?

- But we can't.
- We're too big.

- We'll fit if we use
the Shrinkamadoodle first.

- But I haven't played yet.

And I think I'd be
really good at this.

- Then play away, Fish.

We'll cheer you on
from the inside.

Hop in, Kids.

[whirs, clicks]

Hit the Shrinkamadoodle.

- Uh, where's the button?
- Oh, sorry.

I guess it's under my
magneto-shopping-list-holder.

- Ready to shrink, Sally?
- Yeah.

- [grunts]
[boings]

[upbeat music]
both: [cheering]

- All right!
- Whoo-hoo!

- Yay.

It looks huge.

But I still don't see how it
pulls up the prizes.

- Well, it is quite a puzzle.
That's certainly true.

What could
pull things together?

Is it some kind of glue?

- Hmm.[gasps]

Wait, I know something that
pulls things together.

It's holding up your
shopping list.

- Hmm.
You mean a magnet?

- Yeah, we have some
at home on the fridge.

I bet that's what
the prize catcher is,

a big magnet.

- Of course.

Let's see it
catch a prize like...

[gasps]
that blue dog.

It's so cute.

- Challenge accepted, Sally.



- Good aim, Fish.

- Aw.

- Why didn't the magnet
pull it up?

- Yeah, it landed right on it.

- Maybe the dog's
caught on something.

- The poor pooch.
Let's help him out.

Going down.



- Let's pull
the other prizes away

to make sure the dog
isn't stuck.

- [groaning]
Ah.

both: [groaning]



all: [groaning]

- There.
Now it's not stuck.

Try again, Fish.

[machine whirring]
[clanks]

Why won't it catch the dog?
It pulls everything else up.

- Dogs, they can be
so stubborn.

- Fish, look at all the prizes
the magnet did pick up.

Do you see anything different
about the dog?

- Well, it can't be color.

The dog is blue,
just like the car.

- Right.

And the magnet lifted that.

Hmm.

Could the dog be too heavy?

- Maybe, but how do
we know for sure?

- Hey, it took all three of us
to move that train engine,

and I lifted the dog
all by myself.

- That's right.

Uh, I'm sorry,
what's your point, Sally?

- Well, the train is
heavier than the dog,

so if the magnet can
pick up the train...

- We'll know the dog
isn't too heavy.

- [chuckles]
Are you two ever clever?

- All right, I'll see
how well this magnet

picks up that train.

- Ah, no.
- Not the Thinga-ma-jigger.

- That was so not
what I meant to do.

- Without the Thinga-ma-jigger,

how are we going to
get out of here?

- Ah, when you ought to escape
from a room with a view,

then the pilots to call are
Thing One and Thing Two.

[whistles]

- Whoa!
- Whoo-hoo!

[upbeat music]

both: [chattering excitedly]
Ta-da!

- Could you two please fly
the little Thinga-ma-jigger

back to here and rescue us?

both: Mm-hmm.
- Thanks ever so much.

[drum roll]
both: Doot-do-doot-do--huh?

Ooh.

[car doors open and close]
[chattering excitedly]

Vroom, vroom.
- Hey, stop that.

You need to fly in there
and rescue our friends.

both: [chattering happily]
- Ah!

Ah.
Now look what you've done.

both: Huh?
Oopsie.

- [gasps]

I hope it still works.

Oh, great, now the game's
running all by itself.

- Whoa!
- [screams]

[machine whirring]

- I can't stop it.
[yelps]

both: Uh-oh.



[grunting]

- The Things can't fly in
with all the prizes piling up.

- Maybe there's another way.

If we can figure out what
the magnet will pull up,

we can grab on
and be lifted out.

- Now that's what
I call a great plan.

- Okay, so far all the things
the magnet has pulled up

are shiny.

- And they all go plink.

[whirring]
[jingling]

[jingling, thump]

[gasps]
Did you see that?

- It didn't stick
to the wooden part.

It pulled over
to the metal part.

- Nick, all the prizes
have metal parts.

The train, the coin bank.

- So maybe magnets only stick
to some kinds of metal.

- Oh, you're so clever.
[giggles]

And just in the Nick,
and Sally, of time.

We're almost out of prizes
- [gasps] The plane.

- Oh, no.

[suspenseful music]

all: [grunt, groan]

- [gasps]
All that's left is the dog,

and there's nothing metal
on him.

- But maybe there used to be.
Look.

- Oh, yeah,
his collar slipped off

and it has a metal
dog tag on it.

That's why the magnet
didn't pull him up.

[drum roll]

[upbeat music]

Don't worry.
I've got this.

[grunts, groans]
There.

[jingles, clinks]

It worked.
- Grab on, kids.

We're going up.
Yahoo!



- Whoo-hoo!
- Whoo.

- Yeah.

all: Yeah.
[cheering]

- These fridge magnets
are perfect.

They should work just like
the one on Arcade Island.

- And now that we know magnets
stick to some metals,

we'll only use metal rings
in our game.

- Time to go prize fishing.

- Wait, I want
a front row seat.

Ha-ha!



- Nick, Sally, are you ready?

- Why don't you try it first,
Cat?

- Me?
[giggles]

Well, I thought
you'd never ask.

[playful music]



- We have a winner.

- [guffaws]

Oh, the game works.
It's delightful.

I knew you'd come through.

And the best prize of all
is to play it with you.

But I still get a lollipop,
right?

- [giggles]
Of course, Cat.
