- What?

- ♪ Come over here

♪ The Cat in the Hat
is about to appear ♪

♪ He's whizzing over
to whisk you away ♪

♪ On a fabulous journey
today ♪

- He's coming!
- ♪ Now he's arrived

♪ In the Thinga-ma-jigger,
the thing that he drives ♪

♪ He's a cat
and he's oodles of fun ♪

♪ With his hairy helpers,
Thing Two and Thing One ♪

- Whoo-hoo!



- Whoa!



[laughter]



- Whoa!
- Wahoo!

- ♪ It's the Cat in the Hat

♪ All of our adventures
start like that ♪

♪ Wherever you're going,
wherever you're at ♪

♪ The Cat in the Hat
knows a lot about... ♪

- ♪ He knows a lot about,
he knows a lot about ♪

all: ♪ He knows a lot
about that ♪

[laughter]

[upbeat music]



- Three, two, one.

Ready or not,
here I come!

[laughs]

You can't hide from me
this time, Nick!

I'll seek and I'll seek
until I find you!



Are you over here?



Where can he be?

[laughs]

Aha!

[sad music]

[groans]
Fish, have you seen Nick?

- I could tell you,
but that wouldn't be fair.

- I know.
[sighs]

The trouble is, Nick's
way too good at hiding.

I'll never find him.

- Give up?
- Huh?

- [laughing]
- Hmm.

Here I am!

- [laughing]
I didn't see you there.

- Ooh, now you can hide, Sally!

- Uh-uh-uh.

She's still "it"
until she finds me!

- - - - - - - !

- [gasps]
That sounds like the Cat!

- But where is he?
- , , !

Ready or not, here I come!

[laughs]
Found you!

[both laughing]

Don't you just love
playing "Hide and Seek"?

- It's not as much fun
when the person you're seeking

is impossible to find!

No matter how hard
I look for Nick,

I never find him.

- You'll be "it" forever!

- Hmm. Maybe there are other
ways to find things.

- Other ways than looking?
Like what?

- Well, I don't know that,

but I do know
a sensational place

where you can find out
all about successful seeking!

It's called Tagaloo.

- If I find out
how to be a better seeker,

I won't be "it" all the time!

Let's go!

- Your mother will not mind
at all if you do.

[bright music]

- Mom!

Can we go to Tagaloo
with the Cat in the Hat

to find out how to be a better
seeker in "Hide and Seek"?

- Well, you know
what they say!

"Seek, and you shall find."[laughs]

- We can go, we can go!
- I know, I know!

To the Thinga-ma-jigger!

[upbeat music]

Buckle up!

[horn honks]

[playful music]

[whirs, clicks]

Flip the Jigger-ma-whizzer!

[boing]

[exciting music]



Isn't this fun?

both: Whoo-hoo!

- ♪ Here we go, go, go,
go on an adventure ♪

♪ The Thinga-ma-jigger
is up and away ♪

both: ♪ Go, go, go,
go on an adventure ♪

♪ We're flying
with the Cat in the Hat today ♪



- Tagaloo's a sensational
place we can go

where you'll find the best
hide-and-seeker I know.

[laughter]

- So where's this
special someone

who's going to teach Sally
all about seeking?

- Before you answer
that question, Cat,

what is that?

[boings]

- That just happens to be
the best hider and seeker

you'll ever find.

It's called a Tagaloop.

- [chomping]

[laughs]

[slurping]

- It also likes
"Baa-blegum"

more than anyone
I've ever known.

- [sniffs, laughs]

"Baa-blegum"
smells like strawberry!

- Yep, that's its
favorite flavor.

- I don't care
what flavor the gum is.

I need to talk to that
Tagaloop about seeking!

Hey, Tagaloop!

- Ah!
- [gasps] Come back!

- Baa!
Baa, baa, baa-baa-baa!

- Oh, my.

I forgot how jumpy
they can be.

- But I need to know
how to be a great seeker,

and that means I've got to find
that Tagaloop!

- Uh, which way did it go?

- I see it! There!

- [laughing]

- Good eyes, Nick.

- [laughing]



all: Huh?

- [laughing]

- Come back here, Tagaloop!

Come here!

Huh?
- Aw, we lost it.

- If we could just get close,
we could explain

that it doesn't need
to be afraid of us.

[rustling]

[gum pops]

- [gasps]
Did you hear that?

It sounded like
a "Baa-blegum" pop.

Maybe it came from that cave!

Let's go!

[playful music]

- I don't see anything.

- Well, this is where
the pop sound came from.

- Aha.

So, because you heard the pop,

you think you might find
the Tagaloop in there.

- Yes! Listen!

[gum pops]

- Baa!
- There! Did you hear that?

Follow that sound!

[Tagaloop giggling]

[boings]

[all panting]

- Did you see
where it went?

- Uh-uh.
[sighs]

I don't hear anything, either.

- I hear nothing.

- Ooh, maybe it's hiding
in one of those bushes.

- That rascally rascal.

Which bush could it be?

- Everyone, split up!

[laughter]



Hey, Nick,
I found something

that might be a clue.

- What is it?

- It feels soft
and wooly.

- And it's the same color
as the Tagaloop!

Maybe it came by here,

and this bit of wool
got stuck on the branch!

- So it could be
from the Tagaloop.

- And the Tagaloop
could've come this way!

[Tagaloop laughs, gum pops]

- [laughs, slurps]

- Look, there it goes!

- We're never going to catch up
with that Tagaloop.

It keeps running away!

- When you're seeking
a Tagaloop on a wild run,

you just might get some help
from Thing Two and Thing One!

[whistles]

[both chattering, laughing]



[both cheer]
- Hello, Things.

We'd like you to round up that
wild Tagaloop, if you please.

[upbeat music]

- [excited chatter]

Okay?
- Uh-huh!



[laughter]



- [laughs]

both: Oh!

[both panting]

[sad chatter]

- Well, thanks
for trying, Things.

But maybe you tired it out

and we can catch up
to it now.

- Look!

It's just around that rock!

- [chuckling]

- Let's go!

Come back,
you silly Tagaloop!

I need to find out--
[gasps]

[all baaing]

- [gasps]
Oh, no!

- Look at them all.

How many do you think
there are?

How are we gonna find
the right Tagaloop?

- Well, we can't find it
by looking,

because they all look the same.

- And we can't find it
by listening,

because they all
sound the same.

- And they all
feel the same too.

Ah, they're so soft and wooly.

- All right.

Maybe we can't find
our Tagaloop

by feeling or listening
or looking...

[sniffs]

But there's another way
we haven't tried yet.

- There is?
Do tell!

- Smell!
[sniffing]

I bet...
[sniffs]

There's only one Tagaloop...
[sniffs]

That smells like strawberry
"Baa-blegum"!

[sniffs] Huh.
[sniffs]

[gasps]
Strawberry!

Found you!

- [slurps, laughs]

You did find me.
Great game!

- Huh?

You mean you were playing
"Hide and Seek"

the whole time?

- That's what Tagaloops do!

Did I forget
to mention that?

- Oh, hello, Cat!

Hmm. I guess I'm "it" now.

- Because Sally found you!
[laughs]

- You know, I hope I'm as good
a seeker as you are, Sally.

You used your senses
to find me.

- My senses?
What are my senses?

- Our senses help tell us
about what's around,

like seeing a sight
or like hearing a sound.

By the smell or the taste
or the touch, we can tell

what we're close to
or far from.

Now, isn't that swell?

- So, when I use my eyes
to see you

or my ears
to listen for you...

- Or your nose to smell
my "Baa-blegum."

- I was using my senses!

- That's what I say.

You're "sense"-ational!

[laughs]

- So, wanna play again?
Hmm?

- I'd love to,
Tagaloop,

but I was actually in
the middle of a game back home,

and I think I should
finish that one.

- Oh, okay.

But whenever you want to play,

you know where to find me!

[laughter]

Oh, oh, oh, oh!

And before you go, how about...

some "Baa-blegum"?

- Go ahead.
It tastes delicious.

[upbeat music]

- [chomping]

Strawberry.

- [laughs] My favorite!

[chomping]

[pop]

- Okay, Sally,
you're still "it."

- Oh, I won't
be "it" for long!

- Oh, yeah?[laughs]

- You hide,
and I'll find you.

- Game on!

- , , , ...

- Isn't this exciting?

- , , .

Ready or not, here I come!

Are you over here?

- [chomping, laughs]

[gum pops]

- [gasps, laughs]

[playful music]

Hmm. [sniffs]

[gasps] Found you!

You're "it"!
- [laughs]

- Wow, Sally, you really
found me fast this time.

- That's because I didn't
just look for you.

I listened for you
popping your gum.

Then I just followed my nose.

[sniffs]
Strawberry "Baa-blegum"!

- Sensational!

- Using all your senses
instead of just one

makes a lot of sense.

- I couldn't have
said it better myself.

[all chomping]

[pop]

[funky percussive music]

Is everybody ready
to count your senses?

both: Yeah!

- ♪ You wanna know
about your senses? ♪

♪ Ask the Cat in the Hat

♪ 'Cause I happen to know
quite a lot about that ♪

[laughs]

♪ You've got five main senses,
not two or three ♪

♪ You've got five main senses

♪ Want to count 'em with me?

♪ You see with your eyes,
that's one sense for you ♪

♪ And you hear with your ears,
that's sense number two ♪

♪ You smell with your nose,
that's three, what's four? ♪

♪ You taste with your mouth,
and there's just one more ♪

♪ You feel with your hands,
that's sense number five ♪

♪ They all make you feel
so glad you're alive ♪

♪ See, hear,
smell, taste, touch ♪

You got it?

- How do our senses make us
feel glad we're alive?

- Because there are so many
wonderful things

we can observe and discover
just by using our senses.

- Five of them!
- That's right!

[laughs]

♪ Want to count 'em with me?

both: Yeah!

- ♪ You see with your eyes,

- That friendship bracelet
is looking very nice, Sally.

- Thanks, Fish!

And it's not even done yet.

Wait till I add
this extra-special bead.



- Ooh, sparkly!
- [laughs]

- Let's see--yikes!

- Ah!
- Got you.

- Sorry, Fish.

Are you okay?
- Yeah.

Thanks to Sally!

- I just wanted to see
your special bead.

- [gasps]

I don't have it.

I must've dropped it
when I caught Fish.

- Sorry, Sally.

Don't worry.
We'll find it.

[light music]

- I think it's just getting
buried deeper in the sand.

- You're right.
This isn't working.

- [sighs]
I've got to find a better way.

- Huh?

[playful music]

- [laughs]

Ah!



"Find a better way"?

To do what,
did you say?

- Cat, we're so glad
you're here!

- I need to find a better way
to find my special bead.

- It was my fault
she lost it in the sand.

- Hmm.
Pondering, pondering.

Pondering...ah!

A new way to find
a lost bead in the sand.

I've got it, I've got it!

The Hole-Lot-of Funhouse.

Now, that's where you'll find
a way to find your lost bead.

- All right, let's go!

- Your mother will not mind
at all if you do.



- Mom, can Nick and I go
to the Hole-Lot-of Funhouse

with the Cat in the Hat?

I need to find a way
to find my bead!

- That sounds fun.

Just remember
to find your way back

to our house
in time for supper.

- We can go, we can go!
- I know, I know!

To the Thinga-ma-jigger!



Buckle up!

[horn honks]

[playful music]

[whirs, clicks]

Flip the Jigger-ma-whizzer!

[boing]

[exciting music]



Isn't this fun?

both: Whoo-hoo!

- ♪ Here we go, go, go,
go on an adventure ♪

♪ The Thinga-ma-jigger
is up and away ♪

both: ♪ Go, go, go,
go on an adventure ♪

♪ We're flying
with the Cat in the Hat today ♪

[bright music]



[upbeat music]



- When you're finding a new way
to find your lost bead,

the Hole-Lot-of Funhouse
is just what you need!

- So what do we do?

- We go up to the top floor

and then down
to the bottom floor.

- So we come down
that super curvy slide?

- The trick is not
to go down the slide.

[laughs]

Once you get inside
the Hole-Lot-of Funhouse,

you have to find a way
through it, from top to bottom.

- All right! Let's go!

both: Wow.

- Welcome to the
Stupendous Strainer floor.

- It's just a room
with dots on the floor.

What's so hard
about getting across it?

- [gasps]
Wait!

It can't be that easy.

There might be some reason
we shouldn't just walk across.

- The Hole-Lot-of Funhouse
is tough to get through,

so let's test it out
with Thing One and Thing Two.

[whistles]

[both cheer]

[excited chatter]

both: Hello!

Huh?

Oh!

- [gasps]
They aren't dots.

They're holes!

- Where did they go?

both: Whee!

[laughter]

[exciting music]



[both cheering]

- Dum-dum-dum!
- Ha!

both: Ta-da!

[both laugh]

- If we just walked
across the floor,

we would've fallen through
the holes like the Things did.

- And we would've
gone down that slide.

- And then I wouldn't find
a way to find my bead.

- Look how much
you've figured out already!

- Okay. Let's give this a try.

Be careful!
Step around the holes.

- Wh--whoa!
[laughs]

- [grunts]

- [grunts]

- Thanks.

I thought I was going
to fall through,

but I didn't fit!
- [gasps]

And I just figured out
something else!

- What did you figure out?

- The Things
fell through the holes

because they're smaller
than the holes,

but Nick didn't because
he's bigger than the holes.

- So we should be able
to cross the floor

without falling through.



both: We did it!

- Hmm.

- What are you looking at,
Sally?

- This floor reminds me
of something.

[gasps] I know!

The thing my mom pours
the spaghetti and water into.

- Oh!
You mean a strainer.

The water goes through,
but the spaghetti doesn't.

- Maybe that's why
they call this

the Stupendous Strainer floor.

- On to the next floor!

It's gonna be so easy!

All we have to do
is watch out for holes.

Yay!
- Whoo-hoo!

- Yahoo!

- [gasps] Watch out for holes?

This floor is all holes!

- Welcome to the
Fascinating Filter floor.

- The holes are so big,
we'll fall through, for sure!

- If only there was a way

to make the holes smaller.

- Why, that's an amazing idea.

Let's do that!

Wait.
How are we gonna do that?

[sighs]
Oh!

[clinking, chugging]

- Cat, you just
moved something.

Can you do that again?

- There's only one way
to find out!

[grunting]

[gears clinking]

[whistle toots]



- It's making
the holes smaller!

Nick, stand here
so I can measure.



The holes need
to be smaller than this.

There. That's good.

Now we can get across.

[upbeat music]



both: We did it!

- You did!
[laughs]

- Does this floor remind you
of something too?

- [gasps]
Yes! A tennis racket!

- Whatever it looks like,

we got across without
falling through.

- Yeah! Whoo-hoo!
- [laughing]

- Yippee!

- Now all you have to do
is zip through that exit

and you'll have made it

through the whole
Hole-Lot-of Funhouse.

- Then I'll find a way
to find my bead!

[grunts]

Wahoo!
[laughs]

Yeah.

- Ya-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo!

- Whee!

[laughing]

- My turn!

[grunting]

I seem to be in a bit
of a pickle.

I can't go any farther.

- Can you make the hole bigger
so you can get through?

- [grunts]
This hole won't get bigger!

What else can I try?

- Can you make yourself smaller
so you can get through?

- I'll think small thoughts.

Mice. Ants.
Eensy-weensy spiders.



Nope. It's not working.

Well, if one way doesn't work,
I'll just find another way!

- Another way?

- Yahoo!

Ah-ha-ha-ha-ha!

Whoopee!



[laughing]

Well, you three got through,
so three cheers for you!

- But we were supposed
to help Sally

find a way to find her bead.

- And you did!
I have an idea.

- You do?
Oh, do tell!

- The Things are the smallest
of all of us...

both: Mm-hmm!

- And they fell
right through the holes

in the Stupendous Strainer
floor.

- But I didn't fall through.
- Right!

Then, on the Fascinating
Filter floor,

we would've fallen through.

- Because the holes were big!

So we made them smaller.

- And Cat's the biggest
of all of us,

so he's the only one

who couldn't get through
the last hole.

- Because it was too small.

- [gasps]
Cat!

I think we're like sand,
and you're like my bead!

- I'm like a bead?
I don't get it.

- Come on! You'll see.

[upbeat music]

- So are you gonna play tennis
or strain spaghetti?

- [laughs]
Neither, Cat.

We need something
with holes in it,

just like the Hole-Lot-of
Funhouse.

But the holes have to
be big enough

to let the grains
of sand through

and small enough to stop
my bead from falling through.

- And that's how you're gonna
find it in the sand!

- Right.

Now, this bead is the same size
as the one I lost.

We can use it to test if
it gets caught by the strainer

or the tennis racket.

- My, aren't you clever?

- Let's try the tennis
racket first.

[playful music]



The sand fell through,
but so did the bead.

The holes are too big.

- The strainer
has smaller holes.

Maybe it will work.



- The sand is going through.

- But not the bead!

- That means we can
use the strainer

to find my special bead.

I'll hold it
while you pour the sand.



- Nothing yet.

- Don't give up.

Try another pail!



- [gasps] My bead!
The strainer worked!

both: We did it!

- You certainly did.

- Now I can finish
my friendship bracelet.

There.

Here you go, Cat.

- Oh! For me?

- Well, if you hadn't
helped me,

I wouldn't have found
a way to find my bead.

And isn't helping what
friendship is all about?

- I couldn't have
said it better myself.

Look at that bead sparkle.



[upbeat music]
