Mr. Sparks:
It was a beautiful day

in downtown City Town.

The sun was shining,
the birds were singing...

and skaters
were catching some air

at the gnarly
new skateboard park!

[rock music]

- The City Town
Skaters Committee

is, like, super proud

to declare Sidekick Park
officially open!

Ha-ha!

- Aw, cool!
- Fantastic!

[ribbits]

- Uh, huh?

[dramatic music]

Whoa.

Dude, what is happening?

Mr. Sparks:
Meanwhile, at Hero Elementary,

another grand opening
is underway.

- Whoa!

You made me a skateboard?

- A rocket-boosted,
self-balancing skateboard.

- Thanks, AJ!
Now I can learn how to skate!

- Just in time
to use the new skate park.

- These rocket boosters
should help me learn fast!

Whoa!

[quirky music]

Oops. Sorry, Fur Blur.

- [squeaks]

- You do have a helmet, yes?

AJ: She does now!

[beeping]

- The Sparkinator!

Sara: Huh?

Why are there toads
at the skate park?

Benny: Oh! The poor toads!

They could get hurt!

- And the poor skaters!

It's not safe for them, either.

- We have to do
something!

- Well, who's the crew

who knows what to do?

[exciting music]

all: Sparks' Crew
to the Rescue!

♪ ♪

- Coming!
Just let me grab my skateboard.

♪ ♪

[crash]

Uh, I'll have to catch up
to you.

- [squeaks]

♪ ♪

By the time
they got to Sidekick Park,

things were "toad"-ally
out of control!

[quirky music]

- Look at all the toads!

- Those smooth walls
are great for skateboarding

but terrible for the toads.

They can't get a grip
to climb out!

- Come on, team!

Let's give 'em a boost.

- Uh...

[upbeat music]

- Aww!

♪ ♪

- Ugh...

♪ ♪

- That's all of 'em.

- Great,
and just to make sure

it doesn't happen again,
bubble up!

[triumphant music]

- A bubble wall!

Great idea, Benny!

- Sparks' Crew to Mr. Sparks.

We got all the toads
out of the skate park.

Mission accomplished!

- Fantástico!
That was fast.

- Eh, rescues are what we do.

[ominous music]

[squeaking]

♪ ♪

- What? Hey!

We just saved you!

- Ugh.

On second thought,
I don't think we're done yet.

Call you later.

- Why did the toads
come back?

- Hmm, I don't know.

Maybe we can find out
using our...

all: Superpowers of Science!

- Okay,
let's investigate!

We can start by observing.

- Yes! We shall look around
to see what we notice.

[mysterious music]

- Hmm.

I notice that all the toads

are on this side
of the skate park.

- You're right!

And I notice something too.
[gasps]

Their cute little
wet footprints!

- Toad tracks!
That's a good clue.

Tracks can show us where
the toads are coming from.

- We should follow them
and find out.

- Let's go!

[exciting music]

♪ ♪

- Look!
They're coming from that pond!

[quirky music]

- It's just like
in my comic book,

"Toad Invasion
from the Green Lagoon."

- Uh...hmm.

I'm gonna need more info.

- Thought projecting!

In the comic book,

But when they are old enough,

they come out and live on land.

Mostly in the woods.

- Oh!
Like the woods

on the other side
of the new skate park?

[upbeat music]

♪ ♪

So we had the problem
all wrong.

It isn't about keeping toads
out of the skate park.

- We have to help them
get across it

so they can get to the woods
on the other side.

- [gasps]
I know what we need.

A toad trampoline.

- Hmm.

- Or maybe a zip line?

Sara: Yeah!

AJ: What about flying drones?

- Cool!
- Wow.

- Uh, guys,
maybe there's a simpler way.

Like a bridge?

Sara: Oh! Yes!

- But what kind of bridge?

- Well, it needs to be long
enough to reach across.

- Long! I'm on it!

This should be long enough.

- A sandwich?

- An extra-long sandwich!

Okay, there we go.

Ta-da!

It's perfect for a toad bridge!

Ahh.

[quirky music]

- Uh, well...

It was long.

- And tasty for those birdies!

- Okay, maybe a sandwich isn't
quite perfect for a bridge.

- We need something
that's not floppy.

Something more sturdy.

all: Hmm.

- [gasps]

What about cardboard?

- Maybe.
Let's try it!

- Consider it done!

♪ ♪

Hi!

I'd like to order
two dozen pizzas, please.

Hold the pizza.

- So...just the boxes?

- [laughs]
Look at all this cardboard!

- Hmm, now we just have to turn
it into some kind of bridge.

- We'll need some glue
to hold it together.

- I'll get some from school.

Be back in a snap!

School!
[whooshes]

- [grunting]

- Hi, Mr. S!

Did you find your skateboard?

- Not yet.
How's the mission going?

- We're building a bridge

so the toads can get across
and go to the woods,

but we need some glue.

- [squeaks]

- No, Fur Blur, no!

- [squeaks]

- Oh, no!

- Uh, closet organization
isn't your superpower, is it?

- Not so much, no.

A few sticky minutes later...

[upbeat music]

♪ ♪

♪ ♪

- This cardboard bridge

should be strong enough
for toads,

but will they use it?

- Oh, let's use
our Superpowers of Science

to test it out.

Toads, come back!

We need a volunteer!

♪ ♪

- Oh, no!

Ahh! No!

Toads--no! Oh!

- The bridge!
Turn off the water!

Ugh!

♪ ♪

- Uh-oh! Whoa!

Off is the other way!

Whoa!

- Oops.

♪ ♪

- Looks like cardboard
falls apart when it gets wet.

- I'll clean it up.

- Well, that was a flop.
Again.

- Hey, you know what
Mr. Sparks would say?

We didn't fail!

We just found another way
that didn't work.

- Right, and we learned

that we need
to build our bridge

out of something that's sturdy

and won't fall apart
if it gets wet.

Any ideas?

all: Hmm.

- Lawn mower.
- A lawn mower bridge?

I don't get it.
- No, look!

There's a lawn mower coming!

Oh, no!
- [gasps]

- Uh-oh.

- It's okay, Benny.
The toads are hopping away.

- Oh, yeah, yeah,
right towards a busy street!

[dramatic music]

- Oh, no!

Good thing I've got
a rocket-powered skateboard!

Ahh! Ahh!

- But you haven't
practiced yet!

- Oh, no!

Ahh!

Whoa-ah-oh!

♪ ♪

[laughing]

Whoa!

Go that way!

♪ ♪

- It's working!

The toads are heading
for the pond!

- [gasps]
But so is Sara!

- Ah! Ahh!

- Sara! You gotta stop!

- How?

Uh! Uhh...

- Bubble up!

- Whoa-oh-ohh!

Whoa!

Ugh!

- You okay?

- I'm fine.

- Wish we could say the same
for your skateboard.

[sad music]

[groans]

Benny: Uh-oh.

The toads
are on the move again.

- Oh, we still need
to build them a bridge.

- Maybe not.
Check out that log.

It's long enough,
and it's also sturdy.

- And wood doesn't fall apart
when it gets wet.

- So maybe we don't
need to build a bridge.

We can just use
this log as a bridge!

- I love it when
we all pull together

to solve a problem!

Come on!

Mr. Sparks:
And so they pulled together

in more ways than one, using
their amazing teamwork to...

watch Sara
put the log into place.

- I hope this works.

What if the toads
don't notice the bridge?

- Better give them
a little hint.

Bubble up!

♪ ♪

- Here they come!

Benny: [laughs]
Yay, toads!

[all cheering]

[exciting music]

[upbeat music]

- It's too bad
the rocket boosters

got ruined in the pond.

Maybe I can fix them.

Sara: Thanks, AJ,

but I think I'll learn
how to skate without them.

I just have to keep trying.

Whoa!

- Just like how
it took us a few tries

to find the right thing
to make our bridge.

- Look! It's Mr. Sparks!

[rock music]

- Just catching some air!

Ahh-ha-ha!

Whoo-hoo!
- Wow!

- Cool.
- Awesome!

- Whoo-hoo!

- Whoa! Oops.

Mr. Sparks:
And so the next time

you're trying to figure out
what to make a bridge out of,

"toad"-ally do like
the Sparks' Crew!

Learn from your mistakes,
never give up,

and always wear a helmet.

- [gulps]

- Excuse me.
- Hey, what's the box for?

Mr. Sparks: Our students
learn to be helpful...

- I'll get it for you.

Here you go!

- Look out! Coming through!

- Huh.
I wonder where he's going.

Mr. Sparks:
And our students learn

to think outside the box.

- Oh, cool!

- Yeah. A new hoop.

- Oh, I meant the box.

♪ ♪

- I wonder what AJ's doing
with all those boxes.

[exciting music]

[laughter]

- Oh, yeah, awesome!

- Everyone,
I have something to show you!

[playful music]

Come on.
It's over here.

♪ ♪

- I wonder what's going on.

- What could it be?

- [clears throat]

As you know,
some of my favorite heroes

have their own super hideaways.

So I made one for us.

Presenting the Sparks' Crew
Hero Hideaway!

all: Wow!

♪ ♪

Mr. Sparks: Aha!

So that's what you've been
working on all week!

- Yes! Come on.
Let me show you around.

- Whoa, it's so awesome!
- Come on, let's go!

- Cool, ha-ha!
I love it!

- This is amazing, AJ!

- Oh, yeah, I can't believe it!

- Wow!

- It's got everything
a hero could need:

a landing pad over there,

room to store gadgets,

a hidden passageway--

- Where?
I don't see a passageway.

- That's because
it's hidden, Benny.

- Oh!

[all laugh]

- And it has a lookout tower,

but maybe it should
be a little taller.

I'll put some more boxes on.

- I'll help you.

[upbeat music]

♪ ♪

[ominous music]

♪ ♪

- Uh-oh.

AJ, wait!

- Huh?

Oh, no!

♪ ♪

- [squeaks]

- Oh, dear.

- No!
No, no, no!

I worked so hard on this!
Ahh!

- AJ!

- Oh, he must
be so disappointed.

- It's okay, AJ.

- It is not okay!
It's terrible!

I wanted it to be the best
hero hideaway ever!

- Deep breaths.

- [breathing deeply]

- I get why you're upset, AJ.

You worked so hard
to build that hideaway.

I'd feel the same way.

- And sometimes when things
don't go the way we planned,

we can learn from it
to make things better.

- Yeah!

Maybe if we can figure out
what went wrong,

then we can help you
build a new hideaway.

- You'd help me do that?

- Of course!

- Who's the crew

So how can you figure out

why the hideaway
didn't stay up?

- Ooh!
Maybe we can use our...

- We can start by investigating
what went wrong.

- Hmm. Thought projecting!

Here's what the hideaway
looked like before.

- Let's observe
and see what we notice.

both: Hmm.

- I notice the tower
seems to be tilting.

Whoa! Ugh.

Lucita: You're right! Look!

When I put my box on top,
the tower started to wobble.

- [squeaks]

- And when I put
another box on top of that,

the whole thing fell apart.

- Wait!
Wait, wait, wait, wait.

I think I see
what the problem was.

AJ, go back a little,
to just before it fell.

Look!
It's really tilting at the top.

But did you notice the bottom?

The ground is tilted too!

- Great observation.

- Maybe that is why
the hideaway fell over.

The ground under it
wasn't flat.

- So that means
we just have to

build the hideaway
on ground that is flat!

- Yeah!
So where is a nice, flat place?

♪ ♪

- How about right here?
It feels flat to me.

- Oh, yeah!
Come on, team!

Let's get those boxes
and build a hideaway!

[exciting music]

[upbeat music]

♪ ♪

- [squeaks]

- Ha-ha! Aww.

♪ ♪

Ha-ha!

- Ha! Last one.

♪ ♪

- Now presenting our new...
Hero Hideaway!

- Um, does anyone else
notice...

it looks a little...wobbly.

[all gasp]

♪ ♪

- Ohhh!

Oh, no.

- It's super wobbly.

- Any ideas why?

- We built it on flat ground;
it should stay up.

- Maybe we should test it
to make sure.

You know, give it
a little push.

- [squeaking]

- Be careful, Fur Blur.

- [squeaks]

[quirky music]

♪ ♪

- Phew.

- [squeaking]

[rumbling]

[squeaks]

- Uh-oh!

[all gasp]

♪ ♪

- Oh, no!
- Fur Blur!

Ahh, I'll get you!

- [squeaks]
- Almost got you!

[grunts]

Fur Blur!

Going...too...fast!

- Bottom of hill!
[whooshes]

♪ ♪

- Thanks, Sara.

- Heads up!
- [gasps]

♪ ♪

- Bubble up!

♪ ♪

- [squeak]
both: [gasp]

♪ ♪

- I'll stop you!

Huh?

- Oh, no! Fur Blur!

- [squeaks]

[dramatic music]

♪ ♪

- Gotcha!

- [squeaks]

♪ ♪

[all cheering]

- I'm glad she's okay.

[sad music]

I just wish
our Hero Hideaway was too.

Aww.

♪ ♪

Mr. Sparks: It looked like

our heroes' hideaway
had had it.

- [sighs]

I just wanted us to have
our own special place,

just like other heroes.

- So let's build it again.

- Wait, we've got to figure out
what went wrong first,

so we don't keep making
the same mistakes.

- But we built it
on flat ground.

Why didn't it stay up?

[jaunty music]

- Hmm.

Maybe it's time
for a little break.

- Mmm, mmm.

Thanks for the treat, Mr. S.

- Sí, gracias.
- [laughs] De nada.

Now, did anyone notice
any differences

between that big
ice cream cone up there

and the ones we're eating?

- Oh. Yes!

That big cone
has a flat bottom,

and these cones
have pointy bottoms.

- I wonder why that is.

- Doesn't matter.

Both kinds are delicious.

[slurps]

- I don't think
a cone like this

would be able to stand up
on top of an ice cream truck.

See?

- Wait a minute.
I know what we did wrong!

- Uh, uh,

should have ordered
the other kind of cone?

- No, I know what we did wrong
with the hideaway.

- You do?

- Thought projecting!

Remember how wobbly it was?

- Super wobbly.

- And then when Fur Blur
leaned on it...

- Oh, I can't look again!
- [squeaks]

- It fell down!

But did you notice the bottom?

It's smaller at the bottom

and then gets wider
as it goes up!

The bottom isn't wide enough
to hold it up.

- [gasps]
Kinda like an ice cream cone!

- And that cone
is wide on the bottom,

so it does stay up.

- So that's what we have to do
with our hideaway:

make it wider on the bottom!

- Excelente!

- Then let's go rebuild
that hideaway, team!

- Uh, can we finish
our ice cream first?

- Oh. [laughs]
Yeah.

Then let's go rebuild

- Lick fast, everyone!

- Oh, it's delicious!

[exciting music]

♪ ♪

AJ: Now, remember, the bottom
has to be wider than the top.

- And we have to build it
on the flat ground.

all: Mm-hmm.

- Let's do this.

♪ ♪

- Uh-uh. Wider!

♪ ♪

We did it!

Our new, new Hero Hideaway.

- It's the best hero hideaway
I've ever seen!

- Well done, class!

You figured out a great way
to solve the problem.

- It should stay up this time,

because we learned
from our mistakes.

We built it on flat ground...
- Check.

- And we gave it a wide base
so it won't fall over.

- Double check.

Now time to test it.

- [squeaks]

- Mr. Sparks,
will you give it a little push?

- Are you sure, AJ?

- I'm sure.

- Okay.

[grunts]

- [laughs]
It stayed up!

- Sparks' Crew officially
has a Hero Hideaway!

- Ha, yes!
- Finally!

- We did it!
- Fantástico!

- Great hideaway, AJ.

- We did it together!

Now, come on!
Oh, I can't wait!

Lucita: Let's go!
Benny: Oh, so cool!

Sara: It'll be awesome!

- Ha!
I found the secret passageway!

Mr. Sparks: So our heroes
made mistakes,

learned from their mistakes,

and then there was
no mistaking it:

they built a hideaway
fit for heroes.

Way to go, class!
