Whoa...
Look at that!

Come on!

Museum director:
very good gentlemen,
thank you very much!

Well, good morning!

Welcome to the museum!

Molly:
hello.

Gil:
what's that?

That my friends,
is the sphinx.

Molly and gil:
the sphinx?

Mm-hmm, the sphinx
is a huge statue

That was built a really
long time ago

In a place called egypt.

Wow!

What happened to his nose?

That's a really good
question gil,

But nobody knows.

That's the secret
of the sphinx!

Cool...

They say that if anyone
can figure out

The secret of the sphinx,

They'll find its missing nose.

Maybe we can figure it out!

Well, come back
and visit the museum!

You'll be able to see all
sorts of interesting things

From ancient egypt.

I'll see you, guys!

Molly and gil:
bye!

Let's go tell everyone about
the secret of the sphinx!

Come on!

*

Hi there!

Hello!

Hello!

Guppies:
good morning, mr. Grouper!

Well, good morning,
everyone!

Molly:
mr. Grouper!

Did you ever go to a place
called egypt?

Egypt, huh?

Well no, but I've always
wanted to go there.

Oh, I'd love to see
the pyramids,

And the river nile,

And the sphinx!

Hey, what happened
to his nose?

Nobody knows.

Both:
that's the secret
of the sphinx.

(Giggling)

If we can figure out
the secret of the sphinx,

We'll find his nose.

Mysterious...

Oh, yes.

The sphinx's missing nose
is just one

Of the many mysteries
of ancient egypt.

What does ancient mean?

Ancient means very,
very old.

That's right, nonny.

Let's think about
ancient egypt.

The people who lived
in ancient egypt

Got their water
from a...?

(Pop)

River!

That's right!

And the biggest river in egypt
is called the nile.

And the people who lived
in ancient egypt

Used enormous stone blocks
to build great big

Triangle shaped buildings
called the...?

(Pop)

Pyramids!

That's right!
The pyramids!

They also built the giant stone
statue called the sphinx.

But nobody knows what
happened to its...

Nose!

Right again!

I wonder where it went.

Nobody knows.

*

* In ancient egypt
long ago *

* Outside the city
of cairo *

* A nose vanished
from a face *

* It disappeared
without a trace *

Molly and gil:
* and nobody knows
just what went on *

* They only know
the nose was gone! *

Guppies:
* who's got the nose?

* Who's got the nose?

* Nobody knows

Guppies:
* nobody knows

* Where did it go?

Guppies:
* where did it go?

Gil:
* no, nobody knows

Molly:
* yeah, nobody knows

* Could it have floated
down the nile *

* On a barge egyptian
style? *

* Could it be under
a pyramid? *

* Who took the thing?
Who's got it hid? *

Molly and gil:
* or did they stash it
in a hieroglyph? *

* And does it ever
need to sniff? *

* Who's got the nose?

Guppies:
* who's got the nose?

Gil:
* nobody knows

Guppies:
* nobody knows

* Where did it go?

* Where did it go?

* No, nobody knows

* Yeah, nobody knows

* For thousands of years
in ancient giza *

* With no way to smell
or even sneeze-ah *

* Lion's body
all made of stone *

* With a human's head,

* And nobody knows

Guppies:
* who's got the nose?

* Who's got the nose?

* Nobody knows

* Nobody knows

* Where did it go?

* That's how it goes

* Who's got
the sphinx's nose? *

Guppies:
* who's got
the sphinx's nose? *

Little fish:
yaaaay! (Applause)

We're going on a trip.

Hello, we'd like to take
a trip to egypt.

Well, you've certainly
come to the right place!

Welcome to egypt,
travelers!

You're going to need
some supplies.

Supplies!

(Guppies laugh)

Now, what can
I get for you?

Here's a list of everything
we need.

Uh, these are pictures.

Uh-huh.

In ancient egypt they used
to write with pictures.

Really?

Okay,
oh, uh-huh, mm-hmm.

Yep, yep.

I have no idea
what this says.

I need your help
to figure out

What the pictures
on this list mean.

Here's the first picture
on the list.

What is this
a picture of?

(Whirs)

Little fish:
a fan!

I think you're right,
this is a picture of a fan.

It's really hot
in the desert,

So this fan will keep
you cool.

Now let's look at the next
item on the list.

Hmm...

This one looks tricky.

There are two pictures here.

Let's start with this one.

What is this a picture of?

Little fish:
glasses!

You're right,
these are glasses.

And what is this
a picture of?

Little fish:
the sun!

Yeah, it's the sun!

So let's put the two
pictures together.

Glasses and sun.

What type of glasses
do you need in the sun?

Little fish:
sunglasses!

That's right,
sunglasses!

These are perfect
for the desert sun!

And they make you
look cool.

Uh oh,
it's two more pictures!

We can figure this out.

What does this look like?

Little fish:
a bottle!

Right, a bottle.

And what is this?

Little fish:
water!

Yeah, it's water!

Let's put the two
pictures together.

Bottle, and water,

What does it mean?

Little fish:
a bottle of water!

Of course!

You get thirsty
in the desert.

Here you go!

All the supplies you need
for your trip!

Oona and nonny:
thank you!

Deema:
you're welcome!

And thank you for helping me
with the supplies.

Supplies!

Excuse me...

What time is it?

Guppies:
it's time for lunch!

Mr. Grouper:
* what time is it?

Guppies:
* it's time for lunch!

Mr. Grouper:
* what time is it?

Guppies:
* it's time for lunch!

Mr. Grouper:
* what time is it?

Guppies:
* it's time for lunch!

Mr. Grouper:
* it's lunch time!

Guppies:
* hey, what's for lunch?

Hey gil, what did you
get for lunch today?

I got a chicken sandwich
and an apple.

What did you get,
goby?

I got a turkey sandwich
and a pear.

What did you get,
nonny?

I got a cheese sandwich
and...

A pear-amid?

(Guppies laugh)

Little fish:
a pear-amid?
That's silly!

(Little fish giggle)

Pyramids are really big,

And they're made out of huge
blocks of stone-

Hey, molly.
Hi.

Check it out!

Look at these pictures!

I think they mean
something.

Really?
Like what?

Well, this one kind of looks
like it could mean water.

(Rumbling)

Uh oh.

(Splashes)

(Guppies laugh)

Come on you guys,
we're playing ancient egypt!

Come on!

Is that a river?

Uh huh, it's the nile.

Look out for that crocodile,
goby!

A what? Oh no!
It's the nile crocodile!

Aaaah! Look out!

Crocodile, don't eat us!

(Laughs)

(Guppies laugh)

I am the sphinx!

Has anyone seen my nose?

I'll find it for you,
oh, sphinx!

Come on,
let's go inside the pyramid.

Look over here... Pictures!

These are hieroglyphics.

Hiero...

Hieroglyphics.

In ancient egypt,

People wrote with pictures
instead of the alphabet.

That looks like a picture
of a hand.

Uh-huh,
and that's an owl.

Hieroglyphics are cool!

I think they're terrific!

* Hieroglyphics
are terrific! *

* Hieroglyphics
are terrific! *

Deema and oona:
* hieroglyphics
are terrific! *

* Hieroglyphics
are terrific! *

* Hieroglyphics
are terrific! *

Hey, wait a minute.

Maybe the hieroglyphics
can help us figure out

The secret of the sphinx.

And then we could...

Gil and molly:
find his nose!

Mr. Grouper:
all right, ancient egyptians!

Line up,
it's time to go outside!

Guppies:
* outside! Outside!

Come on!

Guppies:
* outside, everybody!
Outside! *

* Line up, everybody.
Line up. Line up. *

* Line up,
my gup-gup-gup-gup-guppies *

* Everybody get out
get-get-get up *

* Get out.
Get everybody. Go! *

Guppies:
* outside.

Mr. Grouper:
* here we go. Here we go.
Everybody line up. *

* Here we go.
Outside! *

* Everybody
let's go-go-go-go *

* Get-get out-out-out-out-
out-out-out outside! *

* Bubble guppies!

We're ancient egyptians!

On vacation!

Once upon a time...

There were two
ancient egyptians

Who went on a cruise ship
up the river nile.

There's nothing like
an egyptian vacation.

Goby,
look at the pyramids!

Wow!

And look,
there's the sphinx!

Wow!

All this sightseeing
is making me hungry!

Me too, let's go
get something to eat!

These pictures show us how
to get to the restaurant.

A restaurant?

On a boat?

Yeah, cruise ships
have everything!

First, we go past
the post office.

Then we go down
these stairs.

And then we'll get
to the restaurant!

I wonder what that
picture means.

Goby:
oh, that just means, "watch out
for the nile crocodile."

(Elevator beeps)

Molly and goby:
the nile crocodile!

Run!

Molly:
we have to find
the restaurant!

We'll be safe there!

Uh-oh, which way do we go?

We need your help!

To get to the restaurant,

We need to go past
the post office first.

Which way is
the post office?

This way?

Or this way?

Little fish:
this way!

Yeah! That way!

It has a picture
of a letter on it,

That means
it's the post office.

Molly, look!

Come on!

Nonny:
so the ancient egyptians
hurried past the post office.

That was the post office!

Now we need to find
the stairs!

Now what?

The sign said that to get
to the restaurant,

We need to go down
some stairs.

Which way should we go?

This way?

This way?

Or this way?

Little fish:
this way!

Yeah! The stairs going down
are this way!

Goby!

Yikes!

Let's go!

Nonny:
so the ancient egyptians
ran down the stairs

As fast as they could.

Goby:
he's right behind us!

Quick! Hide!

I think we lost him.

Molly, look!

There are four doors!

Uh-oh!

We need your help again!

Which is the sign
for the restaurant?

Little fish:
this one!

Right! The one with
the Kn*fe and fork!

Let's go!

Molly and goby:
nile crocodile!

Wait!
Please don't go!

Waaaah!

(Crying)

What's the matter,
crocodile?

I'm lost!

Why are you chasing us?

Because...

I have to go
to the bathroom,

But I don't know
where it is!

Don't cry, crocodile!

We can show you.

Quick,
where's the bathroom?

You're right!

Thank you!

Nonny:
and so,

The ancient egyptians
and the nile crocodile

Sat down for a delicious
lunch together.

Did you wash your hands?

Mm-hmm.

And they all lived
happily ever after.

Little fish:
yay!

(Little fish giggle)

Come on everybody,
it's time to dance!

(Guppies giggle)

Deema:
come on,
all you ancient egyptians!

Get up and dance!

Come on, get up!

It's time to jump
like a crocodile!

* Hey everybody
be a crocodile *

* Chompin' away as we swim
down the nile *

All right everybody,
when I say go,

We're gonna chomp
our hands up and down

Like the mighty jaws
of a crocodile!

* Here we go!

* Crocodile, crocodile,
chomp away *

Deema and gil:
* chomp and chomp away,

* Chomp and chomp away now!

Deema:
* crocodile, crocodile,
chomp away *

Deema and gil:
* chomp and chomp away,

* Chomp and chomp away now!

Molly:
* swimming down river
with your mighty tail *

Gil:
* protected by rows
of mighty scales *

Molly:
* look out everybody
get out of the way *

Gil:
* or you'll be a crocodile
lunch today *

Deema:
* crocodile, crocodile,
chomp away *

Deema and gil:
* chomp and chomp away,

* Chomp and chomp away now!

Little fish:
yaaay! (Applause)

There are crocodiles
in egypt, too.

They live in the river nile.

Hey molly,
check it out!

I wouldn't touch that
if I were you.

Don't worry, I'm not going
to touch the water one.

But, look at this.

It looks like the desert!

See, those are sand dunes!

(Rumbling)

(Guppies laugh)

Excuse me.

Mr. Grouper said he's going
to take us to the museum.

The museum?

Guppies:
field trip!

Come on!

Museum director:
...and it's over
three thousand years old!

Guppies:
whoa! Wow! Neat!

It's an ancient
kitty cat!

That's right, oona.

The ancient egyptian word
for cat

Was the sound that cats made:
"mew."

Guppies:
mew! Mew!

Gil:
whoa! Look at that!

Grrr!

Goby:
that's a pyramid!

Museum director:
right you are, goby.

This is what the outside
of a pyramid looked like.

And gil, would you push
that button, please?

This is what it
looked like inside.

Guppies:
whoa! Cool!

Are those tunnels?

Oh, yes.

Those are long tunnels
and staircases

That led to chambers
deep inside the pyramid.

Ahem!

A chamber is a room.

Gil:
hey, look at this!

Is it a door?

Museum director:
it certainly is.

This is ancient
stone doorway

Was once on a real pyramid.

Gil:
look! That's a hieroglyphic
of the sphinx.

(Rumbles)

Gil:
wow!

Maybe we'll find the secret
of the sphinx in here.

Come on!

*

*

Hey, look at this!

More hieroglyphics.

This looks like a hand,
knocking.

And that's the sphinx.

Molly:
and that looks like a nose.

Knock... Sphinx... Nose.

Knock... Sphinx... Nose.

(Gasp)
I got it! Look!

Knock for the sphinx's nose!

We have to knock
on something!

Hello!

We need your help!

Which door do you think
we should knock on?

Little fish:
this one!

Right! This one!

The one with the nose!

(Knocking)

(Rumbles)

Deema:
what's going on?

Gil:
uh-oh.

Everybody hold on tight!

All:
whoa-oa-oa!

Whoaaaa!

Guppies:
whoa! That was fun!
Oh boy! Oh boy!

Hey, what's that
up ahead?

Goby:
that looks like the outside!

Uh, excuse me?

I think we should
hold on again.

Mr. Grouper:
hang on!

All:
aaaaah! Whoa! Whoa!

Whoaaaaa!

Oof! Ow! Whoa!

(Guppies cough)

Where are we?

Nonny:
I think we're inside
the sphinx's head.

Deema:
inside?

Hey, look!

I don't believe it!

You guys!
Check it out!

All:
wow! Look at that!
Whoa!

Cool! I don't believe it!

We found his nose!
Wow!

Do you know
what this means?

Gilly, it means we figured out
the secret of the sphinx!

We found his nose!

We were riding in his nose?

Hieroglyphics
are terrific!

And so is that nose!

Thank you!

(All laugh)

Gilly, you did it!

You solved the secret
of the sphinx!

Yeah, I guess that means
I'm an expert

At reading
hieroglyphics now!

Check it out.

I'm pretty sure that this
hieroglyph will unlock

The many secrets
of ancient egypt!

I don't know, gilly...

Behold!

(Splashes)

(Guppies laugh)

* Bub-bub-bubble

* Gup-gup-guppies

* Bubble bubble bubble

* Guppy guppy guppy

* Bubble!
* Bubble!

* Guppy!
