MARTIN:
Hey!
We're here in North America

CHRIS:
Out west just before you get to
the Rocky Mountains,

in a broad, flat, expansive area
known as the Great Plains.

MARTIN:
And the habitat here is
a grassland called the prairies.

It's us, the Kratt brothers.
I'm Chris.

I'm Martin.

Quick, get down!

If you wonder why we're
hitting the dirt, it's because

we're trying to sneak up
on a certain prairie animal.

(Animal chirping)
This animal is always on high
alert, looking for danger.

The prairie dog.

(Chirping)

Every prairie dog
in this prairie-dog town

will warn all the rest
if he spots danger.

Then, everybody takes off
to the safety of their burrow.

And there are burrows
everywhere.

Prairie-dog pups!

More over there.

They can't wander far,
because a lot of predators

would love to grab them,
so they stay right there

around the mound where they can
make a quick zip to the hole.

Underground,
they're usually safe

in a fortress of
interconnected tunnels.

But there are predators
who can catch prairie dogs,

like coyotes.

These wild dogs can be very
clever in their approach

and grab a prairie dog before
he can disappear down the hole.

Or a badger, who will sometimes
dig a prairie dog

out of its burrow.

Ooh.

Some kind of predator got
a prairie dog right here.

A prairie-dog skull.

But the ultimate
prairie-dog predator

is the black-footed ferret.

This quick weasel with
a black mask is an expert

at chasing prairie dogs
into their tunnels.

CHRIS:
He has the ability
to go down after them

and race through the twisting,
turning tunnels.

Imagine if we had the powers
of the black-footed ferret.

What if?

So a family of
black-footed ferrets

live behind the ring of
mountains I tunneled through

where there's a huge
prairie-dog town.

And prairie dogs are the prey
of the black-footed ferret.

Without prairie dogs,
these ferrets can't survive.

So this hidden prairie

And you can't stop me

mode for my plane.

It's impenetrable.

So you can't get in

and your Wild Ratts
can't meddle with my plans!

That's Wild Kratts.
And I am gonna stop you

before you lock down the plane
by turning off your vacuum.

Whoa!

(Chuckling)

That's it?
Aren't there any more?

There are so few because
they are so very endangered.

There are only around
black-footed ferrets

left in the wild.
This was an unknown colony.

Finding it made .

Well, now you're back to ,
because I'm leaving.

Huh? Whoa!

Oof!

No!

Hmmm, some mountains popping up
in the prairies?

Something tells me
that's not natural.

It's the same shape and diameter
as my new digging machine.

I knew it!
There's Martin.

Aviva! Here!

Hey Aviva. Haha, whew.

You found me.

I can't believe you test-drove
the Stone Digger

before it was ready!

Even when I told you not to!

And you destroyed it!

It wasn't ready!

I'm sorry, Aviva.

But it was ready.
It worked! Look!

It drilled right through
that mountain, see?

It took me to this
hidden prairie

where I discovered a new colony

of the very endangered
black-footed ferret.

(Gasping)
Black-footed ferret?

I love them.
A new colony?

That's incredible!
Where are they?

Uh, that's the only problem.

Zach stole them!

(Gasping)
No! But they're so endangered.

The new colony is all gone?

Mm-hm.

(Gasping)
Well, all except this one.

Ay, que lindo.

His name is Bandito.

Oh great, a Creature Pod.

Hey, everybody, Aviva found me!

All right!
Right on.

Mission accomplished.

But now we've got a Creature
Rescue on our hands.

Zach has stolen a colony of
black-footed ferrets

and flown off with them.

Black-footed ferrets?

Now we've got to
find Zach's plane.

He's camouflaged
as a cloud again.

CHRIS:
Hmm.

This could take a while.

I'll use the amazing flying
powers of the peregrine falcon

to dive through every cloud
until I bump into Zach.

Normal cloud.
Normal cloud.

Normal cloud.
Normal cloud.

Normal cloud...

Okay, Zach was bragging about
how he had a new lockdown mode

for his plane
and that it was impenetrable.

We're going to need
a way to get in.

We might want to salvage
the Stone Digger.

What?
Grrrr!

(Growling)

Uh... I've got some tape?

Grrrr!

You have no idea

what it takes
to put inventions together.

And we could also get some help

from Bandito's black-footed
ferret power.

Awwww.

(Chuckling)
Ah, yeah.

Feel like programming
a new power disc?

Uh-huh.

MARTIN:
Okay.

He's got a long body
that's perfectly designed

for scooting through
the tightest places.

Even the twistiest tunnels
can't slow him down.

Ow!

And has sharp teeth
because he's a little predator.

(Chittering)

What's the styling
black mask for?

Hehe, yeah.

That's to cut down
the sun's glare

when he looks out
over the prairie.

Let's program
some creature powers.

(Chittering)

(Laughing)

You are one power-packed
little creature.

Now put a weasel thingy in it.

I don't really have to test it

because my inventions
always work perfectly.

But I like to.

(Beeping)

Fluid and sneaky.

(Cackling)

Normal cloud. Normal cloud--

Oof!

Ohoho, I found Zach's plane.

Oh, way to go!

You ran into a bird
and messed up the plane again.

Get it off of my windshield.

Faster.
Get it off faster!

Oh-- oh--

Aaaah!

ZACH:
Land this plane!

I want all the plane's power

diverted to production
of the final four robber-bots!

Oh, I can't wait to activate
black-footed ferret powers.

AVIVA:
Momentito.

I think I can actually salvage
the Stone Digger

as a hand-held device.

(Beeping)

Hey, I found Zach's plane.

Whoa!

And I've got a location
for you.

Sending!

(Grunting)

Way to go, bro.

Thanks, Chris.

You're welcome.

(Groaning)

To the Creature Rescue!

There must be some way in.

It can't be totally
impenetrable.

(Straining)

Aha.

Hmmm.

All the vents have been sealed.

Something big must be going on.

Zach has really improved
his lockdown mode.

I can't find any way in.

AVIVA:
Well if we can't find a way in,
we'll make a way in.

And once we're in, I know
exactly how we'll get around.

Assemble.
Assemble!

I present to you
my newest invention,

the... robber-bots!

I will send my robber-bots
to sneak into the Tortuga.

First we will use
your drill arms

to drill our way
into the Tortuga.

Okay, if we can get through
this vent cover,

we'll have an entry point.

We're in!

So you drill a hole
that is this wide.

And that is how we will breach
the outer shell of the Tortuga.

Wow, Bandito
really wants to go!

Show a black-footed ferret
a tunnel and he wants in.

And now for the second part
of our plan:

sneak through Zach's plane and
rescue the black-footed ferrets.

CHRIS AND MARTIN:
Activate Black-footed
Ferret Powers.

(Chittering)

(Chittering)

Woohoo! We have Black-footed
Ferret Power now!

To the Creature Rescue!

ZACH: (Faintly)
These robber bots will tap into
the sneaky ability

of these weasel thingies...

Do you hear that?

...to crawl through tunnels.
Forthwithly...

It's Zach.

Follow that sound, we'll find
our black-footed ferrets.

ZACH:
...and once that phase
has been accomplished,

I will release the Robber-bots

into the Tortuga's
ventilation system.

They will sneak through
the tunnels and all the while,

the Wild Kratts will not know
where they are.

(Cackling)

This is a very important
critical stage

of my master plan.

Listen carefully.
No interruptions!

Let's move.

These Robber-bots...
That was close.

the Wild Kratt inventions
and technology.

I have programmed them
to target these things:

Miniaturizer, Buzz-bikes,

Cheetah Racing Thing,

Amphisub, Butterfly XT.

Okay.
Zachbot number five...

Stick with us
and we'll sneak you outta here.

That's you!
You will go in first

and canvass the area for
any icky, gross, cute animals.

Save it till I'm finished--
no interruptions!

Come on, everybody,
into the tunnels,

black-footed-ferret-style.

Fantastico!
You found them!

JIMMY Z:
Black-footed ferrets rock.

Smooth little creatures.

(Chuckling)
Yeah, Zach didn't even know
we were there.

Yeah.
But let's be quick!

Let's return to the hidden
prairie before we're discovered.

So we are now at the moment
you have all been waiting for.

It is time to deploy
the robber-bots.

What?!

They are so sneaky,
those sneakers!

Why didn't you say something?

Where are they?

They sneaked off to hang out
with the Wild Ratts?

Aw, forget it.
You can have 'em!

Oh-ho-ho,
what great creature luck!

Yeah, finding a new colony

of the endangered
black-footed ferret.

They're cute with amazing
creature powers to boot.

And should always be living free
and in the wild.

And in the tunnels.

The black mask
of the black-footed ferret

makes him look secretive
and stealthy,

kind of like a robber
or a ninja.

CHRIS:
And on top of that, black-footed
ferrets love to be active

at night, when
they can sneak around

under the cover of darkness.

It's their favorite time
to be on the move.

And tonight, we're going to put
our creature adventure skills

to the test
as we try to sneak up

on the rare and elusive and
endangered black-footed ferret.

We're looking for eye shine.

If there's a black-footed
ferret out here,

his green eyes
will reflect back at us.

CHRIS:
We're scoping out
a prairie-dog town

because black-footed ferrets
eat almost nothing else

but these big ground squirrels.

And a prairie-dog town

is where the black-footed
ferrets will be hunting tonight.

MARTIN:
Eye shine!
We got one, right there!

I think he went down that hole.

Over here, Chris.

This is a great place
for a stakeout.

We know he went down
one of these holes, and now,

we just have to wait for that
black-footed ferret to pop up.

He could pop up that hole

but he could also pop up
out of that hole.

Bunch of holes around here.
He could pop up anywhere.

Because, you know,

he works the prairie dogs'
underground tunnel network.

Chris, over here!
He's periscoping!

CHRIS:
Got him, got him.
Wow.

MARTIN:
They don't spend much time
above ground--

really just running from one new
tunnel network to the other.

Okay, he's moving.
There he goes.

And down another one.
Down another prairie-dog hole.

CHRIS:
A black-footed ferret's
long body is super-bendable

and can twist through all kinds
of turns in the tunnels.

MARTIN:
Black-footed ferrets
are high-energy hunters.

An individual
black-footed ferret

will eat about
prairie dogs a year.

So that's about one prairie dog
every three to four days.

Believe it or not, black-footed
ferrets almost went extinct.

And one time, there were only
left in existence

and a desperate rescue effort
was put underway.

It worked.

Today, there are over
black-footed ferrets

left living free
and in the wild.

And their numbers keep climbing!

CHRIS:
It's proof that we can help

and protect endangered species.

Keep on creature adventuring.

Heh! We'll see you
on the creature trail!
