- [Chris] on the
continent of asia.

- [Martin] in the
southern region.

- [Chris] amongst
the forest and grasses,

Slithers the king of snakes.

The king cobra.

Hey! It's us,
the kratt brothers.

I'm chris.

- I'm martin.

People are fascinated
by venomous snakes.

Like cobras,
rattlers, and mambas.

These kinds of snakes
can inject deadly venom

Into their enemies or prey.

A venom strong enough
to k*ll other animals

Sometimes in a
matter of seconds.

- Let's take a look
at a couple of them.

- This is a brazilian
smooth snake.

It's sometimes also called
a false water cobra.

This snake is venomous,
but it's not a true cobra.

It's called a false water
cobra because this snake can

Flatten the skin around
its neck to make it look

Bigger to any dangerous
animal that is near.

True cobras have taken
this cool trick to

A whole other level.

- Like the one we found
in southeast asia.

This right here is the king
of all snakes, the king cobra.

This is not only the largest
cobra in the world, but

It's also the longest
venomous snake on the planet.

It can reach lengths
of feet long.

Now remember, martin and I are
zoologists, experts at being

Around venomous snakes.

Never approach a venomous
snake and always back off.

Awesome.

- Imagine if we could understand
how the king cobra lives

And how he uses his
impressive venomous powers.

- Imagine if we had
king cobra power!

- [Both] what if!

- [Martin] the cobra king

(Upbeat music)

I'm sure it's this way.

- [Chris] yep, looks like it.

- I remember passing
that log before.

- Was there an indian
mongoose on it last time too?

- What mongoose?

- He was just there!

Man, they're fast,
zippy creatures.

- Let's find him.

- Whoa, bro.

Not til we find your
lost creaturepod.

It's only the most important
adventure gadget ever.

- Oh yeah, my lost creaturepod.

Right.

So you still got a signal on it?

- Yeah, that way!

- [Martin] my creaturepod.
Here we come!

- You really got to be
more organized, bro.

Take it from me, the

- Yeah, but every time
I try to put something

Somewhere that I won't lose
it, I forget where I put it.

Like last week, I had
this great sandwich, but

Wanted to save half for later.

I still don't know
where I put it.

(Sniffs)

I do.

(Coughs)

- Oh yeah.

See, when I try putting
things in your organization

System, it doesn't work.

- Oh, brother.

- Well, I don't
really want it now.

- Okay, it says we're close.

Should be right around here.

(Gasps)

Oh, hello.

(Gulps)

Large, venomous
spectacled cobra.

Um, nice bumping into
you like this or not.

- Can you grab it, chris?

- The snake?

No way!

- No, my creaturepod.

- Are you crazy!

I can't make any
sudden movements here.

- Yeah.

It's the classic cobra
defensive pose, with that

Awesome hood.

He's saying, "I'm scared and
I really don't want to bite

You, but I will if I have to."

- Message received, buddy,
I'm backing off right away.

- Hmm, hoodie!

That's what I'll name him.

- That's great, but I really
don't want to have a staring

Contest with a spectacled cobra.

- I'll pull ya outta
there real easy.

- [Aviva] hey guys!

- I win

Now!

- [Both] whoa!

Oof.

- Whew, thanks bro.

- No problem. But he's
still got my creaturepod.

- Guys?

Hello?

- We've got a little
problem with a cobra.

- But nothing we can't handle.

- Ugh, sorry, not
helping with that.

- Cobra!

Cool!

I love cobras!

A creature that has venom
or toxin in their teeth.

And look at that hood!

- We got an x-ray scan of it.

Check it out.

These ribs have a special way
of moving out and back, which

Opens the hood wide.

It's a defensive posture.

- Excellent!

I can use that for the
cobra creature power suit!

Find out how the
venom works please!

- Find out how the venom works?

- Uh, glad to see she's so
concerned about our predicament.

- Chris,
look!

- Now that is the
hunting posture.

Just a little hood.

- Can you synchronize
the creaturepods?

- Tapping into the scanner.

- Wow.

That is serious
venomous strike power.

- One bite and it's over.

Check it out.

When the snake strikes, the
venom travels from this gland

Right through the hollow
fangs and is injected

Into the frog.

That's how the venom
gets into the prey.

- Whoa!

And it's a neurotoxic venom!

Oh quick.

Zoom in to the nerves.

The nerves are like telephone
lines, carrying messages from

The brain, telling muscles
like the heart to b*at.

The messages sometimes need
to jump from one nerve to

Another with the help of
these molecules that carry the

Message to the other side.

So things like the
heart keep working.

- But look!

The cobra venom!

It's getting in the way!

Now when a message comes down.

It can't get through
because the venom molecules

Are clogging the receptors.

Without those messages
getting through,

Heartbeat, breathing,

It all stops.

- And the cobra gets his meal.

Aviva, we found out
how the venom works.

- Awesome.

Send me the info and
I'll use it in the suits.

Good luck getting
that creaturepod.

- Chris, look!

That indian mongoose is back.

Are you thinking
what I'm thinking?

- The mongoose has it!

We got to stick with him.

Find out his secret.

- And there's one
good way to do that!

- Hang on!

- [Both] whoa!

- [Both] whoa!

- That's life for a mongoose.

High energy, high
speed and quick!

- [Both] wah!

stops moving, how're we going to

Figure out his amazing
power of venom immunity?

- Oh no, I think we're
about to find out!

- [Both] whoa!

- Mongoose, cobras,
venom immunity?

What are they talking about?

- Immunity.

That means the snake venom
is harmless to a mongoose.

How can that be?

- [Both] whoa!

- [Chris] hang on bro!

Ah!

- [Martin] uh-oh.

It's a standoff.

The cobra's on defence.

- [Chris] and the
mongoose on offense.

- [Both] whoa!

- [Martin] it's venom-filled
fangs and a sudden strike.

- [Chris] versus quick agility
and the speedy counterattack.

- People think cobras
are always the aggressor,

Out to bite everybody.

But hoodie's scared.

He's protecting himself
from a serious predator.

- Exactly!

Martin, look out!

Whoa.

- [Both] whoa!

- It's a hit!

Checking vital functions.

The messages are
still flowing fine.

Uh-oh, but here comes the venom.

The venom molecules don't
fit in the receptors.

They can't clog them.

So the messages can
still get through.

And the heart keeps b*ating.

His venom immunity
power is working!

- Amazing!

But he better not push his luck.

It's only partial immunity.

Too much venom can
still be deadly.

- [Both] whoa!

Ah!

Ah!

Woah!
Woah, woah!

- [Martin] hoodie
must be getting tired.

That's part of
the mongoose plan.

Tire the snake.

- [Both] ah!

Wah!

Wow!

- [Martin] that's it.

It's over.

- Aw, I feel so bad.

- Aw, yeah.

- The cobra just wanted
to be left alone.

Just defending himself.

- Yeah, but we always got
to remember one thing.

- [Martin] it's just
how nature works.

Predators and prey.

- [Chris] yup, no bad guys.

- No bad guys.

Well, let's grab my
creaturepod while we still

Have the chance.

- Mission accomplished.

Let's get back to normal size.

- Got the miniaturizer?

- I thought you had it!

- Uh-oh.

- It looks great, aviva.

Hoodie would be proud.

- I hope so.

I made the pattern on the
back of the hood exactly

Like his in his honor.

And the fang programming
is complete too!

Ready to print discs.

Get ready for one
cool reptile suit.

Jimmy, teleport!

- And zap it!

Wait for it and.

- [Both] whoa!

- Oops!

Time to recalibrate
my controller.

- [Both] cobra powers!

Thanks!

- You're welcome.

Cobra powers should help you
get around a little better.

- [Both] insert disc.

Touch cobra.

Activate spectacled cobra power!

- Wow!

Check out the hood action!

- And fully functioning fangs!

- Wow!
Awesome!

Uh-oh.

Let's slither, bro!

- [Both] gotta find
that miniaturizer!

- I think we'd better get out
there and help them find it.

- Yeah, now we know, even the
great defense of cobra powers

Has limitations.

- Back soon!

- Good luck!

- [Chris] hey, with
this cobra defense we're

Pretty much
unstoppable out here.

- Yeah, nothing to worry about.

Uh, except maybe a
mongoose or raptor.

- [Both] wah!

- You've got to be kidding me!

- [Martin] why is everybody
lying around by our stuff today?

- I know! Hey, do you think?

Nah.

- What?

- Well, do you think,
with cobra power,

We could get a tiger to move?

- Well, tigers do avoid cobras.

Because cobra venom is powerful
enough to k*ll a tiger.

- [Chris] exactly!

Even an elephant.

So go ahead. Give it a try.

- Huh? What?

Why me?

- Well, you lost your
creaturepod in the first place.

- I know, but, hey, two cobras
are better than one, bro.

- Oh okay, cobra power to
the minaturizer rescue!

- [Both] uh-oh.

- Defense posture!

- Activate hood!

- We've got to look as
big and tough as possible.

- I'll show him the
back of my hood.

See that tiger?

Looks like two crazy
giant eyes, right?

You don't want to mess with us.

- It's not working!

Engage fangs!

A little mock strike.

- Ooh, he definitely
knows about cobras.

- [Both] yes!

No!

- That's even worse.

Ugh, how'd we get
into this mess?

- [Martin] well, uh, I
might've lost my creaturepod.

- [Aviva] just look
out for snakes.

- Believe me, I'm
watching where I step.

- Oof.
- Oof.

Aviva, that's - a - king cobra!

- Um, one minute
your royal highness.

What?

A king cobra?

- Yeah, while I was researching
cobras, it turns out,

The king cobra is the biggest.

In fact, it's only
the largest venomous

Snake on the planet!

- It must be over feet long!

And a third of it's body
is standing straight up

Looking us in the eye!

Ahem, your majesty.

We're just going to
give you your space.

- [Koki] whoa,
it can even slither

While standing up like that.

- Koki, let's just
keep backing up slowly.

- [Koki] whew!

That was close.

- [Aviva] sure was.

- A nest.

The cobra has a nest!

- So it's not a king cobra.

It's a queen cobra?

Well, at least it's
a queen king cobra.

You sure it's a nest?

- [Koki] yeah, they're the
only snake in the world

That are known to build nests
and they guard them too.

- Wow, this is
one special snake.

(Gasps) don't move.

- What now?

- A king cobra scale.

You know what this means?

- I got to stop
bumping into snakes?

- I can make a king
cobra upgrade to the

Creature power suits!

Thanks queenie!

But I wonder where the
king king cobra is?

(Suspenseful music)

- How do you get a tiger
off a miniaturizer?

- You wait.

- Chris, look!

A fellow cobra!

- Awesome!

A king cobra!

- Hey check it out!

We're cobras too!

Come on over, co-bro!

(Laughs)

Yeah, hey with cobra
powers we've got nothing

To worry about.

- What?

Whew.

- [Both] whoa!

- Huh?

What was that all about!

- Uh, martin, we forgot.
King cobras are snake eaters!

And they love
eating other cobras!

Slither!

- [Both] ah! Oof!

- Untie it!

- [Both] ah!

- Don't I have to program
a stronger venom into

The king cobra update
of the power suit?

- Actually, the king cobra's
venom isn't as strong

As other cobras.

- What?

But they hunt other cobras!

- I know and cobras
have immunity to venom.

But like the mongoose,
they're only partly immune.

So the way the king
cobra deals with it,

Is by making lots of venom.

They can pump huge
amounts of venom into

Their predators or prey.

(Hissing)

So much venom, that even
the other cobras

Can't deal with it.

- Wow, okay got it.

I need to modify the
venom glands then.

- You know, with the male king
cobra out there, we should

Really find chris and martin.

- But this is so cool.

I'm sure they're fine.

- [Both] where is he?

- Do you see him?

- No, but he doesn't
have to see us.

He's got that tongue remember?

That tongue's used for smelling.

He'll be able to smell the
ground and track us down!

- I know.

They can track prey
over feet away!

Something's there!

- [Both] ah!

- [Chris] slither!

- We got to deactivate, bro!

- We can't!

Not until we can
get to normal size.

Being tiny is dangerous too!

- Oh yeah.

- [Both] slither, bro!

Ah!

- Whoa!

Mongoose alert.

- Aw, it's not as easy
being a cobra as I thought.

- [Both] ah!

- Ah!

Oh, oh.

He's got me, bro!

But it's a good thing I
have cobra powers right now!

Venom immunity to the rescue.

- Yeah, but it
won't last forever.

We've got to get him off!

Ah!

Oof!

- Um, martin, what're you
doing tangled in a tree?

- Long story.

Just get me down.

I got to get to chris!

(Whimpers)

- [Chris] oh no, the
immunity meter is rising.

The suit can't take
this much venom!

- Oh no!

We got to help chris.

Here, martin, use this!

- King cobra power!

Oh, that'll even out this fight!

I'm comin', bro!

Activate king cobra power!!

Now it's king versus king!

Sorry, buddy.

Cobra strike!

- Whew, thanks bro.

Just in time.

Immunity intact.

- Missed me!

- Uh-oh, king cobras will
even eat their own kind.

Okay, I've got a plan.

(Groans)

- Uh-oh, he's way
bigger than me.

What do you say we
call it a draw buddy?

I mean, hey, you're
the real king.

I give, I give!

- Don't give up so fast, bro.

Two king cobras.

- Are better than one!

- Way to go!

- That was cool!

- Yeah.

This suit is awesome!

- Hey, look who's up?

Finally we can get
back to normal size.

- Great!

And then there's something
you've just got to see!

- Wow, what a great find!

A real king cobra nest.

- Queenie here, helped us learn
how to make the power suit.

- Well, that's definitely
mission accomplished.

We got your creaturepod
back from one of the

Most venomous
snakes in the world.

- And got safely
back to normal size.

But uh, bro, sorry that
losing my creaturepod

Almost got you eaten.

I'm definitely going to be
more organized, starting now!

- I'll believe it when I see it.

- Oh yeah, watch!

Hm.

Uh, hm, hm, hm.

- This could take a while.

- [Chris] yeah, fortunately
we have a little time before

Those king cobra eggs hatch.

Let's get an inside
view of the nest.

- [Aviva] looks like time's
up, they're hatching!

- Oh!

I can't miss this!

- [Chris] the first hatchling.

Welcome to the world.

(Chuckles)

- I'll call her, princess.

Princess, the baby king cobra.

- [Aviva] aw, they're so cute.

- Yeah, but don't be fooled.

Their venom, that double
whammy deadly defense

And prey-disabling offense is
at full strength from birth.

- Uh-oh.

Then we'd better give
these guys plenty of space.

- [All] and back off!

- Oh no no no no no no!

I'm out of here!

- Okay, well, guess I
gotta organize later.

- [All] mm-hm

Jimmy!

- No doubt about it,
cobras have some awesome

Creature powers, that
amazing defensive hood,

And a powerful venomous bite.

- Now let's compare the cobra
and another famous venomous

Snake and see how they use
their venom and try not

To use their venom.

This is the western
diamondback rattlesnake.

Check out the diamond
pattern going down her back.

This pattern helps it
stay hidden from its

Predators like hawks,
roadrunners, and spotted skunks.

- Back in india
with the king cobra.

The king cobra's
black body helps to

Camouflage the snake
from predators like

Monitor lizards,
eagles and mongoose.

But this posture is its
main form of defense.

The snake rises up,
spreads out that hood,

And tries to make itself look
as big as it possibly can.

That's the snake saying,
"I'm big, I'm powerful

And I have a poisonous venom.

Don't get any closer
and leave me alone".

- The rattlesnake has
a different feature

For the same purpose.

If a predator makes
the rattlesnake

Nervous or scared,

She rattles the rattle.

She's saying, "I'm scared.

I have a defense, but
I don't want to use it

Unless I have to".

So if you hear a rattlesnake
rattling, always back

Off and give that
snake its space.

- Most venomous snakes,
like this king cobra,

Don't really want to use
their venom for defense.

They want to use
it to catch prey.

King cobras are active
hunters which means they

Actively track and
chase down their prey.

A bite from a cobra is
powerful enough to k*ll

Humans or an elephant.

All right bud, I'm out of here.

So remember, venomous snakes
will use their venom to

Defend themselves if they feel
threatened and that can be

Dangerous to people.

- Never approach
a venomous snake.

Always remember to
give a snake its space

And lots and lots of it.

- Keep on creature adventuring.

- We'll see you on
the creature trail!
