we have a new lead.

An eye witness
who survived the att*ck

on a Federation relay station.

[dramatic music]

Here's the deal:
we want to go to Starfleet,


but our ship has a w*apon

that will turn them
against each other,


so the plan is to stash it.

Keep the w*apon safe
and out of harm's way


while we hitch a ride
to warn Starfleet.


- As for Murf...
- [trills]

turns out he's going through
changes of his own.

- Are you okay in there, Murf?
- [trilling]

[groans]

I hate to disturb you,

but we need to take
a little field trip.

- [groans]
- Aw.

[soft dramatic music]

- I do not like to say goodbye.
- Me neither.

We'll be back when
we have this all sorted out.

[sighs]

leaving the ship behind?

[dramatic music]

[ice rumbling]

Tellarite royalty can't travel
on anything short of Warp Five.

[thunder rumbling]
[Rok groans fretfully]

Those are dark
nimbostratus clouds.

We better get a move on so we
don't get stuck in that storm.

[scoffs] What are you,
a meteorologist now?

Maybe I am.

Denaxi Depot.

Only major transportation hub
in this sector.

A haven for smugglers and
anyone wishing to disappear.

[chuckles]
We should fit right in.

This isn't a depot, it's a junkyard!

We just need a ship
that can get us

to the nearest
Federation starbase.

Tell me, colorful g*ng,

illegal contraband is.

[groans]

All vessels are grounded

until further notice
due to blizzard.

[groans]

miss meteorologist.

more ground to catch a ride,
but be careful.

I have no idea
who we're gonna run into.

I was barely able
to slip away in my escape pod

before the savages
destroyed the entire station.

Luckily, I was picked up
by a friendly Orion crew.

[beeps]

[suspenseful music]

[shimmering]

Barniss Frex is here.

He isn't answering
his communicator.

Some Starfleet officer.

Commander Tysess, Doctor Noum,
Ensign Asencia,

split up and
find our eye witness.

If he has answers, I want them.

Excuse me,
can I ask you for a ride?

I was looking for a ship...

- [screams]

[groans softly]

Wandering aimlessly could
hardly be considered walking.

[laughs]
Jankom Pog is so excited

to be meeting
a fellow Tellarite!

- Consider me underwhelmed.

[gasps]

[groans]

- [growls]

[screams]

[suspenseful notes]

- [speaks in Klingon]
- [groans]

to the nearest Federation starbase.

- Maybe I'll just take it.

[groans]

[snarls]

[speaks in Klingon]

- Gwyn.

- Gwyndala?
- Do I know you?

No, but I know you father.

- He's on our ship.
- [gasps]

I-I'm sorry.
I think you have me mistaken.

No, he's been looking for you.
I know you're in trouble,

but you must tell me
where the "Protostar" is.

- I have to go.
- Wait!

[groans]

Janeway to Away Team.
Status report.

- Captain Janeway?
- I prefer Vice Admiral Janeway.

- [gasps]

[sighs]

- vessel destroy your station?

everything against itself.

Maybe they had good intentions.

[clears throat and groans]

- I doubt any good intentions

were offered to Captain Chakotay,
who, thanks to these savages,

I can only presume
is captured or worse.

Can you describe them?

There was a Brikar,
a Medusan, a Tellarite,

someone not in the database,
then a real slimy one.

Oh, and a crafty, little tramp.
Purplish complexion,

creepy dingle-dangle
off the back of his neck.

[shudders]

They're here.

[alarm blaring]

[giggles]

Move, move! Sorry!

- We got to go!
- Did you find a ride?

- No, but I found Starfleet.
- Oh, that's spectacular.

- Wait, is that Captain Janeway?
- [gasps] Uh.

[all gasp]

You forgot to mention they're kids!

[chuckles sheepishly]

This is Vice Admiral Janeway
of Federation Starfleet

requesting to speak
to head of security.

I want all exits sealed.

♪ ♪

My father's escaped
and on their ship.

- You told me he's no thr*at.
- He wasn't.

He was imprisoned on Tars Lamora
with no means to pursue us.

Then how did he get a bunch
of Starfleet chasing after us?

They maybe think
we blew up that relay station

and kidnapped
the last crew's captain.

Oh, who happens to be
a close friend of the admiral's.

So all of you talked to Starfleet,

but no one told them
about the deadly w*apon?

The sole reason we left our ship?
Come on, guys.

You think they'd believe a
bunch of fugitives on the lam?

- [speaking Xindi]
[all gasp]

We can't risk them
finding the "Protostar."

If they seize the ship,
they could activate the w*apon

and destroy themselves!

Oh, my! Are leading them
to it right now?

Then I suggest we lose them!

[both panting]

Let's burn some ions.

- Spinning, spinning.

[coughing]

[all screaming]

[dramatic music]

[all groaning fretfully]

[energetic thrumming]

Illegal in most parts
of the galaxy,

heck of an exothermic kick.

[laughs]

[laughs]

[all screaming]

Uh, I had the impression we
were racing toward a starship.

[suspenseful music]

Don't worry.
We're on top of it.

[mechanical whirring]

[ice rumbling]

[dramatic music]

- Yeah, didn't go great.

[all speaking Xindi]

[suspenseful music]

[ice rumbling]

[snarls]

[Xindi screaming]

[dramatic music]

[shimmering]

♪ ♪

[trilling]

Ooh! I can't wait
to say hi to new Murf!

And I can't wait
to get out of here!

- Pog, the Proto-Drive.
- Way ahead of you, Captain.

than I am. [chuckles]

[laughs]

communicate with them,

[gasps and coughs]

[soft dramatic music]

[groans]

The "Protostar."

They're still hailing us.

If we don't answer,
we'll appear hostile.

And if we do,

that thing below
will make us even more hostile.

Ugh. Speaking of hostile,
what is that smell?

[sniffing]

- Mm, guys, we have a development.

- Uh, somebody find Murf.

- Murf!

- [trills]
- There he is.

[soft dramatic music]

- Whoa.
- [trills]

- [trills and squeaks]

[snorting and panting]

[squeals]

- Torpedo launched.
- ALL: Murf!

[torpedo engines ignite]

[alarm blaring]
- Shields.

[dramatic music]

[grunts]

- Shields holding.
- Stand by to return fire.

No. [groans]

♪ ♪

Admiral,
his daughter is on board.

That's why I'm targeting their
third nacelle. cr*pple them.

♪ ♪

[torpedo engines ignite]

[all screaming]

- [grunts]

[suspenseful music]

- How far to the Neutral Zone?

This is Federation ship.

We can't go
into the Neutral Zone.


What's the big deal?
It's neutral.

It says it right there in the name.

The Neutral Zone is the only buffer

separating the Federation
and Romulan Empire.


If any of our ships go in there,
it could start a w*r.


Not if we remodulate
our shields

so we can hide
from their sensors.

So we can go in, but
Admiral Janeway can't follow.

- Yes!
- Putting in coordinates now.

Remodulating shields.

[alarm chiming]

- Priority seven, red alert.
Are you sure about this, Captain?

- We have no choice.
- Setting course.

[engines roar]

- Admiral, they're fleeing into
the Romulan Neutral Zone.

- Stay on course.
- But the negotiations.

- It will breach the treaty.
- I'm aware, but if the Romulans

get ahold of our technology,
we'll face bigger problems.

You have your orders, Number One.

With respect, Admiral,
you once told me

to listen to my emotions,
not be guided by them.

If this is about Chakotay,

you are being guided
by them right now.

I'm sorry, Admiral.
At risk of w*r,

- I cannot fulfill them.
- [beep] We're being hailed.

[tense music]
