Hi, Blue!

[laughing]

Blue and I just found something so amazing.

You're not going to believe it.

Do you want to come see it?

You do? Great.

Come on inside.

I mean, what till you see this.

It's... we... you...

It's-it's the coolest thing.

[barking excitedly]

See?

We moved the dresser

and look what we found behind it... this door.

I wonder what's inside.

What should we do?

Open it.

Open it! Of course.

Blue, let's open the door and see what's inside.

[door clicking]

Oh... it's our old trunk.

How about that?

You know, I don't even remember what's inside that trunk.

Blue, do you know?

[whimpers]

Oh, well, let's open it, find out.

[grunting]

[barking "uh-oh"]

I think this trunk is locked.

What do we need to open it?

A key.

Oh, a key.

Right.

With a key, we could open the trunk

and see what's inside.

So, Blue, do you know where the key to this trunk is?

[barks excitedly]

Oh, great idea!

We can play "Blue's Clues"

to figure out where the key to our trunk is

and then we'll know what's inside.

[drumbeat]

♪ 'Cause it's a really great game, yeah! ♪

So, remember

Blue's paw print will be on the clues.

"Blue's Clues."

You know, I've always kind of wondered

what's insidethis paw print.

[squeaking]

What do you think is inside?

[squeaking]

Whoa!

There's another paw print

inside the paw print.

[squeaking]

Cool.

Hey, you know what we need to play Blue's Clues?

Our handy dandy...

Notebook.

...notebook, right. Come on.

Hi, Steve.

Hi, Side Table.

Do you have our notebook?

Sure. It's inside my drawer.

Oh. Well, now...

[bell dings]

...it's outside your drawer.

♪ To play Blue's Clues, we've got to find a... ♪

Paw Print!

Oh, a Paw Print. Right!

And that's our first...

Clue!

A clue? A clue!

Then we put it in our... Notebook!

♪ We got to find another paw print ♪

♪ That's the second clue

♪ We put it in our notebook, 'cause they're whose clues? ♪

You know, I can tell I'm really going to need your help today

trying to figure out where the key to our trunk is.

Will you help me?

So, did you happen to see which way Blue went?

Come on.

[music starts]

♪ I wonder where they are.

[music stops]

Okay, I don't see any clues in here, but...

there are lots of cool things to look inside.

I wonder if there's anything insidethat piggy bank.

[rattling]

What do you think is inside?

Coins!

Money!

Coins? Really?

Let's see.

[rattling]

Yeah, look.

There are coins in this pig's tummy.

That's cool.

Put these back inside.

[clinking]

Hmm... doesn't seem to be anything inside here.

A clue!

Stew?

There's stew inside this box?

No, a clue!

Oh, a clue!

Right there.

Our first clue is a box.

It's a good thing we looked inside.

You know what we need?

Our handy dandy...

Notebook.

...notebook which I keep inside my pocket.

Okay. A box.

Let's draw a parallelogram

with a line around for the bottom

then two lines going down.

There. A box.

So, where could the key to our trunk be with a box?

Maybe, maybe, but I think we should probably find

some more clues just to be sure.

MRS. PEPPER: We're ready for our first contestant.

Contestant?

Uh, what's going on, Mrs. Pepper?

Mr. Salt, Paprika and I

are about to play our Grocery Game.

Yay!

Would you like to be our first contestant?

Uh...

Will you help me play the Grocery Game?

Yay!

Wonderful!

Great.

Okay, we're ready.

All right, Mr. Salt

would you show us the first shelf, please?

Well, Steve, this is the shelf

where we keep things that have seeds.

Now, which one of these lovely items

belongs on the seed shelf?

Ring your bell when you have an answer.

Uh... I don't know.

Um... I don't see seeds on any of these things.

Um, maybe... maybe there are seeds inside one of them.

Yeah. So, which of these things do you think has seeds inside?

The lettuce, the apple the cottage cheese or the milk?

The apple!

The apple? Okay.

Uh, ding!

Um, Mrs. Pepper, we think it's the apple.

The apple, is that your final answer?

Yes.

That is the answer.

STEVE: Yeah, look at that.

Apples have little seeds inside.

That's why this apple belongs on the seed shelf.

Mrs. Pepper, would you show us our second shelf, please?

Here, you'll find a shelf that is filled with things

that have the color, red.

Which on of these lovely items

belongs on the red shelf?

Uh, the red shelf.

Um... uh... I don't know.

Mr. Salt, I think I'd like to ask a friend.

Go right ahead, Steve.

Okay, so, I don't see the color red onany of these things

but maybe one of them has the color red insideit.

So, which of these things

do you think has the color red inside?

The watermelon, the mustard, the cucumber or the cantaloupe?

The watermelon!

The watermelon. Good thinking.

Ding!

Uh, we think it's the watermelon.

The watermelon.

You got it!

Good job.

STEVE: Hey, look at the color red

insidethe watermelon.

Let's put it on the red shelf.

Are you ready

for your third and final shelf?

Yes, Mrs. Pepper, we're ready.

Mr. Salt, would you show us

the third shelf, please?

Aha! This is the shelf

where we keep things that have liquids inside.

Things that move like water.

Now, which one of these lovely items

belongs on the liquid shelf?

Wow.

Um, which one of these things

do you think has liquid inside it?

Maybe, but, uh...

but it's... it's just so hard to tell just by looking.

Um...

Ooh.

Mrs. Pepper, I think we'd like to try shaking these things.

Judges?

It's okay.

[rattling]

[silence]

[rattling]

[sloshing]

So, which of these thing do you think has liquid

or something that moves like water inside it?

The box, the bread, the carob pod or the coconut?

The coconut!

The coconut?

Ding!

Mrs. Pepper, we're going to go with the coconut.

The coconut it is!

All right!

Yes!

STEVE: Look at that.

Coconuts have liquid inside of them.

That's why the coconut

belongs on the liquid shelf.

You have answered all three questions!

[clapping]

We did it? We did it!

Here's your prize.

Hope you like it.

ALL: Bye.

We won a paper bag.

Cool.

Maybe there's something inside.

I'm so excited, I can hardly look.

Okay, here it goes.

A clue!

Yeah, I know.

This is a big moment.

Steve, it's a clue!

What? You see a clue?

Oh, look at that!

Every time we open this bag, we see a clue.

I guess "open" is our second clue.

What a cool prize.

You know what we need?

Our handy dandy...

Notebook!

...notebook.

So, open.

To help think of "open," let's make curved lines

opening out, with triangles on the end for arrows.

There, the "open" motion.

So, we're trying to find the key to our trunk.

What was our first clue?

A box!

A box.

Right, and our second clue is "open."

So, where do you think the key is

with a box and "open"?

Maybe.

But I think we'd better find our third clue, just to be sure.

And then, we can find our key to open our own trunk

and see what's inside.

♪ Mail Time!

The mail's here.

♪ Here's the mail, it never fails ♪

♪ It makes me want to wag my tail ♪

♪ When it comes, I want to wail, "Mail!" ♪

[barks]

Hey, Mailbox.

Hi, Steve. I have something inside for you.

Ooh.

Do you know what it is?

Uh, what do you think is inside Mailbox?

A letter.

Is it... a letter?

Yep.

We just got a letter.

[music begins]

That's one of my favorite things to look inside.

You pull the tab, and then you get to see what's inside.

One day, Boris the Bunny bounced out of his burrow.

[barks]

I guess bunnies live inside burrows.

It's time for lunch.

to help Boris, the Bunny.

Sammy the Squirrel's supposed to have lunch with me

but I can't find her anywhere.

[barking suggestions]

Oh, great idea, Blue.

Maybe Sammy the squirrel lives insideof something.

But... what would a squirrel live inside?

[puzzled bark]

The tree!

Let's see.

Pull the tab.

Boris! Hi.

You live insidethat tree?

Yeah. That's where my nest is.

So, some squirrels live inside trees.

Good to know.

I wonder what's inside those other places.

Ooh, there's a beaver insidethat dam.

Oh, don't worry, Boris. I mean, we'll find some.

[puzzled bark]

STEVE: Looks like carrots grow insidethe ground.

[barks happily]

And there are berries insidethat bush.

So, we're trying to figure out where the key to our trunk is.

And our clues are a box...

and a melody.

So, a box?

Well...

Maybe the key could be insidethe box.

But what kind of box?

Well, our second clue is "open."

So, maybe when the box opens, something happens.

Yeah, maybe we hear this melody.

So, what kind of box is that

that when it opens, you hear a melody?

A music box.

A music box.

That's so cool.

We just figured out Blue's Clues.
