Slippery and Blue are in the backyard.

[water splashing]

Blue and I are trying to find something

that can go across this water.

Well, maybe we can help you find something.

Ooh.

Could we use this car

to drive across the water?

Cars drive on land.

Hmm.

What could we use to move across this water?

A boat.

Yeah, a boat!

Um... but we don't have a boat.

We can make a boat.

Make a boat?

[barking idea]

Good idea, Blue.

I'll make a sailboat,

my favorite kind of boat.

This can be the bottom of my boat.

I'll add this straw and triangle piece

for the sail.

And it's a sailboat!

Let's try it out.

do you think Slippery's boat is going to float?

Let's find out.

[fanfare plays]

Look, look!

It floats!

Slippery's boat is floating across the water.

[barks happily]

Oh, yeah, Blue.

We can make a boat, too.

We can all make boats,

and we'll put them in the water

and watch them float!

Hey, Blue, what kind of boat should we make?

We can play Blue's Clues to figure it out.

Oh, look-- Boat Float decorations.

And it's on the color red.

We need our handy-dandy...

Oh, to draw the color red, we'll use our red crayon.

So, let's draw a zigzag line back and forth.

There, the color red.

So, what kind of boat could we make for the Boat Float

with the color red?

Good thinking.

But let's find the other clues and see if we're right.

PAIL: Hey, Joe?

Can you help us make our boats for the Boat Float?

is letting water get into your boat.

I can use a little clay to close up the hole.

Do you think it'll float now?

My boat's floating now.

I'm going to start decorating it.

I call it a "Peri-boat."

Oh.

Great boat making, Periwinkle.

But now I'm going to put rocks inside my boat.

It worked! It's not too heavy anymore.

Wahoo!

everyone at the Boat Float.

And I'm going to put a rock in my boat

like Periwinkle.

I'll try putting it right over here.

[gasps]

It tipped over and sank.

When Shovel put the rock right here,

the boat tipped over and sank.

Where should Shovel put the rock

so the boat won't sink?

In the middle!

Shovel, try the middle of the boat.

Do you think Shovel's boat is going to float?

Well, let's see.

With the rock in the middle, the boat balances.

an oval for the hole, a curvy line, and then another.

So, what kind of boat could we make for the Boat Float

with the color red... and a hose?

Maybe.

But let's try and find our last clue, just to be sure.

The mail's here.

Come on.

Mailbox, are you being a sailboat?

No, I'm a "mailboat."

[laughing]

[Blue barks]

[barking "skiddoo" song]

Blue just skiddooed into that boat book.

Let's go, too.

♪ Blue skiddoo, we can, too.

Whoa!

[barks]

I never knew there were so many different kinds of boats.

[imitating motorboat]

[chuckles]

Hi, I'm a speedboat.

Hi, Speedboat.

[motor revving]

[barks "uh-oh"]

Are you having trouble moving?

Yeah.

Do you think you could help me figure out what's wrong?

[barks]

Yeah, sure, Speedboat.

We'll try to help.

[motor revving]

So, Speedboat is using her motor,

but she can't move.

What does Speedboat need to do so she can move?

Pick up her anchor.

[Blue barks]

Yeah, pick up the anchor!

That heavy anchor on the bottom of the water

isn't letting Speedboat move.

Good thinking.

Anchor going up.

I can move.

All right!

Look, these boats are using the wind to help them move.

Amazing.

Hi, I'm a sailboat.

Oh, hi, Sailboat.

How come you're not moving?

I don't know.

[wind blowing]

What does Sailboat need to do so she can move?

Put her sail up.

[Blue barks]

Put her sail up.

Yeah!

Because the sail catches the wind

and makes the sailboat move.

Okay, I'll try it.

[wind blowing]

[barking happily]

Sailboat is sailing away.

I'm sailing.

Look at those boats.

They're using paddles to push the water so they can move.

Hello, I'm a canoe.

[barks]

How come you're moving in a circle, Canoe?

I'm not sure.

I'm trying to move straight, but I keep moving in a circle.

Can you help?

What does Canoe need to do so he can move straight?

Put a paddle on the other side.

Oh, yeah.

Maybe try having a paddle on both sides, Canoe.

[barks "both sides"]

It worked!

Canoe is moving straight.

[barks "Hi, Sailboat"]

She's sailing the ocean, Blue.

Thanks, Speedboat.

That was great.

[barking]

[siren wailing]

A clue, a clue!

[loudly]: What did you say?

A clue!

Oh, you see a clue.

Where?

Over there.

I'm having a hard time hearing you over this siren...

which has a paw print on it.

Oh!

That's what you were...

[siren clicks off]

[quietly]: Saying.

[chuckles]

Oh!

You found our third clue on this siren.

We need our handy-dandy...

Notebook.

Notebook.

So, a siren.

We'll draw a curve for the top, then a rectangle for the bottom,

a circle with lines for the speaker,

lines for the sound, and we have a siren.

We have all three clues to figure out

what kind of boat we should make for the Boat Float.

We're ready to sit in our...

Thinking chair.

Thinking chair, right.

Let's go.

Now that we're in our thinking chair, let's think.

What kind of boat could we make for the Boat Float

with the color red...

a hose...

and a siren?

[siren wailing]

Well, maybe it's a boat that's red.

Yeah.

A red boat that has a hose on it.

And maybe this boat has a siren

that makes those loud siren noises.

[siren wailing]

What kind of boat is red, has a hose and a siren?

A fireboat.

[barking]

A fireboat, yeah-- just like a fire truck,

except it puts out fires from on the water.

We just figured out Blue's Clues.

♪ We sat on down

♪ Figured it out

♪ What Blue's Clues were all about. ♪

Wow, you know what?

♪ We're really smart.

[song ends]

[barking]

Come on, let's go make our fireboat.

[barking]

Yeah, Blue.

We can use that red piece for our fireboat.

Ooh, do you see any holes?

No?

Great!

Oh, Blue's putting on a hose

and a little siren...

right in the middle.

There, our fireboat.

[barks "Our fireboat"]

Now we're ready for the Boat Float.

[barking excitedly]

Look at all these great boats!

Hi, everyone.

Oh, hi, Speedboat.

You're just in time for the Boat Float.

Okay, everyone, when I count to three,

you yell "Float!"

and then we all put our boats in the water.

When Slippery gets to three, we yell "Float!"

Ready?

One... two... three.

ALL: Float!

[all exclaiming]

Wind--

perfect for making my sailboat move.

No holes in my boat.

One rock for my Peri-boat, so it's not too heavy.

And one in the middle of my boat,

nice and balanced.

[barking]

Hey, let's make siren noises for our fireboat.

Ready?

[Blue and Joe imitating siren]

[barks happily]

Wow.

You really helped make a lot of boats today.

Hey, maybe you should make a boat, too.

[Blue barking]

Well, what kind of boat do you want to make?

Excellent!

[music begins playing]

♪ Now it's time for so long

♪ But we'll sing just one more song ♪
