I've been waiting and waiting for you.

Periwinkle and Blue found something in the backyard.

[ barking]

Let's go see what it is.

[ barks]

What did Blue and Periwinkle find?

An egg in a nest.

[ barks]

It is an egg in a nest.

It moved!

Did you see that?

The egg wiggled!

It's about to hatch.

A baby bird is coming out.

Yeah.

Come on, bird.

Come on out.

We're ready for you.

It's not working.

Why isn't the bird coming out?

I don't know.

Do you know why the bird isn't coming out?

Maybe the baby bird isn't ready to hatch yet.

[ barking]

Yeah, Blue, I think we should be patient and wait.

Be patient?

How do we do that?

Well, we could wait quietly for the baby bird.

Okay.

All right, let's wait.

[ barks]

Are you still waiting?

Oh, good.

Joe, nothing is happening.

Yeah.

It might take a long time for the bird to come out.

Well, maybe we could do something while we wait.

But what can we do while we wait?

What could we do while we wait?

[ music stops]

[ barking]

We'll play "Blue's Clues"

to figure out what Blue wants to do

while we wait for the egg to hatch.

So remember, Blue's paw print will be on the clues,

while we wait for the egg to hatch?

You see a clue? Where?

Right there.

Oh, right out there.

No, Joe, it's right there.

Our first Blue's clue is on these pieces of wood.

You know what we need?

Our handy-dandy...

Notebook.

Notebook, right.

So, pieces of wood.

First, a rectangle with a line on the back,

a taller rectangle behind it,

another small one and a tall one behind it.

Some lines on the front.

There-- wood.

So what could Blue want to do,

while we wait for the egg to hatch,

with some pieces of wood?

Good idea.

But let's find more clues so we can figure this out for sure.

Let's go check on the egg.

Did the egg hatch yet?

No.

[ sighs]

Oh.

I guess we still have to be patient and wait.

♪ ♪

♪ Wait, wait, wait.

What can we do while we wait?

[ music stops]

Maybe we can play with this.

It's an airplane, see?

Hey!

It's not flying.

You're right.

What do we have to do

so that the plane will fly?

Put it together.

Yeah.

Periwinkle, I think we need to put the plane together

so it'll fly right.

Oh, I can do that.

Now it'll fly.

Oh, it fell again!

It's not working, Joe.

You're right.

Hmm...

Maybe we put it together too fast.

I guess I should be patient

and think about where everything goes.

Hmm...

The wings go on the side and the tail goes on the back.

Oh, and I can use glue to hold it together.

There, now I can fly it.

Oh, no!

The plane fell apart.

Well, we put it together the right way,

and then we glued it,

but what were we supposed to do

before we flew the plane?

Wait for the glue to dry.

Oh, we were supposed to wait for the glue to dry.

The glue is still wet.

We weren't very patient.

So the wings go on the side like this...

a little more glue...

and there.

Now can I fly it?

Hmm.

Periwinkle just glued the wings back on.

Should we try to fly the plane now,

or should we wait for the glue to dry?

Wait for the glue to dry.

Good thinking.

We should be patient

and wait for the glue to dry.

It's hard to be patient.

I'm tired of waiting.

What can we do while we wait?

[ music stops]

Maybe we can try to find our second clue.

Hey! How did you get over there?

You see a clue?

Blue's on the roof?

Oh... [ laughing]

You see a clueon the roof.

That's a huge clue.

You know what we need now,

our handy-dandy...

[ chuckles]

Joe, I'm going to check on the plane.

So, a roof!

Let's draw a triangle,

then a line that goes back, down and across

and we have a roof.

So what could we do while we wait for the egg to hatch,

with some pieces of wood

and a roof?

Maybe...

but I think we should find that last clue just to be sure.

[ Blue barking]

VOICE: Joe, your last clue is in here.

Really.

Our last clue is in that game.

We need that clue.

[ barking]

Yeah, let's skidoo to our last clue.

Come on.

♪ Blue skiddoo, we can, too.

[ barking]

Wow, we're in the game.

Okay, we're here.

Where's the clue?

VOICE: Joe and Blue, welcome to "The Waiting Game."

The Waiting Game.

[ barking]

What do we do?

VOICE: Your clue is behind this blue door.

But to get there, you must wait on this line.

Okay, so we have to wait on this line.

Wow, that's a long line.

Um, are you sure we have to wait in this long line?

VOICE: Yes.

Okay.

[ barks]

Wow! Looks like we have to wait a long time.

♪ Wait, wait, wait.

What can we do while we wait?

[ barks]

Great idea, Blue.

Let's play "I Spy."

I got one!

[ barks excitedly]

I spy something that is white,

fluffy and floats in the sky.

What do I spy?

The cloud.

[ barks]

Yeah!

I spied the cloud.

Wow, you're good.

Look at that. We played I Spy,

and now we're closer to the front of the line.

[ barks excitedly]

But we still have to wait.

[ barks]

♪ Wait, wait, wait.

What can we do while we wait?

[ barking]

Ooh, we can count the clouds.

[ Blue barks]

JOE: How many clouds do you see?

Five.

Five clouds, yep--

one, two, three, four, five clouds.

Look at that!

We were so busy counting the clouds,

we got further in the line and we didn't even notice.

[ barks excitedly]

But we still have to wait.

♪ Wait, wait, wait.

What can we do while we wait?

Maybe we could see how many spaces there are left

before we get to our third clue.

Hmm.

Well, there are one, two, three, four pieces ahead of us.

[ barks]

Now how many are there?

Three.

Three?

Let's see.

One, two, three.

That's it.

[ barks excitedly]

Now there's...

two.

And now...

one.

[ barking happily]

Blue, we're next in line to get our clue.

It's our turn.

You made it.

Congratulations on being sopatient.

Well, the line was pretty long,

but we played games to pass the time.

You deserve your third clue, and you'll find it...

that way.

[ barks "Thank you"]

[ laughs]

Wow, what a beautiful bird.

Oh, excuse me, bird.

We found our third clue.

You know what we need.

Wow, we waited and waited, and now we found our third clue--

a bird.

Let's draw a circle for the head and a beak like this,

two eyes, a curve around for each wing,

a curve here, two legs and a tail.

There, a bird.

We have all three clues to figure out what Blue wants to do

while we wait for the egg to hatch.

We're ready to sit in our...

Thinking chair.

Thinking chair, right.

Come on.

Now that we're in our thinking chair, let's think.

So, what could Blue want to do

while we wait for the egg to hatch

with some pieces of wood...

a roof...

and a bird?

Well, maybe we could take the pieces of wood

and put them together in a rectangle shape.

And then we could put the roof on top of it.

And maybe the bird could go inside.

Well, so then what would we be doing?

Making a birdhouse.

Making a birdhouse.

Brilliant.

We could make a birdhouse for the bird

while we wait for the egg to hatch.

We just figured out Blue's Clues.

[ Blue barks]

♪ We sat on down

♪ Figured it out

♪ What Blue's clues were all about ♪

♪ Wow! You know what?

♪ We're really smart.

[ song ends]

[ barks]

Come on, Blue, let's go make a birdhouse.

[ barking excitedly]

Joe!

We waited for the glue to dry,

and now the plane's flying.

[ barking]

Wow, that's great.

Periwinkle, we're making a birdhouse

while we wait for the egg to hatch.

All right!

[ barking]

Is it done?

Nope, we have to wait for the glue to dry.

[ barks]

♪ Wait, wait, wait.

What can we do while we wait?

♪ Mail time, mail time, mail time! ♪

We can get the mail while we wait.

Periwinkle, you check on the egg.

We'll get the mail.

♪ Here's the mail, it never fails ♪

♪ It makes me want to wag my tail ♪

♪ When it comes, I want to wail, "Mail!" ♪

[ barks]

Hey, Joe, I've been waiting to give you this letter.

Thanks, Mailbox.

We just got a letter.

[ music begins]
