01x07 - Beyond the Shattered Sea

BOORMAN: I'm begging
you, let me do this.

- JADE: We're rescuing Willow.
- And Kit.

ELORA: And all the
other people they took.

- ALLAGASH: You're Willow.
- WILLOW: And you're not Madmartigan.

SARRIS: Hi there.

- Which one of you is Elora Danan?
- (ALL GRUNTING)

Mads tracked me down after years,

asked me to join him
for one more adventure.

- KIT: To find the Cuirass.
- Here. (LAUGHS)

I put the Lux in and nothing.

There's only one way to find
out if it'll work for you, kid.

MADMARTIGAN: (ECHOING)
Kit. Can you hear me?

ALLAGASH: Your father went off
to fight whatever's down there

'cause he believed one of you would

protect what matters most up here.

What matters most?

Elora Danan.

Now get outta here.

- (YELLING)
- (TROLLS SCREECHING)

I could've brought him back,

and I could've finally understood why

- every time he chose you instead of me!
- (CRASHES)

Your vision.

You saw her fight the Crone.

WILLOW: No matter what I do, for

our world to survive, she has to die.

WOMAN: Anybody out there?

Anybody? Are you gonna...

let me out?

(CAPTIVATING MUSIC PLAYING)

- How long?
- (WIND WHOOSHING)

AIRK: The light changes.

The weather... The...

The clouds move too fast.

- (SIGHS)
- The sun never sets,

this day never ends.

It will, eventually.

How do you know that?

'Cause nothing lasts forever.

It's okay, you can drink it.

I don't know why it's that
color but it tastes... good.

WOMAN: You drank it?

Mmm-hmm.

(GROANS)

(SIGHS)

(SIGHING)

S... So, where are you from?

- WOMAN: Cashmere.
- AIRK: Oh, really?

(GRUNTS) I'm from Tir Asleen.

- Which is a kingdom in the Vale...
- I know where it is.

Oh. Right. Sure.

(SIGHS)

- I'm actually the prince of Tir Asleen.
- Congratulations.

Oh, no. (LAUGHS) I didn't... I wasn't...

I was saying that I think
that maybe that's why I'm here.

- Are you at w*r?
- No.

(SIGHS) Or... Well,
we weren't when I left.

- Well, then who'd kidnap you?
- (SIGHS)

I don't know. I don't know.

I've had a lot of time to think about it

and that's the best I've come up with.

Either that or I'm in the most
tedious nightmare of all time.

- At least it was until...
- Until what?

- Uh, nothing. Nothing.
- (SIGHS)

Listen, Prince Chauncey McSleazoid
or whatever your name is,

I don't know what
you're used to back home

but I'm not a palace
ditz gonna go all quivery

just 'cause you bat your
eyes at my direction.

Oh, yeah... No. I didn't
think that you were...

What? That I'd be the damsel in
distress in your sicko fantasy?

- No!
- WOMAN: Little witty banter,

casual innuendo or two, see if I'm game.

Then you confess some insecurity.

"Hey, he's got depth,
empathy, good listener too."

And before we know it,
we're rolling in the hay.

Okay, no. I... I... I...

I've been down that path enough to know

it doesn't lead anywhere I wanna go.

All I'm interested in
is getting out of here.

Airk is my name.

Couldn't care less.

(SIGHS) And I'm actually
seeing someone so...

Good for you.

Yeah. Yeah, yeah. She's great.

She's... She works in the...

(SIGHS) Look, listen.

I wanna get outta here
every bit as much as you do

but I'm pretty sure
that we're trapped here

until the things that
brought us here come back.

You saw 'em?

Monsters.

But I haven't seen
anybody since I got here.

- Except for you.
- And you've tried to leave?

I did. I walked for days or weeks.

(SIGHS) But somehow the city...

- It just... It... It brought m...
- (VOICE ECHOING)

What?

Kit!

Hold on!

ELORA: Vantage abhor turmach!
Vantage abhor turmach!

AIRK: Kit!

- Vantage abhor turmach!
- Kit!

Vantage abhor turmach!

- (SPLASHING)
- (GASPS)

- JADE: Kit!
- (COUGHING)

- (PANTING)
- JADE: It's okay.

I got you. I got you.

You're alive. It's okay.

- (KIT COUGHS)
- JADE: Come on.

- (KIT GRUNTS)
- (CRASHING)

GRAYDON: Come on!

(CRASHING)

(KIT PANTING)

(WILLOW SIGHS)

You should try it.

- What?
- See if it works.

Oh, you mean, just...

No, no, no. (LAUGHS)

You don't do a thing
like that just casually.

Demands the perfect moment,

like charging into
the cave of a serpent,

or facing down a horde of Death Dealers.

Visiting your mother after you

haven't seen her for, like, two years.

I should really check up on my mother.

(TENSE MUSIC PLAYING)

WILLOW: The Shattered Sea.

Where the maps end and
our final test begins.

ELORA: What's the test?

We have to walk across it.

Do we, though?

'Cause no one who's gone out

there's actually ever come ever back.

Crossing the sea is the only
way to reach the Immemorial City.

- So let's go.
- No.

You need to rest.

I'm good.

(SNIFFLES)

- (SIGHS)
- JADE: (ECHOING) Kit.

(PANTING)

JADE: I think we can
all do with some rest.

GRAYDON: We need to resupply.

Food and water, dry out somewhere.

(SEABIRDS CAWING)

(DOOR CREAKING)

GRAYDON: Hello?

Anybody home?

Hello?

- Anybody here?
- (SNIFFLES)

I'm fine.

Just... (SIGHS) lost my balance.

(SUSPENSEFUL MUSIC PLAYING)

I guess there are worse ways to go.

- What?
- (SCREAMS)

- (GASPS)
- ELORA: Oh, God.

I am dreaming

- and you are figments of my imagination.
- (SIGHS)

- Afraid not.
- Prove it.

- JADE: Prove that we're real?
- (LAUGHS)

You can't, can you?

Or perhaps I'm a figment
of your imagination.

Or we're all phantoms in the
dream of some vindictive god

suffering from a spot of indigestion.
(LAUGHING)

(MAN GRUNTS, FARTS)

- MAN: Whoa! (LAUGHS)
- BOORMAN: There you go. Yeah. Easy now.

- MAN: Ah. Liberating, isn't it?
- BOORMAN: What?

That it doesn't matter.

Nothing matters.

You have coin?

I have gold, some gems,
diamonds, sapphires, rubies.

And we've never once
stayed at a decent inn.

- (THUDS)
- (CREATURE SCREECHES)

- (CHAINS CLINKING)
- MAN: Don't get many customers

outside of colossus crab season...

(SIGHS) and even that
isn't what it used to be.

- (CREATURE BELLOWING)
- (CHAINS CLINKING)

- What is that?
- That's a Mudmander.

(CRANKING)

Zeb's silt sleigh.

Available for excursions if you fancy

a tour around the many scenic coves

and islets of the Eastern Coast.

And, uh, what if we wanted
to take it a bit further?

Turns out Willow's loaded so...

Yeah, how much to buy it?

(STAMMERS) Let's discuss after supper.

Uh... You all look as if
you could do with a hot meal.

And lucky for you,
I'm an excellent cook.

(SQUISHING)

ZEB: (SIGHS) Sup' up, everyone.

- (WORM CHITTERING)
- (SLURPING)

- BOORMAN: Mmm! (SLURPING)
- WILLOW: Uh...

- Do you have any salt?
- (EXCLAIMS) Salt?

(ZEB FARTS, GRUMBLING)

GRAYDON: Mmm.

Salt. There it is.

You know what, didn't
even need any salt.

Definitely need salt. Excuse me.

(SLURPS)

WILLOW: You from Cashmere?

Aye. You've been?

Long time ago.

- You ever meet a bloke there named Phil?
- Uh...

- Not that I recall.
- Good.

He's a right jackass.

What are you doing out here all alone?

Uh, well, I was a warrior.

Paladin of Cashmere.

One of three sent to rescue the princess

who was taken by servants of
a dark power and whom I loved,

though she was betrothed to...

- To who?
- (STAMMERING) No, no, hang on a minute.

That's a different quest.

- This one was to find an enchanted pool...
- (SIGHS)

... that granted whomsoever
drank of its water...

No, that's not the right one either.

You don't know what quest you were on?

(STAMMERING) Well, all
these quests and battles

and aspirants vying for the throne,

they sometimes sorta
all get blended together.

Well, what do you remember?

Ah. Years, wandering the Shattered Sea.

Our boots rotting, our swords
rusting in their scabbards.

Till we forgot who we were,
what we were searching for.

And in the end, turned on each other.

- m*rder*d each other.
- (THUNDER BREAKING)

What's beyond the Shattered Sea?

Some say that, uh, eventually you reach

the edge of the world and
get swept off. (LAUGHS)

Others speak of a leviathan,

so monstrous that even to
see it is to lose your mind.

- But the truth, I know...
- (TENSE MUSIC PLAYING)

There's nothing beyond.

The sea goes on forever.

(THUNDER RUMBLING)

Just because you didn't find

anything, doesn't mean it isn't there.

- It is.
- Guess we'll find out.

Yeah.

We will.

When I was drowning, I saw Airk.

And The Crone was reaching out for him.

I think he's running out of time.

(WIND WHOOSHING)

(GROANING)

(GROANS)

Hey, new girl!

Where you at?

(SIGHS)

(PANTING)

(VOICES ECHOING)

WOMAN: This is incredible. (GASPS)

- Come on, let's go.
- Why? What's down there?

- I don't know, I just...
- (VOICES ECHOING)

I just know that we shouldn't be here.

What if it's the way out?

- The only way out.
- It's not, okay?

But how can we know until we try?

AIRK: Do whatever you want.

Wait! I'm sorry.

- (GASPS)
- (SLAMS)

Just please...

don't go down those steps.

WOMAN: I won't. I promise.

It was just...

What?

(AIRK GASPING)

(SIGHING)

I think, maybe, I know why we're here.

How much do you know about Cashmere?

Just what everybody knows.

The Paladin Circle, Ivory Tower,
streets lined with moonstones.

It's very beautiful.

High walls that keep us safe, isolated.

There are rules,

and so long as you follow them,
you'll never want for anything.

Except...

What?

There were rumors of a secret sect

that worshipped some sort
of ancient blood magic

called The Order of the Wyrm.

Their acts of sedition
were small, at first.

Desecrations, fires,
crimes without culprits

- but they'd always leave their mark.
- (SUSPENSEFUL MUSIC PLAYING)

One night, they fought
their way into the tower,

k*lling the guards and
kidnapping the princess.

Why? To what end? To seize power?

Maybe. I don't know.

I woke up here.

You were merciless when
I told you I was a prince!

- You were snotty about it.
- No!

"I'm the prince of Tir Asleen.

Wanna scrub some laundry on my abs?"

Uh, actually, I didn't... First
of all, I don't sound like that.

- Yeah, you kinda do.
- Second of all... I kinda don't.

Yeah, you do but you're less
obnoxious than I expected.

- Still not gonna make out or whatever.
- I hadn't even thought about it.

Of course you have. You're
thinking about it right now.

(SEABIRDS CAWING)

(SNORING)

ZEB: Breakfast, anyone?

I can knock you up
some eggs, no problem.

(CRACKING)

Well, we'll take any food you can
spare but we have to get moving.

What? Where?

Beyond the Shattered Sea.

You're in no fit condition
to be going anywhere.

Neither is the peck.

Stay, recuperate.

- You okay?
- ZEB: Oh. Rough weather coming on.

Best wait it out.

BOORMAN: (CLEARS THROAT) You
know what? Maybe he's right.

I mean, I don't know, what's
one more day when you're gonna be

trudging across the Shattered
Sea for, you know, ever.

KIT: That's fine.

You can stay.

We don't need you.

- Well, who likes theirs scrambled?
- (GRUNTS)

You could've just said poached.

We gotta get out of here right now!

- (CREAKING)
- (THE DAG SCREECHING)

GRAYDON: Aw, not again!

Come on, get up!

Quick! Get on the thingy.

Move, you idiots!

(CRASHES)

- (MUDMANDER SCREECHING)
- Hyah! Hyah!

Hyah!

- Hyah!
- (HORSE APPROACHING)

Fly, mud creature.

- Fly like the wind.
- (THE DAG SCREECHING)

Don't worry. Papa's got a harpoon.

- Faster!
- (GRUNTS)

(WHIRRING)

- Huh? (GASPS)
- (CHITTERING)

JADE: Boorman, the Lux! Try it!

- No!
- Why not?

Because there's a perfect
moment for that. This isn't it.

- (GASPS)
- (SCREAMS)

- Elora, the wand!
- What do I do?

All your feelings of love, dedication,

and devotion, gather them up and...

Furrochk lithrak!

Close.

- (SNARLNG)
- (BOTH GRUNTING)

Furrochk lithrak!

Get off, Boorman!

(GROANS)

- Whoa. (GRUNTS)
- (THE DOOM CHITTERING)

(BOORMAN GRUNTING)

- Get rid of him, Boorman!
- (GRUNTING)

(SCREECHES)

Va-nu expartre!

(SCREECHES)

- (expl*si*n)
- (LAUGHS)

- (SNARLS)
- (GROANS)

GRAYDON: Elora, no!

- Elora!
- (RASPY GRUNT)

- (VOICE ECHOING)
- (STABS)

(GRUNTS)

(SOFTLY) She's coming for me.

(CHAINS CLINKING)

(GROANS)

JADE: Did I ever tell
you about that time

when I thought I caught a possum

but it turned out to be a porcupine?

And they had to pull, like,
quills from my foot.

You said it was like three.

No, it was definitely more than three.

The point is, every
time they yanked one out,

they used the same fool-proof
method to numb the pain.

- Ow!
- (SCREAMS) Ow!

BOORMAN: And this is
where it gets really crazy.

So I was like, "Move in." (LAUGHS)

And she was like, "Do
you want me to move in?"

And I was like, "You know, I... If

you wanna move in, you can move in."

But, you see, you know, really,

I think she could tell that I
didn't want her to move in, so...

GRAYDON: We need to stop.

This Mudmander thing is listless.

It's gotta rest or do whatever

Mudmanders do to get their oomph back.

Same as us, pal.

They mate.

(BIRDS CHIRPING)

(MUDMANDER GRUNTING)

GRAYDON: All right,
come on, time to eat.

If you wouldn't mind, not
biting the hand that feeds you.

- That's it. It's okay.
- (GRUNTING)

- (CHITTERS)
- Aw!

I shall name you Kenneth,

after the protagonist of the
romantic farce I'm writing.

- (PURRING)
- That was impressive what you did today.

- What was that you were using?
- Oh.

Just my flute.

You know, it was... it was instinct.

Just from listening to you and Elora.

Meaningful objects can be
conduits, but the magic's in you.

ELORA: Hey.

Time to train.

So, what happened
earlier? On the sleigh?

- I froze.
- Why?

- Doesn't matter.
- So, what do you do?

Take all the love and crap
in the center of my chest,

let it build up, and then
sh**t it out of my wand.

- WILLOW: All right.
- (CHIMING)

You know, your opponent
won't tell you when to...

- Kathoth lunanore!
- (THUDS)

- (GROANS)
- (PANTING)

- (GASPING)
- WILLOW: Good.

So, what did we learn?

That you're a little mean?

WILLOW: Sure.

Also, you have to learn to
defend before you att*ck.

A simple buckler spell, hither
tuatha, should repel most hexes.

And, as with all magic,
you have to mean it.

Remember, simplicity, intention,
and, most importantly, the breath.

(BOTH BREATHING DEEPLY)

Centered.

Avalorium lanoosh!

Hither tuatha!

Missed.

In battle against an opponent
who means you real harm,

you have to be prepared for anything.

(GASPS)

(CRACKLING)

(STRAINING)

- (GRUNTING)
- (THUDS)

(GROANS)

(PANTING) Get up.

(GRUNTS)

- (ENERGETIC MUSIC PLAYING)
- Come with me.

Okay. Where we goin'?

You wanna spar? Now?

Elora isn't the only one that
needs to get ready for a fight.

This time, don't you dare hold back.

(BOTH GRUNTING)

Come on, focus.

Not on your petty rivalries,
but on what you're doing.

(GRUNTS)

- (ELORA GRUNTS)
- (THUDS)

(BOTH GRUNTING)

(MUSIC STOPS)

- I know what you're doing.
- What's that?

Minetta's Ploy.

(BOTH GRUNTING)

Your opponent thinks that they know you,

thinks they can
anticipate your next move.

But you keep frustrating
those expectations.

- (BOTH GRUNTING)
- (EXHALES)

Sounds pretty frustrating.

(BOTH GRUNTING)

JADE: Yeah, can be frustrating.

Especially if you've been, like,
aching to fight them for a while now,

but circumstances keep
denying them the opportunity.

Maybe forces them to make a mistake,

or leaves them vulnerable
to something unexpected.

(JADE GRUNTING)

- That's the strategy.
- I love you.

- (GASPING)
- (PANTING)

You fight dirty.

About time.

- (BREATHING HEAVILY)
- I really do...

love you.

- Yeah?
- Yeah.

Then shut up and do something about it.

(JADE MOANS)

You are still holding back.

You've gotta dig deeper.

Use your emotions, your imagination.

You wanna defeat the Crone?

Well, go on, show me.
What are you waiting for?

- Stop it.
- What?

- (THUDS)
- (PANTING) Baiting me.

It won't work.

What, and denying your feelings will?

- I... I don't wanna hurt you.
- What do you want?

- To... To save Airk.
- Why?

- (THUDS)
- Because I love him.

What do you love about him?

His cute smile? That he's a prince?

Or maybe because all the other
girls wanted him and he picked you.

He was kind to me.

WILLOW: What, and no one else
has ever been kind to you before?

No stable boy has ever smiled back?

What do you want me to say?

Your doubt, jealousy, pride, hunger.

Accept those parts of yourself,

'cause it's the only way
you'll ever master them.

- I want you to be honest.
- (HOARSELY) Fungi yuggoth.

Fungi yuggoth.

Willow! No!

(PANTING) Willow! Willow!

(GROANING)

(BIRDS CHIRPING)

BOORMAN: Dare I ask, how do we know

we're even going in the right direction?

Has anyone else noticed the days getting

longer and the nights getting shorter?

Yes.

(SIGHS) Also, we're running out of food.

- BOORMAN: Uh-huh.
- Wanna turn back?

- BOORMAN: Yep, I do.
- No.

That spell you used
on me, it was Pnakotic.

- Was it?
- Yeah.

Where'd you learn that?

At Nockmaar.

In the Malatrium.

WILLOW: The Crone's feared
you since before you were born.

She'll try and weaken your
resolve, manipulate you.

- How?
- Not really any of your concern, is it?

It is if she succeeds.

Just get me where we're going.

And then what?

I'll k*ll the witch.

(TENSE MUSIC PLAYING)

WOMAN: I wasn't happy.

- Why not?
- I should've been.

I had everything I could ever want,

none of it could squelch this nagging

feeling that something was wrong.

With what?

Cashmere.

These rules we obeyed, what was
okay to think, to say, to want.

What if I wanted something else?

Something that wasn't
permitted? Or safe?

Well, you shouldn't do things just
because they're expected of you.

You don't do what's expected of you?

Nothing's expected of me.

- So what are you gonna do?
- AIRK: I don't know.

Marry Dove, start a family.

- Dove?
- Her real name's Brünhilde.

- I just call her Dove.
- Right.

Then defend the realm.

You know, defend the realm
and just be the best brother,

and husband, and father, and
son that I can possibly be.

Because that is what you do
when you have honor, right?

- What do you want?
- To be free.

To follow my impulses,
say what I really think.

You know, I...

(BOTH BREATHING HEAVILY)

(BREATH SHUDDERING)

I can't.

- Right, that was dumb.
- I can't.

- No.
- I'm sorry.

No, no, no, don't be. Don't be.

- I... I really do love...
- Dove.

Yes, yes.

Yes, and I have to get back to her.

I think maybe I know
a way you can go home.

I was here before you got here.

I've actually been here a long time.

I hid from you because
I've made mistakes.

I trusted the wrong person,

and I had to be sure
that I could trust you.

I was like you once,

trapped by my fears and
the lies I had to unlearn.

You are the one that brought me here.

- You're freaking out.
- Yes, I am. A little.

It's natural.

- It's how it always starts.
- What?

You think know what
is real and what isn't,

what is light, and what is dark,

what is good, and what is evil.

Oh, my God.

Now forget all you
know or think you know,

and come with me.

KIT: I heard my father's voice.

- Calling out to me.
- When?

Beyond the seal.

In the light.

What is the Wyrm?

If magic is the
bloodstream of the universe,

the Wyrm feeds on it.

Imprisoned a long time ago
beneath the surface of world,

it waits, sleeping.

When it wakes up?

(SCREAMS ECHOING)

Da! I really need you right now.

I wasn't strong enough to keep him out.

(SOBBING) Please.

BOORMAN: Wake up!

- (GASPING)
- (GROANING)

I'm sorry. You were dreaming.

It wasn't a dream.

I've been having them too.

Same one over and over.

What's yours?

I'm at this wedding.
I'm completely naked.

Everyone's laughing at me.

Which doesn't make any sense

'cause, you know, I look
phenomenal, you know, naked.

- And I've got really gorgeous...
- All right, don't say any more.

(PURRING)

I don't know what to do.

The further we go, the
more depressed he seems.

I think we're getting close.

You know, to the city.

I think maybe he can feel it.

Hey, stop it. Stop it.

- What?
- Scratching.

It'll only make it worse.

(SNIFFLES)

I think I just wanna be alone
with him for a little while.

MIMS: (ECHOING) Da!

I really need you right now.

How much further, you think?

Look, I said we'll
get there and we will.

Just makin' sure you still believe it.

Been out here a long time.

Weeks...

Months. I can't even tell anymore.

Can you?

No.

I miss Mims.

If you could talk to her
right now, what would you say?

Hang on, bobbin. (SIGHS)

I'll be home soon.

(SOBS)

You should sleep.

I'm not tired.

You're no good to anyone weak.

I stopped you from...

going after your father.

(SIGHS)

- But you saved my life.
- Yeah.

I don't know why Madmartigan
did whatever he did.

I don't even remember him.

But I don't believe that
he chose me over you.

And I don't believe
that he didn't love you.

Completely.

I was jealous of you.

And not 'cause you're the
Chosen One and I'm not,

but just 'cause of
the way that people...

Nothing I've ever wanted
has come naturally to me.

What did you want?

To be brave.

And loved.

- And to not be a princess. (SIGHS)
- (LAUGHS)

It's funny.

I sort of did.

(THUNDER RUMBLING)

I am worthy of this.

(METAL CLINKS)

(THUNDER BREAKING)

(BREATHING HEAVILY)

- (GRUNTING)
- (THUDDING)

WILLOW: Danu, danu, greenan luatha.

(ECHOING) Mims, hear my voice.

Reach out to me.

MIMS: Da?

Mims, are you okay?

Are you safe?

MIMS: I'm fine.

I was so worried.

I had a vision.

Silas came home.

Well, that's...

Silas is dead.

We didn't know.

We let him in.

You weren't there to protect us.

Off on one of your adventures.

Just like last time.

How is your adventure, Da?

Are you having fun?

(GASPS)

Hey, you're dreaming.
Hey, you're dreaming.

- I have to go home.
- You can't.

We need you. I need you.

When Kiaya needed me, I wasn't there.

By the time I got back, it was too late.

Ranon, he blamed me.

- That's why he ran away.
- (THUNDER BREAKING)

- Mims is all I have left.
- It's the Crone.

She's trying to separate us

because she's afraid of what
we can do if we're united.

- How do you know it isn't real?
- BOORMAN: Don't you understand? Huh?

- You've k*lled us!
- I had to do it. I didn't have a choice.

What did he do?

- He set Kenneth free.
- GRAYDON: He was sick!

If I didn't, he was gonna die!

- (SIGHS)
- BOORMAN: Yeah? Well, now we're gonna die.

Hundreds of leagues from anywhere.

There's no way to go forward,
there's no way to go backwards.

And nothing, nothing has gone
the way it was supposed to!

- (BOORMAN PANTING)
- We have to walk.

It's what you said.

We walk across it.

For how long? Till we starve?

It's not long now.

We're close.

- (GROANING)
- (SCRAPING)

- (DOOR SLAMS)
- (GROANING)

(OMINOUS MUSIC PLAYING)

- I'll do whatever you want.
- (SHUSHING)

Don't be afraid.

We've got you now.

(WIND WHOOSHING)

(ELORA PANTING)

We're almost there.

I didn't know how far we'd have to go.

Your mother told me before we
left that you'd never give up.

And there might come a time
where I'd have to bring you home.

You think this is it?

No.

I think you're gonna make
that decision on your own.

(THUNDER RUMBLING)

- (WIND WHOOSHING)
- BOORMAN: Hey.

Do you see that?

What? The giant skull?

Yeah. Just checking.

I'm not who I thought I was, Gray.

Who are you?

(BOORMAN PANTING)

I'm nobody.

You okay?

It's funny.

When I was a kid, I used
to play at being a sorcerer.

Visiting strange worlds,
fighting monsters.

Never thought I'd actually really
do it, let alone with Elora Danan.

When we get to the city, I
know you're gonna save Airk,

and you two will go off together.

'Cause you love him.

And while I don't love
him, I do love you.

- Graydon...
- It's okay.

I'm not asking you to love me back.

I just wanted to tell
you 'cause without you,

I never would've have become
the man I've always wanted be.

(SOLEMN MUSIC PLAYING)

- Whoa!
- (ELORA GASPS)

- KIT: Oh, my God.
- (WATERFALL CRASHING)

ELORA: Impossible.

Maybe we took a wrong a turn somewhere.

Oh, yeah, should've gone left.

We crossed the sea. We passed the test.

The city is supposed to be here.

- It isn't.
- It has to be!

I'm turning back.

Yeah, me too.

We went as far as we could, Elora.

(SOFTLY) No.

This isn't how it ends.

How does it end?

ELORA: In the Immemorial City.

With the wand broken,
(GASPING) and me...

dead.

What?

It's what Willow saw in his
vision all those years ago.

(BREATHING SHAKILY)

The reason why Sorsha
didn't want him to train me.

Tried to hide me away.

'Cause if I face the
Crone, that's how it'll end.

(SHUDDERS)

Isn't it?

How did you know?

She showed me.

The Crone? You've been,
what, communing with her?

Great. Just great.

She led us right here.

WILLOW: I thought I could change it.

But I'm not a great sorcerer.

- I'm just a farmer who got lucky.
- (SOBBING)

And I can't keep pretending.

(SOBBING) Neither can I.

I don't wanna be Elora Danan.

I just wanna go home.

(SNIFFLES)

Well, tough.

You're afraid.

So am I.

But you know what?

My fear, it doesn't get to decide.

It doesn't get to, to define me.

I'm not giving it the power.

I'm giving it to you.

I have never believed in
anything my whole life.

- (SOBBING)
- I believe in you.

- I don't know... I don't know what to do.
- Yes, you do.

We both do.

BOORMAN: Look around.

It's over. There is
nowhere to go but back.

(PANTING)

- You ready?
- Yes.

KIT: We'll do it together.

(SOMBER MUSIC PLAYING)

(SPLASHES)

(COUGHING)

(PANTING)

- My lady?
- (PANTING)

(OMINOUS MUSIC PLAYING)

(WIND WHISTLING)

Ominous.

Very.

(THUDDING IN DISTANCE)

- (DOOR SCRAPING)
- (DOOR THUDS)

(ROCK MUSIC PLAYING)
