05x05 - Episode 5

Post by bunniefuu »

After returning to Italy, Davide, an ex

-policeman who years before miraculously survived the att*ck in which the five other members of his police squad were k*lled, infiltrates the family of Baron Linori.

As a result, he meets Judge Silvia Conti, who was transferred to Sicily to investigate the assassination of Captain Catanni.

The deaths of the Baron, his son and his grandson Ninni, make Silvia and Davide realize that the Linoris and Andrea, who is now the only surviving member of the family, are in the middle of a w*r without borders for the control of the consortium SicilTeknoPlus which Andrea is President of.

Unbeknownst to Andrea, he is being used by many people: Tano Cariddi, Antonio Espinosa and Ricardo Respighi, an ex

-politician who is about to make an unsrupulous return to the limelight.

In the meantime, Davide, Silvia, Trevi and Quadri fly to Germany and then to Luxemburg to investigate the complex financial moves schemed up by Espinosa.

In Sicily, Stefano and Marta are captured by Andrea Linori, who has discovered that Davide was a spy.

In this way, Stefano, who though his father was a criminal, discoveres the truth about his father.

In the meantime, Espinosa has been told by Respighi that a Commission Inquiry is about to prevent their plan from going ahead, and he decides to deliver a fatal blow, by making Tano, with the help of his younger sister, place a b*mb in the station.

Menawhile in Luxemburg, Silvia and Davide find a microfilm that brings them just one step away from the answer to all of their unsolved riddles: Who organized the firts big shipment of dr*gs into Italy, all those years ago? Who was really behind the death of Captain Cattani? And who was it that ordered the m*rder of Davide's police squad all those years ago, causing him to live a tragic life in exile as fugitive? The Octopus 5 The Hearth of the Problem Part 5 Trevi says he might be able to enlarge the film stills.

I would prefer that he do it instead of lab, I want to see my son first.

I'll catch up with you later at Trevi's place.

I don't want you to go off alone.

Take Quadri with you.

I've been off on my own for a long time, you know.

Be careful.

There's no use looking for your son.

He's been sick for a couple of days, and hasn't been to work.

What's happened to him? Get in, we'll pay him a visit.

His mother was worried about him, so we took her to see him.

Get in, they are both waiting for you.

The bloodshed took only a few seconds.

An unknown k*ller sh*t one sole b*llet with a r*fle.

Annibale Corvo collapsed dead on the church grounds.

At first, people panicked.

The wedding guests of the victim's son fled every which way to find shelter.

Police investigations into the incident have so far been fruitless.

Don't come near me! Gloria.

It's me, Andrea.

You're not Andrea.

You've changed.

Andrea wouldn't have let Ninni die.

He would have protected him.

He would have protected him from this cursed world.

I didn't know, Gloria.

Andrea was not a m*rder*r.

He didn't have people k*lled like you do.

You've become like all the Linoris, like your father, like your brother.

You're all animals! If Ninni hadn't passed away, you would have made him like you too.

What do you want to do, Gloria? Do you want to k*ll me? Do you want to sh**t me? Okay, go ahead and do it.

No.

Not now I can't do it while you're looking at me.

I'll do it later.

I'll do it tonight while you're sleeping.

Or sometime tomorrow.

Who knows where I'll be tomorrow.

If you're going to do it, do it now.

I'm going off down this corridor.

sh**t me before I get to the other end.

Take him away.

Let's go.

Stefano! Stay calm, don't get upset.

Marta! What have you done to her? Nothing.

You know what women are like Slap them a few times and they pass out.

You know what you are? You're nobody.

You feel strong because you've got a g*n in your hand.

People like you are a dime a dozen.

Shut up, assh*le! Marta Say something! Davide! I'm sorry, I told them They wanted to k*ll Stefano.

Don't worry.

I'm here now.

I'm here now and I'll get you out of here.

Okay.

You didn't tell me that you had a wife or a son.

You never asked.

And there's a lot of other things about you I don't know, like who sent you.

Let them go.

Then I'll tell you anything you want to know.

I want you to tell me first.

You have to promise me that you'll let them go.

You can do whatever you want to me, they've got nothing to do with this.

Promise me.

Okay.

- I promise.

- Don't tell rhese assholes anything! They are pigs!

- Look what they've done!

- Be quiet.

Okay.

I'll tell you everything.

Start from the beginning.

In Luxemburg we worked out that the scheme you're involved in is like your father's Alcantara Port scheme many years ago.

And we worked out that the Waxman Bank is a kind of secret safe haven that was created to allow a large amount of capital to enter and leave without any kind of control.

Are you trying to tell me that the billions under the Respighi law are being used to finance international trafficking? You didn't know? Didn't you transfer the money to the bank? I thought I was freeing my family from Mafia control.

Who told you that? Tano? Yes.

It was him.

Well, he tricked you.

He used you.

And that's also the reason why Ninni was k*lled.

Tano led you into w*r, without you even realizing it.

Is that everything? Yes, that's everything.

Well, then you and I don't have anything left to say to one another.

You promised that you would let them go.

Did I? I promised? I don't remember promising anything You bastard! And what about you? When you started working for us, didn't you promise to be loyal to my father? To my family? Did you keep your promise? At least spare my son.

I saved yours for once.

I don't do favors for anyone anymore.

Not anymore k*ll all three of them.

You know, the student championships are in 3 months.

It's a shame I won't be there.

I could have won this year.

Are you good? I can run a hundred meters in eleven point two seconds Well, I'll have to come and see you.

Even though I'm not sure if I believe you I'll b*at everyone this time.

My coach says that you have to convince yourself to see something beyond the finish line and you have to go and get it.

But it has to be something important, something you want more than anything else in the world.

What do you want? To give you a hug.

You think that would work? Definitely.

Davide! Gloria! Stefano, get the keys from him.

Come on, Stefano, hurry.

Come on, you can do it.

Hurry! That's it.

Good work, Stefano! Did you her those sounds before? What were they? They sounded like sh*ts They were poachers, out towards the sea.

You know what, mom? Sometimes when I was small I used to dream about kidnapping you, taking you away from dad, escaping somewhere with you, as though we were two thieves.

You're starting to go gray.

Do you know that? At school we were told a story abot a queen whose hair went entirely grey in one night.

She knew that the next day she would be ex*cuted.

Don't you worry, Stefano will take you to hospital now.

Okay.

Don't worry, it's all over now.

Go that way, there's dirt road.

At the end of it, there's a rusty gate.

Plough through it with the car.

Go, Stefano.

I won't leave you here alone.

We don't have time to talk about this.

You have to think about her.

Do what I tell you! No.

I won't leave until you tell me where I can find you.

Okay.

I'm staying with a friend in Tito Omboni Street.

I'll meet you there.

Now get out of here.

Davide.

- What about you?

- Marta I have to leave soon.

Where are you going? To sort out some unfinished business of Dad's.

Don't go, Andrea.

Stay here with me.

You're different from your father and Mimmo.

No I'm not, Mom.

I'm like them.

You should leave here.

You should go back to America, you should look after your wife.

It's too late for that.

I wanted to leave a long time ago, I wanted to take you and Mimmo away with me to France.

You were both so little then.

But I loved your father too much, to much and I didn't do it.

So what's happened is partly my fault, party caused by my own weakness.

You were so young, you couldn't have known what was happening.

No, I knew everything.

But I married your father against my parents' wishes, I left my home and region for him, I left my home and region for him, so leaving would have been like admitting I was wrong.

Don't leave me alone, Andrea, Don't you leave me as well.

What is he doing? Something must have happened to him.

I shouldn't have let him go.

Come here, it's starting to develop.

It was sh*t with a long lens.

There were four people there.

This one has his back always turned, he only turns around in the last two meters of the film, which is very damaged.

We know this guy: He is Giovanni Linori.

And this Asian man must be some sort of big

-wig.

We should check in the criminal archives for him.

Look at the diamond clip on his tie! And what about the fourth guy? We might be able to see him if I maximize the exposure Andrea, it would be better for me to go in instead of you.

Thanks For everything that you have done for my family.

But this is something I have to do for myself.

Give me your g*n.

What are you doing here? We weren't supposed to meet for the time being.

I came to say goodbye to you.

Why? Have you decided to go away somewhere? Put that g*n away, don't do something stupid.

Don't act like some two

-bit criminal.

You are one of the richest men in Europe, and with my help.

In a few months, you will have something in the region of a billion in your LA bank account.

Your dedication is moving.

All this effort to make the Linori family richer! Not exactly I was going to say that I had planned to take 20 percent of the profits from the deal.

Be quiet! I know everything now.

Don't move and don't make any noise.

Who is up there?

- A friend.

- Who? Tano.

You are about to do something very stupid.

Perhaps, but you know what? I can't stand the thought of you being able to still walk and talk and mix with others.

Come with me.

You don't belong here.

You belong in hell.

This is hell, there is no other.

You are about to discover that isn't true.

What's going on, Tano? Have they come back? Who is he? Is he one of the mean kids that used to make me cry? Is he one of those kids that used to suffocate me, in the fountain downstairs? Come on, let's get out of here! Hurry, let's go! Come on, get moving.

And no funny business.

I am too old for this.

Too stupid for this.

Too useless for this.

Frigeri Airport, November 10th.

That's today! What does this mean? What's going to happen today at Frigeri Airport? I don't know.

Come on.

There is no use for you here.

Let's go.

Mr.

Respighi! What do you have to say abot what happened to Annibale Corvo? I'll only say one thing, I don't intend to ignore any question that I've been asked.

But before we leave this Earth, which is so dear to us, let me express, aside from my personal considerations on the crime, which profoundly wounded my heart and my daughter's heart allow me to express my deepest concern for all that happened.

We now live in a state of fear, tragedies like today's have become commonplace, the w*r for power and money heas become intolerable.

My only hope is that the pendulum has swung to its most extreme hour, and that from now the v*olence will start to abate.

It's for this reason, that I have abandoned my previous reservations, and decided to return to politics, to take personal control of the Respighi law.

People from all walks of life have asked me to do this, and after a long personal struggle, I've realized that it is my political and moral duty.

How may I help you? There should be booking for Linori, on the next flifght to New York.

We have a booking for you, but it is for next week.

Would you like two spots on the plane for today instead? No.

Please cancel one spot.

I'm going alone.

Ninni is staying here.

It'll be ready in just a moment.

This is my last try.

I can't make it any bigger than this, it would become too grainy.

It's Davide.

Look after him for me.

Davide I was worried about you.

What happened? Andrea Linori is dead.

Tano k*lled him.

Come quickly! It's starting to develop.

Take a look, it's clearer now.

Espinosa! Who's he? A man without a soul.

Espinosa, Linori and an Asian man together a long time ago.

Can you do the same to this one? No, I can't.

They wouldn't even be able to do it at the lab.

There is no emulsion left on the negatives.

Have a look at this, I found it at Tano's place.

Frigeri Airport, November 10th.

That's today, but I don't know what it means.

Frigeri is an old abandoned airport.

There's only a couple of airstrips there.

We deserve a little snack, don't we? You are always eating.

How come you never put on weight? Something to do with my thyroid.

The doctor says that I could eat half an ox, and I'd still weight 65 kilos.

All I remember is that while I was speaking, he was smiling he was smiling When Linori put the three million that he had promised me in my hand, he gave me 200 thousand lira more, to pay for the boy I had known since childhood who was just sh*t in the heart.

And I remember that he was dressed like an old

-fashioned noble.

His hair was feathery, he wore a silk shirt with gold cufflinks, and he had a triangle of diamonds above the cufflinks.

Davide, where are you going? Tell Quadri to leave the cellphone in the car.

I'll be in touch.

I took Mom to hospital.

She's doing well.

I wanted to Well done.

I have to go now.

I'll come and find you later.

Wait! Where are you going? Get out of here.

I told you I have to go! You can't leave now.

I'll come with you, we've got to talk.

Listen, do what I say I said I was coming with you.

If that doesn't suit you, too bad! Okay, Stefano.

Come on, get in the car.

For 7:00 pm.

I'm sorry, madam, there was nothing we could do His body is here at the hospital.

We'll send a car to pick you up soon, You'll have to Madam? Hello? Look, Ninni, this is Grandma's house.

Can the horse come with us to America? No, the horse has always lived here, In America he would be homesick and sad.

He'll wait dor you here.

And you, Grandma, will you come with us to America? They were k*lling us and you were watching then Mom came onto the porch and confronted you, she yelled something at you that I've never understood.

She held us and yelled that you had to leave at least one of us to her.

You're different from your father and Mimmo.

No, Mom, I'm like them.

Look, Dad, I can do it! Look what I found with Mom, it sparkles, Mom says that the sun is inside it.

The express train from Catania has arrived on platform one.

Do you remember what I told you? Off you go then.

And come back quickly, okay? What a cool car.

What kind is yours? I don't know.

What's yours? It's a Ferrari, can't you tell? It's red and has racing wheels.

- That's cool.

- Yeah, it is.

Do you like mine? No way! Come on, let's have a race.

- Did you leave it where I told you to?

- Yes.

The ice

-cream man gave this to me.

But you didn't have any money.

I know, but I didn't need any.

He gave it to me.

People are kind.

Yes, people are kind.

Alpha

- Beta calling Sierra.

Check flights.

The two helicopters have come from central Africa, via Malta.

They are in Italy to get help from the Solidarity Fund.

Border control has confirmed that a request to land was made a couple of days ago: Permission was granted.

By this time they should have already arrived at Santa Maria Airport, No stops was planned for Frigeri Airport.

Let's go.

Alpha

-Beta calling Biga.

Commmence the operation now.

Land your vehicles! You are surrounded! There's no point in trying to escape.

All escape routes have been blocked.

The entire region is covered.

There's nowere to hide.

Avoid senseless bloodshed.

Be careful, they're trying to leave! Land your vehicles! Alpha

-Beta calling Sierra.

Follow them.

What is it? Heroin.

About how much is there? It's a huge shipment.

I've never seen anything like it.

Open this up.

Missiles.

These were in one of the cars.

Open them up.

- Aha!

- What is it? The twenty billion paid out under the Respighi law.

First they transfered it to the Waxman Bank in Luxemburg, avoiding all checks, they then got it out through these: shares, titles to various things, international bonds.

What are you trying to say? It was being used to buy this refined African heroin, courtesy of the Italian government.

And what about the arms? A surcharge, perhaps, or a gift to the African country, or the payment might have been half in arms.

But who could have organized this? I don't know Why should I tell you? Because the Linori family is no more.

And if Giovanni Linori organized this whole thing It wasn't him.

Haven't you got it yet? He didn't want to be involved.

Nor did Mimmo or Andrea.

That's why they were all k*lled.

Even Ninni, who didn't know anything aboit money or dr*gs.

Then who was it that started the whole thing? Tano Cariddi? Was it Tano? He betrayed Andrea, didn't he? I feel like one of those dogs whose owners have gone away.

Who is left alone to howl at the moon, while the crows circle above, waiting for it to die in pain.

What do you want from me? Leave me alone You'll spend the rest of your life in prison, you know? Who is going to pay them back for Ninni's death? I can do it for you.

You? You work for the government.

The government doesn't pursue vendettas.

I can even things up, though.

I can destroy the people who destroyed them.

But you have to tell me who it was.

Is Tano Cariddi responsible for all of this? He is.

But not just him Who else is involved? The man from the photo, Antonio Espinosa.

We don't know where he is.

Do you? At the port.

At the new pier.

Aren't you coming? No.

This last stage is all yours.

You deserve it.

Leave the cellfone in the car.

Davide will call soon.

Follow us to the port.

- Hello?

- It's Davide.

We've got some news.

Okay.

I'll be there soon.

Take a seat.

I've always known that you're exceptionally stubborn.

To what do I owe this pleasure? We've just intercepted two helicopters, stopped an enormous shipment of heroin, and recuperated twenty billion.

What do you have to say about all that? I don't know what you're talking about.

Tano Cariddi organized it.

If you're looking for him, he's not here.

I don't hide criminals.

You met him here on this ship a couple of days ago.

So I did.

He came here.

Do you want me to give you a list of everyone who comes and asks favors from me? The list of politicians, businessmen, bureaucrats who come to see me? What attracts them to you? My ties, my friends, all the things I know that no one else does.

TanoCarridi came here and I showed him the door.

Just try and prove that our meeting was something more.

Your coldness makes me sick! Your passion makes me sick.

All of the human warmth that surrounds you the loyalty of your men, the respect of people.

You're like a schoolgirl who is throwing herself in the deep end.

You're destined to failure.

You want to arrest me? On what basis? Because a couple of people have said bad things about me? What proof do you have? Perhaps you have found a way to blame me for Captain Cattani's death.

How can you be so stupid? If you want to know the truth, Cattani was a victim of terrible bad luck: he got himself caught up in a machine that crushed him.

Perhaps you were the person controlling that machine.

Can you prove it? Haven't you got it yet? I control the seedy underbelly of this country.

I keep the hands of the powerful clean.

You can't touch me.

Believe me, there's not a judge in the whole world that can put me away.

Who is that man? What is he doing? Tell me what are you trying to do.

What does this priest have to do with this? That voice I remember that voice Who are you? What do you want? That night, you had old

-fashioned hair Don't you remember? There was a big party.

I've never seen you before, I don't know who you are.

People were dancing downstairs in the room full of mirrors.

They were laughing.

You were laughing too, while you and Baron Linori paid me for the lives of the four policeman and three shepards that I had sent off to heaven.

And your diamonds and gold shone in the shadows while you denied God.

For so many years I have been locked in darkness with your voice.

It made me crazy.

It ate me up inside bit by bit.

Congratulations, Judge.

What a beautiful scene but it will amount to nothing.

You see, time is my greatest ally.

Who's going to believe the mad ravings of an old monk? I'll put you in prison for life.

I bet you that after these colck hands have rotated for 365 days from tuday O will be out of the prison cell in which you so desire to lock me up in forever.

- Stop it!

- You bastard! I've waited twenty years to meet you.

Let him go! Stop it! Do you hear me? I'm waiting for you with this.

Let him go, Davide! You're scared, aren't you? If you get out in a year, I'll be waiting for you with this, Then you'll be done forever.

Stop him.

Get him out of here.

Maria Do you remember where you left the briefcase? Remember what I told you.

Take this.

You mustn't loose it.

Do you understand? It's very important.

You mustn't lose it under any circumstance.

Where are you going? Why can't you stay with me? Lesten, Maria, I would love to, but I can't.

Why not? Here it is.

Take this, it's for the taxi.

He knows where to take you.

- See you tomorrow?

- Yes, tomorrow.

Go as quickly as you can.

What's your name? I'm Franco.

I want to get out, Franco.

But that man told me that I have to look after you.

It's sunny.

There used to be lightning and storms, but now it's sunny.

Do you like the sun? Listen, I promised that man that I would look after you.

He's my brother.

He's a good man He's always thinking of me, but he doesn't let me go outside.

My parents didn't let me out of the house either Does that seem right to you? I don't know.

Here you go.

Miss, that's too much It's beautiful, take a look at it.

Where are you going? Hold on a minute! Hello.

Hello.

Do you want it? Take a look, it's beautiful and cheap.

Is this yours? It fell on the ground.

- Thank you.

- You are wellcome.

My name is Maria.

You should be more careful.

Maria.

Bye.

What about this one? It's true.

I should be more careful.

- Okay.

- Excuse me.

She's over there, do you see her? Miss? Miss? Do you feel okay? I'm I'm I'm fine.

It's sunny here.

Are you afraid of losing that envelope? Why are you clutching it so tightly? It's for someone very important.

Her name is here.

Really? Can I see it? No.

I promissed I wouldn't show it to anyone.

I have to give it to the woman Let me look at it for just a moment.

I can't.

I have to Please.

I think it would be best if you told me everything, from start to finish.

Excuse me.

This is Come in.

Maria Tano told me to give this to you.

I am leaving Italy forever.

I promise that no one will hear anything about me again.

I'm leaving Maria with you, she's the best person in the world, the only person who has ever loved me unconditionally.

Please find appropriate accomodation for her.

Don't put her in one of those horrible institutions that people like her waste away in.

Find a family for her.

I trust you to do the right thing.

In exchange I give you some information that I want you to take to be completely true: At 7:00 pm sharp, in the waiting room of Centarl Station, a hugely powerful b*mb will go off.

I hope that you will be able to avoid the loss of innocent lives.

Calling all cars: Go to Central Station, there's been a b*mb alert.

Attention: Follow emergency procedures.

Do not create a panic.

I repeat: avod panicking the public.

Clear the public from the station in an orderly fashion.

Isolate all areas of the station and prevent vehicle access.

Get everyone out.

Everybody out, please.

Please move, take your bags and please get out.

Clear out, please.

We've only got three minutes left.

- What can we do?

- In a moment it'll all go up.

There's a b*mb, there's a b*mb! Get out! There it is.

Wait.

Don't touch it.

Get out of here.

We've got to get it away from people.

Davide, no! Attention: Please stay calm.

Don't panic.

Get out of the way! Get out of the way! Help me! Let us through! Where are you going? Are you crazy? Get back there! He's my father.

You can't do anything, you understand? Dad! Get rid of it! Dad! Throw it! Davide! Dad!

- Give it to me!

- No, Stefano! Take it far away from everyone! Throw it in the water! Stefano, throw it in the water! Stefano! Show me your hundred meters in eleven point two Stefano, don't hurt yourself! Come on! Throw it! Throw it now! Stefano I did it! I did it! Do you believe me now? Hold me, hold me Hold me so tight it hurts.

Do you want me to do the seagull? Or would you prefer me to do the squirrel? I'll do the squirrel.

I know it's your favorite.

It'll make you smile.

I like it when you smile, Tano.
