01x08 - Prison Break

Post by bunniefuu »

Jess, you're wanted for
Peter Sadusky's m*rder.

- But I have her confession on tape.
- It's a fake.

ETHAN: The right word here is "farther."

But that's not what the fake
Jess on your fake tape said.

Do hope your next lead doesn't take
you even further away from home.

ETHAN: Liam's not the bad
guy we thought he was.

I should have known Billie framed him.

MATTY: All these people
are here to see you play.

(MIC FEEDBACK)

LIAM: You helped her
throw me in the river.

No, no, I... I saved you.

TASHA: But, Jess, if you cross
the border, you can't come back.

Valenzuela's guilty. We need
to get her off the street.

You're the only chance
I have to save Jess.

JESS: Salazar knows
where that relic is.

He's not gonna want Billie
to find the treasure either.

I'm Rafael. Your dad.

Dad?

Look, I went to the well in Viesca.

The lapis lazuli's relic was missing.

RAFAEL: I've had years to
figure out where it was hidden.

JESS: "The place where
the first Queen of Spain

and Saint Jerome met and passed notes."

TASHA: Like, musical notes.

JESS: Aztec, Incan, and Mayan.

ETHAN: We finally
have all three of them.

JESS: It's like it's written in code.

Your dad probably knows
how to read that map.

Well, look who came back from the dead.

If Billie figures out
it's my father in there,

she's gonna find a
way to get him k*lled.

I'm gonna break my father out of prison.

(OMINOUS MUSIC)

Billie.

I knew I wasn't gonna
find the real Salazar here.

But I had no idea I would
find my brother's k*ller.

What?

No.

No. Is that what Salazar told you?

Well, of course, that's
what Salazar told you.

I didn't k*ll Sebastian.

Salazar did.

You lied your way
into our group, Rafael.

You betrayed us.

Are you expecting me to believe you now?

You have to believe me.

Your brother was pinned under
rubble, begging for his life.

And Salazar stood over
him, called him a liability.

- And then he sh*t him.
- Enough...

of your stories, Rafael.

Stick to the facts.

You robbed that bank in Viesca
under the name of Salazar,

and you were arrested.

And now,

your daughter has two of the relics.

She has two?

And I'm guessing either you found
the third relic in that well,

or you know where it is.

Either way, your
daughter's going after it.

Tell me where it is...

and I'll spare your daughter.

Well, you can't get to her.

She's long gone.

Oh, we'll see about that.

You're about to find out how it
feels to lose the person you love...

more than anything else in the world.

(SUSPENSEFUL MUSIC)

(INDISTINCT CHATTER)

OREN: Jess, I know he's your dad,
but breaking him out of prison?

That's insane.

He's the only family I've got.

If I don't break him out,
Billie's going to k*ll him.

Okay, so let's go to the Federales.

The Federales? What
are they supposed to do?

And what do we tell them? That
a prisoner is gonna get k*lled?

Do you honestly think they'd care?

TASHA: Plus, we have no proof.

Okay, so you do realize
what you're saying, right?

OREN: Breaking into a prison in Mexico.

This isn't an escape
room, this is real life.

OREN: Dude, come on, back me up on this.

Tell her she can't do this.

(SUSPENSEFUL MUSIC)

(SIGHS)

Oren's right.

That's why I'm not asking
any of you to do this.

You don't have to.

I'm in.

- What?
- And I'm in too.

What?

Oren, Jess is gonna do this either
way, whether we help her or not.

Out of all people, I did not realize

I would be the voice of reason here.

(SCOFFS)

You guys realize that this
is a next-level felony, right?

- I am begging you not to do this.
- I have to.

(SIGHS)

(CLICKS TONGUE) Okay. Well...

I'm not just gonna sit around
and watch my best friends

make the biggest mistake of their lives.

JESS: You're right.

I think you should go home.

Because if we get caught...

they'll think you're an accessory.

Yeah.

If something happens to us,

we're gonna need someone stateside
fighting for our extradition.

(THRILLING MUSIC)

(FAINT MUSIC PLAYING)

- Trackers.
- MYLES: Mm-hm.

Billie tracks everyone.

Even people that work for her.

She was tracking your grandfather
with his SIM chip, too.

But I thought that was your job.

Yeah, she doesn't take any chances.

She's had her eyes on him for ten years

while they were trying to
finish the treasure hunt.

Were you there when
Billie k*lled my grandpa?

I had the night off.

No witnesses.

Okay, so...

what's the plan?

How do we find Jess?

Okay, we gotta get one of the
phones from Billie's security team.

That'll give us access
to Billie's trackers.

And it'll show us where Jess is.

And how are we supposed to find
the security person's phone?

That...

that's where you come in.

(CLINKS)

(INDISTINCT CHATTER)

TASHA: So in ,

the prison was upgraded from the
old podular-direct building design

to podular-remote model.

Upgraded surveillances and
less direct interactions

between the inmates and guards.

- Sounds sophisticated.
- TASHA: Yeah, well, not for us.

High tech has more
exploits than low tech.

Can you shut the power
off to the building?

And I mean everything.
No lights, no locks,

- none of the security cams?
- Mm-mm.

TASHA: The generators will just kick in.

But what about the cell locks?
Can you open all of them up?

Let all the prisoners out.

Start a riot. We can get
your dad out in the chaos.

ETHAN: Like in
the Mission: Impossible movie.

TASHA: It's a great idea, but...

all of the cells are manually locked.

(PHONE DINGS)

- (ETHAN GROANS)
- My taxi's here.

OREN: Here's the keys to my van.

- You gotta...
- Pump the brakes twice.

I know.

And do me a favor?

- Don't turn this on until you...
- Cross the border.

Yes.

You be careful, okay?

You know me better than that.

(SIGHS DEEPLY)

I hope you guys pull this off
and get back to Baton Rouge.

Thanks, Oren.

(OREN EXHALES SHARPLY)

(SIGHS)

You know, I was thinking. (SMACKS LIPS)

In Katrina, when the prisons
flooded, it led to prison reform.

Now a flood leads right into
a*t*matic drainage ducts.

America finally caught up to
the international standard.

Feels very relevant now.

Well, good luck.

Katrina?

What is he talking about?

He just told us how to
break into the prison.

Why don't you let me do this?

I mean, if you get caught,

the consequences are a lot worse
for you than they are for me.

I'm an American citizen.

I have the American
government behind me.

You don't.

It's my dad.

My problem.

But seriously, Ethan.

Thanks for being here.

No, thank you.

You learn a lot more about the law
when you're actually breaking it.

(CHUCKLES)

TASHA: My algorithm's working, y'all.

Check out this beauty.

I repurposed it from
a piece of ransomware.

Great, but I didn't think the plan
was to take the prison hostage.

It was developed by pirates

to stop oil from running
through American pipelines.

But with a little
tweak in the parameters,

I can disrupt the water
run-off system instead.

There's a culvert off the
road outside the prison

that'll lead you to
the main water run-off.

Then I will run my algorithm

and the system will react
to what it thinks is a flood.

The water levels will go down
and you have ten minutes to get in

and get your dad out.

- (GRUNTS)
- (THUDS, CREAKS)

ETHAN: What happens after ten minutes?

TASHA: The whole thing refills.

software application

used to pinpoint the
topographic position on the land

based on the stars in the sky.

Oh, yeah, of course.

An app.

- (BEEPS)
- (JESS SIGHS)

It's saying it needs
more reference points.

Why is that star so different?

RAFAEL: Because it's not a star.

It's a planet.

Venus.

Quetzalcoatl was associated with Venus.

"God of the Morning Star."

It was essential for the Daughters
of the Plumed Serpent to navigate.

It's the brightest thing in the
sky besides the sun and the moon.

(JESS CHUCKLES)

It's pointing to a place
called the Devil's Swamp,

off the Mississippi River.

It's only miles outside
of Vicksburg, Mississippi.

Of course, the Daughters
took it up to Mississippi

before the Spanish even
knew that the river existed.

Where in the Devil's Swamp?

Swamps are pretty big.

Don't worry. When we get there...

(ENGINE RUMBLING)

JESS: Is that your friend?

Jessita. Get the map.

I know him.

- What?
- He att*cked me.

He stole all of Sadusky's clues.

- I'm not here to hurt you.
- You work for Salazar.

No, I don't.

Salazar's who I'm trying to stop.

- Wait, you know where Salazar is?
- Yeah. No.

I mean, he's everywhere all the time.

It's not just one man.

BEARDED MAN: The name
Salazar is a mantle.

The leader of a group of
treasure hunters over time,

dating back to ancient Egypt.

You need to stop
searching for the treasure.

- You're gonna lead them right to it.
- He's lying.

You need to believe me.

Look, I, I came all this way to stop...

(g*nsh*t)

Oh, my god!

(SNICKERS)

(TENSE MUSIC)

- Jessita, we have to go.
- We have to help him!

We can't, he's dead!

- Here, take the map. Go, now!
- No, what about you?

I don't matter! Go!

(THRILLING MUSIC)

(PANTING)

- RAFAEL: Hey, hey, hey. Hey!
- BILLIE: Move.

(PANTING)

- (COCKS g*n)
- Jess?

Valenzuela!

BILLIE: I have your father here.

So you have two choices.

Come out with that treasure map.

Or live with your father's
blood on your hands.

Jessita, no! The treasure
is more important.

You have to run. (PAINED GROAN)

BILLIE: You think you got out
of that prison by yourself, Jess?

Nope.

BILLIE: I paid off a
guard to turn a blind eye.

And that mysterious g*nsh*t
that took out that sn*per?

BILLIE: Well, that was Kacey.

I put a tracker in your father's
shoe and I heard everything.

I know about the Devil's Swamp.

So you have to know by now,
I'm always one step ahead.

(FOREBODING MUSIC)

No, no, no, no.

No, no, no, no.

(FRUSTRATED SIGH)

Good girl.

(DRAMATIC MUSIC)

(CLOSING THEME MUSIC)
