07x03 - Do You Need Some Mouth-to-Mouth Resuscitation?

- [Phil] Previously on "The Amazing Race."

- Okay. - We're off.

- [Phil] teams set out from Cusco, Peru

and raced , miles to Santiago, Chile,

Debbie and Bianca confronted Rob and Amber about lying.

- Makes me nauseous to have to deal with that kind of stuff.

- It makes me nauseous to have to have you call me a liar.

- [Phil] But Rob fought back.

- And not in the back.

- [Phil] Bribing the bus driver to not open the rear door.

- Perfecto - And delaying teams

in the back of the bus.

- Oh, now you open it. - Real freaking cool.

[woman screams]

- [Phil] On the detour, Meredith and Gretchen

were light on cash.

- Oh please, we don't have any money.

- [Phil] While Lynn and Alex's fish was simply too light.

- Not exactly-- - We just weighed it,

they just weighed it.

[merchant speaks in Spanish]

- [Phil] And when they confronted the merchant,

- Your scale's rigged, we want our money back.

- [Phil] They were met with a defiant mob.

- [Phil] Rob and Amber we're first to arrive.

- You're team number one. [pair cheers]

- And in the end, - Look who's behind us.

- Oh my God. - Go, go, go, go, andale.

- Let's go. - We're running.

- [Phil] It was a foot race to the finish.

- Go, go, go, go, go, go.

- Let's go, let's go.

- [Phil] With Brian and Greg, - Team number nine.

- Yes!

- [Phil] Barely b*ating out their allies.

- Megan and Heidi, you've both been

eliminated from the race.

- [Phil] Now nine teams remain, who will be eliminated next?

[dramatic theme music]

[tense music]

This is Santiago, the capital city of Chile.

Nestled near the Andean foothills at the center of town,

this forested hill known as Cerro Santa Lucia.

This was the second pit stop in a race around the world.

Teams arrived here at the end of the last leg

for a mandatory rest period.

The nine teams waiting here

have no idea what's in store for them.

After moving up in the pack, can Uchenna and Joyce

maintain their newfound momentum?

And after falling behind will Susan and Patrick be able

to move to the front of the pack once again?

Rob and Amber, who were the first to arrive,

[pair cheers]

will depart at : AM.

- Drive yourselves through the Andes Mountains.

- [Phil] Teams must drive themselves more than miles

to Argentina and find this bridge known as Puente Viejo.

It is here that teams will find their next clue.

- Caution, yield ahead, let's go quick.

Your cars are marked and parked at Bulnes Car Park.

Amber and I definitely have luck on our side,

but we've been taking a lot of chances.

Without taking chances, you really can't have any luck.

You know that thing, the American dream,

Amber and I are living it.

Can you show me?

Okay, come on.

We're lucky to meet nice people, you know that.

- Yeah. [dramatic music]

Argentina, all right, let's go.

- I'm not sure at this point if I wanna marry Kelly or not.

She rushes a little bit too much.

I'm not just about getting married

and having kids right away.

- Taxi.

- Tell him something, Kelly. - Rapido.

- Drive yourself through the Andes Mountains.

- Andes Mountains to Puente Viejo to find your next clue.

Let's go. - We gotta go this way.

- This way, come on, babe.

- Wait we don't, yeah but.

- This way.

- Ray tunes me out every once in a while

and that kind of gets a little bit irritating.

He needs to start communicating with me more.

You always ignore me, I'm sick of it.

- Start asserting yourself.

She wants to have me usher her through every situation.

I think she needs to step up and do it herself.

We just don't wanna make any dumb mistakes.

[tense music]

- Drive yourselves through the Andes Mountains

to find Puente Viejo.

Okay, let's go.

- [Uchenna] We've had some tumultuous times

with failed pregnancies.

Joyce and I have a goal to figure out what's going on

with our relationship and get the wheels back on it.

- Do you know where the Bulnes Car Park is?

- And we're having fun doing it, which is awesome.

Yeah, we got it, it'll be fine.

[tense music]

- Drive yourselves through the Andes Mountains,

oh my God, to Argentina.

- Caution, you only have, awesome.

- All right, let's go.

Alex and I wanna win and we want to b*at Rob and Amber.

We just don't really like them.

- And we don't want 'em here.

- Muy, muy rapido, por favor.

[dramatic music]

- Okay. - You have $

for the second leg. - There it is, $.

- Let's go, we're going to Argentina.

[contestant speaks in Spanish]

- Debbie and I have been friends

since we were six years old.

So we have just become stronger and stronger.

We are competitive and sheer determination

will get us through this race.

[dramatic music]

- [Meredith] There's no money.

- Shush, just read it.

- Drive yourselves through the Andes.

- Does it say taxi on it?

I verbalize my emotions.

I have a hard time keeping things to myself.

Meredith understands me now.

I love him to death and I make it up to him

in a lot of other ways.

- Paseo Bulnes

[tense music]

- Drive yourself through the Andes Mountains.

- Cool. - Hey, let's go.

- [Susan] The one thing for Patrick that I want

is for him to be happy.

I think he needs a boyfriend in his life.

- Muy rapido, por favor.

- My mom wishes that there was somebody

that was keeping track of me

like she would like to keep track of me, I think.

- Starting in last place for "The Amazing Race,"

six foot three, six foot four Smith brothers.

- Money.

- Let's go.

We had a little taste of what elimination might taste like

the prior leg.

- Taxi. - Taxi.

- So Greg and I decided we do not wanna be that close again.

- Don't don't get mad at me

when I don't know where I'm going

when you ask me where I'm going,

'cause I'm the navigator. - Let's figure it out.

- We're driving ourselves to Argentina.

- Argentina?

[Rob speaks in Spanish]

- It's underground parking, I guess.

Argh, five in the morning.

Thank you very much.

You wanna go back to the hotel, we got a couple hours,

let's go k*ll it. - Okay.

- Gracias, senor.

- Five o'clock hours.

- You wanna walk around for a minute?

[dramatic music]

- It's locked.

- Hours, wait, wait, wait, hours.

- I don't know what our choice is gonna be,

but to stay here and wait until they open up.

[dramatic music]

[contestant speaks in Spanish]

- Bulnes Car Park.

It's open five to .

So we're gonna go to the hotel, we're gonna get directions.

Our guy is gonna wait for us and then bring us back.

- Senor, Bulnes Car Park.

You see 'em down here?

- Good morning.

- Paseo Bulnes.

- Okay, we need our bags.

- [Patrick] Paseo Bulnes.

All right, that works.

Gracias.

- Is that them up there?

- It's not open yet.

[dramatic music]

- Bulnes? - Si.

- We gotta go. - All right, let's go.

- It's not opened yet, we're all gonna camp out.

[contestant speaks in Spanish]

[tense music]

[Rob yawns]

- I fell asleep. - I was snoring.

- Okay, so we're gonna pass.

[driver speaks in Spanish]

- Oh no. It's okay.

We'll take 'em

- So we're gonna pretty much just go

straight up that street.

- We're gonna go with you, [speaks Spanish].

[pair converse in Spanish]

[tense music]

Open it up.

Hop in, honey.

Okay [speaks Spanish].

That'll teach 'em for accusing somebody of lying.

- See our cab driver down there?

Debbie, do you see a cab?

- No. - This is Ret*rded.

- [Debbie] Now we gotta catch another cab.

- We stole a cab.

- That worked out good, huh?

- It's till, we got minutes to spare.

- Rapido.

- Congratulations. - Thanks, man.

- This sucks.

[dramatic music]

- [Speaker] Oh, there we go.

Come on.

[tense music]

- Go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, come on.

- Let's go, let's go, let's go.

[tense music continues]

- Right now We're looking for Norte Sur.

- Let me ask the police.

Senor.

Can you drive and show me?

The best way to get directions in Santiago,

get a police escort.

Al Norte. - There you go.

- We just got on the Norte, which is the main highway

that we need to be on.

- Should I get on the highway, honey?

- Get on the highway. - Okay.

You see that sign right there?

- Yes. - It says to the north.

- Al Norte!

We're going somewhere.

- [Kelly] North, good job.

- Great.

- We just found it.

See, see, here you go.

Okay.

- I don't know who's in front there,

but stick with them and we'll see where we're going.

[dramatic music]

- Where are we? - Let's ask directions.

- Okay.

Cinco Norte.

- Does he have a map? - Mom.

- Right onto Ragaya, and then a left of Alameda.

- Out of here we come out.

We go that way.

- Norte, perfect. - Okay, good, good,

good, good, good.

God, we're Ret*rded with directions.

- So bad.

- [Patrick] Yeah, so go left up here.

- Go left, but what are you telling me?

- I'm telling you we have to go that way.

- Oh, okay.

[dramatic music]

- Los Andes.

Should I take the exit to Los Andes?

- Yep. - And get off

El Norte now. - Yes.

- Los Andes is turning, Alex. - Make a right here.

- [Lynn] We're behind Rob and Amber.

- This takes us to Argentina country on mountains.

[dramatic music continues]

- [Deana] Are they turning?

- Stay on 'em, we're going the right way.

[dramatic music]

Make sure we're on five north, by the way,

just double, triple check.

- Cinco norte, si?

- Si. - Cinco Norte.

Good, I think we passed some kind of an exit or something.

- [Bianca] Debbie, I think we're okay.

I think we're just freaking out.

[upbeat music]

- We're zigzagging up the mountain, up the Andes

on our way to Argentina.

This is wild.

- The clue said that there was a yield coming up.

We get this weird, strange feeling that the other teams

kind of got it out for us.

- [Lynn] Everyone said the first chance they got,

they were gonna yield Amber and Rob.

So let's see if people have huevos around here.

[upbeat music]

- This elevation is ferocious.

- Easy, Meredith, I'm getting sick.

And this is real bumpy, take your time.

- I gotta watch the roads. - And contend with me.

- And contend with you on a full-time basis.

- The Argentina border.

[upbeat music continues]

- Okay, Alex, that was awesome.

- Welcome to the Republic of Argentina,

right up there on the sign.

- You're doing very well, honey.

[dramatic music]

- We need to find the way to get onto the north five.

It's : right now.

We've been wandering around now for an hour and minutes.

Oh, this is it, turn left here.

- It says no left turn. - Oh crap.

- [Susan] We need to figure out how to get out of town.

- We're so far behind.

I just hate not seeing an end in sight.

[dramatic music]

- Crap.

This is a no left turn.

Well, how do you do this then?

Mom, straight.

- So on the left here, then right.

Oh well. - Oh well.

Couldn't be any bigger.

All right, maybe things are taking a turn for the better.

[dramatic music]

- We haven't crossed the border yet

to go into Argentina.

[group speaks in Spanish]

It's okay, it's okay, okay.

- They're all stupid.

Not that we're doing much better with directions,

I'm just saying.

[upbeat music]

- I've never seen anything like this ever.

This is the most beautiful mountain range

I've ever seen in my life.

- Ah, this is exhilarating,

this is exhausting, there's nothing like it.

- Yes, sir, we're in the game, baby!

[peaceful music]

- Wow, this is incredible. - I know, it's amazing.

[peaceful music continues]

- [Kelly] When I think of heaven, this is what I think of.

[dramatic music]

- We're looking Puente Viejo.

- [Rob] Oh sh**t, I saw the route marker,

it's on that bridge.

- We have to go to the yield first.

- This is the first of only three yields

on the entire race.

At this specific spot, one team can force any other team

to yield, that is stop racing

for a predetermined amount of time.

Teams can exercise their yield power only once

during the course of the race.

So they need to decide when it's

in their best interest to use it.

Any team that's being forced to yield must turn

this hourglass upside down and wait for the sand

to run out before they continue on.

- We choose not to yield.

[dramatic music]

- Okay, detour, paddle or pedal.

- A detour is a choice between two tasks,

each with its own pros and cons.

In this detour, teams have to choose

between two adventurous activities

common in Argentina, paddle or pedal.

In paddle, teams must take an inflatable raft

and working with three professional rowers,

complete a seven-mile course down this river.

The current will propel them forward,

but navigating the river's twists and turns

could slow them down.

In pedal, each team member will choose

one of these mountain bikes and follow a seven-mile course

along these train tracks.

They'll have to rely on their own power

to navigate the rocky course.

But teams with strong legs could finish quickly.

- Raft, come on.

[dramatic music]

- Hmm. - Wait, Puente Viejo

to your right.

- Come on, here's the other team.

- Let's go, come on.

All right.

Let's not yield to anybody, it's too early in the game.

- River raft, - Let's take a river raft

- This looks so fun, all right, let's do it.

[dramatic music]

- Okay, come on.

- Up.

- [Group] Forward, forward.

- Go, go, go, go.

[tense music]

- Forward.

- Forward.

[tense music continues]

- My arm is dying.

- Come on, Alex.

Lean forward, lean back.

[dramatic music]

- The brothers. - They're right on our tail.

- We got Meredith and Gretchen directly in front of us.

- Going about eight kilometers per hour.

[dramatic music continues]

- They're passing us up.

- Found the route marker on the bridge.

See it, to the right.

- Follow the boys.

- Is it on the bridge? - It's on the bridge.

- You got my hat? - There they go.

- No yield. - We're too far in front.

Take a river raft or-- - Let's bike it.

- Let's bike it, man, let's do it.

- We have our yield and we choose not to use it.

Okay, we'll take the raft. - That'll be faster.

[dramatic music]

- Let's get it. - Let's get a grande size.

What do we got?

- Let's go.

- Man, it's windy out.

This is like when we were kids riding bikes.

- Woohoo!

- [Meredith] Paddle straight ahead.

[dramatic music]

- Oh my God [grunts].

Uh, [grunts].

- Rob and Amber, come on, Alex.

Lean forward, lean back.

- I hate them so much.

I was just so sick at that point of Rob and Amber

being in front of me, I had had it.

- Dude, we could get first place.

- And Lynn was saying to me, Alex,

we have to b*at the survivors and I'm all, okay.

- Okay, the other group's catching up to us.

- One, two.

- Come on!

Come on!

- One, two.

[tense music]

- Drive yourselves toward the city of Mendoza.

- [Phil] Teams must now drive themselves

close to miles to this traditional Argentine barbecue

taking place at Camping Suizo.

When teams arrive, they'll find their next clue.

- Let's go, baby.

- Gay boys took on the boy from Boston,

the girl from the island, and they lost.

- Drive yourselves toward the city of Mendoza.

- Good job. - Let's go.

- It was hard. - It was good exercise.

The whole entire time I just kept thinking,

you're getting in shape. you're getting in shape.

You're burning fat calories, you have to get married soon.

You have to fit into a dress, keep rowing.

[dramatic music]

- We choose to defer our yield.

- I say we do the rafting.

- We choose not to yield anybody.

- We choose not to yield.

- Paddle. - I'd say paddle, too, babe.

There's somebody just getting on a raft now, who's that?

- Ron and Kelly? - Ron and Kelly.

- Let's go, let's go. - Let's go, rapido, rapido.

[dramatic music]

- [Patrick] I wonder how high we are right now.

- [Susan] My ears have popped a couple of times.

- [Patrick] Yeah, mine too.

[dramatic music]

- Wow, look at the ocean. - Wow.

- Hmm, the key to the clue was go through the Andes.

This is absolutely gorgeous, but we got major problems.

- Are you serious?

- Yep, you gotta stop. - Oh my gosh, Debbie.

[group converses in Spanish]

- [gasps] What?

No.

We've gone two and a half hours past Santiago.

We're over here, we're off this map.

This is hell.

This is hell, yeah.

[dramatic music]

- The problem is we were supposed to be on the five

for like maybe minutes.

And we stayed on it for two hours.

- It's really frustrating.

- Start praying for flat tires or something.

- Feels like we've been going a while,

we're definitely over halfway.

- Hey, a flat tire.

- What, how bad?

- No, are you kidding me?

[dramatic music]

We gotta blow it up and everything too, B

- Do we have to patch it? . Hey, I think I can do it.

- It's gonna take it forever.

[dramatic music continues]

- Hey, look at this.

- They got a flat tire.

- There's Gretchen and Meredith paddling away.

Hey, here comes another team, Ronnie and Kelly,

it's a freaking joke.

Dude, we're carrying the bike.

- Biggest waste of time.

[dramatic music]

- Wait for me, Meredith. - I'm losing my pants.

- City of Mendoza.

We've passed Gretchen and Meredith.

- Find the Camping Suizo.

Honey, are you all right?

Do you need some mouth to mouth resuscitation?

[dramatic music]

- They're b*ating us. - No, they're not.

- Yes they are.

- Come on, keep going.

- They've caught up with us.

- Who? - Uchenna and Joyce.

- That was incredible.

All right, let's go.

- I think I lost all my nails.

- You're one hot chick out there in the whitewater rafting.

[dramatic music]

- Ooh, everything's breaking on us, let's go.

- Let's do it, B. - Let's go.

- That was Ret*rded - That was terrible.

[dramatic music]

- Drive yourself towards the city of Mendoza.

Uchenna blew us outta the water.

I work out all the time, I'm in good shape.

I don't know if they had Olympic rowers or what it was.

[dramatic music]

- Let's go, come on.

We choose not to yield anybody.

- We're taking the river. - River, okay.

- What am I doing here?

[dramatic music]

- So we need to make a right. - Camping Suizo

- And there's a sign right there.

Oh my God, there's a flag.

There's a flag!

- Roadblock, that's okay, that means we're almost done.

- I'm exhausted, I'm exhausted.

Who's not a vegetarian?

- Me. - You're not.

- A roadblock is a task that only one person may perform.

In this roadblock, that person has to eat

a traditional Argentine meal consisting of cow rib,

pork sausage, blood sausage cow intestine,

cow udder, an entire kidney,

and part of a cow's saliva gland.

Each person's portion weighs four pounds.

When they're finished eating, they'll get their next clue.

- Hola, hola. - Hola, hola.

- Oh yeah, that looks good, Alex.

- Mm, delicious, thank you. - Oh, Alex, perfecto.

Yeah, mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm.

- Where is it?

- It's gotta be right around here somewhere.

- [Amber] Camping Suiz.

[dramatic music]

- [Lynn] This is cake, Alex, you got this.

- Amber and Rob are here.

- Who's not a vegetarian.

- Me.

- Amber and Rob.

- Four pounds?

At least I'm hungry.

- What seat you want? - Yeah, gracias.

Thank you.

Wonderful, huh?

Are you kidding me?

- What's this one?

- Can't do it, Alex, barf it up

and then you'll have more room.

Lynn, when you're doing an eating challenge,

the last thing you want to hear is barf it up.

- [Lynn] Okay.

[dramatic music]

- Let's go. Mendoza. - Oh my arms,

my stomach, - I know, that was difficult.

- That's it, that's it. - That's it, that's it.

We're gonna go rafting or something.

- Oh, you're kidding.

I almost d*ed in a whitewater rafting accident

like a couple months ago.

- Hell. - Debbie, please.

- There's no way we can yield anybody.

- Can we paddle or no?

- River raft is fine. - Look at the river.

It's not even scary, let's do that.

Okay?

- This is familiar,

having flashback of death and almost dying.

That's wonderful.

It was important for me to get back in the water

and get over that fear.

- It's gonna be fine, Debbie, it'll be fine.

Are you nervous? - A little.

[dramatic music]

- [Ron] Mendoza, turn here.

- Can you help me find this?

- Here is gonna be Suizo camp.

- Gracias. - Gracias.

- Arriba, arriba, andale.

- [Gretchen] There's Mendoza.

This is good, I don't know how far from here it is yet.

- All four teams came into the city at once.

We're all just separating and doing it on her own.

- Excuse me, Camping Suizo.

Oh, she's saying come on.

[dramatic music]

[Alex coughs]

- [Amber] Is it any good or is it yucky?

- I don't wanna talk about it.

[dramatic music continues]

- Here you go, right here.

- There's another one. - Dang it.

- [Meredith] Suizo.

- I see it. - Yeah, get ready to run out.

- Get out, honey.

[dramatic music continues]

Hurry.

- Oh, good.

- Roadblock.

- I did one roadblock. - Okay, I'll eat it.

- But once you've eaten four pounds of meat,

the pro will hand you your next clue.

- Four pounds of meat.

- Four pounds is a lot of meat.

- Four pounds of meat's nothing, buddy.

- Here we go, here's the meat.

[dramatic music]

- I can do it. - Do it.

- Gracias.

- You're getting it.

This is for first.

- I'm never gonna be able to eat it all.

Yeah.

[dramatic music]

- [Joyce] There's a flag.

- I'm not a vegetarian, let's go.

- Oh man.

- It's actually pretty good stuff.

- [Rob] The brains and the intestine is the nastiest part.

- When I make brains at home, it's so tender and juicy,

it's so good when the juice runs out.

- Yeah.

- Ugh.

[dramatic music]

[Alex vomits] - Oh, oh, oh.

- Don't pay attention to him, baby.

- Damn.

- Turn your back to him if you want.

Yeah, there you go.

- It's alright, Alex.

- What happens if I can't finish?

- What happens if you can't?

- Yeah. - Penalty.

- I had to come up with a plan and it had to be quick.

- I'm not gonna sit and suffer for another three hours

like these people are.

I didn't want to eat it,

but I still wanted to stay in the race.

When you quit a task in "The Amazing Race,"

you have only one choice and that's to take

a four-hour penalty from the time that the next team

arrives at the task.

- Thank you. - Gracias.

- I quit, I'm done.

- This is you, we can't waste another roadblock.

- After four hours, we can leave here and we get the clue.

[dramatic music]

- Oh, Deana. - Deana, go Deana,

go Deana, go Deana, go Deana, it's your vomit, go Deana.

- What is all this stuff?

I'm not gonna be,

- Do your best. - My stomach

ain't big enough for all this.

- We made a big mistake.

- We need to convince Deana to quit

because other people still haven't arrived yet.

- Right, go tell Deana.

- I'm gonna tell Ray.

What I would have to do in order to pull this off

is to make other teams realize that there is no way

they would be able to complete the task.

Listen, she's not gonna do it.

I just quit. - What's the penalty?

- Four hours, - Four hours.

- After the next team arrives.

- After the next team arrives. - You're not gonna finish.

- I know, I can't do this.

How about you? - I quit already.

- I gotta quit eating this. - Deana, give it to your guy.

- See, the beauty of the plan is that it was foolproof.

As soon as I hooked Ray and Deana,

I was guaranteed not to be eliminated, guaranteed.

- [Lynn] Why quit, dude, you got a good lead?

- Can't be done, man.

- [Lynn] Oh, Alex will get it done for sure.

[dramatic music]

- Well, today is probably the worst eating experience

that I've ever had in my entire life.

And mind you, I lost pounds in about days

in an Iraqi prison.

Takes a lot of energy, don't it.

And not to say that the food in the Iraqi prison

wasn't worse, but I didn't have to eat four pounds of it.

- I owe you a big one.

- Yes, you do.

[dramatic music]

- Wish I could help you, hun.

This has to be horrible for you.

- He's not gonna be able to do that.

He don't eat meat.

- Gretchen, It might be quicker to quiet.

- Four hours.

Say after all this, if you give up now,

when the next person comes to the block,

your four-hour penalty begins then.

And it's gonna take you another couple hours

to get through that, I think.

- If they get finished before our time is up,

then they've got the head start.

- It's up to you, we could be eliminated.

[dramatic music]

- I can't eat all this. - I know you can't.

- I'm giving up right now and I will take my penalty.

I'm finished.

- Meredith's quitting.

- We'll just wait with everybody, wait everybody out.

You gave it a chance.

- That's a smart move.

[Uchenna screams]

- Oh Alex, you're getting it, baby, you're almost there.

[dramatic music]

- Oh my God.

Uchenna's knocking it out.

Poor Alex, chewing on that stuff.

- Come on baby, you got like four bites left.

- You just have that bite, right?

- Chew it up, chew it up.

No way.

[group applauds] - Yeah!

- Yes, thank you.

Drive yourselves to the next pit stop.

- [Phil] Teams must now drive themselves

eight miles to this place, Estancia San Isidro.

This traditional Argentine ranch in the shadow

of the Andes mountains is the pit stop

for this leg of the race.

The last team to check in here may be eliminated.

- Okay. - Let's go.

- It's so freaking cool to come in first.

- Do you want a mint?

- [laughs] Do I want a mint?

[dramatic music]

- You're getting it.

Are you done?

[group cheers] Awesome.

Gracias, gracias, senor.

Warning, the last team to check may be eliminated.

- Okay, let's go. - We gotta get it.

- Don't get lost on the way.

- I'm gonna stop and get some directions.

I'm looking for Estancia San Isidro.

Cool, he said we can follow him.

- You did awesome.

You super kicked ass.

I mean, now we're going to a pit stop right now.

- Yay.

[dramatic music]

- Ah, look at this. - Is this it?

- Nobody is around here, sheesh, this is not right.

All right, we gotta get outta here.

- Oh please, Uchenna and Joyce be lost.

- Ah man, this sucks. - And we made a left

instead of going straight.

- This is it, this is it. - Stop, stop, stop.

- [Uchenna] There's something's here, something's here.

Let's go, baby.

[dramatic music]

- Welcome to Mendoza, Argentina.

- Thank you. - Gracias.

- Lynn and Alex. - Yes.

- You're team number one. [pair cheers]

- And we passed Rob - We passed Amber and Rob.

- That must have felt good, though, going past those--

- One, two, you have to lean when you do it.

- A big part of the sweetness for Alex and I

was that we b*at Amber and Rob.

[pair cheers]

- Let's go leader, babe.

Oh man.

- Uchenna and Joyce,

- Yes. - You're team number two.

- Two?

Okay.

- You're like the monster eater,

but you got beaten out on the drive

from the roadblock to the pit stop.

- Unbelievable. - Unbelievable.

- Is this lunch and dinner? - Yep.

- [Susan] It's very good, Patrick, thank you.

- We'll find some cheap meal on Mendoza.

- [Susan] This tastes like a steak.

[band plays]

- This is very romantic.

- Here we go.

About to see the finish line here, Gregory.

- That's it. - Can we get

a judge over here 'cause I think my man

finished with four pounds of meat.

[group cheers] Thank you, sir.

- You done? - Yeah.

- Yay for Ron.

- Drive yourself to the next pit stop.

- Warning, last one to check in may be eliminated.

- Right here. - Yeah, that's it.

Who's not a vegetarian, it's me.

- Hey. - Go down this way.

- Yeah, all right, thanks.

Hey, how you doing?

- Are they here?

It was Patrick and Susan came in, our time started.

Ray and Deana, Meredith and I were standing

on the sidelines.

- I have to eat all of this?

- You'll figure it out.

You'll figure it out in a minute.

[peaceful music]

Hmm.

[dramatic music]

- Okay.

- Drive yourselves towards the city of Mendoza.

- Not looking good, but we're still playing anyway.

We're just determined to never give up.

I love you. - I love you, too.

[dramatic music]

- We're walking together.

- Brian and Greg, Ron and Kelly,

you're teams number three and four.

- Yeah. - All right.

- [Phil] Congratulations.

[solemn music]

- It's just so much food,

I don't think I can fit in my stomach.

- [Susan] Do it!

- Yeah, see, this is why I need you to be quiet.

If you were doing this, I would have sympathy for you.

- I would start vomiting.

- No, you wouldn't - Oh yes, I would.

- Mom, you would be curled up in the fetal position crying.

- I would be vomiting. - You would not do it.

- I would vomit.

- She's saying vomit, oh God.

- The more you do this,

the more it makes me want to not do it just to spite you

because you're being so insensitive about this.

- This could be it.

It could be over.

[dramatic music]

Whatever, you decide what you're gonna do.

- I will decide what I'm gonna do.

I cannot believe you.

[dramatic music]

- This was a good idea. - This was a good idea,

- Patrick. - I can't do it.

I can't.

Debbie and Bianca aren't gonna finish it,

I'm sure of it.

- Okay. - Tons of meat, yes, yes!

- Here they come! [group cheers]

[dramatic music]

- [Bianca] Debbie already has her pants undone.

- She's gonna try, oh my God.

[dramatic music continues]

- When she finds out she can still be in this game,

I think she's gonna eat it.

This chick's tough.

She had the to yell at me, she's gotta be.

- Thank you. - Thank you.

Let's go.

Pretty slick the way we pulled it off.

- Yep, good job.

[triumphant music]

- I don't know why I'm laughing so much, but,

Rob and Amber, you're team number five.

- All right. - We did it.

- And you're looking very pleased with yourself, you guys.

- I didn't think I could do it,

but I found a way to plot and scheme in "The Amazing Race."

- It's kind of unprecedented.

There were teams at the roadblock

not moving because you convinced them not to move.

I mean, how did you do that?

- Sometimes I wonder myself, Phil.

[pair laughs]

- If I have to do it, I can do it.

- All right.

- One, two, three, go, swallow it,

it's a sh*t, it's a sh*t, it's a sh*t.

- [Susan] Chew, chew, chew.

- Oh, that is a hell of an aftertaste.

- [Susan] That's good, that's good.

- All right, sh*t, sh*t, sh*t, sh*t, sh*t.

- [Susan] I think you've got half of it gone.

- Chug, chug.

Oh my God, that's good meat.

- Uh huh. - Oh, good.

[Patrick vomits] Don't listen, don't listen.

Don't listen, don't listen.

- Tell me when he's done.

- I feel so bad for them, they both tried so hard.

- Drive yourself the next pit stop.

- Warning, the last team to check in may be eliminated.

[dramatic music]

- You could b*at him in a foot race.

- Yeah, that's true.

- Come on. - Okay, okay.

- Run.

Stancia San Isidro.

- [Deana] There it is right there.

- We made it.

[triumphant music]

- Ray and Deana, you're team number six.

- How far?

[man speaks in Spanish] - Turn the car around.

- This is the place.

- Okay.

[triumphant music]

- Meredith and Gretchen,

you're team number seven.

- Lucky seven, baby. - Lucky seven again.

[dramatic music]

- [Susan] You're good, you're good.

- You're almost done, you have the same amount that he has.

- You got about five bunches there and that's it.

[dramatic music continues]

- One. - One.

- Two, you can do it.

You can do it, you can do it.

you can do it, you can do it, you do it.

[Susan screams]

- [Bianca] Oh my gosh, you can do it, you can do it,

you can do it, you can do it, keep going.

- Oh, gracias. - Thank you.

Oh my God.

- If I knew you could have done that,

I would've been done hours ago, huh.

- I know, I just needed the pressure.

- [Susan] Damn, she came in there and scared me to death.

- [Patrick] Me, too.

Oh, is this one way?

- Where do I go?

Ah, this is one way too.

- Curve it a little that way, follow that car.

- It's done.

Yay, round of applause, the only girl to finish, woo!

- Okay, we're almost done.

Let's go. - Let's just go,

this is for the race. - Debbie, you did awesome,

by the way.

- [Debbie] Do you see it on the map, Bianca,

can you get me there?

- This is the fastest way we're gonna get there.

- [Susan] Let's go this way, I guess.

- [Patrick] That's not it.

- [Susan] If we're going the wrong way we could be done for.

- It's gonna be very, very close.

We're still in it. You know,

- Look for that marked parking lot.

- Okay, go, pull in here.

[tense music]

[triumphant music]

- Susan and Patrick,

you're team number eight.

- Thank you.

Bianca and Debbie, they were just a few bites

away from b*ating us.

- This is high drama.

- Welcome to Mendoza, Argentina.

- She just ate four pounds of meat and ran.

- Debbie and Bianca,

you're the last team to arrive.

I'm sorry to tell you, you've both

been eliminated from the race.

When you guys came in first on the first leg,

I was pretty confident you guys would be running

in the top three teams.

- We made a mistake that was detrimental.

- It was a larger issue than just myself and Bianca.

It was about a female team winning the race

and just kind of evening the playing field.

- Debbie is so strong.

She's my best friend in the entire world.

I love you. - I love you.

We've been the most important friend in each other's lives

since we were little kids.

And our friendship is gonna stand the test of time

and we're gonna love each other forever.

[melancholic music]

- [Narrator] Stay tuned for scenes from our next episode.

- [Phil] On the next episode of "The Amazing Race."

Rob and Amber attempt an aggressive move.

- If we caught up, they would die.

- Who cares, they're striving to be like us.

- [Phil] Joyce takes a wild ride.

- Oh my God.

- [Phil] While Deana breaks down.

- Babe, I can't do this.

- You either stay up there on the horse or we go home.
