Previously on "Heartland" Oh wait, before you go, you've gotta give me the details on this wedding.

Peter was supposed to fly out tonight, but we have this deal to work out now.

So he's coming to the wedding.

- What about the wedding?

- Forget the wedding!

Who cares about the wedding now?!

You know that job in B. C. ?

You should take it.

Lyndy is in a routine now, we'll be fine.

CASEY: Jack, this is my sister in law, Jen.

Pleasure to meet you Jen, I'm real sorry about your loss.

Thank you.

I do need our talks, and I need your hugs, and I need to know that you're beside me at night.

Maybe I could move in with you?

That sounds terrific.

(BOTH LAUGH)

(HOOVES THUD)

(HORSE SNORTS)

(TAXI RUMBLES)

(HORSE WHINNIES)

(TAXI RUMBLES)

(DOOR OPENS)

(BIRDS CHIRP)

(LAUGHS)

Come on Mom, let's go!

GG!

Well, look who it is!

Oh boy!

(LAUGHS HEARTILY)

Did I ever miss you!

Thank you.

Look who's here!

(LYNDY WAILS)

You're okay, Lyndy.

I'm right here, yes!

(PHONE CHIMES)

It's okay, Mommy didn't get to wash her hair, but that's okay.

(SQUEAKS, THUDS)

Ow!

Uh, hello?

Yes, this is Amy.

Uh, shh!

Shh!

Uh no, not you.

I-actually, can I call you back?

That would be great, thank you.

Bye.

(SIGHS)

You're okay you're okay.

(LYNDY FUSSES)

- All right, two specials - Thank you.

- Thank you.

- And one burger, is that right?

No onions.

Say thank you.

- CASEY: All right, guys.

- MAN: Have a good one.

Hey, thanks for helping me out.

Oh well, I don't mind.

It means I get to spend more time with you.

Yeah, how's it going over there at Casa Casey?

Is it bursting at the seams?

It's a little crowded, but we're-we're managing.

Well, you can always stay at Big River.

Any time.

- Well, thank you.

- Thanks.

We're okay, though I would love everybody to come over to Heartland for dinner, though.

Okay.

I think uh, they might be a little sick of my cooking.

Okay, I'll ask Jack and Lou.

Lou?

Lou's home?

- Why do you say it like that?

- Well, just with Maggie's and the Dude Ranch, and the rodeo school, you just have so much on your plate now, thanks to her.

Oh, and I don't have enough time for what's important.

(CELL PHONE RINGS)

Aww!

Just a second It's Caleb, I gotta take this.

- Please?

- Yeah.

Yeah?

LOU: Whoa, what's all this?

JACK: Oh, just some of Lisa's things.

Lisa's things?

Yeah, didn't I mention we decided to live together?

Lisa's moving in?

- After all this time?

- Yeah.

Why didn't you tell me?

Well, it happened pretty fast.

Oh, so fast you didn't mention it - in our last phone call!

- Uh - GEORGIE: Hey!

You're back.

- KATIE: Georgie!

Muah!

Oh!

I've missed you so much!

And I got you a present from New York.

Why don't you go get it out of your backpack?

Cool, I'd love to stay and catch up, but I've got a shift at the diner, Tim wants me to help out.

Hey, why don't I drive you, and I can tell you all about our summer plans on the way!

Oh well, it might be easier if I just drive myself.

I've got my license now, remember?

Right.

The truck?

- The keys are in it.

- Oh, thank you.

Just bring it back in one piece.

What was so important I had to drop everything to come over here?

I found some new broncs for the rodeo school.

Don't worry, I got a great deal.

You bought broncs for my rodeo school - without consulting me?

- Yeah.

I take this job very seriously.

I knew you were in the market, so I took the initiative.

I can't wait to see 'em.

They were a third of price if you bought all six.

Six?

(GATE CREAKS, BRONCS WHINNY)

MAN: Come on!

Come on, let's go!

(BRONCS WHINNY, SNORT)

MAN: Yep, he's gonna hit 'ya, come around, come around!

I see why you got 'em for a third of the price.

(BRONCS SNORT)

S11E05 Measuring Up And at the break of day you sank into your dream You dreamer Oh oh oh oh You dreamer You dreamer (TRUCK RUMBLES)

What do you think you're doing?

- We can't keep these things!

- What do you expect me to do?

I didn't know they were miniature when I ordered them.

Send 'em back!

Get a refund, I don't care!

Fix it!

I don't think it's going to be that easy.

Figure it out!

They're actually pretty cute.

There's no room for "cute" at my rodeo school!

(GATE CREAKS)

LOU: So, living together?

I know, big step.

Tell me about it.

You two have always been so adamant about your independence.

I didn't think living together was even on the table.

Well, it seemed like the right time.

There he is!

So now what are you working on?

- You just got here!

- I know.

I'm hiring someone to take over running Maggie's and the Dude Ranch while I'm working in New York.

Oh, that's a good idea.

Does that mean you're going to be away even more?

I know Georgie's good at hiding it, but she really misses having you around.

Don't worry, Grandpa, I have a plan for that, too.

- (GASPS)

There's my niece!

- Oh Lou, you're back!

Perfect, because I need a shower!

Oh!

Hello to you, too Well, Ty's out of town, so.

(LOU COOS AT LYNDY)

It's just, Lou can be a little much.

You know, she swoops in from New York like nothing's changed, with all these big plans, like, what are they gonna be this time?

She just forgets that I have a life now you know, with work, and Flame, friends.

Yeah no, I totally get that.

It's like my stepmom.

I've renamed her my "smother.

" When my dad was sick, she just like took care of him 24/7, and now that he's gone, she doesn't know what to do with her life.

So she's like, obsessed with mine.

She really needs to get one of her own.

I'd be careful what you wish for.

I used to think Lou needed a life, and now she has one, and I never see her.

- Sorry I'm late!

- CASEY: That's all right.

Georgie's been helping out.

What was the big emergency?

Caleb bought broncs for the rodeo school.

What's wrong with that?

- They're three feet tall!

- What's three feet tall?

Caleb bought horses for the rodeo school.

Minis?

Oh, they're so sweet!

They're not sweet, they're short, and they're nasty, and useless, and he better be taking 'em back as we speak.

(CELL PHONE RINGS)

Lou's not home yet, is she?

Yeah, she got home a while ago.

I thought I had a couple hours.

I gotta get to the Dude Ranch before she sees it.

(BIRDS CHIRP)

(TRUCK RUMBLES UP, TIRES CRUNCH ON GRAVEL)

(DOOR OPENS)

Heyyyy!

Here's my girl!

- Dad!

- Welcome I thought you were looking after this place!

I-I opened up the cabins for the guests that you booked uh, you know, a few weeks ago, but I-I have not been back a lot since.

There have been no guests since then?

No uh, I've been busy.

- Not really.

- (GROANS)

I was gonna hire a full time manager, but there's nothing to manage!

I mean, this is an overgrown ghost town!

Well, you're home!

You're home now, you'll have the place back, and ship shape in no time.

(SIGHS)

And I guess you heard about the Mitch situation.

Not my idea, Jack wanted to bring him back.

You know, his trailer's up there.

But I made sure they put it out of sight, so I got your back on that.

What?

JACK: Yeah, I probably should've mentioned that Mitch was back here working again.

Why?

I made him a partner in our cattle business.

A partner?

Grandpa, how could you?

And without talking to me about it first?

Okay, as far as I can tell, you're not gonna be around here that much anymore, isn't that what you were just saying?

- Yes, but - Well then, I guess this decision really won't affect you that much, will it?

So Ty's gone, Lisa's moved in, and you've hired my ex-boyfriend.

Anything else you forgot to mention?

No, no, that pretty much covers it.

(SIGHS ANGRILY)

Wow, she looks bigger.

Ty, she's the exact same size as when you left two days ago.

How are things going there?

Bob and I worked on five wolves yesterday.

All sh*t from the air.

Just left to suffer.

We uh we lost two of them.

Well, at least you're helping, right?

Yeah, I guess.

I'm so proud of you.

Thanks, Amy.

Uh Amy, I gotta go, Bob's here.

So I'll talk to you soon, okay?

Okay, call me later.

Will do.

Bye, sweetheart.

Bye.

Say, bye, Daddy.

- Bye!

- Bye, Lyndy.

(PHONE BEEPS, AMY SIGHS)

(TRUCK RUMBLES)

(BRONC SNORTS)

(DOOR SLAMS)

I thought I told you to get rid of these things.

- I can't.

- Why?

The truth is I bought 'em online.

I contacted the seller and he's a reasonable guy, but Yeah, but basically, you're screwed.

Yes, yes, I am.

KATIE: Can I pet one of your horses, Caleb?

No, Katie.

Honey, we're not keeping these horses.

I don't see that we have much choice.

Well, you're gonna have to sell 'em.

And hopefully you find somebody dumber than you to buy 'em.

- KATIE: Aaaah!

- Caleb: Katie!

Aah!

Aaah!

Aaah!

A little help!

(MINI BRONC WHINNIES)

- Oh whoa, honey!

- Katie!

- That was fun!

Wee!

- Whoa!

These guys aren't like your pony, they buck.

I know!

You know what, you're lucky she's got my genes.

She could've been hurt!

Hey, Tim?

Having a brain wave.

Keep it to yourself.

Come on Tim, just-just hear me out!

All we have to do is postpone the saddle bronc clinic with the older kids, I'll get some of their younger brothers and sisters to come out and we'll have a session with the minis.

Nope!

No way.

I've already worked with kids at "Little Britches," I'm not doin' it again!

Yeah, but these kids would be like, nine or ten, way more manageable.

Katie, cover your ears.

Working with kids is a nightmare!

Even the older ones!

You add some miniature broncs to the equation, you got a recipe for disaster!

Come on, Tim, just let me run the clinic.

If it doesn't work out, it'll be on me.

And that's fine.

Listen, it's a whole new revenue stream.

(SIGHS)

Fine.

One clinic, but you're running the whole thing.

- Yeah!

- I am not involved.

I love you, go to the house.

- You won't regret this.

- I already do.

Oh!

Uh-uh.

Just one more thing.

Can I borrow a few hundred bucks?

I've gotta board the minis at the rodeo grounds.

Just keep 'em here!

(SUV RUMBLES)

(DOOR SLAMS)

(PASSERSBY CHATTER)

Okay.

- I'm gonna be a bronc rider!

- Really?

Since when?

Since Caleb, he let me ride one today.

Oh, well I don't know if we're gonna have time for that, Because you have to help mommy find a new manager.

Mitch!

Are you kidding me?

No thank you!

MITCH: Hey, kiddo!

How are 'ya?

- Hi - I'll be inside, mommy!

Bye, Mitch.

Hi?

I called you, I texted you, I Facebooked you!

No response, and that's what you have to say to me?

Hi?

Look, Lou, I-I don't know what to say, this is-this is really awkward.

Not as awkward as thinking you're in a relationship with someone, and showing up at their trailer, and discovering they've disappeared, - with no explanation!

- No no explanation?

Okay, how about this?

How about I show up at the wedding that you invited me to, only to see you and your ex run off together!

- I did not run off with my ex!

- I saw you with my own eyes!

You held hands, you got in the truck, and you drove off!

Amy was in labour!

Well, how was I supposed to know that?

If you had stuck around, you could've found out!

Can we just can we just put all this behind us?

Please?

I'm working for Jack again Yeah, thanks for the heads up on that, by the way.

(SIGHS)

And you know, just because you're back, does not mean things are going to return to the way they were.

I've moved on.

This might be hard for you to wrap your head around, but this has nothing to do with you.

(SIGHS)

I didn't know Maggie's was hiring.

- Mom!

- Sorry, what?

- What's all this?

- Oh!

Uh, it's just requirements for the job.

That's a pretty big ask.

Not really, I obviously should've done it sooner.

Oh, I can't believe the way that my dad has neglected the Dude Ranch, he really dropped the ball.

Don't blame him, he's trying his best, we all are, it's just been really hard since you've been away so much.

I know, and it's been hard for me, too.

But that's why I came up with the perfect plan.

- Plan?

- Yeah!

Having Katie with me in New York has been a total success, so we thought you might come join us, just for the summer.

Yeah, come to New York, Georgie.

I'm training with Val's horse all summer.

Well, maybe we can look into transporting Flame.

Oh!

Come on, that's ridiculous, - Val will never go for that!

- I'll talk to Val.

Your training schedule won't have to skip a b*at.

I'm training with Amy.

Well, we can have her shipped out, too.

- (GROANS)

- I'm kidding.

Just think about it, okay?

(SIGHS)

(BIRDS CHIRP)

- Ohhh - Are you okay, Grandpa?

Oh, I didn't sleep too well last night.

Join the club!

Lisa brought over these fancy new memory foam pillows.

Well, what ever happened to feathers?

Welcome to cohabitation.

- Good morning.

- Morning.

Hey, dad.

So, has Lou found my replacement?

Replacement?

For what?

Oh, your sister hasn't told you that she fired me?

What?

I guess I'm not running Maggie's, or the Dude Ranch up to her standards.

I'm not f*ring you, I'm just hiring some help.

Well, it's about time.

Yeah, I set up some interviews at Maggie's for later today.

So does this mean you're gonna be spending even less time here?

Don't worry, I have it all figured out.

The girls are gonna be joining me in New York for the summer.

Right?

(BIRDS CHIRP, PEOPLE CHATTER)

WYATT: Hey!

I uh I got your text.

New York?

Wow, that's-that's awesome!

No, it's crazy.

I can't just up and leave for two months.

And what am I gonna do in New York?

Well what are you talking about?

What couldn't you do in New York?

It's got everything.

It's-it's New York!

It's a music mecca.

There's Strawberry Fields, Electric Lady Studios, the Chelsea Hotel.

It sounds like you should be the one going to New York with Lou.

Yeah I had a trip planned there with my dad, - but we ran out of time, so.

- Oh no!

- I'm-I'm sorry, I didn't - No, no, no.

I just mean that if you've got the opportunity, you should go for it.

Well, Lou really wants me to go, and it would make everyone's life so much easier.

(SIGHS)

(PAPERS RUSTLE)

- Hey.

- Hey.

I hope you don't mind me working in here.

A new load of Lisa's boxes is taking up the entire kitchen.

- Yeah, it's fine.

- Where's Lyndy?

(SIGHS)

She finally went down for her nap.

You know Amy, the first rule of having a baby is when they nap, you nap.

Yeah well, I can't nap, Lou.

I'm trying to build back my client base.

I'm not gonna do that if I'm sleeping all day.

You can't do everything, you're gonna burn out.

Yeah, I don't really have a choice now, do I?

You know, Amy, "having it all" is a myth.

I don't want it all, Lou.

- That sounds more like you.

- What?

Why would you ask Georgie to move to New York when you know she's in the middle of training?

I'll talk to Val, we'll take Flame with us.

No!

Val's not gonna go for that!

Flame just overcame a huge trauma, you can't just pack him up and ship him 2,000 miles!

- I had no idea.

- Yeah, of course you didn't.

I'm doing my best, okay?

I'm trying to be a good mom.

You can't do three months of parenting in three days!

That's not fair!

I'm not gonna stand here and tell you how to raise your family, but you can't expect Georgie to choose between show jumping, and her mom, that's not being fair!

Why don't you stick to worrying about your daughter, - and I'll worry about mine.

- Fine.

Fine.

(RECEDING FOOTSTEPS)

(DOOR OPENS AND SHUTS)

Hey, dad.

- Hi, honey.

- Hi.

Hey, I'm supposed to remember to ask you if Casey and her sister-in-law, and the two boys can come for dinner tomorrow night at the ranch.

Didn't she just lose her husband?

Yeah, yeah.

- She's-she's okay.

- Yeah, I mean, of course.

- I don't see why not.

- Good.

(SIGHS HEAVILY)

What exactly are you looking for in a person?

Well, there are a lot of qualified people, but if working in New York has taught me anything, it's that I wanna find someone who can think outside the box.

LOU: I'm just gonna ask you a number of questions, there is no right answer.

Okay.

(LAUGHS NERVOUSLY)

If you could have dinner with any three people, living or dead, who would they be?

Probably Heathcliff Frodo, and Mittens.

Well, they're my cats.

I know they're not human per se, but uh, I wouldn't want to have dinner with anyone else.

If there was a colour that would best describe your management style, what would that be?

- Red.

- Great.

No wait, pink.

Yellow?

Okay, good.

Chartreuse, it's the only colour that is also a drink.

If there were a tree that best describe your management style Great question.

Hmm (BREATHES DEEPLY)

Like a-just a little shrub.

I would go with Pinus banksiana.

Hmm!

That's a Jack Pine for you laypeople.

And why did you choose that?

I think it's pretty self explanatory.

Sorry, can we go back to the question about colours because I feel like you were judging me for saying yellow, and my management style is more of an orange, like, it's closer to marigold?

It's not like I can't communicate.

I mean, I'm a great communicator.

- Good.

- Just ask my cats!

(SIGHS)

(LOCK RATTLES)

(SIGHS HEAVILY)

(KEYS JINGLE)

- JEN: I'm too late, aren't I?

- Jennifer.

Oh, I know my interview was an hour ago, but I'm new in town, and I had to get somebody - to look after my youngest son.

- I'm sorry, but punctuality is actually pretty important to me.

Yeah, I'm usually not this flaky.

Well, flaky is definitely not a plus for this position.

(CRICKETS CHIRP)

Are you gonna be much longer?

LISA: Oh.

Um well uh, 15 minutes?

Okay well, all I wanna do is brush my teeth, and go to bed.

Okay, I'm doing something.

Well, are you okay?

(DOOR CREAKS OPEN)

I'll just use the kitchen.

Okay.

Love you.

(SIGHS)

Amy!

- Long time no see.

- Caleb.

What are you doing here so late?

I was just checking on my mini broncs.

I saw those little guys.

I hear there was a bit of a mix up.

I'm sure my dad loved that.

- You have no idea!

- (LAUGHS)

And then I stupidly volunteered to teach a clinic.

The older kids, I-I get them.

Some of them, they even look up to me.

But the little 'uns, completely uncharted territory.

I'm in way over my head.

Wait a minute, you have tons of experience with mini horses, and I know you helped Tim with that whole muttonbusting thing.

Caleb, I have not slept in 24 hours.

Lyndy finally stopped crying for the first time all day.

I'm hanging on by a thread here.

Okay, okay, but this is like, a huge screw up.

I really need to prove to Tim that this can work.

Please, you've gotta help me!

I can't, I have limited time right now.

I will buy you and Ty dinner out once a week for a month.

And I'll babysit.

Please?

My future's in your hands.

(SIGHS)

(TOOTHBRUSH RASPS)

Lisa?

Yep.

(CHUCKLES)

I don't care how long you two have been together, living under the same roof is just different.

(SIGHS DEEPLY)

So how'd the interviews go?

Ah, don't ask.

All of the candidates were completely maladjusted.

This is gonna be a lot harder than I thought.

And how's Georgie doin'?

You talk to her about New York?

Well, we haven't ironed out the details yet, but I've been so busy since I've been back, I haven't had much time for Georgie and Katie.

I've noticed.

I think you're losing sight of what's important here, Lou.

- Grandpa - Oh This business venture of yours, it started out as two weeks, and now it's your entire life.

Opportunities like this don't come along every day, Grandpa.

If the Maggie's franchise continues to expand and thrive, my daughters will have everything they need, and more!

I think all your daughters need is their mother.

Hey.

Caleb.

Hi, you're gonna have so much fun today.

- Katie.

Hey, Tim!

- KIDS: Bye mom, bye!

- Katie!

- Whoa.

Katie honey, I'd like you to meet Brick.

Brick is Casey's nephew.

Hi, you wanna ride a bronc?

It's okay if you don't.

Come on, I'll show you.

KIDS: Okay, bye.

Bye!

(TIM CHUCKLES)

Having second thoughts, you can wave the white flag anytime.

No, it's gonna be the best clinic ever.

(KATIE LAUGHS)

KIDS: Whoa!

Whoa, cool!

Um, cool!

(TRUCK RUMBLES UP)

(TRUCK SHUTS OFF)

Hey, you got a minute?

(GROANS)

Here, let me help you.

I got it.

Look Lou, Jack made me a good offer, and I like working with him.

It's fine, I'm over it.

And the reason that I haven't answered any of your calls or texts is 'cause well, it it's because I was tired of not knowing where we stood.

Mitch, I'm pretty sure you and I both knew where we stood.

Really?

And where does Peter fit in?

I already told you, I didn't wanna lose everything I had worked for, and Peter's investment offer was the easy answer.

You should know I turned him down.

Yeah, your dad might have mentioned that.

Nicole and I found a different investor.

If you'd stuck around, I could've told you that.

Well, I'm happy for you, Lou.

I mean this Maggie's thing seems like a once in a lifetime opportunity.

It is.

I just wish people would get that.

Good luck with that.

(KIDS YELL AND HOLLER)

KIDS: Harder!

Woo!

Hard!

Hey, come on, just put it down!

Hey, hey, hey!

Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa!

Caleb!

You better get it together out here, or one of these kids is gonna get hurt.

(CELL PHONE BEEPS)

Okay stop, slow down!

This isn't a toy!

Amy where are you?

KID: No!

(SCREAMING)

- BOY: Get it!

- Girl: Noooooo!

(WATER SPLASHES)

Oh, you don't have to do that.

Well, it was just sitting here, if you were gonna wash it, I'm pretty sure you'dve done it by now.

Well, I got distracted, I had to help Katie get ready.

I didn't realize it was such a big deal.

Well, if you don't at least rinse it, it gets all caked on there and it's impossible to get off.

Okay, well, that won't happen again.

It kinda pales in comparison to the pile of wet towels on the bed every morning, but Well, I would put the wet towels in the bathroom - if I could ever get in there!

- Okay All right I put extra diapers in here just in case You guys are still okay to watch Lyndy, right?

Oh, you bet.

Did you not tell Caleb you'd be at the grounds by ten?

- Yeah, why, what time is it?

- It's well after that.

He is gonna k*ll me.

Uh okay, you guys are good?

Thank you!

(DOOR OPENS THEN SLAMS)

CALEB: Okay guys, so now that we've had a little warm up, it's time to get started.

The first step to becoming a bronc rider is getting familiar with this guy right here.

That's baby stuff.

When do we get to ride the real horses?

No, no, you're not ready for the real horses yet.

We wanna ride the mini broncs!

ALL: Mini broncs!

Mini broncs!

Mini broncs!

Mini broncs!

Okay!

Yeah, fine, yeah.

We'll start with the mini broncs.

- KIDS: Yay!

Woo!

- Yay KIDS: Yeah!

Woo!

(GATE RATTLES)

(BRONC WHINNIES)

(THUDS)

Pull up, pull up!

Boy: Ow!

(BRONC WHINNIES)

(THUDS)

(BRONC WHINNIES)

(KIDS CHEER)

Pull up!

Squeeze with your knee (THUDS)

(BRONC SNORTS)

(CRYING)

(SIGHS)

(FOOTSTEPS THUD)

CALEB: Where were you?

(SIGHS)

Where is everyone?

- Did I miss it?

- Well, you missed something.

(GROANS)

Caleb.

I'm sure it wasn't that bad.

I had to shut it down and call it a day before things got worse.

Oh I'm sorry I couldn't be here sooner.

And I totally screwed up, the clinic was a bonehead idea.

(SIGHS)

What can I do to help?

I think we just need to take a step back.

TIM: It was bad.

You know, I'm not even sure the word "bad" does it justice.

But Caleb has now given me five different reasons to fire him, I just have to pick one.

Come on Dad, can't you at least support Caleb?

He's actually trying.

I'm not handing out participation medals to him.

Amy, this is my business.

Yeah, but what's good for Caleb, is good for your business, right?

But Lou is now hiring somebody for Maggie's, and the Dude Ranch, so I can spend more time with my students at the rodeo school, I don't need Caleb anymore.

Well, don't hand out his pink slip yet, I am nowhere near finding anyone.

- (KNOCKING)

- Hey, come on in!

- Hey!

- Welcome.

(CASEY LAUGHS)

- Hey.

- Hey, Lou.

These are my nephews, this is Wyatt and Brick.

Hi, guys.

And this is my sister-in-law, Jen.

Jen, this is Lou.

Actually, we've met.

(SIGHS)

Okay, I have a question for Jack and Lisa.

How's it going so far, living together for the first time?

(CHUCKLES)

Well - That good, huh?

- Yeah.

What about you, you found anyone for Maggie's, or the Dude Ranch?

Oh, I highly doubt that Lou's gonna find anyone that meets her criteria.

Oh, and the questions she's asking at the interviews!

What colour would you compare your management style to?

Or, name the tree that best describes your personality.

(LAUGHS)

Yeah, I don't see what colours or trees have to do with running a business.

I don't know about that, Jack, I kinda think that that reveals a lot about a person.

Like say, what kind of tree would you be?

Someone might say oak, if they're trying to convey strength, or maybe pine, or spruce, if they're outdoorsy.

Me, personally, I would be a palm tree, because I can go with the flow, and survive in any kind of conditions.

Another really great one that you could ask is, if you were a superhero, what superpower would you have?

I used to ask that one all the time when I was hiring for a B&B I used to run after college.

LOU: What do you think?

I mean, wouldn't Jen be perfect to run Maggie's and the Dude Ranch?

Oh Lou, you already know how I feel about this whole thing.

I know Grandpa and I get it.

But I mean, think about it!

You were away on the rodeo circuit all of the time, and Mom turned out just fine.

Dad was away all the time and we turned out just fine.

Away all the time?

I thought once the new Maggie's was open, you'd be home for good.

Georgie, you have to understand, it's a franchise.

Yeah, it's a franchise, so you'll open up another one, and another!

It has come up.

There is the potential for that.

And I mean, success breeds success.

Are you serious?

So basically, you'll never be home.

You might as well hire a new mom while you're at it!

Come on, Georgie, we're gonna spend lots of time together - this summer in New York.

- No!

No, we're not, 'cause I'm not going!

(SIGHS)

Okay, yesterday did not exactly go as planned.

But I have a surprise for you today.

- Hey, guys.

- KIDS: Hi!

Hello!

- This is my friend, Amy.

- KIDS: Hi So, Caleb tell me that you tried the real deal yesterday.

How'd that go?

(KIDS GROAN)

Not so good, huh?

Well, that's okay, maybe you're not ready for the wild ponies just yet, but we'll get there.

First, I thought we could practice on this one.

She's nice and quiet, does that sound good?

- Mhmm.

- Okay, great.

Hey Katie, why don't you come on over here?

- This is my niece, Katie, - BOY: Hi Katie.

And I thought that she could help demonstrate how to properly sit in a saddle, and we'll get into a bit of a spurring motion.

Good job.

Yeah, hi.

I made a little work area for myself.

Yeah, and this is my fly fishing desk.

I tie flies here, where is my fishing stuff?

It's all right here, I put it in this box.

Oh!

You can't just cram it into a box like that, you gotta keep it separate!

- Okay - Ah see!

I'll never untangle that mess.

I said I'm sorry.

(SIGHS)

Boy, I can't do anything right around here.

Well, I just can't believe that you'd move my fishing stuff without asking me!

Jack, I got it, I said I was sorry.

You know what, I kinda get the feeling that maybe we rushed into this living together thing, and if you wanna pull the plug, you just say so.

Who said anything about pulling the plug?

Well, you're obviously not happy!

All you're doing is picking at me!

Oh Lisa, I'm sorry.

(SIGHS)

I'm sorry if you think I'm nagging, or if I've made you feel anything other than welcome here.

I'm not used to sharing a space with anybody but the girls, and it's it's an adjustment.

Yes, yes, it is.

But we'll make it work.

Mhmm.

I'm sure we will.

CALEB: Looks good!

You guys see where her knees are?

That's perfect.

You've gotta set your feet, though.

(KIDS MURMUR)

That's right, arm up, lean back, lean back, and tuck your chin.

You've gotta get close to that horse's butt.

(ALL LAUGH)

It's part of bronc riding.

That's good, it's great technique.

- You see that?

- What?

I knew Caleb would be good at this.

He's basically just a big kid himself.

Good, good, chest up though.

- Nice.

- (LAUGHS)

CALEB: Good work, Brick!

Now hold it when you come forward.

Ready?

Kick forward, pull back.

Kick forward, pull back.

(JEN SIGHS)

I'm sorry about that the other day in front of Maggie's.

You've been through a lot, and I that was all you needed, right?

Thanks, I appreciate that.

You've just gotta keep moving forward, put one foot in front of the other.

Why didn't you tell me you were Casey's sister-in-law?

I probably should've, but I really wanted to avoid any nepotism.

Well, I shouldn'tve just dismissed you for being late, that wasn't fair.

No, that is completely within your right.

Being late looks bad.

No hard feelings at all.

Okay, good, because I'd like you to come into Maggie's tomorrow morning.

- Maybe we could have a do-over?

- Really?

Yeah, I think you could be a good fit for the management position.

(HAPPY GASP, CHUCKLE)

- I would love that.

- Good.

- CALEB: That's right, atta boy!

- BOY: Don't fall!

Now make sure you're leaning back, kick your feet forward.

- Hey.

- Hey.

How's it going?

It's good, Brick's k*lling the bucking thing.

Hey, looks like you won't have to worry about your "smother" anymore.

I think Lou's offering her the job.

Yeah?

That's awesome.

That's really good, she could really use a win right now.

So have you decided about New York yet?

Yeah, I I decided not to go.

I wanna keep training Flame.

Is that all?

Yeah, I'll miss home, and everyone here.

Anyone in particular?

Like Remi, my dog.

(LAUGHS)

CALEB: Okay, so we got about an hour left.

Who wants to ride the mini broncs?

- KIDS: Me!

Whoo!

- All right, let's mount up!

(KIDS CHEER)

Woooo!

I'm sorry about your arm.

(GATE CLANKS)

(BRONC SNORTS)

There, atta boy!

Good!

Squeeze with your knees!

(BRONC SNORTS)

- (BRONC WHINNIES)

- Lean back!

(BRONC WHINNIES)

- Hmm!

- Ha ha!

(BRONC WHINNIES, GIRL WHIMPERS)

Aaah!

Yeah buddy, pull up!

Atta boy!

(HORSE WHINNIES)

(CLAPS)

Nice.

(HOOVES THUD)

(PEOPLE CHATTER)

Hey, Amy.

Look, I don't wanna fight with you, okay?

This single mom stuff is really hard, and frankly, I was hoping to have your support.

Lou, what do you think I am right now, if I'm not a single mom?

You're not the only one.

You're right, can we start over?

I promise to try and be less judgmental.

You?

Judgmental?

I can't picture it.

- Okay, okay.

- Parenting is tough.

It's the toughest.

(LAUGHS)

(CELL PHONE RINGS)

Hey!

(SIGHS)

It's Ty.

You should probably get that.

- (BEEPS PHONE ON)

- Hey.

Yeah, well, my day's been really good, actually.

Yeah.

- (SIGHS)

Hey.

- Hey.

- Mind if I sit down?

- Sure.

I'm sorry about last night.

Me too.

I want you to know it was a really difficult decision, not to go to New York.

I miss you, and I want to spend time with you over the summer, but I I can't leave here right now.

My whole life is here.

Georgie, I should never have asked you to choose in the first place.

I just wanna know that you're gonna be okay.

That you're not gonna spend the whole summer resenting me.

That this won't change anything between us.

It won't, I promise.

The only reason I'm spending so much time in New York this summer, is because this Maggie's franchise is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

And jumping Val's horse is my once in a lifetime opportunity.

Waking up to kiss you And nobody is there The smell of your perfume Still stuck in the air It's hard Yesterday I thought I saw your shadow running round It's funny how things never change in this old town So far From the stars And I remember everything From when we were the children playing in this fairground Wish I was there with you now If the whole world was watching I'd still dance with you Drive highways and byways To be there with you Over and over the only truth Everything comes back to you And I know that it's wrong and I can't move on Everything workin' out?

You okay?

Yeah for the most part.

That's good to hear.

(CLICKS TONGUE)

Mitch?

Wait.

I lied before, outside of Maggie's.

I haven't moved on.

I'm not over you and I was kinda hoping maybe you aren't over me, either.

When I'm next to you Over and over the only truth Everything comes back to you Hmm mm mm Everything comes back to you Hmm mm mm
