Are we waiting for anyone else?

Nope. Just me and the baby.

Good to go.

Uh, where's the radiologist? Is she coming?

She's at our other clinic.

She got held up, but she'll be here soon.

I got a call to come back in.

Is there a problem?

She's just being hyper vigilant.

Uh, sorry I'm late.

Hey.

I'm the daddy. Uh, father.

[Chuckles]

Wow.

That's a little face there.

It's growing so fast.

Should've been here two weeks ago.

Looked like a big peanut.

Is... Everything all right?

Um...

[Chuckles] Yeah.

I'm just gonna get the images processed for the radiologist and, uh, she'll be able to discuss everything with you.

But you'd tell us if something was wrong, right?

You know, I'm not at liberty to read the images and discuss them with you.

Um, but you can wait here if you like.

Uh...

[Chuckles]

It's fine. You don't have to stay.

I'll let you know what she says.

I'm not going anywhere.

Unless you want me to.

No.

No, it's your baby, too.

[Sighs]

Morning, Sanchez. Lovely day.

Davis, looking good. Lose weight or something?

[Chuckles]

Good morrow to thee, Officer Moore.

Chloe Price. Price looks nice.

Look at you looking like sunshine this morning.

Yeah. I mean, today's the day for a fresh start, so I'm kind of feeling like sunshine.

That's nice.

Hope you're wearing sunscreen, though.

Everyone knows that the sun burns the skin.

Oh.

Oh.

Only when it's bare skin.

Oh, this sun is so bright, it penetrates your clothing.

P-penetration.

Mm-hmm.

Um, okay. All right.

Uh, well, your sun doesn't have to work so hard.

If it wants to burn my skin, I can just take my clothes off.

Psst!

Don't make the sun's job so easy, okay?

'Cause I like to work hard.

[Chuckles]

Okay.

Okay. Yeah. This has gone on long enough, yeah?

[Clears throat] What... what has?

Just this... whatever. Whatever's happening here.

Oh, right.

No, I was... I was completely ob... oblivious to it until this... right this moment.

Yeah. Yeah. But it's time to get real.

Mm-hmm. Your tie's crooked.

Ring a ding, ding.

It's gonna be a good day.

Gimme that!

[Snaps fingers] Dov Epstein.

Hey.

Um, quick question.

Do I know you? Like, truly, truly know you?

I don't know. Does anybody truly know anybody?

Nope. What's your middle name?

Ezekiel.

Ezekiel? See, look.

I feel like I know you so much better now.

What's Diaz's middle name?

He doesn't have one.

Oh, okay. Uh, how's he take his coffee?

Black.

Ah. Is it true that Peck has retractable fangs?

Yes.

I knew that.

Okay. Hold on.

Um, we're just getting started, brother.

Uh... Okay, well, hey, let me tell you a few truths about myself.

I am a certified golden dancer.

Check it. [Snaps fingers]

That's called a body roll.

That's... women love it.

Anyway, um, my middle name is Joaquin.

And, hey, you know what?

Sometimes I like to pee sitting down.

Whoa. Whoa. Back up. Hands off.

Okay.

I want to unknow that.

Okay, but hold on. Wait.

It's my turn, though.

I-I-I was gon... I was gonna ask you about Chloe Price.

[Clears throat] I shouldn't have told him that.

[Clears throat]

Nick: Morning.

Morning.

Morning.

Oliver: All right, everybody.

Today we're gonna be assisting with a couple of prisoner transfers.

Hey. All right.

Okay. All right.

What? Nobody's ever seen a pirate in a cop costume before?

[Laughter]

All right.

Uh, I will tell this story once and only once.

I got a cat hair stuck in my eye and I could not get it out, and apparently, there's some kind of germ on cat hair that has given me a corneal infection, so let me stand as an example, all right?

Cat scratch fever is not just a song.

Okay? Do not pick up stray cats, even if they wander into your backyard and they're cute as all get-out. Okay.

Let's get down to business.

Pine Valley Correctional Center for women, okay?

They are completely understaffed and they're operating on a shoestring.

They have asked us to transfer two inmates.

One is going to Sandwood, the other's going to North Point Maximum.

Okay?

Um, McNally and Ward.

Okay, you're gonna take the inmate up to North Point Maximum.

All right, there's nothing like a long ride in a hot squad car to get to know a person.

It's gonna be lovely.

Uh, Peck and Collins, okay, you're gonna take that jaunt over to Sandwood.

Everybody else, your, uh, your assignments are on the board.

Okay, play safe and, uh, color inside the lines.

Okay? Remember, I got my eye on you.

Man: Ooh.

You don't need to do this.

I am fine to do it on my own.

I know you are.

I, uh... I wanted to be here.

Okay.

[Telephone rings in distance]

Uh...

You, uh... Want half?

Sure.

Andy: So, my boyfriend's gonna be a father, but, uh, I'm not gonna be the mother.

The mother works in intelligence and she's bipolar and everyone knows, so it's awkward.

Um...

Yeah.

Uh, look, we're just gonna be together the entire day, and so I just figured let's skip the small talk and go straight to over-sharing.

I'm crazy about Nick Collins.

Pardonne moi?

Sorry, is that weird?

'Cause I know... I know that you used to date him, and...

No, you know what? I actually saw you guys talking in parade.

I was wondering what that was about.

No, no, no. It's nothing.

I mean, I can't and I won't, and that's why I'm looking for excuses to avoid him, and who better to ask than his ex, right?

He's a great guy.

Yeah.

Yeah, but everyone has their flaws.

For sure.

Okay.

Except for Nick.

I mean, you're not going out with him anymore.

Yeah, but that's because of my history with Sam.

Look, he's funny and loyal.

He's a great catch.

Still, you know, I can't date a cop.

[Chuckles] That old Chestnut.

Yeah. I said that, too.

So, have you done many prison transfers before?

What, are you kidding me?

Before this, I was patrolling Shaughnessy in Vancouver.

Most exciting thing I did was stop a few B&Es.

McNally.

Yes. That's me.

Collins.

Nick: Yes.

Peck?

Um, Ward?

Keep these with you at all times.

Place your firearms, magazines, and cellphones in these bins along with anything that can be used as a w*apon.

Sign them in now and you can pick them up on your way out.

Any questions?

Just one. You are?

Justine Ordower. I'm the warden.

Warden Ordower?

Yeah, I know. It's unfortunate.

Let's do some quick paperwork, and then I'll show you the cellblock.

We've had an issue with overcrowding ever since our funding got cut.

As a result, the women aren't getting out as much as they should.

Neither am I, if I'm being honest.

We need a 3-to-40 ratio to let the women out of the cellblock.

Hey, the inmates we're transferring, anything we should know?

Kenzie Grant is a handful.

She's feral, she's impulsive.

She stabbed an inmate in the shower.

Now she's being transferred to maximum.

What about Rochelle Dawber?

Rochelle is the opposite of Kenzie Grant.

When you come through with them, we'll finish the paperwork.

Guard Anderson will take care of you.

Andy: Thank you.

[Lock beeps]

[Women whistling, catcalling]

See? Some women like me.

They're whistling at me, you idiot.

Of course women like you.

I'm the only police officer here you haven't slept with.

Yet.

Anderson: Dawber's in her cell. Grant's over there.

Thank you.

Michelle Dawber?

Yeah. It's me.

Do you have any bags or anything?

Oh, no. No, they were already taken to Sandwood.

I didn't have that much anyway.

Is it all right if we leave now?

I'd really like to get out of here.

Kenzie Grant?

Yo. Who's asking?

Me. You ready to go?

No, I'm not.

Well, maybe you can get ready.

Huh. I know you.

Yeah, you're from Vancouver.

I don't think that we know each other.

Maybe I look familiar.

No. No, I know you from somewhere.

Nick: You all good?

All good.

Yeah, we'll be there in a minute.

All right. Let's go.

Anything you need to grab out of your cell?

Nothing worth taking.

All right, let's go.

Juliet: After you.

Hey!

Don't touch me.

Hey!

Woman: Don't push me, bitch.

Juliet: Whoa, whoa. That's enough, ladies.

That's enough. Break apart. Let's go.

There you go.

[Grunts]

Andy: Hey! Stop!

Bitch!

Guard!

Back off! Everybody back in their cells now!

[Women shouting]

Get off! Get off!

Go!

Oh, my God!

What the hell happened?! Who did that to you?

Who has the Kn*fe?

I don't know!

[Alarm blaring]

What is that?

You know what? You take her.

I'm gonna go back, check on McNally and Ward.

No. I want to stay with you.

I'll go back.

Hey! Get back! Move!

[Women shouting]

[Lock beeps]

All right! Go! Go!

Let go! Let go!

Let go!

Do you hear me?!

This is McNally.

We're gonna need help getting out of this prison.

[Knock on door]

Warden?

Staff Sergeant Oliver Shaw. Tell me what's happening.

The inmates are a little restless.

They're restless?

But I'm ordering a full lockdown.

Then what happens?

Then we wait for the inmates to settle before we move in.

What if they don't settle?

A prison riot is like a candle under a glass.

Eventually, it runs out of oxygen and it goes out.

If we move in g*ns blazing, we add more oxygen.

Now, if you'll excuse me...

What do we do?

We got to wait.

We don't have jurisdiction in this prison.

They're running the show.

Doesn't mean we can't lean on them, though.

Can you see how deep it is?

Andy: I-I can't. There's too much blood.

We got to go to the infirmary.

There's a nurse there.

Woman over P.A. system: The prison is officially on lockdown...

Oh, I do know you.

Used to go with that dealer who ran with the reapers.

Two years ago, guy named Cuddy.

No. Like I told you, I think you got me mixed up with someone.

Yeah. I remember thinking,

"what's this squeaky little redhead doing with a bastard like him?"

It was a rough crowd.

Whatever you say.

All right, let's, uh, let's get you to the infirmary.

Three, two.

[Grunts]

[Women shouting]

Everything's locked down.

We got to get out of here.

This door's unlocked.

No. No.

We're not going down there.

Rochelle: It just leads into the basement.

It cuts across the entire prison and then it comes out on the other side right outside the warden's office, and a guard will be able to let us out. I promise.

Unless you want to stay here.

Get away from me!

All right, go. Go.

Sure this goes somewhere?

I've cut across here before.

Oh, yeah? You get out and roam the prison a lot?

I get out a bit.

The guards treat me a bit differently.

Good for you.

No need to be snarky.

I'm not.

I just figure when you're in prison, you're in prison.

Well, I guess it's all relative.

What now, Smarty Pants?

Hello?

McNally?

[Lock beeps]

[Women shouting]

Hey, it's, uh, it's Peck. I'm stuck in a cellblock.

Can anyone help me?

Peck, it's me. Are you in danger?

No. Not at the moment.

All right, I want you to stay where you are.

I will try my very best.

Hello.

Hello. Hello.

Look at you, Blondie.

Welcome to my lair.

Looks like everybody else took off on me.

Come in.

I don't bite.

Well, I do...

But I won't. I promise.

I can't stand this waiting.

If there's something wrong, they should just... they should just tell us.

It's weird how a minute is an empirical thing.

It's 60 seconds, it never changes, and sometimes that minute flies, and other times it just crawls.

Kind of like a June bug.

You grow up with June bugs?

No. What's a June bug?

A June bug is a little... well, a large brown beetle with wings, and they flap around in everybody's, uh, porch lights at night.

You got to duck them to get into the house, and in the morning, they're crawling around on the ground like slugs.

Oh.

Are there June bugs in the city?

I spent the weekends at my grandma's at Crystal Beach.

You're kidding?

I used to spend summers at Crystal Beach.

Really?

Yeah. My cousins live there.

I love Crystal Beach.

And you don't know June bugs?

No, I only ever went in August.

We were probably swimming there at the same time.

Yeah. Who knew?

Get up. I have to pat you down.

Get up.

[Sighs] Be my guest.

Been a while since I had a good grope.

I kind of miss it.

This sort of thing happen often?

Often enough.

Bunch of babies.

They're always whining about, "oh, there's no dessert."

Not enough time in the exercise yard.

We're in prison.

I think they thought it was gonna be like a princess ball.

Do you know what started it?

Oh, God knows.

Maybe princess number 41576 could've robbed princess number 2134's cookie.

[Sighs] It's gonna be fine. You know what?

We're not gonna be in here forever.

It's gonna be fine.

Gonna seem like forever.

Everybody breathing the same air over and over, in and out.

Everybody pickling on each other's stinking breath.

Can someone please come and get me?

Oliver: Hang tight, Peck. We're working on it.

McNally, you guys doing okay?

Andy: Yeah, our inmate is injured.

We're in a hallway.

I think we're close to the entrance.

But we're actually trying to make our way to the infirmary.

Uh, no, I want you out of there right now.

I want you to head toward that entrance.

When I see you, we'll send a guard to come get you out.

Yeah, but she's losing a lot of blood.

We'll have ems waiting for her.

We're calling them now.

Okay, you hear that, Kenzie?

No, you got to take me to the infirmary.

If we get you out of here, we'll have you to a hospital in 15 minutes, okay?

I said we're going to the infirmary.

[Sighs]

Oliver: McNally, can you hear me?

Ward?

Don't touch it!

Open your radios.

McNally, please confirm you're heading out, right?

Look, Kenzie, we can help you.

No. You're not gonna help me.

What, do you think I'm stupid?

I need to get to J-Bird.

Who's J-Bird?

My bunky, man.

I need to get the real story.

I don't know why she's pinning this on me.

Did you s*ab yourself so we'd take you to the infirmary?

You don't got to go deep to bleed heavy.

J-Bird lied.

Hey, what the hell's going on here? Who's J-Bird?

Jodi Robbins.

She's the inmate that Kenzie stabbed.

She's recovering in the infirmary. Why?

Donnelly's lying. I don't know why.

Man, I know he hates me, but she's my best friend.

So there's got to be more to it than that, right?

Who's Donnelly?

One of the guards. He saw it happen.

So, what's the problem? Why isn't he here?

Why aren't we talking to him? He resigned two weeks ago.

My third resignation in the last month.

Kenzie, put down the Kn*fe.

No!

Just take the Kn*fe away from her throat, okay?

Tell us what happened.

I put down the Kn*fe, you're not gonna take me there!

Tell us what happened.

Last time I saw J-Bird, she was lying on the floor in the shower, all right?

All this blood's going in the drain.

Next thing I know, they say I did it.

I don't trust them. I don't trust you.

Juliet: Okay. Okay, Kenzie, you know what?

Even if you didn't do it, all right, right now you have a Kn*fe pointed at my throat, okay?

Now, look, w-w-we're gonna... we're gonna take you to the infirmary.

I just have to call them and let them know where we're going, okay?

Take off your radio. Okay.

Take it off!

Let's go!

Now!

Go.

McNally, I'm right behind you, okay?

All right.

Yeah.

McNally?

McNally?

Okay, I got no contact with my cops.

We can't just sit around here and wait for this to get worse, you understand?

We have a hostage situation.

An inmate is holding two police officers in Corridor 7.

Get the negotiator down here.

Traci.

I need you to find out everything you can about an inmate here called Kenzie Grant.

Call me back as soon as you can.

Maybe we'll have something for the negotiator when they get here.

Collins?

How you holding up?

Yeah, I'm locked in the basement, but I'm fine.

How's everyone else?

Peck's sitting tight.

Okay. What about Ward and McNally?

They've got a bit of a situation on their hands.

What's going on?

They're in there with an inmate right now.

She's got a Kn*fe on them.

She wants to get to the infirmary.

We're trying to get them out of there.

All right. How far away is tactical?

They're working their way through.

There's riots in most of the cellblocks.

I'll keep you posted.

They're with Kenzie Grant?

Hey!

Oliver: Diaz, any way of calling the security company to manually override the system?

Diaz: Warden called the company.

I need to pee.

All right, copy that.

Collins, what corridor are you in?
There's the toilet. Go ahead.

Promise I won't look.

Stay put. We'll figure this out.

No, thanks. I'd rather hold it.

Suit yourself.

So...

Are you married?

Do... do you ride horses?

Do you have any youngsters?

Actually, I'm in the middle of trying to adopt.

Oh, don't do it.

Youngsters just suck the life right out of you.

They feed off your hair and your bones and your teeth.

My joints haven't been the same since I had the young ones.

Yeah, no offense, Odelle, but you might not have been the best parent.

Oh, maybe, maybe not.

Maybe I was too good.

One thing... if I had my time back, I'd try to get more of my life before the youngsters came along, you know?

I'd... I'd... I should probably... should probably have made a list of stuff to do.

You mean like a... like a bucket list?

Yeah, something like that.

All the things I never got done once the youngsters came.

Like what?

I never got to ride in a hot-air balloon.

I never even got to drink a Mai Tai, I never slept with a black man, I never pinched a stranger on the butt just because I wanted to.

What?

You can't go around giving in to your whims once you become a mother.

I mean, once the youngsters take over, you're in second place, and if you haven't done everything you want to do by then [Scoffs]

You might as well just forget it 'cause it's game over.

Go. Let's go.

All right, Kenzie, okay. You know what?

Just please put down the Kn*fe 'cause we're taking you there right now.

Oh, yeah? I don't think so.

You've been lying to me since the moment you walked in here.

I'm not listening to you.

All right, you know what? You know what?

You were right. You're right.

I do. I remember you.

Oh, yeah, you're full of it.

No, no, no. Forward.

There was... there was that... there was that bar on the north side of Hastings, right?

It was that little... little hole in the wall.

It had... it had license plates nailed to the door, right?

And maybe we even got drunk together.

No, you got drunk. You got drunk.

I was just waiting for Cuddy to bring me my dope.

Right. But we got along.

No, you were a bitch.

Yeah.

Okay, well, what did you expect?

You were a client and Cuddy always told me not to get close to clients.

Yeah, well, Cuddy was a mean son of a bitch.

Yes. Yes, he is.

And he wouldn't be happy if he found out about this.

Oh, yeah? Well, guess what?

A woman's prison is one place where Cuddy can't get me, all right?

Now, I'm not getting out any time soon, so the least I can do is find out why my best friend is saying I tried to k*ll her.

Let's go. Go!

Come on, bitch.

Staff. How's it going down there?

Oliver: Well, your guess is as good as mine.

Apparently, this isn't their first rodeo, which is supposed to tell me something.

Anyway, what did you find out?

Well, I talked to Kenzie's public defender.

Kenzie Grant's been in and out of prison since she was a teenager.

Her only friend in there is this J-Bird person, Jodi Robbins.

The guard who witnessed the stabbing says it was Kenzie, and J-Bird corroborated that from the hospital.

All right, Kenzie is adamant that she did not do this.

Maybe we ought to talk to that guard.

On it.

Greg Donnelly is on his way down here now.

You said he resigned, right?

Yeah. Why?

Well, employment records are vague, but there are a number of complaints filed against him.

Oh, yeah? What for?

Apparently, he was having an inappropriate relationship with one of the inmates.

They say who with?

Rochelle Dawber.

Woman: Diaz, you hear from McNally yet?

You realize I don't belong in here.

Neither do I.

No. I mean in prison.

Normally, good things come into my life.

I'm an indigo child.

Excuse me?

More light falls on me than on most people.

It means I cast a very large shadow.

Well, there's not a lot of light shining on you down here.

Would you let me show you something?

Of that light that shines in here, most of it's shining on me.

In fact, I have been told that I just cast this energy aura all around me.

And if I stand against a light, you can see it.

Look, no offense, but I really don't want to hear about your aura right now.

Well, I think you do, because I forgot to mention one thing.

And that's that I have a key.

[Lock beeps]

Kenzie: Get in there. Get in there.

J.

Andy: Where is everybody?

Turn around. Get on the wall.

Don't move. J?

J, buddy.

Hey, it's me.

Kenzie?

Yeah. You look awful.

What's going on?

Listen, that day in the showers, who was it?

Listen, they got to hear it from you, okay?

'Cause if you tell them the truth, they're not gonna transfer me. Okay?

I-I-I already said.

[Sirens wailing in distance]

It was you.

What?

It was her.

It was you. You did it.

What are you doing this to me for, man?!

They're trying to charge me with attempted m*rder!

I'm sorry.

You know what that means?!

Do you know what they're gonna do to me?

I'm never gonna get out, man!

I'm never gonna have a chance!

Come on, J!

[Straining] I-I'm sorry!

J! Hey.

What's happening? What's happening?

Hey!

Do something!

I can't find a pulse.

Save her. If J dies...

No.

So does this one.

Andy: Okay, okay, okay. Hold on a second.

You got to let her go then. You need to put down the Kn*fe.

I'm not gonna be able to concentrate and I need her help, okay?

You want me to save her, take the Kn*fe away from her neck.

Don't do anything stupid.

Start compressions.

Hurry up!

Hurry up.

Oh, my God.

Okay, so take me through it again.

Uh, well, I ran in when I heard the scream.

Kenzie was there holding the Kn*fe.

She ran off. I let her go.

Why didn't you stop her?

[Scoffs] Where is she gonna go? She's in a prison.

Okay. Uh, do you know why Kenzie went after Jodi?

Probably a lover's quarrel.

I think they were into each other.

You think?

I like to think so, yeah.

Hey, love is love. It happens when it happens.

Are you in love, Mr. Donnelly?

[Sighs]

Look, you didn't bring me here to talk about my love life.

You want a confirmation that Kenzie tried to do in J-Bird, and I'm telling you that, yes, she did.

Can I go?

We're almost done. Just give me a minute.

He's lying. I can feel it.

Why would he lie?

I want to dig into this inappropriate relationship more.

Dov, can you look into Rochelle Dawber while I go over his employment records, and, Duncan, just keep this yo-yo entertained somehow.

How am I supposed to keep him entertained?

I don't know.

Get him to tell you about himself, share his truths.

See if he pees sitting down.

[Door closes]

Hey, Diaz, what's the status?

Riot squad hasn't caught up to you yet?

No, they have not.

I, uh... I lost my inmate.

She got a key.

She locked me down here.

All right, I'm coming to get you out.

I'm coming, too. I'm done hanging out here.

Sir, two words.

Eye patch?

Depth perception.

Okay. Okay, be careful, Diaz.

You got anything?

Yeah.

Rochelle Dawber is in for a D.U.I. and hit and run.

She was also charged with manslaughter in the accident, but those charges were dropped.

Why? Plea bargain.

She had another D.U.I. two years ago and stalking and criminal harassment charges in 2010.

Also dropped.

Huh. She's got a history of weaseling her way out of trouble.

What about Donnelly?

There were a number of complaints filed against him by other guards saying he was giving her special privileges.

One inmate said she saw them having sex.

How do we get him to talk?

We wing it.

[Door buzzes]

Mr. Donnelly.

We've been talking to an inmate you're familiar with.

I'm familiar with a lot of inmates.

We mean the one you're sleeping with... Rochelle Dawber.

Unless you're sleeping with a lot of inmates.

What's Rochelle say?

A lot, actually.

We have an officer with her right now.

They spent the morning together.

You know, she's a sweet girl.

Mm, and since she's getting ready to leave the prison, sounds like she's got a lot to say.

What are you talking about?

We know you lied about seeing Kenzie s*ab Jodi Robbins.

Why would I lie about that?

'Cause you did it yourself.

What?

Why would I shank some chick in the shower?

I don't know, but you should probably call your lawyer,

'cause if this lead pans out, you're looking at second-degree m*rder minimum.

Hey, how do you think they treat former guards when they're in prison?

Ooh, not so good.

Hey, look, I didn't s*ab anyone.

I might've said I saw something I didn't see, but that's it.

Officer Moore, can you get started on that warrant, please?

Absolutely.

No, wait, hey! Wait! Wait! Look.

If Rochelle is pointing the finger at me, it's 'cause she wants to take the attention off of herself, okay?

What do you mean?

Jodi wanted a favor from me, so I got a little favor from her, if you know what I mean.

But then Rochelle caught us together.

She freaks, she goes nuts, she thinks that Jodi's encroaching on her territory.

She's acting like an animal.

Okay, so what are you saying... that Rochelle stabbed Jodi?

If that's true, why would Jodi lie?

Why would she blame her best friend?

'Cause Rochelle forced her to.

She said that she'd k*ll Kenzie if Jodi didn't play along.

Jodi freaked.

Why did you go along with it?

[Sighs]

She got me by the balls, okay?

Look, when I first met her, I didn't think much.

Okay? A ballerina type.

I did her a couple of favors. I liked her.

Then I found out what she's really like.

And what does that mean? What is she really like?

Rochelle's a sociopath.

Not kidding, man. Bitch is crazy.

If she wants Jodi to pay, she's gonna pay.

And if anyone gets in her way, she'll k*ll them.

Okay. Here.
