04x16 - Stop Emma

Post by bunniefuu »

- Everybody'’s turning on me, Jax.

- Not me. - I can'’t--

I don'’t want to lose my friends over this.

- If it'’s not worth it,

just say the word, and we'’ll stop.

- To have my mother again?

Of course it'’s worth it.

But I have to do it fast, or it'’ll be too late

to get the others back.

- Okay, so how do we get this done quickly?

- With more power.

Maddie wasn'’t enough.

It has to come from

one of the most powerful witches around.

- You already have Maddie'’s powers

and the Council'’s powers.

You won'’t even take mine.

There are no more powerful wizards or witches left.

- Yes, there are.

Your dad.

- [scoffs]

[laughing]

That'’s funny.

Wait, you'’re serious?

- Very serious.

And unlike Maddie and the Council,

when I take his powers...

I'’m keeping them.

- Em, he could crush us.

- Not both of us.

If we use our magic at the same time,

like at Maddie'’s, he won'’t be able to fight us.

- I'’m listening.

- I'’ll get the power I need for the Tambian Orb,

and your dad will be powerless.

Your family will be safe.

- It might stop all this craziness.

- Jax, I need you on board.

- Let'’s do it.

Let'’s strip Jake Novoa

of his powers...

forever.

Which you can'’t do,

since you obviously didn'’t see the sign outside

that clearly said "closed."

- I saw people, so I came in.

Is this a magical gathering?

Are you guys casting spells?

- Hah, if only.

- Is that magical potion?

Will it make my powers grow quicker?

Can I have some?

- It'’s seltzer water.

- Whoa, cool!

Is it like liquid magic?

- No, it'’s like water with bubbles.

Jax will eventually find out.

- Okay, everybody stay calm.

I'’ll call Mia. She might know what to do.

she could physically help stop Emma from casting her spell.

- Finally, a plan.

- I'’m sure she'’s fine.

She probably just went for a walk or something.

She'’s a young kid who'’s been cooped up here for days.

- But what if she'’s not okay?

She'’s alone and unprotected.

[phone chirps]

Well, that'’s weird.

- Is it Jessie?

- No, it'’s the Council.

- The Council?

What do they want with you?

- They want me to meet them in the nurse'’s office tonight.

They probably just wanna yell at me for something.

- Who cares?

They don'’t have powers anymore, remember?

- To be honest, I don'’t even really remember

what I did this time.

I'’ve been with you pretty much every day.

- That'’s probably what it is!

To turn you against me,

like the others.

- [laughs]

Relax.

They can yell at me as much as they want.

It doesn'’t mean I'’m going to listen.

- Do you want me to go with you?

- Nah, it'’s fine.

I can handle it.

You got enough on your plate.

- Be careful.

- You too.

- So he froze her,

but he can'’t unfreeze her?

- Correct.

- And you came all the way up to Vero

to tell me that?

- Not exactly, um...

I feel terrible about the last time we talked.

I shouldn'’t have brought up your parents like that.

It was insensitive.

- No, I'’m sorry.

When I heard you say my parents were alive

in another life, I freaked.

The thought of it...

it made me realize how much I miss them.

- Well...

I'’ll never talk about it again.

Other than just now.

I also wanted to talk to you about Emma.

- Seriously?

You just apologized for upsetting me

and then bring up the person that made me mad to begin with?

- It'’s not like that.

You see, she'’s gone off the deep end.

She stole Maddie'’s powers.

- [laughing]

Sorry, but that'’s probably an improvement.

- She stole the Council'’s powers too.

Turned her back on Andi,

lied to Diego.

She even told me she'’d help me get my--

our life back, and she'’s done nothing.

- Hold on.

You asked her to send you back

to your other life?

- I asked her to send me back to the place

where you and I were together.

Where your--

she'’s talking crazy.

She wants to reverse time or something.

And if she does,

who knows how many lives she'’ll ruin?

- But this time reverse,

it could get us back to the Everglades?

- No, they'’re two different things.

- Oh. - I mean, they'’re related...

Did you just say "get us back"?

[mysterious music]

- Hello?

I got your message.

Oh, come on, you'’ve got me here.

Now show yourselves.

- Please, Jax.

Give me a second to explain.

[tense music]

- Handcuffs?

- You don'’t trust me.

Use them.

Go ahead.

Without my hands, I'’ll be powerless.

- New plan: I hit you with a spell

and turn you into a bedtime stuffed animal for Jessie.

And you know she sweats in her sleep.

- You could do that.

Or you could let me say what I need to say,

and if you still wanna...

turn me into a sweat rag,

I won'’t stop you.

- Go ahead.

I'’m all ears.

- I'’m not sure I understand.

What do you need me for?

- Emma is way too powerful for any of us.

We thought that maybe you could use your powers

to physically stop her from casting a spell

to turn back time.

- But you asked her to send us back in time,

to our other life?

- Right,

but they'’re not the same thing.

- Yeah, but you said they were related.

- Right, I mean, they are,

but it--it'’s complicated.

- Daniel, I really want to help you,

but I can'’t.

- What? Why not?

- If there'’s a chance, even a small chance

Emma can send me back to a life with my parents,

why would I get in her way?

Why would you get in her way?

- What I'’m about to tell you might sound crazy

and will clash with everything you'’ve been told.

But I ask you to keep an open mind and let--

- Is this going to be a long story...

or a short story?

- Me finish.

- Get on with it.

- Jax, your mother,

she'’s...a witch.

- [laughing]

Good one.

Oh, wait...

That wasn'’t a joke.

- I'’m afraid not.

Your mother comes from a small coven

of simple wizards and witches

from the Midwest.

By her teenage years,

she was far more advanced than everyone,

including her elders.

[heartfelt music]

[zapping]

[applause]

She would soon become coven leader

by the age of ,

a first for that time.

She was so powerful,

no one in the coven dared to cross her.

And at such a young age, her powers only grew.

[zapping]

But tremendous power also leads to tremendous trouble.

The Realm soon grew tired of her careless

and arrogant attitude.

- Well, what about Jax?

He has strong powers and knows how to control them.

- He would never turn against Emma.

Yeah, we have a better sh*t of these two

learning how to dress themselves.

- Plus, it'’s too risky.

If he says no, he'’s definitely

going to tell Emma, and then she'’ll know

we'’re all plotting against her.

- And... [clears throat]

She'’s a...

[coughing] Powerful...witch.

- Who'’s getting stronger by the day.

- Mm-hmm. - I got it!

- Any other ideas?

Going once, twice?

Sophie, let'’s see how this turns out.

- Let'’s put Emma on a celebrity reality show!

- Yep, exactly how I expected, okay.

- Think about it-- we could have our own!

Rich Witches of Miami Beach.

Dancing with the Witches.

Witch Intervention--

No, Witcher-Vention!

- How would that possibly help?

- Um, because being a reality star is hard work.

She wouldn'’t have time to be one

and be stealing powers.

- Are all humans like this?

- Ha! Coming from the guy who can'’t tie his own shoe.

- Bunny ears are hard!

- Actually, Sophie might be onto something.

ALL: What?

- Not the reality show part.

But an intervention?

I mean, this whole time we'’ve been trying

to figure out ways to match Emma'’s powers,

but what if we don'’t even have to fight her?

What if we just have to show her

how much we care about her?

- Hmm... appeal to her good side.

- Exactly.

You know, Emma'’s a really good person.

We just have to bring that side of her back.

- Hmm, boring.

- The Emma we all know puts her friends and family first.

Maybe if we show her how much

this could possibly affect us all,

it could possibly stop her.

Yes?

- Can we still call it a Witcher-Vention?

- Fine, Sophie.

- Yeah!

- Okay, we regroup in the morning.

- Yeah.

[ominous music]

- Okay, go.

[zapping]

Oh, you set off the sprinklers!

Nice job!

- Aah!

Oh, hey--look! It'’s working!

[laughs]

- This isn'’t over, Cruz!

- Your mother knew the Realm was after her

and wanted to strip her powers,

so she fled to Australia,

a place where she was unknown.

The Novoas have always been a powerful family,

and she knew, together, our children

would wield tremendous power.

Your mother planned all along to have children

who would be powerful enough to overthrow the Realm.

- Wait, wait, wait.

You were the one who was mad at her

for wanting to take over the Realm?

- Of course.

I couldn'’t let that happen.

- Small point.

You were the one who tried to use me

to use my girlfriend to take over the Realm.

- I'’ve had my problems with how the Realm was run,

but I only ever wished to make it stronger

by leading it,

not have it fall in the wrong hands

to be destroyed.

Mature witches are more powerful

than even the most powerful wizards.

She had Jessie, and she was biding her time

until Jessie'’s powers would come back.

I'’ve been looking for her ever since.

- Good story...

told by one manipulative storyteller.

- No, Jax, don'’t you see?

That'’s why I was never around.

I was searching for Jessie.

It wasn'’t only business.

It was family.

- And I suppose that'’s why you never told me about Jessie?

Was that family too?

- I did it to protect you.

I didn'’t want you to get your hopes up.

I hadn'’t seen Jessie in years.

- No...

I don'’t believe it.

- And that day she showed up at our door...

for the first time in so long,

I had hope.

Hope that I would finally be with both my children.

That'’s why I set up the alarms and traps--

to protect you both.

I know you'’re mad,

but I'’d rather you be mad and safe

than the other way around.

But now...

[chuckles]

We'’re back to square one.

Your mother has Jessie,

she'’s turned you against me,

and you better believe that she still wants

to overthrow the Realm.

Where are you going?

- I...

I don'’t know.

Just need to think about this.

- Jax, there'’s nothing to think about.

What I'’m telling you is the truth!

We need to stop wasting time

and stop her!

[somber music]

[zapping]

- Aah!

- Shh!

- What are you doing here?

FRANCISCO: Emma? Are you okay in there?

- I'’m fine, Dad.

- I'’m sorry, I-- I just had to talk.

I just had the freakiest conversation with my dad.

- Oh, no.

Does he have Jessie?

- No, no, no, no.

It'’s about my mom,

and if it'’s true, it could be a lot worse.

- Oh, no, he has your mom!

That poor woman.

- Shhh. No, no, no, my dad.

He said that-- [phone chirps]

Are you not interested?

- It'’s Andi.

She wants to meet me at The Seven

before school tomorrow?

Probably to beg for my forgiveness...

for being a jerk!

Or talk about how she wants to be a guardian.

Either way, not interested.

- You sure about that?

- Fine, Jax.

If you want me to meet with her so bad,

I will.

Happy?

- Sure.

- So your mom?

- No, it'’s my dad, he said that...

He said that my mom'’s a witch.

- What? - Shh!

FRANCISCO: Emma? Was that you?

- That can'’t be true.

- Well, that'’s what I said.

But he seemed pretty convincing.

- Jax, he'’s trying to manipulate you.

That'’s what he does.

You can'’t fall for it this time.

- You could be right, it'’s just that--

- Speaking of your dad, did you check on that witch trap?

- No, but I can check it them tonight when I get them.

[knocking on door]

FRANCISCO: Em?

- Go, right now!

Get out of here.

- Okay.

That sounded like a pretty live yell to me.

- Nope.

Nobody'’s yelling.

There'’s nothing strange going on in here.

- You'’re home. - [gasps, groans]

You scared me!

- Twice in one day.

Still got it, Jax.

- Glad one of us thinks it'’s funny.

- [chuckles]

Where were you?

You scared me half to death.

You'’re supposed to be inside, where it'’s safe.

- Safe can get boring.

And if it'’s Dad you'’re worried about, don'’t be.

I told you, he would never hurt me.

- Actually...

he paid me a little visit tonight.

- Where is he? Can I see him?

- He'’s at school.

- Parent-teacher conference?

What did you do this time?

- No, Jessie.

He told me something about Mom.

- Fine.

Yes, she likes show tunes.

I know it'’s embarrassing, but she is who she is.

- Show tunes? What?

No.

Really?

No, no, no, no.

Jessie...

Dad told me that Mom is a witch.

- What?

That'’s ridiculous.

Mom'’s not a witch. - I know.

But what if she is?

- Then she'’s been lying to me for as long I'’ve known her.

- Well, somebody'’s not telling the truth.

I just don'’t know which one it is.

- I don'’t know.

I do know!
