and welcome to the Dragon Island Duel.

Today, two Monster Machines will race across an island jungle

to the finish line at the top of Mount Dragon.

[steam hisses]

[cheers and applause]

And now, let's meet our two racers.

He's fast. He's fleet.

He's been known to cheat.

It's Crusher.

- Yay. - Yeah.

Yay! Whoo-hoo!

Go Crusher!

Thank you. How you doing?

And in lane two--

He's brave, he's true,

and with AJ there's nothing he can't do.

I got a high tire from Blaze.

I'm, like, never gonna wash this tire, like, ever again.

[engine roars, mud splatters]

[sputters]

Oops. [giggles]

* He can't get up the dragon before me *

[laughing]

I should try my biggest cheat ever.

I'll make something to bounce Blaze right out of the race...

[zooming]

A robo bouncy ball.

[Crusher laughs]

Now I better hurry and get back to the race.

[rocks rumbling, crashing]

[engine grinding]

Hubcaps. I can't get out.

[all gasping]

What a terrible turn of events.

With Blaze stuck in that cave,

he can't race in the Dragon Island Duel.

[giggling]

My cheating finally worked.

Blaze is trapped.

Now no one can stop me from winning the race.

Except me.

I'm gonna rescue Blaze and get him back to the race.

[laughs]

You're gonna rescue Blaze all by yourself?

[laughs]

You'll see, Crusher.

Hmm, I've got to find some way

to get across without falling into the water.

(A.J.) Hey, check it out--

slippery slides.

I bet if I slide down the right one,

it can launch me to the next rock over there.

Come on.

Let's do an investigation.

We're gonna figure out which slide I should take.

Here, I'll roll a coconut down each slide,

and you look carefully to see where they land.

Look carefully.

[coconuts whirring]

[coconut splashes]

(A.J) Which coconut made it to the rock?

The green coconut. Yeah.

This slide launched it all the way over.

The yellow coconut splashed down into the water,

so we definitely don't want to go that way.

All right. We made it.

Let's do a new investigation.

We've got to figure out

which slide can get us to that rock over there.

Hmm, which slide do you think'll get us there?

Well, let's use these coconuts and find out.

[coconuts whirring]

(A.J.) Which coconut made it to the other side?

The yellow one-- it went down this slide.

Come on. Let's go the same way.

Whee! Yeah!

Whew. Just one more jump to go.

Which slide do you think'll get us there?

The green coconut, and it went down this slide.

Yes, we made it all the way across.

[phone beeping]

Look, we're getting a call.

(A.J.) Blaze.

(A.J.) Loud and clear, buddy.

I just can't find a way out of this cave.

I keep trying to knock these rocks out of my way,

but...

[grunting, engine grinding]

they're too big.

Don't worry, Blaze.

We've got to hurry and get Blaze out of there,

or else Crusher's gonna win the Dragon Island Duel.

[steam hisses]

remember how you thought A.J. couldn't rescue Blaze

all by himself?

Well, look at what a great job he's doing.

[Crusher clunks against tree]

Yep, nothing's stopping that kid.

Well, I bet I know something that'll stop him.

[zooming]

What are those things?

I call them laser bugs.

These bugs will definitely stop A.J.

I mean, there's no way a kid can get past lasers.

[laser bugs buzzing]

Those bugs are blocking our path with laser beams.

It's a beam of light so powerful that it can cut through stuff.

[laser fires]

Whoa, we better do an investigation.

We need to find something that laser beams can't cut through.

Hmm.

Here's a branch.

Do you think the laser beams can cut through a branch?

Well, let's find out.

Oh, laser bugs, see if you can cut through this.

[laser pings]

Yikes, it cut right through the branch.

We better try something else.

Look, a steel pipe.

It's stronger than a branch.

Do you think the laser beam can cut through this pipe?

Okay, let's try it.

Hey, laser bugs, try and cut through this.

[laser buzzes]

Whoa, it cut through the pipe too.

These laser beams can cut through almost anything,

so maybe we should try something different

like bouncing the laser beams away...

With this, a mirror.

(A.J.) Lasers are powerful beams of light,

and when light hits a mirror, it reflects and bounces away.

Do you think our mirror can bounce away the laser beam?

Well, let's find out.

[laser whooshes]

Did the mirror bounce away the laser beam?

Yes.

And now if I turn the mirror...

[laser fires]

All right.

It bounced right back to the laser bug.

Now come on.

Let's use our mirror to get past the other laser bugs.

There are seven laser bugs left.

and get back to the race.

There's got to be something around here that can help us.

Hey, look--tools.

I bet one of these can break through rocks.

Hmm.

There's a saw, a hammer, and a drill.

Which tool do you think can break through the rocks?

Yeah?

Well, let's do an investigation and see.

First, I'll try the saw.

[saw grinding]

Did the saw break through the rock?

No, the saw couldn't cut it.

Let's try the hammer.

[hammer pounding]

Did the hammer break through the rock?

Uh-uh.

Let's try the drill.

[drill whirring]

(Blaze) Did the drill break through the rock?

Yeah, look, it made a hole.

But to make a hole big enough for me to get out of here,

we're gonna need a giant drill.

Yeah, what we need is

a roadheader tunneling machine.

They have humongous drills

that are great for digging tunnels.

Come on. Let's build one.

First, we need a cutter head.

That's the part that spins really fast

and cuts through the rocks.

To build a cutter head, say "cutter head."

Cutter head!

[cutter head grinding]

Now, we need a boom that can move the cutter head around.

To make the boom, say "boom."

Boom!

Great.

Now, we just need a conveyor belt.

It catches all the little broken pieces of rock

and moves them out of our way.

To build the conveyor belt, shout "conveyer belt."

Conveyer belt!

Oh, yeah!

I'm a tunnel-drilling Monster Machine!

[roadheader whirring]

(A.J.) Whoo-hoo! It's working.

[roadheader grinding]

[rocks crumbling]

All right. We made it.

Way to go, Blaze.

I knew you could do it.

But I couldn't have done it without you.

You're the best friend a Monster Machine could ever have.

[horn fanfare]

That sound means the race is about to start.

We've got to hurry back to the starting line

before it's too late.

A.J., give me some speed.

[tires squealing]

- Whoo-hoo! - Yeah!

[indistinct chatter]

Get ready, folks.

It's time to start the rate.

Uh...

But since Blaze isn't here,

I suppose Crusher will just race by himself.

[giggles]

* I'm gonna win the race 'cause I sent Blaze away *

* And then you're gonna be surprised *

* When you see who's coming this way *

(announcer) It's Blaze!

He's back just in time for the start of the race.

Oh, yeah!

All right, Blaze.

Hey, Crusher, you miss me?

Racers, start your engines.

[engines revving]

First one to the finish line at the top of Mount Dragon wins.

[laughs] That's totally gonna be me.

I don't think so, Crusher.

(announcer) On your marks, get set, go!

(all) [chanting] Blaze, Blaze, Blaze, Blaze, Blaze.

Go, Crusher!

[engines grinding]

We're almost at the top of Mount Dragon.

[steam hisses]

[tires squealing]

But I've got to win this race.

Hey, I know what I should do.

I should cheat one last time.

[giggles]

[stone pounds]

(A.J.) Look out.

[tires squealing]

(Blaze) Whoa-ho!

Whoa!

[exhales] Whoo, that was close.

Looks like I'm gonna be the first one to the finish line.

We can still b*at Crusher.

Come on, Blaze, it's time for some blazing speed.

[whooshing]

Help me give Blaze the power to go super fast.
