-Okay, there's this really bad
dude named Hacker.

-The Hacker to you!
-Whatever.

He wants to take over
the cyberworld from Motherboard.

-[ Gasps ]

-But three kids are sucked
into Cyberspace,

and they use brain power
to help save everybody.

-Okay, here's the plan.

-So they travel all over and run
into all these weird creatures

and have all these
awesome adventures.

It's totally up to them
to save Cyberspace.

Can three cool kids and a wacky
bird outsmart The Hacker?

-Never!

-There's only one way
to find out!

Tune in to "Cyberchase"!

-♪ Cyberchase, we're moving ♪

♪ We're b*ating Hacker
at his game ♪

♪ Don't tell me that he's trying
to hack the motherboard ♪

♪ We'll get him every time ♪

♪ Cosmic worlds, freaky places
that we've seen ♪

I can't eat, I can't sleep,
I can't think.

My genius mind is a jumble!

Oh!

-The boss' mind is a jungle?

-He said a "jumble"!

-Oh!

That's not good.

You okay, Boss?

-Do I look okay?

All this pressure to take over
Cyberspace is getting to me!

I've never seen the boss
so stressed, Deedee.

I feel really bad for him.

-Oh!

-Me, too, Buzzy.

[ Gasps ] Maybe he could try
my bunny slippers.

They always make me feel good.

-Hmm. I think maybe
he just needs "boss time."

You know, time to unwind,
relax, and de-stress.

-But...how?

Mount Bear Fresh Water Spa?

-It says here
it has a whole bunch

of relaxing water treatments --

hydrotherapy, waterfall
wind-down, soothing whirlpools,

all with freshwater
from Mount Bear River!

-But, Buzzy,
look how much it costs!

-Don't worry, Deedee.
I'll pay for it.

[ Coins jingle ]

Anything for the boss.

-I'll help pay for it, too.

[ Coin jingles ]

For the boss!

-[ Groans ]

-Boss!

We have a surprise for you!

-For me?

-It's gonna make you feel
so much better!

-I doubt it.

[ Water running,
birds chirping ]

[ Sighs deeply ]

Coming here
was a stroke of genius.

My mind is already
bubbling with ideas

to defeat Motherboard.

Thank you, Buzz.

-Aw, shucks.

-I helped, too.

-We just want
what's best for you.

[ Alarm sounds ]

-Huh?

What? What happened?

Where's the warm water?

[ Drain gurgles ]

[ Shivers ]
I was just starting to relax!

My ideas, they're going
down the drain!

-Why did my hydrotherapy stop?!

-My whirlpool ran out of water!

-The freshwater pool
has no water!

-Please, everyone, bear with me.
[ Chuckles nervously ]

I'm trying to figure out
what happened.

This is highly unusual.

-The boss was so relaxed.
Now look at him!

-My mind -- kaput.

No ideas. None.

-Buzzy, you gotta do something!

-[ Grunts ]

Listen, Jules, we're going to
need this place

up and running...now!

-Yeah, Jules!
-Do something!

-Fix it now!

-Please, no need to be upset.

I'm looking into
the problem now.

The water will be back shortly.

I hope.

-We need a problem solver,
Deedee,

someone who always comes through
when you need 'em.

-Yeah, someone who
can save the day.

But who?

-I know!

-Hey!
-Oh, hi!

Hey, Digit! It's Buzz.

-Buzz?
-Yeah, that Buzz.

Wait, wait, wait, don't hang up!
I need help.

I mean, Mount Bear needs help.

-So, wait...

tell me this again.

-I, uh...
I need you to help the boss.

-You said Mount Bear needs help.

-No way we're helping Hacker!

-But I feel really bad.

It was my idea for the boss
to come here to relax,

and now there's no water, and
he's more stressed than ever.

Delete is trying to help him,
but, of course, it's
not working.

-I don't know how to
tell you this, Buzz,

but no.

-[ Panting ]

[ Breathlessly ] Wow!
Am I glad that you're all here!

-Jules? You work here now?

-I do.

And the spa is out of water,

and I don't have a clue why,
and all my guests are upset!

-Well, this changes things.

We have to help Jules.

-I don't get it. How does
a water spa run out of water?

-I wish I knew.
All I know right now

is the water comes from there,
Mount Bear River.

-Um...
is the river usually that low?

I mean, you can see the pipes.

-I know.

There's usually about four times
more water than that.

-Huh. That means there's about
one-fourth of the water

that's supposed to be there.

That's bad. Right?

-Yeah, that's bad.

-So where did all
the river water go?

-Maybe if we knew
where it came from,

we'd have a better idea.

-Well, I can help with that.

The river starts
way North of here,

up at the peak of Mount Bear.

The water flows down
the mountain,

all the way here to the spa.

-The peak of Mount Bear --

Sounds like a good place to
start looking for the problem.

-Whoa!
That's a long way up.

How do you even get there?

-The Mount Bear lift, of course.

-Wow!

-Great! Come on!

We gotta help the boss.

-Hold it!
We are not helping Hacker.

We are helping Jules.

-On behalf of Mount Bear

I thank you.

-But I was the one
who called you.

-We're on it, Buzz.
You stay with Hacker.

-[ Grunts ]

-This is beautiful!

-Top of Mount Bear!

[ Both grunt ]

-[ Grunts ]

-[ Grunts ]

[ Clears throat ]
[ British accent ] E-Excuse me.

Is this the top of Mount Bear?

-Buzz?

-Uh, sorry,
you must be mistaken.

[ Normal voice ] Hi.

-Buzz, we told you,
we're here to help Jules.

-Right, of course.
I want to help Jules, too.

And the boss.

-Okay, you're here,
so you can help.

But no mention of you know who.

-Hacker?

Sorry.

-Okay.
Mount Bear River starts up here.

[ Bird calls ]

-Check it out.

All these creeks and streams
are flowing into each other

to create Mount Bear River.

-Yep, that's the way it works.

All this land around the water
is called a watershed.

-A water what?

-A watershed.
It's kind of like a funnel.

It's the land that helps water
from rain and melted snow

drain into one place,
like a river.

My teacher Ms. Simmons
told us all about them.

She's really cool.

-So if all the water

is flowing into the river
like it's supposed to,

what's the problem?

-Whatever it is,
it's gotta be somewhere

between here and the spa.

-So, let's follow the water!

-Cybersquad: For Jules!

-For the boss!

Whoa! Oh!

Oops!

Uh, slight problem, you guys!

Aah!

[ All gasp ]

-Run!

-Run!
-Aah!

[ All panting ]

-[ Grunts, breathes heavily ]

Uh, sorry.
That was really close.

-It's okay. It was an accident.

-The water seems to be
flowing fine here.

-And it seems to be at the right
level, unlike at the spa.

-And the plants and grass
all look green and healthy,

just like they should be.

-I even see some fishies.

Hey, fishies.

Okay, then, we don't
see a problem here

at the top of the mountain.

That's what this smiley face
is for.

But we think the problem
is somewhere

between here and the spa,

where things are not so good.

-Maybe to find the problem
with the river,

we need to be on the river.

-Wow!

-Didge is right. The closer
we are to the problem,

the better chance
we have to solve it.

-Okay, let's search for clues!

-Here, take these.

Buzz, hop in.

-[ Giggles ]

♪♪

Don't worry, Boss!

We're gonna get your water back!

-Don't worry, Jules!

We're gonna save the spa!

-Do something!
-Fix it now!

-This is unacceptable, Jules!

-Just wait until
I write my YIP review!

-Please, please, don't worry.

The problem is being resolved
as we speak.

In the meantime, uh,

please enjoy
our calming kiddie pool.

[ Whistle blows ]
No splashing...please.

-Okay, Boss, relax.

Imagine you're lying on a cloud

under a warm,
gentle waterfall...

-Mother...

-[ Growls ]

-They're gone now, Boss.
Just relax.

Feel the waterfall dripping
and dripping and dripping...

-So, uh, what kind of clues
are we looking for?

-Anything that looks like
it could be part of the water
problem.

-Got it, Matty!

[ Gasps ] I see something!

-Where?

-There!

-Didge, is it a clue?

-No! It's a waterfall!

[ All screaming ]

I don't think that was a clue.

-It wasn't. But that is!

Look where all this water
is going!

-Wow. The river spread
into the floodplain.

-Floodplain?

-It's the land next to a river

that holds the extra water
when rivers overflow.

-I don't get it.

Down near the spa,
there's hardly any water,

but up here,
there's too much water.

-How is that possible?
-Don't know yet.

Inez, how much further
to the spa?

-Map break!

-Hmm.
I'm not sure where we are.

-Anything on the map
about a big boulder

shaped like a dog
or a gorilla?

-Oh, yes!
Big Bear Boulder!

That puts us right here,

near the bottom
of Bear Mountain,

getting closer to the spa.

-That marker says the river
is supposed to be

six cyberfeet deep here.

-Hmm.
Looks deeper than that to me.

-Well, let's see how deep
it really is, shall we?

It's eight cyberfeet deep here.

-That's two cyberfeet deeper
than the sign says.

-Yes, I knew it!

-Good observation, Buzz.

So the water level
is higher than normal

but not too much higher.

That calls for another face.

Not a happy one,
but not a sad one, either.

[ Cellphone chimes ]
-Huh?!

Hello?
-Hello?

-Buzzy, the boss is not happy!

-Didge, please say you found
the water problem!

My guests are terribly upset.

-And he's stressing out,
so I'm stressing out,

so he's stressing out!

Is the water fixed yet?

-And I'm running out of ways
to keep them happy.

-We're working on it!
-We're working on it!

The boss is still stressed,

and we haven't found
the problem yet!

-And it doesn't sound like
Jules can hold out much longer!

-Don't worry, Buzz!
It'll be okay.

-Yeah.
We'll figure this out.

-[ Sniffles ] You promise?

-"And then
the big blue baby bunny

hopped and hopped and hopped"...

-And hopped?

-Yeah! And hopped...

-This is unacceptable!
-The afternoon is almost over!

-You ruined my spa day!
-Jules!

-I'm more stressed
than before I got here!

-Hey, everyone!
I have an idea.

Wanna listen to a story?
It might relax you a little.

-[ Sighs ] Sure.
-Okay.

-You, too, Jules.

-Um, okay.

Maybe just a little break.

"And the bunny hopped

-The flooding is even worse
down here.

-The plants and flowers
are almost underwater!

-The water's so deep that, look,
even that bridge is underwater.

-Yikes!

The water goes all the way
into the forest!

Hang in there, little bear.

-What's going on?!

-All I can tell you is,
the water is everywhere.

-Wow!

That is one tall tree.

-Guess what! It's actually
called Really Tall Tree.

And that puts us right here.

-Look!
Another water marker.

-According to that,
the water's supposed to be

seven cyberfeet deep here.

-Depth check coming up!

The water here
is cyberfeet deep, not !

-Wow!
So, what do we know?

Whoa!

Jax, don't pace.

-Ooh! Oh, yeah.
Right.

So, up the river,

the water was supposed to be
six cyberfeet deep,

and it was actually eight.

Here, it's supposed to be
cyberfeet deep, and it's !

What does that tell us?

-The flooding is even worse here
than up there!

-That it is, Buzz.

-Not good. Not good at all.

This spot gets a sad face.

-The question is, why is
the flooding getting worse

the farther down
the river we go?

-And how is that even possible

when there's almost no water
near the spa?

-We could find out soon.

We're coming up on a place
called -- ah! -- Beartown.

-I wonder what we'll find there.

-Maybe the key
to solving this mystery!

-Wow! The water's
all the way up to the dock.

-It's starting to look like
the whole Mount Bear watershed

is in trouble.

-Yeah, there's too much water

for so many of the plants
and animals up the river...

-And barely enough for
all the plants and animals

down the river by the spa.

-And don't forget the boss!

He doesn't have any water,
either.

I mean, uh,
no one at the spa does.

-[ Snoring ]

-"And the bunny hopped
and hopped and hopped and"...

-Huh.
Looks like everyone in Beartown

is getting ready
for a big flood.

-Looks like
they already had one.

-Huh.

I wonder
if there's something wrong

with these storm drains.

Water's supposed to go down in
to them, not form a puddle.

-Excuse me.
Did it just rain here?

-Nope. Water in the streets
is nothing new here.

Oh, it goes away eventually.

-Yeah, it's gotten
a lot worse recently.

Right, Jo-Jo?

-Sometimes the flooding
is so bad,

school is canceled and
the playground goes underwater.

Another bottle!

[ Grunting ]

Oh, missed it!

-Not to worry.

It'll just wash away
with everything else.

-Everything else?

-Uh, do you know where
all the water and litter

that goes down these drains
ends up?

-Hmm. I recall one time
seeing where it all went.

-I know! All the water
from these little drains

goes to the big drain.

-Can you show us
where the big drain is?

-Sure! Come on!

-"And the bunny hopped
and hopped and hopped and hopped

all the way down to the river
for a relaxing swim."

The end.

-The end?

-The bunny gets
a relaxing swim?!

-But we don't?!

-All: What about that Jules?

-Yes.
Checking on it right away!

-Hey, Boss! Wait for me!

-There's the big drain.

-Whoa!

-And there's a big dam!

-[ Gasps ]

-It's totally made
out of trash --

plastic bags, bottles,
and some branches and rocks!

-I can't believe it.

All this litter came down
through the storm drains in town

and emptied out here,
making this dam.

-And it backed up
all those storm drains in town.

-There's that bottle you missed!

-Gee, I had no idea
it was this bad.

-That's the problem.

All that trash is stopping
the water from flowing.

-Now I see what happened.

The dam at Beartown
stopped the water in the river

from going South,
toward the spa,

so the water backed up and
flooded the watershed up North.

Double sad.

-This mess has caused a problem
for the river, the watershed,

and every animal
and plant around.

-Not to mention
everyone who lives here.

-We need to clear away the dam
so the river can flow again.

-When we do that, the floodwater
should go down, too.

-Alright, let's clean up
this trash!

-I was just gonna say that!

-My family will help!

-Awesome!
-Oh, yeah!

Mount Bear River
is flowing again!

-Jules, has the water
reached the spa yet?

-Deedee, is the water back yet?

-[ Sighs ]
-Ahh!

-Affirmative, Didge.

The water is back [sighs]
and everyone's happy!

-It's back, Buzzy.
The boss is de-stressing!

You're our hero!

-Ahh! I'm a hero!

I'm a hero!

I mean, uh, actually,
we are all heroes!

Bottle coming!

-Got it!

-You know,
the Mount Bear watershed

is going to be
in trouble again

if Beartown keeps letting litter
clog its storm drains.

-Yeah! You're right, Matt.

We need to help them
make some changes.

-But how?
-I know!

I made a sign for Deedee
so he doesn't forget

to turn off the water
while he brushes his teeth.

Maybe we can make Beartown
a sign.

-Buzz, I think
you're on to something!

-What do you think, Buzz?
This should help keep Beartown

from letting litter
down here, huh?

-Oh, yeah! For sure!

-The other storm drains
are painted, too.

-And we put out more
recycling and trash bins.

-Great!

Hopefully Beartown will stay
nice, clean, and healthy.

-And the whole Mount Bear
watershed, too.

-My family and friends
will make sure of it!

-Whew! Change is hard.

I'm exhausted.

-I have an idea.

[ Bubbling ]

-Ahh! Buzz, thank you again.

I just feel wonderful.

-You're welcome, Boss.

-Solving the water problem
was easy, right, Buzzy?

-Oh, yeah. Piece of cake.

-All in a day's work
saving Cyberspace.

[ All sigh ]

Stay right where you are.

It's Cyberchase For Real!

-I love hanging out
at my grandma's house.

I visit every summer.

It's so much fun.

I was really happy
when my friend Alex

came to visit.

-I'm so excited to go swimming!

-I'm excited, too!

I think it's so cool

that we share the lake
with other animals.

-What kind of animals?

-Well, fish, of course.

And also ducks, turtles, herons.

It's so much fun
to watch them swim and fly.

Oh, no!

-What "oh, no"?

-The lake water
has turned green.

-You're right.
-[ Sighs ]

This makes me mad,
because my grandma and I

and other people
who use the lake

are careful to keep it clean.

But sometimes the fertilizer

that people use
to make grass grow

flows into the lake.

And that causes the blue-green
algae to grow really fast.

-Algae?

You mean like the stuff
that turns fish tanks cloudy?

-Right. Algae are living things,
like plants.

Blue-green algae blooms happen
when it's really hot and rainy.

But when you see them
in the lake,

it means it's not safe.

So, we can't go swimming.

It's a problem that can spread
to other lakes

along the watershed.

-What's the watershed?

-The watershed connects
this lake

to creeks, brooks, a river,
and the ocean.

I'll show you.

When it rains,

the water flows down
nearby hills and into the creek.

Then the creek
flows into the lake.

-I see.

-Here's where we are, where
the creek flows into the lake.

At the other end,
the water spills over the dam

and flows into the brook.

-Can we see that?
-Sure!

-Wow!

-From the brook, the water
flows into another creek

and then into a river

and, eventually, the ocean!

The land surrounding
these bodies of water

is part of the watershed, too.

-So, algae in the lake
means no swimming?

-Yeah. I'm sorry.
I know you're disappointed.

But there's something else
we could do that's fun.

Down the block,
there's a tennis court.

-That's a great idea!

Courtney, it doesn't
really matter what we do.

Everything we do together
is fun.
