Chris: In the North
American southwest,

the landscape is rocky,
rugged and dry.

We're here in the
Sonoran Desert.

Martin: The land of
the saguaro cactus.

Chris: It's us the Kratt
Brothers... I'm Chris....

Martin: I'm Martin.

And in this amazing habitat...

Chris: There's an
amazing creature,

who does a really special thing.

Martin: Where are they?

Chris: I don't see them.

Martin: There!

Martin/Chris: Whoa!

Chris: Harris's hawks!

Martin: Wow, we found one.

And that means that
there's others around.

Because Harris's
hawks hunt as a pack.

Just like wolves.

Chris: They're
usually in groups

of about two to
seven individuals.

So let's see how many Harris's
hawks are in this group.

(hawk screech)
Martin, behind you.

Martin: That makes two.

(screech)

Chris, on your left.

Chris: And another!

Now we have three
Harris's hawks.

One, two, three, there's at
least three in this group.

Martin: Now that is a
pack just like a wolf.

Chris: And another
one over there.

Martin: Alright so we
have four in this pack.

This is a raptor pack.

Harris's hawks.

The pack hunters on the wing.

They are exceptional because
they're one of the only raptors

who hunt in a group

and co-ordinate and
co-operate together.

They're moving. I got
to pay attention.

Chris: Imagine if we had the
power to fly through the desert.

Martin: Imagine if we
could fly like a pack,

like a team of
hunting Raptors.

Chris: Imagine if we had
Harris's hawk powers.

Martin/Chris: What if?!

But what a funny coincidence.

My Zachbots are getting

I've employed an integrated
software system

for improved co-ordination.

Perfect for stealing some
Wild Kratts technology.

Now, what invention
do I want the most?

Hmmmm.

Decisions, decisions, decisions.

Martin: Yellow cere.

The cere is the flesh
around the beak,

bright yellow with these guys.

Brown eyes, brown feathers

with copper colored
shoulders and thighs

and yellow legs and
feet with black talons.

That's how you
identify a wolf hawk.

Koki: But why do you want
to call it a wolf hawk?

Jimmy: Yeah why?

Martin: Ok, well you
guys know wolves right?

Aviva: Yes, I love wolves.

Koki: Me too.

Aviva: Yeah remember Little
Howler and his first howl?

Ah, quelindo.

Martin: You remember
how wolves hunt, right?

Koki: Yeah in a pack.

Martin: That's right.

Together wolves hunt big animals

that would be really hard for

one wolf to take down by itself.

Martin: A moose weighs
around , pounds

and a wolf around .

Martin: So a single wolf
can't hunt a moose alone.

So wolves use teamwork
- aka - the pack.

By working together,

some wolves can push
the moose one way.

Basically driving it
to its pack mates.

Other wolves can head
it off and surround it.

And working together,
five or more wolves

can indeed take down a moose.

And it's very similar
with this hawk.

Okay, it's morning.

Now this wolf hawk
looks hungry.

I think he spotted something.

Come on!

(exciting music)

(tense music)

An antelope jackrabbit!

You can tell by the hawk's
body language, he's hunting.

Koki: It looks to me more
like he's hiding behind

a cactus than hunting.

Martin: But see that jackrabbit?

The wolf hawk is
totally focused on it.

Jimmy : So why doesn't
he just go catch it?

Martin: Because a
jackrabbit is really big.

Chris: Yeah, it can be bigger
than a Harris's hawk.

Martin: And a
jackrabbit's really fast

and in this wide open desert,

it's hard to sneak up on it,

because the jackrabbit
can see you coming.

Koki: So the hawk's
hiding behind a cactus.

Martin: Exactly.

Aviva: How's that
going to help him?

This hawk's not going
to catch a jackrabbit

if he doesn't chase him.

Jimmy: Yeah, he just
won't go up to him.

Martin: There is another way.

Aviva/Koki/Jimmy: What?

Martin: Look around.
