Have you seen Blue, my puppy?

You've got to see my new invention.

Do you want to try it out with me?

So, I was sitting here watching TV

and I thought, "you know, I just don't want to get up

to change the channel."

So I made this.

Huh? Huh? You see?

It changes the channel for you.

Watch.

[laughs]

You ever see anything like it before?

I call it "from far away channel changer thing."

[laughing...]

[clicking remote...]

[stops laughing]

Oh... right, Blue.

I guess there already is an invention

that changes channels for you.

Well, what do you call that invention?

Remote control!

[barking]

Remote control, right.

Okay, well, I'll just try to invent something new.

[barking]

Try, try again.

That's my motto.

Hey, Blue, um, do you want to invent something?

[barking]

Oh, did you already invent something?

Well, what did you invent?

Oh!

[barking]

We'll play Blue's Clues to figure out what Blue invented.

♪ 'cause it's a really great game, yeah. ♪

So remember, Blue's paw prints

will be on the clues: Blue's Clues.

Hey... hey, I have an idea.

I'll invent something to clean up this paw print.

Yeah, I'll, uh, use this cloth and I'll fold it into a square

and, uh, then I'll wipe the paw print away.

Watch this.

[glass squeaks]

Huh? Huh?

I'll think I'll call this invention "rag."

You ever heard of a rag before?

Yes!

Yeah... yeah, I guess rag's already been invented.

So, I'll just keep trying.

Try, try again.

Hey, you know what we need now?

Our handy-dandy...

Notebook!

Yup.

Hi, Side Table.

Hi, Steve.

[giggling]: Here's your notebook.

[giggling]

Oh, there's a clue on Side Table?

That would be funny.

You know what we need?

Our handy-dandy...

Okay, so, we'll draw the notebook in the notebook.

Here we go.

So, we start with the spiral up here

and then we draw a square for the cover

and then we draw a picture of the Thinking Chair.

There... our handy-dandy notebook.

I wonder what Blue could have invented with a notebook.

Do you know?

Ooh, maybe, but I think

we better keep playing Blue's Clues to figure it out.

To play Blue's Clues, we got to find a...

Paw print!

Oh, a paw print, right.

And that's our first... Clue!

A clue? A clue!

Then we put it in our... Notebook.

♪ We got to find another paw print, that's the second clue ♪

♪ We put it in our notebook, 'cause they're whose clues? ♪

♪ You know what do-- sit down in our Thinking Chair ♪

You know, I can tell I'm really going to need your help today

trying to figure out what Blue invented.

Steve! What should we do now?

I've got bread and peanut butter.

I've got bread and jelly.

Both: But we want to eat them together!

I will invent a way

so that you can eat them together.

Uh, okay, let me think.

First thing you got to do

is you've got to take the bread

with the peanut butter on it, uh-huh

and then you want to take the bread

with the jelly on it and you want to...

Uh... what could you do now?

Stick them together.

Stick 'em together!

Yeah, like, just, stick them together.

And they'll be all stuck together.

And you can call this invention

the "jelly with bread and peanut butter all stuck together."

This is brilliant!

This is an entirely new concept.

It's jelly and peanut butter together.

It's breakthrough.

It, um, ooh, ooh, ooh.

I'm seeing something with marshmallows.

Wait a minute.

Isn't there already something called

a peanut butter and jelly sandwich?

Yeah... it did sound a little bit familiar.

Well, I'll just try, try again, because that's my motto.

Shovel: Steve!

Ooh.

We heard you were inventing something.

Well, yes, actually Blue already invented something

and I'm trying... I try.

No way, really?

Blue, what did you invent?

Oh, well, we're playing Blue's Clues

to figure out what Blue invented.

Hey, we're playing a game, too.

An invention game.

Great...

So, how do we play?

These are all inventions

that help people talk to each other from far away.

We need to figure out which invention came first.

Okay, let's see.

Uh, this is a candlestick telephone.

And this is a telegraph.

And this is a cordless phone.

So, which was invented first?

That one!

[beeping]

Oh, right, the telegraph.

Steve, that was "hello" in Morse code.

You could tap out a message to someone really far away

but you had to know the code.

Then what came after the telegraph?

Hmm, do you know?

Which was invented next?

The candlestick telephone or the cordless phone?

That one!

[phone rings]

Oh, the candlestick telephone.

I see, so people could actually talk to each other.

And that one must be last.

Right, the cordless phone.

[phone beeps]

So you can walk around anywhere and talk.

[another phone beeps]

Hello?

Oh, hi, Blue.

Yeah, we're still looking for clues

but right now we're playing an invention game.

Uh-huh.

Shovel and Pail.

Okay, got to go. Bye.

Let's play again.

Look, Steve, these are all inventions

that people can use to fly from place to place.

Which invention came first?

Well, let's see, we have a jet, a biplane and a glider.

So, which was invented first?

That one.

[wind blowing]

Oh, the glider, yeah.

See how it just glides in the air.

Wow, that's a nice invention.

So, what came next?

Okay, so the glider came first.

Which was invented next-- the jet or the biplane?

That one!

[engine puttering]

Oh, yeah, the biplane.

See-- they put an engine in the plane

so it would stay in the air.

And that one must be last.

[whooshing]

Look how fast it goes!

Right, the jet plane.

See, they put an even more powerful engine in it

so it could fly even faster.

Yeah!

Hey, look!

We thought all this inventing

might make you a little thirsty.

So we brought you some lemonade.

Hey, I just had another idea for another invention.

Maybe there's a way we could invent something

so the lemonade could go right from the cup

right to your mouth without ever touching the cup.

You know, some sort of sipping, sipping tube.

Some... something just like that, Blue.

You know, we could call this invention "straw".

Huh? Huh?

You ever heard of a straw before?

Yes!

Oh, yeah... right.

I guess a straw's already been invented.

Well, I'll just try, try again.

Ooh, the mail's here.

Hey, Steve, look what I invented.

'Cause I've been working on inventing something...

Oh, you mean that thing that lets you

come all the way in here from the front yard.

and then what would you do on rainy days?

First we draw an arc

and then two swirls for the arms of the chair

a curved line for the legs

and some horizontal lines for the seat.

There-- the Thinking Chair.

So, our first clue is our notebook.

And now our second clue is the Thinking Chair.

So, what could Blue have invented

with our notebook and the Thinking Chair?

Good idea, but I think we better find our last Blue's Clue.

[Blue barking]

Now, where did Blue go?

[barking "Blue Skidoo"]

Oh, Blue just skidooed into that book all about inventions.

Let's go, too.

[barking]

We're in an invention workshop!

Look, there's blackboards and blueprints

for drawing inventions

and pipes and pulleys for building inventions.

I wonder what that's going to be.

Hey, you want to try to invent something here?

Yeah? Wonder what we can invent.

Hello, maybe you can help me.

I need to get to the store

faster than I can walk

so I figured I would invent something.

Can you help?

Oh, do you want to help sketch this invention?

[barking]

Well, I have this wheel and this handlebar.

What can I invent with these thing?

Hmm, well, what could he invent

to get to the store faster

with a wheel and a handlebar?

Now I just need to build it.

Now I just need to build it.

First we draw a circle

and some smaller circles for the toes like this.

Well, we have all three clues.

You know what that means?

We're ready to sit in our...

Let's go.

[barking "Blue Skidoo"]

Okay, now that we're in our Thinking Chair, let's...

think.

So, we're trying to figure out what Blue invented

and our clues are:

Okay, first thing I need is some tape-- got it--

and some cardboard-- all righty.

Put that like that, and then... this.

Okay, so you know how my notebook's always getting stuck?

Well, this is the "no-stick notebook holder."

See how nicely the notebook fits in there?

And then this fits very easily on your belt

so you can take it with you.

Hey, have you ever seen an invention like this?

No!

All: Ooh... wow!
