04x11 - Rumble in the Valley

Post by bunniefuu »

[Todd] Previously, on Sweet Valley High.

Sweet Valley versus Big Mesa in a fair fight.

What's the matter?

The cheerleaders found out about us

and kicked me off the team.

Devon, I've got something to do, okay?

[Devon] No, it's not okay.

You're the only one who can stop this.

It's too late, Liz.

Liz, we gotta talk.

Devon, let go of my arm.

Forget the truce, Saturday night,

Jackson's Wharf at midnight.

The fight is on.

-[upbeat music]

-[school bell ringing]

Todd, how did the truce meeting go with Big Mesa?

Oh, uh... fine.

So everything was settled?

Well, we came to an agreement.

Good, I was worried this rivalry

was getting totally out of control.

You worry too much, Liz.

I guess I don't have to now, right?

Right.

Okay, I'll see you later.

Hey Wilkins, I heard the fight with Big Mesa's back on.

Let's get ready to rumble.

Shh, not so loud.

If the girls find out, they'll blow the whole thing.

Everything's set, Saturday Jackson's Wharf, midnight.

[knocking]

Devon.

Liz, I wanna talk to you about last night.

There's nothing to talk about.

Yes, there is.

I'm sorry I grabbed your arm.

You should be.

I wish I could take back what happened, but I can't.

Here.

What's this?

Just my way of saying I'm sorry.

I can't take it.

Not because of last night, but

-

-

What?

Devon, you put a guy in the hospital

just because he knocked over your bike.

I didn't mean for that to happen.

Of course you did.

Liz, I'm not asking you to forget what I did.

I'm just, I'm just asking you to forgive me.

[dramatic music]

[door close]

So, what'll it be?

I'll take a burger, extra rare.

I'm in training for Saturday night.

Give me a burger and don't bother to k*ll it.

I can't wait to pound those guys from Big Mesa.

Man we are gonna smash 'em.

Pulverize them.

Unless of course, they pulverize us first.

Yeah, you know, maybe we can just set them down

and talk it out, you know, man to man.

You don't wanna fight either?

Well, I would if I knew what we were fighting for.

But if we back out now, we'll look like total wimps.

There's gotta be something we can do.

Hello, nummy cakes.

Hey Enid, what would you do

if you didn't wanna do something,

but you promised something that you'd do it?

Manny, is this about you coming over tonight

to help me clean out my hair brushes?

Of course not.

Well then, I guess I'd do exactly what my Uncle Howey did

when the minister asked him to paint the church.

What is that?

He slapped on a fake cast to get out of it

and went riverboat gambling instead.

Can't believe you live this close to the beach

and you've never been surfing.

Hey, do you know what kind of tan lines

these wetsuits leave?

Besides, no one ever offered to teach me.

Well, no one that looks like you.

Surf here is awesome.

There's nothing like this back in Delaware.

Do you ever miss it?

Sometimes, I miss my friends and my dad.

But I'd much rather be here, especially now.

I know what you mean.

I just wish the principal at school would lay off.

He's had it in for me ever since I moved back here.

Why?

He blames me for all the trouble between our schools.

Well, now that it's all over, he'll leave you alone.

Jessica, there's something

you should know about the rivalry.

I don't wanna talk about it anymore.

Come on, let's hit the waves.

Come on.

[pop music]

Where have you been?

I had the most amazing day with Christian.

He's teaching me how to surf.

What's this?

Oh, it's a gift from Devon.

He was apologizing for the other night.

I don't know if I'm gonna keep it.

This is supposed to make you forget

that he tried to break your arm?

Jess, he didn't try to break my arm.

Liz, I was there, remember?

I think Devon's got a real problem.

You just don't know him like I do.

Maybe he can change.

Liz, guys like Devon Whitelaw don't change.

[upbeat music]

Yeah, he's all, boom.

You think this'll work?

Well, it will as long as we stick to the plan.

Hey, what happened to you guys?

Oh, it's a long story.

But don't worry, it doesn't hurt much.

Only when our blood circulates.

Yeah, we can still fight.

If you're hurt, maybe you shouldn't fight.

Hey, why is this cast say return to the drama department?

Huh? Uh...

I'll see both of you guys Saturday night.

Can you believe them?

[boy] Yeah, wimping out.

Did Todd just say he'd see you Saturday night?

-Yeah.

-But we had plans

to go to the Chili Pepper Festival.

I already bought the Rolaids.

Well, sorry Enid, something kinda came up.

You're blowing me off to be with Todd?

Manny, that's not just upsetting, it's weird.

Enid, it's no big deal, trust me.

It's hard to trust anyone wearing a stupid fake cast.

[background chatter]

I have to give this back to you.

-Why?

-I just don't think

we should see each other anymore.

Don't do this.

I have to.

You're the only person here who's ever given me a chance.

Look, Devon, I can't handle this kind of relationship.

I just never know when you're gonna snap.

Liz, when you blew me off

in front of the school the other day,

I guess I just over reacted.

That's why I grabbed your arm.

It won't happen again.

I want to believe you, but

-

-

Look, I know I have some things to work out,

and I'm willing to do it for you.

Please, please give me another chance.

I don't know.

Just think about it.

[waves crashing]

We have the whole day together.

What do you wanna do first?

Mm. How bout this.

Okay, what do you wanna do second?

Everything.

You're on.

[upbeat music]

Hey Gorman, where you been, man?

I been looking all over for you.

What's up?

You're down for tonight?

Uh, yeah.

Look, I'll see you later.

We kinda wanna be alone.

Whatever, just be there.

Sweet Valley's going down.

Christian, I thought there was a truce.

There was.

[knocking]

Enid, what's the matter?

I think Manny's cheating on me.

Come on in.

Now tell me all about it.

First he canceled our plans for tonight.

Then today, I called him five times,

he only called me back four.

He's acting like he has something to hide.

Maybe he's just busy.

I don't think so.

I can always tell when he's lying.

His left nostril starts to twitch, like this.

Enid, Manny loves you.

There must be an explanation.

Maybe you're right.

It could be hay fever.

[sighs] Who am I kidding?

Even I don't believe that.

Something is definitely up.

Now that you mention it, I talked to Todd the other day

and he was acting a little weird, too.

Liz, what do you think's going on?

-[door closes]

-[Jess] Liz!

Jess, what's wrong?

The fight's back on.

I was just with Christian, he told me the fight's on.

They're going to Jackson's Wharf at midnight.

God, that's why Manny canceled our date.

But I thought there was a truce.

Todd and Christian wanted one,

but Devon showed up and picked a fight.

Devon?

Are you sure?

Christian told me he acted like a total psycho.

He ruined everything.

I don't understand, why would Devon do that?

I warned you about him, Liz.

The guy is totally scary.

You know, in a cute sort of way.

We've gotta do something. I'm calling the police.

You can't do that.

All those guys have already been arrested once.

Do you want them thrown in jail?

We've gotta go down to Jackson's Wharf

and try to stop this thing ourselves.

I'm in.

I'm in, too.

I have this feeling that something

really bad's gonna happen.

Maybe it already has.

-[thunder]

-[sighs]

It's almost time, are we going or not?

I don't wanna have my face rearranged.

Yeah, my parents paid a fortune

to have my teeth straightened.

But can we really live with ourselves if we don't go?

Maybe you're right.

You should go, Winston.

Don't you realize, Manny, if we don't go,

we're gonna be laughed out of school

and be branded cowards for life.

We have no choice, do we?

There's not a lot of time.

Get Big Mesa.

We'll show them how tough we can be.

Ow.

[thunder]

This place is deserted.

Figures they're not here, wimps.

[boy] Guess they're not gonna show.

[boys] Yeah.

Too bad, let's bail.

[boy] Yeah, let's get out of here, man.

[boy] Chill out.

[boy ] Hey, there they are.

[dramatic music]

Didn't think you guys had the guts to show.

Never pass up a chance to trash

a bunch of losers from Sweet Valley.

You're the guy that jumped me outside the bloom beach.

Yeah, you're the guy I put in the hospital.

Picked the wrong guy to mess around with.

Oh yeah?

I hope they didn't give up your room.

Hey man, chill out.

[thunder]

[boy] Hey settle down man.

[Manny] I think we took the wrong exit.

Oh great, there's nothing more embarrassing

than showing up late for a rumble.

There's Jackson Street, we gotta be close.

[Winston] Uh oh, we're out of gas.

Didn't you fill the t*nk?

Yeah, last week.

Huh, now what?

We're not that far.

I got an idea.

[Manny] This better be good.

[clanking]

These'll get us there.

Oh cool, I love roller blades.

Actually, these are mine and these are yours.

But be careful, they're my sisters.

They're purple.

There's no way I'm gonna wear these.

[thunder]

[both] Crush Big Mesa.

[boy] Kurt, put the Kn*fe down.

[boy ] Yeah, chill out man.

-[boy ] Is he crazy?

-What are you thinking, man?

We agreed no weapons.

Now it's getting interesting.

Devon.

[Devon] Stay out of this, Liz.

No, this has gone way to far.

That's why we're gonna finish it right now.

Wait.

Jessica, you gotta get out of here.

What are you guys trying to prove anyway?

Tell me exactly what you're fighting for, Todd.

You don't have an answer, do you?

'Cause you're fighting for nothing.

Are you willing to throw your lives away for this?

How many people have to get hurt before enough is enough?

Liz.

The only way to win tonight is to walk away.

[thunder]

Hey man, where you going?

She's right.

Christian, you've got to listen to us.

There's no reason for you guys to fight.

-I'm gonna finish this.

-Let's go.

-[screaming]

-[girl] No!

[dramatic music]

[grunts]

Wait, stop, she's hurt.

Back off!

Jess!

Is she okay?

[Enid] She's not moving.

We need to get her to a hospital.

[Christian] Come on, let's go.

[boy] Let's take off.

[dramatic music]

[boy ] Wanna see if we can go get her?

[boy] Devon started all of this.

[thunder]

[both] Crush Big Mesa!

[Winston] Are you sure this is the right warehouse?

[Manny] Positive.

Guess we missed the fight.

Yeah.

Bummer.

Ow.

Well, at least no one here got hurt.

[thunder]

[clatter and groaning]

[calm music]

Hey Liz, how is Jessica?

I heard she had a concussion.

The doctor said it wasn't serious.

She'll be fine.

Good.

You know, I really respect you

for walking away from the fight.

I know it took me a while,

but I finally realized you were right.

Fighting doesn't solve anything.

Sometimes it takes a lot more courage

just to turn the other way.

You and Jessica are the brave ones.

If there were any heroes in this whole thing,

it was you two.

Thanks.

If there are any heroes in this whole thing,

it was you two.

You know, I tried to tell those guys from Big Mesa

that fighting doesn't solve anything,

but they choked me anyway,

so they had to deal with the wrath of Winston.

At one point there were five guys on me.

I don't let anyone push me around.

I showed them who's boss.

Manny, walk me to Algebra?

Yes, Enid.

[chuckling]

[waves crashing]

I'm really sorry you had to get in the middle of all this.

At least now we can put it behind us,

and you can finish teaching me how to surf.

Actually, I won't be able to.

Jessica, I don't know how to tell you this, but

-

-

What?

I'm moving back to Delaware.

I got kicked out of school.

Principal Sullivan found out about the fight

and he laid the whole thing on me.

But that's not fair.

Christian, there's gotta be something you can do.

I wish there was.

Do you have any idea how hard it is to leave you?

I'd give anything to be able to stay.

So do you think you'll ever be back?

Maybe, some day.

[calm music]

[waves crashing]

[Jessica Voiceover] Dear Jessica, these days

I spend a lot of time

looking out at the waves and thinking of you.

I wonder if you're doing the same.

I wish things could have been different for us.

Maybe some day they will.

I'll never forget you, Jessica.

Christian.
