Many years ago, in a place called greece,


The people would pick their best athletes


From each city to play at different sports


To see who was the best.


They had different events,


Like running races, throwing discs


Or long sticks called javelins,


Wrestling, and even horse racing.


There were three winners of each event.


The top three winners were rewarded with medals:


Gold, silver, and bronze.


And now, again, today,


Countries around the world get together


To play many different sports


To show their friendship with each other.


- Wow, I didn't know any of that.


Now I love the olympics.


- I wish I could play in the olympics.

That'd be so cool.


Well, why don't we have our own games?

- I wish I could play basketball,


But I'm too little.

That are little who play basketball.

- You can be good at lots of games.


You just have to work at it.
