My Lola is coming to visit

today, and we're planning a big surprise for her!

Do you want to help with our big surprise?

Great!

We're decorating the whole house to look like the Philippines!

The country where Lola grew up!

Oh, come on.

Wow, Blue, it looks great in here!

Definitely feeling Filipino.

Lola lives nearby, but she grew up over here

in a country called the Philippines.

She doesn't get to visit there

very much, and she really misses it.

So we're going to surprise her

by decorating the whole house to feel just like the Philippines!

We're going to decorate it to look like the Philippines,

play some Filipino music, and--

- [phone ringing]

- Hi, Joshy!

- We're so excited for you to come visit Lola!

Okay, she's on her way!

We've got decorations and food.

What should we do at this big surprise?

Well, we should do something Lola really loves to do.

Her favorite thing...

out what Lola's favorite thing to do is.

- KIDS: Clue. - Yeah!

- KIDS: Notebook.

Now let's go find those clues before Lola gets here!

Look at all these decorations!

Palm trees always remind Lola of her home in the Philippines!

Nice work Blue, they look great!

She is going to love them,

but we better keep looking for clues! Come on.

- KIDS: A clue.

I don't see anything.

Where is it?

- KIDS: Right there. On you!

Hey, we better put this clue in our handy, dandy?

- KID: Notebook.

Right.

So, our first clue is me.

Josh.

We'll draw a circle for my head,

some dots for eyes, a nose and mouth.

Two ears,

and my hair.

Of course.

And there, it's me.

Josh.

So, what's Lola's favorite thing to do with me.

Oh, good thinking,

but I think we should find two more clues just to be sure.

- Josh! Blue!

I'm so glad you're here! - Hello!

We're crushing ice to make Halo Halo for Lola!

- Halo Halo, my favorite Filipino dessert!

And Lola's, too.

Oh, look.

See the different layers?

You can make Halo Halo with all kinds of ingredients,

but these, mhm mhm mm!

- We have all of those ingredients.

- But we don't know what order to put them in.

So we need your help.

- No problem.

Let's take a closer look.

It looks like there are three

layers of ingredients in this Halo Halo.

So what ingredients should go in first to make the bottom layer?

The red beans, the black beans or the white coconut strips?

- KIDS: Red! The red beans!

- Yeah!

The bottom layer is red,

just like these beans, and these red beans are masarap!

- Red beans it is!

Here we go!

- Bottom layer, done!

- Alright, now the middle layer.

Let's see,

it looks green.

So all we need is an ingredient that's gre--

Oh...

All the ingredients are green.

Okay,

so what ingredient looks like the one we need?

The palm fruit, the gulaman cubes, or the edamame?

- KIDS: The gulaman cubes!

- Yes! The gulaman cubes are square,

just like in the picture, and they jiggle like jelly.

- Next up, the gulaman cubes. Yum!

- Middle layer...

Voila!

- Before we put on the top

layer we'll put in the ice,

coconut milk, and honey.

- Okay, now for the top layer,

it looks like yellow cubes. Okay.

And all of these ingredients are yellow cubes.

Okay. So, which one is the one we need?

The flan, the pineapple, or the angel food cake?

- KIDS: The flan! - Yes!

The flan cubes look as big as the ones in the picture!

- Mm, Leche flan cubes.

There we go!

- Top layer done!

- Thank you so much!

- We have Halo Halo!

- I can't wait to eat this Halo Halo with Lola.

She's going to love it!

- Palam!

- Palam!

Come on.

- ♪

- Yeah! Lola is going to love this Filipino music.

- KIDS: A clue, a clue!

- Oh! A clue?

Is it on my forehead again?

- KIDS: No, on the microphone!

- Oh, our second clue.

It's on the microphone!

You know what we need?

Our handy dandy?

- KIDS: Notebook.

Okay, and there.

We'll draw a curved line

connected on the bottom, then a long rectangular shape,

add a couple lines in the middle

and a bunch of crisscrossed lines at the top, like this.

Then, a line coming out of the bottom.

A microphone.

What was our first clue again?

- KIDS: You! Josh!

- Right! Me, Josh!

How could I forget.

And now a microphone.

So what is Lola's favorite thing to do with me and a microphone?

Smart thinking!

But I think we better find our

third clue just to be sure, and before Lola gets here!

- MAILBOX: ♪ Mail time...

- The mails here!

♪ Here's the mail It never fails ♪
