[KOHAKU]

Huh?

[KOHAKU]

This is it.

The key to a scientific victory,

passed down by Senku's

father and his team.

[KOHAKU] They used the

ultimate treasure box--

the Soyuz spacecraft!

[chuckles]

The spy team already

managed to track it down.

Now we're just a few steps away

from nabbin' Byakuya's treasure.

[KOHAKU]

Somewhere inside of this thing

lies the magic substance

that will allow us

to revive all humankind.

[KOHAKU]

Platinum!

[KOHAKU]

Ah! It's crumbling!

Heh. Of course.

Even if the metal outer

shell was fortified

by the wisdom of

modern civilization,

it still couldn't stand up to

thousands of years of exposure.

But let's see how

the inside held up.

[KOHAKU]

Huh?

[KOHAKU]

Stone.

[GEN]

A concrete ball. Really?

[SENKU]

Yeah, assuming it survived.

Hard to b*at a concrete shell

when it comes to preserving

things over time.

[KOHAKU]

Right.

The glass record was preserved

with a similar method.

We had a hint that

it would be like this!

Back then, I was free to break

the stone away by force.

[KOHAKU]

But if I tried that now,

in the heart of

the enemy's camp...

[yelling]

[ALL]

Hm?

--[ISLANDERS yell]

--[KOHAKU screams]

[KOHAKU] The secret

to saving our friends

and humanity itself is right

here... just out of reach.

[SOYUZ] But she's deep

inside the enemy base.

If she makes too much

noise, she'll be heard.

[SUIKA]

It's not like there's a way

to smash a boulder open

all sneaky-like.

They'll catch her for sure!

[SENKU]

Hm?

[groans]

If only we had somethin'

like a silent b*mb to work with.

[GEN laughs]

Too bad.

A spy w*apon that

ridiculous can only exist

in the daydreams of

a middle schooler.

Huh? I'm gonna have to burst

your bubble there, Gen...

...'cause silent bombs are

as real as these hands.

You mean that crap

actually exists?

And the name is seriously

that on the nose?

[SENKU] They're used to

quietly bust up concrete

in residential areas.

Think "silent b*mb"

was a brand name.

The technical term is

"expansive demolition grout."

[GEN] Well, that's

certainly a mouthful.

[SENKU laughing]

All I gotta do is pour

a tiny bit of this powder

into this vial of liquid.

Why's he acting so creepy?

If he mixes up those vials,

they're gonna go

kablooey for sure!

Let's go ahead and try it out.

Hey! Wait!

What's wrong with you?

Are you trying to k*ll us?

[laughs]

I didn't call it silent

for nothin'.

It's not actually expl*sive.

It'll just turn into plaster.

[GEN]

Huh? Plaster?

As in the stuff people use

for sculptures and casts?

[SENKU]

Spy team, listen up.

[KOHAKU gasps]

[SENKU] Your mission is to cr*ck

open that treasure chest

and snag the platinum inside it.

Huh? A pack'a rats?

No, not again!

[ISLANDER B]

There're so many!

There're somethin' weird

about those rats.

Huh?

I've never seen

anything like 'em.

[AMARYLLIS]

Pardon.

This is a little

bit embarrassing,

but I'm practicing my

dance for the master

and I want it to be perfect.

Might I trouble you

gentlemen to watch

and tell me what you think?

[ALL gasp]

[AMARYLLIS giggles]

[ISLANDERS laughing]

[OARASHI] Now that's what

I call a miracle dance!

This girl's got moves!

[GINRO]

Wow.

You two distract the guards--

buy me as much time as you can.

[chuckles]

[OARASHI] But what's this other

woman's problem, huh?

[gasps]

Aren't you gonna

dance for us?

[GINRO]

Yes, sir!

[ISLANDERS chattering]

[GINRO] How the hell am

I supposed to do this?

[KOHAKU]

This is...

[SENKU]

Grab the tools I sent you

with the mini-mice mobiles.

Of course that's what

we're calling them.

Why wouldn't it be?

And dig. The holes can be

as skinny as you want.

[chuckles] I'm counting on

your strength, Kohaku,

so feel free to go full lioness.

Ha. Don't call me a lio--

Oh, yeah, Senku can't hear

a word I'm saying right now.

I'll be as quick and

discreet as I can.

But I'll have to

make some sound.

[OARASHI]

Hm?

[BOTH]

Huh?

[ISLANDER A] Ya hear that?

Sounds like grinding.

[ISLANDER D]

From the master's tree?

[AMARYLLIS]

Uh-oh! What now?

[GINRO yelling]

Whoa there! That's my spear!

The heck do you

think you're doing?!

I'm showing you my

special spear dance,

which is totally not made up!

Huh?!

[AMARYLLIS]

Thanks, Ginro!

But this'll get awkward

when they realize

you don't know a spear dance.

[GINRO yelling]

[ISLANDERS gasp]

[GINRO yells]

--[GINRO yelling]

--[AMARYLLIS laughing]

[AMARYLLIS]

Hey. That's insane!

Where did you learn

to handle a spear?

I'm actually one of my

village's gatekeepers, so...

Obviously, I'm ready

to run from anything.

I've spent hours honing these

flashy yet pointless tricks

so I can spin my way

to safety anytime!

[AMARYLLIS] Why are you saying

that like you honestly think

it's something to be proud of?

[SENKU]

Once you've dug out your holes,

get your two vial types

and shove 'em on in.

The one full of liquid

is just water

straight from Sulfurina's lake.

While the powder filled one

is called anhydrous

calcium sulfate.

I mixed heated sulfuric acid

with crushed seashells.

Once the mix

started clumping up,

I took some more shells

and alum and-- Uh.

Never mind. No time

for long explanations.

Heh. It's not like I

would get it, anyway.

So next I push them both down

with this plug, right?

[SENKU]

Now leave it for a while.

Let our two substances mix

and soon enough they'll

turn into plaster.

And-And what'll happen then?

It grows, but since it's

stuck in that tiny-ass hole,

the plaster is forced

to make room for itself.

It'll shatter the

concrete from within,

hitting it with a force of

kilograms per square centimeter.

[KOHAKU] I set the b*mb

at around noon,

so time to see if it worked.

[KOHAKU gasps]

[BYAKUYA]

Senku,

there's no telling what

you'll need in the future.

But I'm leaving you

this inheritance.

A treasure chest stuffed

with rare materials.

Gold. Diamond.

And also, platinum.

Because, Senku,

I know that someday, you're

gonna revive the whole world

in a snap--just like that.

[chuckles]

Nothing's achieved

in a snap, dummy.

This'll take patience

and hard work.

But you're right.

Someday, it'll happen.

[SENKU] Science will

quietly break stone.

[KOHAKU]

This is it.

The power of science cracked

open this treasure box.

[KOHAKU] If my sister's

Hundred Tales are accurate...

[KOHAKU] ...then towards

the center of the stone,

I'll find the platinum we need.

But locating something I've

never seen before won't be easy,

and then there's the matter

of digging it out.

Even with the stone cracked,

I can't avoid making

noise as I take it apart.

Actually, noise might

be helpful here.

If I hit something

that sounds weird,

it may well be the treasure.

[crash]

[KOHAKU]

So loud!

[ISLANDER E]

Huh?

What was that?

[KOHAKU]

Heh.

Please don't tell me that I

just shattered the contents

of the treasure box we've

been after all this time.

No, no, no. I'm sure

it's perfectly safe.

[KOHAKU]

Oh my god!

[KOHAKU]

It's literally just sand?

[OARASHI yells]

[KOHAKU]

No.

Despite its appearance,

the sand itself must have value.

[KOHAKU] That's how it

always is with Senku.

He takes all these little

fragments of our stone world

and transforms them

into something useful.

[ISLANDERS]

Huh?

[KOHAKU]

Ha. Without really intending to,

I seem to have become

a full-fledged citizen

of the kingdom of science.

[ISLANDER A]

Look here!

Huh? It musta

crumbled on its own.

I mean, it's not like we heard

anyone hammerin' at it, right?

Damn it all. This motor's trash.

The axle's too wobbly.

At least it was good enough

for the mini-mice-mobiles.

The janky movements

made them more lifelike.

[SENKU] Yeah, but a

drone made with these?

It'll crash for sure.

I could really use Kaseki's

skills right now.

[laughs]

Look, a mouse mobile!

Think we just got

a special delivery

from Kohaku and the spy team!

[SENKU gasps]

[gasps]

[SUIKA]

Uh?

[GEN]

It-It's just sand.

[SUIKA] It does have a lotta

sparkly bits, so there's that.

It's gold dust.

Byakuya and his people

must've collected it...

[SENKU] ...from the tiny

river on this island.

Talk about arduous labor.

[SENKU chuckles]

Thing about gold dust is,

depending where its gathered,

it can very, very, rarely

contain bits of platinum.

Case in point.

Ah-ha!

So this tiny little speck is...?

That's platinum?

But it's so little!

Think it's gonna be enough?

We've gotta work

with what we have,

but it's far from ideal.

If we had a fingertip's worth,

we'd be in business for sure.

[SUIKA]

No worries, guys!

I'll go get a bunch

from the river!

Don't bother, Suika.

Look, I need you to understand

just how friggin'

rare platinum is.

Sift through a ton

of the earth's crust

and you'll find . grams.

I'm grateful to have even

a grain of the stuff.

If you're just scrounging

through a riverbed,

you'd need decades to find more.

Look at all that! How could

they have found so many?

You were just saying collecting

that much would take decades?

[gasps]

[BYAKUYA] There was a certain

theory in my time.

Some folks thought that if

people were all-but wiped out,

rebuilding human civilization

would be impossible.

If all the easily

accessible materials

that foster new technologies

have already been stripped

from the Earth's surface,

then without that early

infusion of resources,

civilization goes nowhere fast.

With that in mind,

I think it'll help bootstrap

a new civilization

if we gather as many rare

minerals as we can now

and gift them to those

who come after us.

[BYAKUYA] Maybe this stuff'll

come in handy someday.

Or maybe it won't.

Hell if I know.

Then why work so hard?

Why not rest?

Yeah, why are you so

desperate to gather it?

[BYAKUYA]

Why? Isn't that obvious?

It's who I am.

[BYAKUYA] I'm an astronaut.

The last one this planet has.

I say that working towards

a future full of science...

[BYAKUYA] ...it's part

of my job description.

I'm lining things up

for the next astronaut.

[SENKU] Been petrified

for ,, seconds.

One. Two. Three. Four.

[BYAKUYA]

When I kick the bucket,

throw all the stuff I gathered

into that round

thing over there.

[SENKU]

,,, seconds.

One. Two. Three. Four.

[BYAKUYA]

Ah. How lucky.

I fell forward,

so I can see the stars

reflected in the

water's surface.

I don't mind that

I'm not the one

who gets to look up at them now.

[BYAKUYA]

Senku.

[GEN] While you patiently marked

the passing of each second,

your dad was on his

hands and knees

steadily sifting through

decades of sand.

You're alike.

[chuckles]

Yeah, and we aren't

even blood relatives.

Huh? Wait, what do you

mean by blood relative?

Is he not your real dad?

The only thing he ever told me

is that I was his friend's kid.

I never pressed him to say more

'cause I never gave a rat's ass.

Those kinds of details

just don't matter.

[GEN chuckles]

True.

They really don't matter.

Not a bit.

After all, the connection

you two share

is self-evident, I think.

It's in your unbending will.

Your unbreakable spirits.

Damn straight.

And now more than ever,

I'm grateful as hell, Byakuya.

Thanks for your years of hard

work. We'll take it from here.

[SOYUZ, SUIKA gasp]

Let's get this thing started.

It's time for us to

whip up a machine

that can make unlimited

revival fluid!

[KOHAKU, GINRO, AMARYLLIS]

Huh?

[AMARYLLIS]

What's going on?

[GINRO]

I-I don't know!

Is something wrong? I'm scared!

[KOHAKU]

That path leads to...

[IBARA]

Hmm.

Hm?

[IBARA]

Ice?

[ISLANDER H] I think it came

from the room made of clear ice!

[KIRISAME]

Minister Ibara.

[IBARA]

Hmm. This isn't good at all.

Why, it's a jolt to this

old heart of mine.

[gasps]

It seems we have

intruders amongst us.

[GROUP gasps]

[GEN] This is your

most science-y looking

doohickey thingamabob

yet, Senku!

[SUIKA]

This means we can free everyone

who ever got turned

into stone now, right?

[SENKU]

Heh. In theory, yeah.

[GEN] I have absolutely no

idea what I'm looking at.

Isn't this thing dependent

on the platinum

that your dad spent

decades collecting?

Can you at least point out

where that is for me?

[gasps]

[SOYUZ]

That coil.

[SUIKA]

It really is just a tiny bit.

[SENKU] Yeah. The gas

just needs to touch it.

This Pythagora Switch Rube

Goldberg machine lookin' thing

races our ingredients

through its maze

toward the final flask.

Till, drop by drop,

we get our miracle fluid.

Nitric acid.

Even now, I still can't

pretend to understand

anything about how

this nitric acid works.

But I do know one

thing for a fact.

This substance that we valued

enough to fight for,

enough to go to w*r for, even,

has ceased to be a miracle and

become a product of science,

because you, dear Senku,

made it with your own hands.

Yeah.

At this point, humanity's

revival is all but guaranteed.

[SENKU chuckles]

[SENKU] But before we get

to the rest of our species,

let's revive our

friends on the ship.

Get the kingdom of science

back to full strength.

Here we are on the island

where it all began.

We're nearing our

final objective.

Fight for the petrification

beam and win.

[chuckles]

This is exhilarating.

Get excited.
