[gasps] This beast's fingers
are wrinkled as well.

Many scientists think that's because
when your skin is tight and wet,

it becomes slippery,
making it hard to pick things up.

When the skin wrinkles,
it makes it easier to grab things.

But how do your fingers know
that they are in water?

- Watch and learn![/i]
-[chiming][/i]

[Walda] When you're in the water[/i]
long enough,[/i]

the water seeps under your skin

and nerve endings
tell the brain you're wet.

Your brain sends a message
to your blood vessels to shrink.

When blood vessels shrink,

it makes room for the skin
to collapse over them.

That's how the wrinkles appear.

Uh, and the wrinkles make it easier
for wet fingers to pick things up.

Unhand me, you…

Wait, you picked me up so easily
with your wrinkled fingers.

Oh, wonderful brain.
