[narrator] The babies are playing stop and go

on the playground today.

Stop.

[Kip] OK. Uh, uh...

Tilly, is it time to go yet?

Yeah. Vroom, vroom! Go, go, go!

[blows whistle]

-Thank you! -Thank you.

-Stop. -Huh?

What? Stop? But it was just time to go.

Unh-uh. Stop.

Tilly, stop stopping.

[chuckles]

OK, now we can go, go, go!

-Stop! -No, not again.

I have something to show all of you.

What is it, Franny?

Ooh, come see.

Follow me! Cheetah speed!

[overlapping chatter]

It’s a new game

that will thrill and mystify you all.

I call it the box of mystery.

-Ooh. -Drumroll, please.

Presenting the box of mystery!

[all] Wow.

How does it work, Franny?

Find the shapes on the side of the box.

The box will open!

What’s inside? What’s inside?

That is the mystery.

Is it balloons? Or-- or-- or a goldfish?

Or-- or-- or maybe dirty socks?

What? I like dirty socks.

What shapes do we look for, Franny?

Look closely and the box will tell you.

Oh, hey, that one looks like a square.

And I know just where to find one.

Where is it?

Oh, there it is.

Hi, Snaily.

Hey! Hey, I found it.

I found it. This book has a square on it.

-Is that the right shape? -Yes.

One mystery is solved.

[all] Yay!

The next shape has three sides.

What is it?

That’s a triangle, and I know where one is.

-[thud] -[squeak]

-Whoops. Oh, that’s not it. -What’s there?

[mooing]

I found it! Ha-ha.

Ta-da! A triangle. See? Three sides.

Is that the shape you were looking for, Franny?

And the second mystery is solved!

-Yay! -I got one! I got one!

Now, can you find the shape

with no sides at all?

For that is the greatest mystery.

That’s a circle. Yeah. Lulu can find it.

Oh, I thought that would be the hard one.

Oh, hi, Cookitybot.

Bye, Cookitybot.

Look, look! A circle!

See? Is that the right shape, Franny?

And the third mystery is solved!

-[cheering] -All right!

The box of mystery

needs one more shape,

a shape that has a lot of sides.

That is a lot of sides.

Oh. Yeah, that’s too many for me to count.

Well, hey, we could sing the counting song.

That’ll remind us to count really high.

Yeah, good idea, Kip.

Well, shapes are part of math, so maybe...

Math Molly!

-Yeah. -Yeah!

-[all] Math Molly! -[trumpeting]

Come on, big kids! Let’s go, go, go!

[narrator] The babies are here to use math to solve a problem.

We need to find a shape with eight sides. Let’s start!

That shape has four sides. See?

One, two, three, four.

Big kids, what’s that shape?

[kids] Square.

That’s right.

Look, three sides.

One, two, three.

What’s that?

[kids] Triangle.

-Yeah. -Triangle.

Oh, and that shape has no sides.

What’s it called?

[kids] Circle.

Right. A nice round circle.

Stop, stop, stop, stop.

Oh, no, no, no, no. We can’t stop now, Tilly.

We’re about to learn that shape.

Hmm, this shape has one, two, three,

four, five, six,

seven, eight. Eight sides.

What is it, big kids?

[kids] Octagon.

Octagon!

That’s what it’s called.

Yeah, but, well, where can we find an octagon?

Oh, what’s that?

That stop sign has eight sides.

Tilly, you found an octagon.

and we didn’t listen to you.

I love sandwiches.

These are just the way I like them.

My favorite shape.

Sometimes sandwiches are square, but they’re still yummy,

so you can’t go wrong.

Tortilla chips are triangles, too.

-See? -All the best foods are triangles.

Triangle noodles?

Oh, well, maybe not noodles, but...

-Cake. -Huh?

-Pie. -Uh-huh.

-Pizza! -Oh!

No, no, Tilly. Don’t eat the floating pizza.

Hmm, I just got the best idea.

After lunch, I’m gonna play a triangle game.

Here comes the bus around the corner.

You see, Franny?

Mine’s a triangle, too!

They’re both triangles?

[narrator] Babies, there are lots of different kinds of triangles.

Math Molly will show you.

Franny drew what is called an equilateral triangle,

and Kip drew a right triangle.

Oh, a right triangle. See? I knew I was right.

I guess there isn’t only one way to make a triangle.

Well, I like both of your triangles.
