15x04 - Head Games

[eerie music playing]

[Amy] This thing is,
like, putting these

weird thoughts in her head.

Getting her all worked up

to act out.

[Paige] She got a lot more
expl*sive and volatile.

Don't know what
could be causing that.

There has to have been some
violent outburst on her part.

[Jennifer] He sh*t her
in the head,

and then himself.

So it was a m*rder-su1c1de.

Yes.

We will never know how many
people were m*rder*d that night.

It was reaching down
from the ceiling,

and putting its hands
inside a female's head.

If it's gonna k*ll me, it's gonna
have to do it the bloody hard way.

[Amy] It just manipulates people's
thoughts and causes problems.

Now, it's out of, like, revenge.

[car door opens]

[Amy] Oh, boy.

I don't feel safe.

The earth is not stable here.

And it's, like, moving too fast.

And I feel sick.
That sickness comes in.

The land here, it's all about death.
Like, everybody's dying.

This is not a good situation.

[Steve] I'm in Orlando, Florida.

Locals call it the City Beautiful.
And I can see why.

I got a call from a terrified
woman named Jennifer.

Says whatever's in the house
k*lled her former in-laws,

and now it wants her dead.

Jennifer says the activity
is getting worse day by day,

and it's trying to rip her
and her daughter apart.

I'm hoping Amy and I can help
before it's too late.

So, I'm glad I'm here.
I mean, I love Orlando.

It's a gorgeous area,
but when we spoke on the phone,

you were basically saying,
"I live in Hell."

What the hell's going on?

There is not, uh, one day

where things are just
completely normal and okay.

There's something very evil here.
And it is trying to k*ll me.

And I believe that
it has the power to do so.

I am desperate.

I need you guys.

Let's get the basics.
Who lives in the house?

Myself.

My husband, Ian, who's .

My daughter Paige,
from a previous relationship, who is .

[Steve] On the phone,
you said whatever is here

is trying to tear you and your
daughter apart. What's going on?

[Jennifer] It has
devolved so badly

that we can't be in the
same room for very long.

Really?

Mmm.

Do me a favor and give me
a list of the stuff

you guys are experiencing here.

We hear strange noises.

Our health is being att*cked.

We're seeing shadow figures
and apparitions.

And we experience
physical v*olence.

So, Jen, when we spoke
on the phone,

you had mentioned a tragedy, um...
[sighs]...in this house.

What the hell happened?

My daughter's grandparents,
Kathy and David,

took their lives
in my daughter's closet.

He sh*t her in the head,
and then himself.

So it was a m*rder-su1c1de.

Yes.

And, so, how long ago
did this happen?

Three years ago.

That is Kathy and David.

[Steve] They look really happy
in this picture. It's sad.

You recall how old they might have
been at the time this happened?

Late ''s.
- [Steve] Okay.

They were very proud,
strong people

who had taken care of themselves
and their entire families--

Okay.
- [Jennifer]...for the whole

of their lives.

And I don't think
that was their decision.

Whose decision
do you think it was then?

I think they were influenced.

All right, so I just wanna
get down to brass tacks here.

You believe the paranormal had
something to do with their suicides.

I really do.

Okay.

[Amy] There is a very
heavy atmosphere.

Death is here.

Somebody d*ed in this area.

There's, like, some
dead old lady over there.

You know, she's probably,
like, I don't know, ?

She's, like, super confused, so I'm,
like, trying to tell her that, like...

You know, I'm like,
"Do you see the ambulance?"

And she is like, "Yeah."

And I'm like, "You need to go
in the ambulance.

"Like, that was for you."

I think that she,

you know, maybe, like,
had a sudden death.

I think this was fairly recent.

I'd say, like,
within the last years.

Then there's also, uh,
something about a su1c1de.

Uh, I think a male
who k*lled himself. Hmm.

[Steve] Okay, so,
what's going on around the house?

I see an apparition often

of an older white man,

who says some
pretty nasty things.

[Steve] Like what?
- He says that

nobody would be here
if it wasn't for him,

that he owns all of this.

"And you're all here
because of me."

Okay, anything else?
- That same

older gentleman has jumped
me on a few occasions.

So when he jumps you
like that, what happens?

I feel intense emotion
that does not come from me.

Okay.
- And I wind up screaming

and yelling crazy things.
- [Steve] That's interesting.

So what's coming out of your
mouth, though, do you even know?

I do know.

Things like...

"You don't appreciate me.
You don't appreciate what I've done.

"You don't recognize
what I've done.

"I built everything,

"and you do not
appreciate me."

All right, anything else?

Something else in the house
is influencing me emotionally.

I get very upset, paranoid,
angry, sad, fearful.

[Steve] Now is this a different
feeling from when you get jumped?

[Jennifer] Yes.
I'm not sure what it is,

I just wind up being really angry
with myself, that I'm failing.

All right, so I gotta ask,

could it be medications you're on
that are making you feel like this?

No.

What do you think its purpose
is, to do that to you?

To drive you nuts?
- [Jennifer] Yes.

Okay.
- And to

make my family
think I'm completely unhinged

and so, therefore, they should
discount what I say.

Which causes more friction
between you and your daughter.

A great deal.

[door opens]

[Amy] Uh, I think
this is living people.

Male and a female,
and they're having a really loud fight.

Bad.

So there's fighting,
fighting, fighting,

and then the female
storming off that way.

She's got brown hair.

And I hear, "Jessica."

I'm hearing a male being, like,

"You're just
losing your mind."

You know,
"You're losing your mind."

This, this living person
is crying.

Okay.

Something's up.
They have an attic.

I see this, like, little thing.

It's, like, hiding.

[Mathew] What is?

[Amy] It's, like, a little,
like, gremlin-y looking thing.

It doesn't wanna be found.

[Mathew] Does this have
any effect on the living?

[Amy] Yeah, it's bad.

[Steve] All right, Jennifer,
I'm assuming this is your own bedroom?

[Jennifer] Yes.

[Steve] Okay, so
what's going on?

I have

seen a dark figure
that looks very much

like a big, giant frog.
It's about the size of a human toddler.

Okay, so, I'm trying to figure
out what this would look like.

I actually drew it.

Like a sketch?
- [Jennifer] Yes.

[Steve] Wow.
It looks like a frog.

I'm afraid to even ask,
but what else?

I keep waking up
with bruises on my body.

I have a photo
of one of the bruises

that were left
on the inside of my arm.

[Steve] Okay.
- [Jennifer] It's usually

three bruises together.

[Steve] Okay.
- [Jennifer] Like this.

You have wood tables here.
Everything is wood.

Yeah, I do get bruises
from those. But it's always

on the outside.
- Okay.

All right, anything else
like this happen?

I felt a burning sensation
on my cheek.

Okay.
- [Jennifer] And I found

a scratch on my face.

[Steve] This could have been an
allergic reaction to something?

No.

No.
- [Jennifer] My face gets red

when I have allergic reactions.

But it doesn't...
Not in, like, one little spot.

All right, so,
what else is going on?

There is an apparition
that I see

that is a tall, gray man,
giving off a feeling of hate.

[Steve] Okay,
what's he look like?

He's disproportionate in
that his legs are very long,

his arms are very long.
And the torso is very long.

[Steve] Okay.

And it just looks odd.

Do you think this is the thing
or person that

caused your in-laws to do
what they did?

And causing all the havoc
that's going on here?

And maybe wanting to k*ll you?

I do.

I think he wants people
to do harm--

[Steve] Right.
- ...and hurt others

and themselves.

What are you hoping you can get out of
our investigation, now that we're here?

I'm not sure
it's even possible anymore,

but I would love

to have my normal relationship
back with my daughter

for one.
- Hmm.

And I would just love to be able to
live every day without being att*cked.

[Amy] That gremlin looking thing

is torturing the living woman
in this room.

I did see, like, arms
reaching through the ceiling.

Like, dangling down,

going into a female's head,

and, like, I think she's asleep.

And they're causing, um, issues.

So, like, weird visions.
I don't think they're good.

More like having visions of,
like bad things are about to happen.

Like, to family or friends.
Themselves.

And I think it's working.
I think this person's become very

scared and neurotic.

Her reality is really, really,
really skewed,

because this thing is,
like, putting these weird

thoughts in her head,

and causing her to be paranoid
and depressed and anxious.

This is bad.

So, Paige, let me
just start off by

extending my condolences about what
happened with your grandparents.

Thank you. I appreciate that.

[Steve] What kind of people
were your grandparents?

They were... [sighs] They
were really special people.

They were very
dedicated parents,

they were hard working.
They were my inspiration.

I understand your grandparents
committed su1c1de

somewhere in this room
in a closet?

[Paige] Yeah, the master bedroom
closet, it's back that way.

[Steve] Okay.
- [Paige] It's a big walk-in.

Do you even think
your grandparents are here?

I think that's
entirely possible.

Okay, so, if you can,

Paige, give me, um,
some of the experiences you've had.

There was a lot of things
that I would do and say

that I would be told that I...
Aren't part of my character.

It just felt like something
else might be influencing that.

[Steve] Your mom mentioned she's
going through something similar.

When it happens with you, though,
what are we talking about?

Like, yelling, as if, like,

the people I love
are somebody else.

It's like I would forget
for a minute who they were.

Has your relationship with mom
changed since she's moved here?

Yes.

There just seemed to be a lot more
miscommunication, misunderstandings,

but she got a lot more
expl*sive and volatile,

and I don't know
what could be causing that.

[Amy groans]
Really negative energy.

Very negative.

Absolute hatred.

"Can't get out of here. There's no way out.
I've gotta get out of here."

This is the female.

"Bad [bleep] gonna go down.
Bad things."

Okay, so this does concern me.

So, that gremlin looking thing is also
messing with the living woman in this room.

I just see the hands
coming down,

coming down, coming down,
wherever, wherever, wherever.

Coming down,
manipulating her thoughts,

getting her all worked up
to act out.

Why is it doing that?

Well, now it's just pissed,
so it's just, like,

"I'm just gonna do this." You
know, like, "[bleep] you, bitch."

Has she acted on that,
or tried to act on that?

There has to have been some
violent outburst on her part,

like, where she has
[bleep] lost it.

Which definitely is being,

uh, manipulated by this thing,

to get worse.

She wants to hurt others.

That's not good.

All right, anything else
you could tell me about?

I've been grabbed a few times,

I mean, definitely
a couple of times.

Distinctively felt
like fingertips.

Okay, so where did this happen?
Give me an example.

Hallway leading to the garage,
right there.

I was grabbed
and pulled by my elbow.

So how hard are we talking?
Grab my elbow, just give me an idea.

All right, so not too hard.
- No, not too hard.

It was just enough to...

Firm pinch and pull.

Like they were trying
to get my attention.

Anything else like that happen?

[Paige] I woke up,

and noticed bruising on my neck.

What kind of bruise was it?
Was it like finger marks?

Was it just a blotch?

There was only
a few finger marks.

So it--
- So it looked like

somebody grabbed you
and tried to choke you.

Right,
- What do you think

it could be?

Whatever part of what's here
feels, like,

pure hatred and malice.

Okay.

[Amy] There's this
woman here, living.

She brought that thing.

This feels like within
the last four or five years.

Something about
four or five years.

It didn't attach to her,
it's more like she grabbed it.

She collected it.

I think she might have
wanted to be haunted.

She had issues
throughout her life.

Something about death happening
near, with her, recently.

I would say in the last
two or three years.

Now this gremlin looking thing
has gone over there

and it's [bleep]
with the other woman.

[Steve] So, I just got a call
from the local historian.

He did some digging,

and found out that one of the
first owners of Jennifer's land,

dreamed of turning it
into a huge development.

But the second he put the
money together to do it,

tragedy struck.

I'm heading over to meet
with him to find out

exactly what happened.

Well, Richard, I appreciate
you meeting with me

and helping me out on this case.

All right, let's get right to it.
Who is this guy?

His name was
Walter Washington Rose.

He was born in
Athens, Georgia, in ,

to a political family
in the area.

[Steve] Okay.
So, when does he make it out to Orlando?

The first time
we really hear about

Walter moving to the Central
Florida area is in .

[Steve] Now, on the phone,
you mentioned he was a land developer.

Is that right?

[Richard] Yeah, he was
buying large tracts of land

and developing some of the most
popular subdivisions in Orlando.

In some of the business dealings
that he had in real estate,

it stipulated that the owners
of the land had to be white.

[Steve] All right, Richard,
let me ask you a question.

When does he wind up
buying my client's property?

Well, in , he ends up
buying acres

of what was, then,
unincorporated West Orange County,

which included the property
of your client.

Walter's dream at the time was to
build another popular community,

in Central Florida,
called Rose Hill Groves.

It took years for him
to secure the financing

to build Rose Hill Groves.

It wasn't until ,

that he had everything
in place to break ground.

He finally gets the financing
together in ,

but you said on the phone that's
when tragedy struck. What happened?

Well, in the early morning
hours of August th, ,

Walter wakes up
in the middle of the night.

He's in severe pain.
- Okay.

So he gets up out of bed, his wife
Stella doesn't think anything of it.

Okay.
- Eventually, she finds him

lying dead in the bathroom.
In fact, this is his obituary.

Walter Rose was years old,
when he d*ed of a heart att*ck.

All right, so what happens
to the acres?

Well, unfortunately,
after Walter dies,

his dream does with him.
- Okay.

His wife holds on to the
property for another years.

It's never developed.
And in ,

she ends up selling it to
another land development company.

And that company,
eventually, ends up

building your client's home
in .

Wow, okay.

[Amy] There's something about the earth
here, that's so unstable.

It's become angry, violent.

There's some kind of movement,
and it's not safe.

There was, like,
this whoosh of illness,

which I think has to do
with the earth.

The living, maybe they're
having equilibrium problems.

Equilibrium issue can
also cause some nausea.

Do you think people are
in danger because of this?

I kind of think so.

Like, what could happen?

I don't know.
But I don't feel safe.

[Steve] So I reached out
to a local PI,

and told her about what happened
with Jennifer's in-laws.

She did some digging and found

two more m*rder-suicides
right near the house.

I gotta say, for a small town,
this is very unusual.

So, Ting, thanks for meeting with me.
I appreciate that.

Let's start with the first case.
What did you find out?

[Ting] So, it's said to be
a -year-old female

by the name of Wanda Gayford.

Okay.
- [Ting] And her husband,

that's -year-old Andrew.

They married in ,

and lived right around the
corner from your client's home.

They were married for only six
months, when things went bad.

Andrew was arrested
for domestic battery,

because he threw Wanda up
against a wall in their home.

[Steve] So this guy sounds
like a real piece of work.

So, does he do time?
Or does he get out?

He only spends
the night in jail.

And in the morning, his arraignment,
they release him on bond

and tell him
to stay away from Wanda.

So, he didn't
stay away, obviously.

That is correct.
So, on the morning of September th,

things turned deadly.

He goes home, and they actually have
an argument, outside on the driveway,

for about minutes,
according to eye witnesses.

And the argument escalates.

He pulls a g*n out
from his trunk.

Wanda sees this,
jumps in her vehicle,

drives across the
neighbor's yard to get away.

And he fires six sh*ts at her.

Okay, so does she get hit?

So, one of the rounds
actually hits her,

and she crashes her vehicle
into a nearby vehicle.

Okay.
- So he jumps in his vehicle,

pulls up next to her and sh**t
her at point blank range.

Okay.
- [Ting] And flees the scene.

So, Wanda was rushed
to the hospital,

and was announced
dead on arrival.

Okay, so he takes off.
He's on the run at this point.

Yes, he's on the run
for the next several days,

and he actually makes it
all the way up to New Jersey.

Okay.
- Along the way somewhere,

he ditches the vehicle, and calls a
friend to bring him back to Florida.

And on the way back to Florida,

they stop at a gas station
in Georgia.

His friend's
in the convenience store.

Andrew walks outside,
around the corner of the store.

With the g*n that
he sh*t Wanda with,

he sh**t himself with
in the head.

[Steve] All right, so he
took the coward's way out,

knowing he was gonna go back to
Florida and wind up getting arrested.

[Ting] Yes.

So, now, you mentioned
on the phone,

there was another
m*rder-su1c1de.

Yeah, so this one's gonna be
an attempted m*rder-su1c1de,

involving a -year-old female
by the name of Bessie Joyner

and her -year-old
husband, Orville.

They worked at a filling station

that's only a mile and a half
away from your client's home.

Okay, so now we got another husband and wife.
What happened?

So, on March th, ,

while in the apartment,

Bessie and Orville, basically,
get in an argument.

And Orville threatens her life.

Okay,
- [Ting] So she takes

a single barrel shotgun
and sh**t him in the back.

Okay. Now, does that k*ll him?

It does not. So, he is taken to
a nearby doctor, and he survives.

All right, so he's sh*t,
he survives.

Now, now what happens with her?

Well, she tells the officers that she
sh*t him because it was self-defense.

So, in the middle
of the interview,

she gets up
and walks to the bedroom,

finds a razor
and slits her own throat.

[Steve] She wind up not
successfully k*lling her husband,

but wind up k*lling herself.

That is correct.
- [Steve] In a pretty

brutal fashion.

[Amy] I encountered a female.

Between maybe and years old.
She's white.

I don't think that
she d*ed naturally.

I would put her between
the s and the s.

She's extremely depressed,

and I'm nervous,
because she's become...

...angry.

[Steve] So far, I have a client

terrified something paranormal
is out to k*ll her,

on a property where there
was a recent m*rder su1c1de.

But I wanna see
if there's anything else.

Searching through the archives,

I find the horrific story about
a racially motivated m*ssacre

that sent shock waves
through the area.

So, I'm heading over to meet the
chief curator of a local museum.

She told me it all started when one
Black man stood up for his right to vote.

So, Pam, I appreciate you
helping me out with this case.

Now, on the phone, you mentioned
this one guy looking for justice,

kind of made this thing go over the top.
Who was this guy?

So, a man by the name
of Moses Norman,

who was, uh, a business man
and a labor broker

in the city of Ocoee.
- Okay.

And so, on November nd, ,

he went out to try to exercise
his right to vote,

and he was
turned away at the polls.

And that is what sort of kicked
off the series of events.

Pam, why was he turned away?
What reason?

We don't necessarily know,
uh, but the understanding

is that he believed he had
the legal right to vote,

others thought that he'd maybe
not met those obligations.

All right. So he gets turned away.
What happens next?

So there was a, uh,
armed mob of white men,

who were deputized,
who went out to Ocoee.

Uh, they didn't go
to the home of Moses Norman,

they went to the home of his,
uh, fellow labor broker

and, uh, friend, who was also
Black, named July Perry.

[Steve] So, I'm assuming they went to
this guy's house looking for Moses?

[Pamela] Yes.

Okay, so, I know, back then in
Florida, the KKK was pretty prevalent.

Uh, did they have
anything to do with this?

Absolutely.

And we actually have
a really incredible archive

from our collection,

which is a letter from the Ku Klux
Klan to the local white politicians,

essentially telling them to
stop educating Black voters.

Okay, so now this deputized
mob is at July's house.

What happened?

July Perry
is sh*t multiple times.

While he does manage to escape
out the back side of his house,

the mob gets him.

They, uh, brought him over
to the Orange County jail,

where, supposedly, he received
some medical attention,

and was placed into a jail cell.

And what happens after that?

The white mob comes back.

Uh, they actually come into the
jail and overpower the jailor,

taking his keys,
and remove July Perry from his jail cell.

Where they then take him
outside, b*at him,

and then drag him behind a car,

uh, before they lynch him
and hang him,

and then riddle his body
with b*llet holes.

It sounds like
these guys were crazy.

I mean, it didn't end there,
I assume.

No, the v*olence
actually continued

all into the morning hours
of the next day.

At the site in Ocoee,
there were still people there burning homes,

k*lling others, uh,
and creating a perimeter.

Uh, we actually have
a headline from the next day.

[Steve] Okay.

[Steve reads headline aloud]

Is that correct?

Part of the horror of this event

is that intentionally,
we will never know

the number of
how many people were m*rder*d.

Estimates range from to .

But all that we can factually
say is four individuals,

July Perry and three additional,

uh, were m*rder*d that night.

All right, was Moses
among those three?

No. There was a story
that Moses d*ed that night,

but through
genealogical research,

we were able to find out
that he actually survived

and was later found
in New York City.

Really?
- Yes.

Okay, so, let me
ask you a question.

You got me in a courtroom here.

Was anyone charged?

The FBI did an investigation
about voting fraud,

but never an investigation
about the m*ssacre.

And yet, nobody was ever, uh,

held responsible
for the events of that night.

Wow, okay.

[intense music playing]

[Amy] I saw several
horrifying things on my walk.

But the gremlin looking creature,
tormenting the living woman,

concerns me the most.

There's a female
that's in a bed.

You can see arms
coming from the ceiling.

So, they're longer than average.

So, the hands are going
inside this person's head.

Anything about the woman's
facial expression?

I want her to be asleep,

so sleeping face.

The hair's back, I think it's,
like, parted in the middle.

[suspenseful music plays]
- [pen scratches]

Amy, is this what you saw?

[suspenseful music builds]

Yes.

[crickets chirping]

[Steve] Now that Amy and I have
completed our investigations,

we're ready to reveal
our findings to each other

and our clients,
for the first time.

Amy, I want you to meet
Jennifer, and this is Paige.

They're mother and daughter.

And they live here
with Jennifer's husband, Ian.

From what I could see,
these guys are in a lot of trouble,

and we're their very last hope.

Now, unless Amy's got some questions for
you, she'll tell us about her walk.

The first thing that I wanna
discuss is I went to the back.

I walked
right into the backyard.

And the earth was like
doing this movement stuff.

I did not feel safe

because of the land here.
The earth is unstable.

The way I think
it would affect you

would be maybe, like, uh,
equilibrium issues.

Mmm-hmm.

Uh, so you might get a little
bit of vertigo occasionally.

I was always a little klutzy
and slightly off equilibrium,

but I've been stumbling
around, like I drink,

since I moved in here,
and I don't drink.

Paige, any health issues?
- [Paige] Yeah, uh,

dizziness and balance,
but the...

They warned us that would
happen when we moved in here

because of the massive sinkhole.

What?
- [Paige] Yeah.

There's a massive sinkhole
at the bottom of the street.

It's just a pond now,
but it still was a massive sinkhole.

This all used to be level, it all
sunk, like, over a hundred years ago.

[Amy] That's a sign
the land is angry,

and that's not good
for you guys.

[Steve] What else?

[Amy] When I was walking,

out back,

I heard, "su1c1de."

I had the feeling
that it was a male.

Then I am swinging around,
and there's this little old lady over there.

She's, like, completely
baffled and confused.

I think she would be in her late
's, early 's maybe.

I think that she d*ed, uh,
within the last years.

I did then see, like, a flash
of, uh, the ambulance.

And people were freaking out.

Well, there's something you're
saying that makes a lot of sense.

And something you definitely
need to know about.

There was a terrible tragedy
in this house,

and it's the kind of thing
you never get over.

The previous owners of the house

were Jennifer's in-laws
and Paige's grandparents.

Kathy and David bought
this place back in .

Three years ago, Kathy and David

walked into the closet
of the back bedroom.

David then pulled out a g*n,
sh*t Kathy and then sh*t himself.

Oh, my God.

Person who found the body
was Paige.

[Amy] Ugh, I'm sorry.

Why don't you tell Amy a little
bit about your grandparents?

They were incredible,
amazing, hardworking people,

and they were a huge
inspiration to not just me,

but everyone in the family.

You told me you felt that something
here influenced their suicides.

Yes. They were
extremely proud people.

You had mentioned to me about
you felt their presence here.

Describe that
to Amy for me, please?

I'll hear Kathy talk to me,
say encouraging things.

And, um...

Don't hear from David very much,
except for like, one incident,

when he came up behind me and kind of
wrapped his arms around me, like, in a hug.

It's really,

really impactful
for me. [sniffs]

Now, I have a photo
of David and Kathy.

Uh, he was, what, ?

And gra... Your grandma
was, what? ?

[Paige] Yes.

[Steve] Now, could Kathy
be who you ran into?

No. I didn't know
which house she was from,

but I knew she wasn't from here.

So, that's a good thing.

[Steve] All right, what else?

So, when I came in, immediately,

I was hearing fighting going on.

And that I believe was happening

with the individuals
who are living here.

I saw a female storm off.

I feel like this woman
wants out of here.

She wants to leave everybody
and everything behind.

And she's kind of freaked out by some
weird thoughts, uh, that she's having.

I got that this individual is
predisposed to some depression,

and I sense that this is

a big problem here.

Well, that's one of the biggest
reasons we were called in here.

These guys are
at each other's throats.

And they think whatever's in the
house could be causing the rage.

Things are so volatile

from the time
that I've moved in.

I was having the craziest
emotional episodes of, like, rage,

anger, pain.

Yeah, there's been times
I've been that way, too,

but, it, um...
I, I, I can't take any more screaming.

I have wanted to leave
for a really long time.

The only reason I haven't
is because

we are Paige's
source of support.

I will always, always
love my child

with every fiber of my being,

whether we ever
get along again or not.

[Amy] Now, we're going to just
dive into the big problem here.

What I saw was, like,
this little gremlin-y looking thing.

It did used to be human,

which is interesting,
but it's lost its humanity

over many, many,
many, many years.

So, I did see that
something was reaching down,

from the ceiling, and putting
its hands inside a female's head.

[Paige] Hmm.
- [Amy] And, like,

massaging the brain.

Her reality is really, really,
really skewed,

because this thing is, like,
putting these weird

thoughts in her head,

and causing her to be paranoid
and depressed and anxious.

[Steve] Jennifer, you told me you
felt like something was reaching

inside of you and
causing panic att*cks.

Mmm-hmm.
- You could tell Amy about that?

It feels like
something reaches in

and I've felt like
it could read my mind

until it was me feeling
fearful and angry and

rageful and paranoid.

So is that
causing them to fight?

[Amy] Yes.

[Steve] All right, so,
could this thing

have influenced
Paige's grandparents?

[Amy] I think so.

[Steve] Okay, you described
this thing as a gremlin.

Is that what it looks like?

I did have a sketch done
of what I saw it doing.

That's kind of creepy, huh?

[Jennifer] Oh, my God.
- [Amy] Yeah, it's just...

It's really accurate.

So, do you think that's Jennifer
that you're describing in the bed?

Yes.

[Steve] Well, this might explain
some of the physical stuff

that's going on with these guys.

Tell her about the bruises
you wake up with.

I wake up with

three finger bruises.

And they are always on the
very insides of my arms.

And Paige, you got
grabbed in the hallway.

I was alone in the house,
and it felt like

I was grabbed by just
a couple of fingertips

from behind, on the elbow,
and just kind of tugged backwards.

And I was freaked out about it.

You also got scratched.

Mmm-hmm. - Tell Amy about that.
I got a photo here of it.

On her face.

Mmm.
- [Steve] Tell Amy about it.

[Jennifer] I felt a burning.

And, uh, that's...

That's what was there.

Hmm.
- [Steve] Now,

I don't know if it's related,
but Jennifer's also seeing things.

Talk about the gray man
for a second.

The gray man I have seen.

Why do you call him
the gray man?

When I try to focus in
and get his details,

he's gray with black markings.

Sometimes you'll feel him
behind you,

staring, like, hate and malice
and ill-will into you.

You mentioned about meditating and
that's when you saw the frog-like thing.

Mmm-hmm.
- [Steve] Tell Amy about that.

Well, actually...

She'd made her own sketch.

Ah!
- [Steve] So, explain to Amy

what you seen
and when you saw it.

[Jennifer] I saw it once.

He was really blobby
and just, kind of,

a mass, and he just had a,

a froggy kind of shape and look.

And his eyes were so weird.
They were, like,

the thick, bulbous froggy eyes.

Interesting, okay.

[Steve] Any chance this frog
or the gray man

have something to do
with the gremlin thing?

Yeah, I mean, they can do that.

They can project
in different ways. Absolutely.

Now, it gets weird.

When I was in the main bedroom?

[Steve] That's where Paige is.

[Amy] Okay.

There was a lot
of negative energy,

and had manipulated the
thoughts of the female in there.

What it brought out in that
female in there was hatred.

Like, pure hatred.

There has to have been some
violent outburst on her part,

like, where she has
[bleep] lost it.

Which definitely is being,

uh, manipulated by this thing,

to get worse.

She wants to hurt others.

I did have a dream
Paige stabbed us with a Kn*fe,

or me, not my husband.

[Amy] Oh, my gosh.

What does this thing
want of them, though?

Besides causing mayhem?
- [Amy] It's just a...

Yeah, it's just,
that's the [bleep] it does.

It just manipulates
people's thoughts

and causes problems,
and that's what it's doing.

Now it's just vindictive.
Now it's out of, like, revenge.

I won't let it
push me to v*olence.

If it's gonna k*ll me, it's gonna
have to do it the bloody hard way.

So, we've got a big problem.

Question is, can we
kick this thing out

so you two can live in peace?

Or is time to pack up
and get the hell out of here?

For that answer, I'm gonna
turn it over to Amy.

[Amy] This is
a big problem here,

but you can absolutely
get this thing out.

I think it would be best
though, to bring in a sensitive.

Then maybe it can be moved on,

versus, like,
completely obliterated.

It's terrified
of being obliterated,

'cause then it would
cease to exist.

So, I think, if you guys
have that intention,

it may even back off
of what it's doing right now,

knowing, "I'm gonna
get out of here.

"Somebody else is coming in,
and it's gonna be a good thing,

"for everybody."

I was terrified, so that,

shocking as it is,
is actually good news,

because he's defeatable.

[Amy] Mmm.

Very happy. [chuckles]

Once they get rid of this,
will their health get better?

[Amy] Yes. Everybody'll
be feeling a lot better.

And clear, clear-minded.

[Steve] What about
the angry land?

[Amy] I was
freaked out about it.

But I think you'll be okay
now that you're aware of it.

So that's a good thing.
- Oh, yeah.

The other thing I wanna
bring up is counseling.

Both of you guys need it
for yourselves--

[Paige] Mmm.
- Mmm-hmm.

I think there's stuff, you
guys, each, need to get rid of.

And then I think you guys
need counseling together.

Y'all need to learn how to
speak each other's language.

You also need
to bury some [bleep]

that doesn't need
to be existing anymore.

Mmm.
- [Amy] So you guys

could like, I don't know,

maybe have a good, functional,
happy relationship.

I mean, I...
I've been dying

for personal therapy--
- Okay.

...since my grandparents d*ed.
And I would absolutely love to

be in counseling with her,
because I don't have my grandma anymore.

She's all I--
- And you want your mom.

Yeah.

So, Jennifer, you gonna
take Amy's advice?

Absolutely.
- [Steve] Okay.

Good.

I am profoundly thankful for the
information that has come forth,

and what to do about it.

I am extremely happy that it's something
we can actually do something about.

It's relieving.

[Amy] I'm really glad we were
able to come up with a solution

for Jennifer and Paige.

I believe if they contact a
medium to get rid of the gremlin

and start family counseling,
they will be well on their way

to finding the peace
and happiness they deserve.

Hi, Dead Files. Update time.

So, I found
a very sweet sensitive

who referred me to her team.

They came in,
did a thorough check,

found everything,
and it's all gone.

I can't tell you
how excited I am.

For Paige and I,
the future looks really good.

I'm not exaggerating when I say

that I could not be more grateful.
Thank you, guys.
